alder's actually one of my favorites, he's one of the only one who feels like an actual character. I feel like pokemon's target audience is too young to really appreciate him
I feel like Leon and Geeta are the only champions so far that don't feel fricking moronic and out of place in the setting but people definitely won't admit it.
No I mean from like a "how the world works perspective". Leon is the reigning champion of a sport that defines the entire culture of a region. Geeta is the CEO of the Pokemon League in her own region.
And then you have these other games where they are keeping the champion secret from you for meta reasons and also they are top of their (non Pokemon battling) field of study and also the best trainer in the region. It's just dumb.
The champions are clearly part of an organization, my complaint is that these characters and organization get zero development or justification they just exist to be the final boss.
While they all have teams that are decently challenging, only Cynthia has a "Cynthia's Garchomp". N would come close with his box legendary if not for the fact that it's pretty much scripted to lose to your own.
Lance.
Stormed a villains hideout, hyperbeamed a grunt in the face, rolled their admins and slapped the rival so bad he had a change of heart, also mentored the MC.
Gold/Kris/Lyra beat Red in his prime. Rosa and Chicken (I don't know what the boy names are) beat Gary, Cynthia, Red, and a bunch of other champions in their postgames.
So best champion is either Gold, Rosa, or Chicken.
bro no one fricking cares
I say this as genwunner hater; the fact that gen 1 is a broken mess literally doesn't matter to the five year olds who played it at the time it came out and looking back you can always play frlg instead
bro no one fricking cares
I say this as genwunner hater; the fact that gen 1 is a broken mess literally doesn't matter to the five year olds who played it at the time it came out and looking back you can always play frlg instead
Gen 1 works mostly fine with some minor bugs you wouldn’t notice unless you were looking for them, I think the worst bug is focus energy doing the opposite of what it’s supposed to
It's not just bugs.
The AI is also dogshit. >use a poison type against a pokemon that know agility >ai sees psychic as super effective against you >Spams agility
pokemon isn't a game you play for difficulty. Gen 1 is the best because due to glitches you can always have a fun playthrough by using late game mons by the time you're at misty without using randomizers. Also the limited move pools means your TM usage actually matters. You also don't have baby quality of life diarrhea thrown in to appease morons. Red and Blue is the best way to play
bro no one fricking cares
I say this as genwunner hater; the fact that gen 1 is a broken mess literally doesn't matter to the five year olds who played it at the time it came out and looking back you can always play frlg instead
She's definitely the only rival who is actually a consistent and genuine threat in every single battle against her. Not a champion technically though. These pokemon fan games make me wish GF would make a harder difficulty option in later games.
>Protagonist of the previous game is the secret final boss
You can't top Red unless they do something like have Blue comeback with a genuinely difficult team of pokemon
>Blue
Pretty kino actually. Team is solid and feels like something a player would use with the type coverage, but definitely dragged down by the shitty AI. >Lance
Good character but extremely underwhelming fight, with a team that looks like more fit to a random trainer than a champ. >Red
Best presentation in the series hands down, and fighting the former protagonist is always a nice idea. Team is a little weird though, why does he have all Kanto starters? >Wallace
Not a very interesting character but I guess he got a decent team for a monotype. >Steven
Steel is only scary for beginners, not people who reached the champion. Downgrade overall, but slightly more endearing character >Cynthia
Great team, some actual difficulty (unless you are playing DP due to an AI glitch) that might force you to get a counter or two, but she is a non-character. Oh, and I guess the music is really good too. >N
Unironically an epic fight, hard to top the castle, using a legendary, the awesome music and his character in general. >Alder
Literally who. Lmao bugs, even if to be fair Unova does have some good ones. >Iris
At least she isn't using 3 Dragonite. Dunno, she just doesn't give that final boss feel and looks extremely out of place next to the elite 4 >Diantha
Literally who and also an absolute joke >Kakui
While technically not a champion, it's one hell of a twist. Decent enough fight >Hau
Also technically not a champ. Hate him, but he's good. >Leon
Good character imo, Charizard dicksucking aside. He is also a joke and has one of the easiest dynamax to defeat.
