2016 is one of the best, and has great large maps and plays really well and simple. Shootan and navigatan
Eternal is an arcade cabinet DOOM game
smaller and tighter arenas, with more refined and tighter movement.
Eternal added platforming sections, which people were not too hot on. Eternal is 100% worth plying though

The dev is reminding me of the Blade II dev, an awkward disconnect between him and the runner, but full of interesting development tidbits without seeming obligated to be positive.
It happens like everytime they have a dev on.
I still cringe from that one banjo kazooie run where they had grant on and the runner just kept screaming about "tooie bad" like goddamn trying to get autists to talk to people with actual jobs and lives does not work
It's just like the Metroid Prime run from several years ago when they brought in a Retro guy and totally ignored him for most of the run. He kept trying to talk about development but the runner had absolutely nothing to say to him about it.
And just like that run, I'm far more interested in hearing the dev chat about this and that aspect or event in development than the runner blabbing about tricks he's not even pulling off well. Yeah there's a documentary about the development, but you get a lot of off the cuff info from the dev just watching the game be played and having stuff jog his memory.

I like the concept that there is a priority depending on relativity towards the player to prioritize their attack over another.
I notice the flaw of not having a system like this in MUSOs more often than not while like 40 dudes will stand there and look at air while I'm beating down a captain.

i think this is specifically enabling more than one enemy to attack at a time - it allows maintaining a constant “pressure” from a large number of autonomous enemies (like they are not programmed as a horde, they just coordinate through this token request system)

Attack limiting is a thing yes, but this explains how they prioritize and organize who attacks, why, when and how.
Which is still neat because there are like 20 differnt ways you can do this along with "not on screen, wont' do a thing but move"

I know people circlejerk it enough as is but I always liked FEAR's AI.
This isn't anything special and has been the standard for mainstream action games for years. It's usually calling "slotting" and is why so many games have crowd combat that is like the old kung fu movies where enemies wait to attack one at a time and never truly gang up on the player, because players would complain that it feels unfair and cheap. It's not something to praise, it's a way to create the illusion of