Haven't played SV
honorable mention: >Ghetsis
This guy is fricking scary and so is the battle BGM. And the Hydreigon, he sure showed me that he doesn't need a legendary to wreck my ass. I kinda wish the other team leaders turned up to be the final boss of the campaign, while the champion could be the 2nd strongest opponent like N.
>Team is a little weird though, why does he have all Kanto starters?
I remember reading somewhere that he had the starters because it was a nod of respect to Ash. In GSC he had an Espeon as a nod to respect towards his pokemon adventures manga counterpart.
>Blue
Based and a worthy rival. >Lance
Cool guy, glad he got his seat back. >Red (Former Champion but it still counts, frick you)
Best fight in the franchise. >Stephen
Also a cool guy. >Wallace
Don't get why this homosexual replaced Stephen. >Cynthia
Iconic for a reason (she's hot) and has a good team. >N
Getting the box legendary is a fun idea, but meh. At least you can box it instead of it being forced into your party. >Alder (also Former Champion)
Fun character, wish more got done with him. I'm glad you still get to fight him after the plot's over. >Iris
Hyper gay, they shouldn't have pussied out and given us Hilbert/Hilda as Champion. I don't care about the dragon e-girl outside of porn. >X/Y
I can see her, but I can't even remember her name. Utterly forgettable. >Sun/Moon
. >Leon
Overhyped. >S/V
Haven't even played it, couldn't tell you.
Cynthia. Her team isn't necessarily the most dangerous in-game, but even among the champions with team variety she makes the strongest impression. Her team is more like that which you'd assemble in the postgame than as you beat the game, contrasting the likes of Blue and Leon, and it's not arranged in an objectively moronic way, so she beats Geeta by default.
Shit like Garchomp and >Spiritomb is definitely more fitting for post-game.
Can't say the same of the likes of Lucario, Togekiss, Mitotic and lmao Gastrodon in DP
Milotic is absolutely not something most players are going to be finding before the postgame, to be fair, and there's literally two shiny stones in the entire game so togekiss is at least fairly exclusive.
what the frick was gastrodon doing there though, that's always been the odd one out
Agree that Milotic is annoying to get especially in Gen4, but it's not what I would consider post-game material. More like just a rare pick due to how it works.
Togekiss is unsurprisingly a common choice for the shiny stone, and it's available early enough iirc. Speaking of this thing, it's an absolute monster in a player's hand, the AI absolutely doesn't do it justice. >fast enough, can paralyze if necessary >bulkier than it looks >can dish some decent damage and it's easy enough to get more turns with flinches >heals with roost, also learns heal bell for statuses >ANCIENT POWER + Serene Grace and can learn baton pass holy fricking god
Ah, this was my own bias showing through then. For me it's mostly a matter of "when" rather than "if" on damn near the entire Pokedex, and things like Milotic I'm almost compelled to use for at least awhile after I successfully get them, so I always thought of it as postgame-y.
Agreed on Togetic though, it does a lot of interesting things that Pokemon AI in general isn't tuned well to show off. Real shame.
Red became champion then left to continue competing in tournaments and competitions in other regions. He's not Kanto's celebrity, defender archeologist or anything lame: He's a Pokemon Trainer dedicated to his craft. He's the platonic ideal of a pokemon trainer, making him the best fit for being the standout of all pokemon trainers.
>Blue
Almost the same as Red but had to replace Giovanni after being dethroned. He could be the best again, but he's stuck as a gym leader
>Lance
Jobbed to Red AND Blue, the only reason he's Champion is to fill the gap. lol. lmao.
>Steven
He'd rather look at pretty rocks with his team that dies to a single chicken. Emerald is him living his dream.
>Wallace
Like Lance but mono-water. At least he tries to take his job seriously.
>Cynthia
Garchomp is UU and so is she. Every child she comes across defeats her.
>Alder
Has a Volcarona and couldn't even handle the kid using shit like Klingklang and Zoroark. If you think N just steamrolled with Reshiram/Zekrom that's further proof Alder was too PTSD'd to use his pokemon correctly. Retirement mandatory.
>Iris
Filler for Alder. The region is full of trainers more qualified. Cheren would've made a better Champion as a successor to Alder. why the frick did he just become a gym leader stuck in Nowhereville?
>N
He's a filthy casual that used to be anti-competitive. If Reshiram, he's literally the Pokemon version of a Blue-Eyes White Dragon player.
>Diantha
She's a movie star and, like Brycen, should stick to the movies.
>Alola
PC is the first one so whatever
>Hop's brother & 5 people
A Pokemon Champion is champion over all trainers. These people can't even access every Pokemon.
Toss up between Cynthia and Red. Both have insanely well put together teams and pose a legitimate challenge. Bonus point for the unreleased Professor Oak fight in 1st gen, no idea why they cut it.
Red
Me as postgame champion in S/M
You never fight Red as a champion, he's already retired to "trainer" in GS.
>UMMM ACKSHOOALLY
Lookin ass
You have like 10 champions you could have chosen for your image and you chose someone who isn't. You lost.
You DARE speak to me like a pathetic little man?
Flee. NOW.
Pup.
>retired

Pokecucks are fricking moronic
anyone besides alder
alder's actually one of my favorites, he's one of the only one who feels like an actual character. I feel like pokemon's target audience is too young to really appreciate him
Cynthia.
Shes cool, has a really good team and her theme is banger.
I feel like Leon and Geeta are the only champions so far that don't feel fricking moronic and out of place in the setting but people definitely won't admit it.
Geeta makes sense if you work backwards logically.
Which makes sense because her team is also backwards.
A Champion is just the best trainer. You don't have to "fit". The only qualification is beating the current reigning champion.
The champions are clearly part of an organization, my complaint is that these characters and organization get zero development or justification they just exist to be the final boss.
cynthia is good because she has the best porn, however steven is the best champion.
also red isn't champion, he gave up the title previously.
(you)
While they all have teams that are decently challenging, only Cynthia has a "Cynthia's Garchomp". N would come close with his box legendary if not for the fact that it's pretty much scripted to lose to your own.
In my opinion Blue is the best champion, because he's your rival.
Red reminds me of Clint Eastwood dollars trilogy arc-type, so Red.
N is wahmen bait.
Cynthia belongs in the kitchen or in the bedroom.

Now that you think about it, Gold/Ethan is Lance's apprentice. He somewhat scooped him up to beat Red.
b2w2 was where the series became woke
Take your meds
Cynthia
She actually has good mons, unlike Red's NU tier lookin ass team
>After all’s been said and done, who was the best Pokemon Champion?
Me, I beat all the regions and the the games always tell me how amazing I am
Leon
Steven is the only actual threatening champion
not with that zesty artwork he aint
Gold/Kris/Lyra beat Red in his prime. Rosa and Chicken (I don't know what the boy names are) beat Gary, Cynthia, Red, and a bunch of other champions in their postgames.
So best champion is either Gold, Rosa, or Chicken.
Blue is the best. Nobody here is old enough to know, so it's not something you can properly measure.
Everything from Gen 1 is a joke because of how the game is a completely broken mess

Gen 1 can suck my wiener
you know, I'm actually surprised at the amount of brown champions or former champions Pokemon has had considering how much japs love white people
Silver and Gladion are good rivals.
It's actually ???
Silver is a fricking hack who has 1 good character beat (which is one more than most so I'll give you that)
It's Cynthia. This isn't even a debate.
She's definitely the only rival who is actually a consistent and genuine threat in every single battle against her. Not a champion technically though. These pokemon fan games make me wish GF would make a harder difficulty option in later games.

My nemesis. My Rival. My Wife.
She’s a cum dumpster bro
Just steal her pokemon money and dump her
Red isn't a champion he's just some autistic guy living on a mountain.
He is the ultimate.
Blue
Red's the worst. He has sheer levels, but he has the worst team with the worst movesets.
Red’s the best because he chose his team off of his emotional connection with them
As you SHOULD. Pokemon are FRIENDS
Sure, but he's a disappointing EX boss.
Red became champion then left to continue competing in tournaments and competitions in other regions.
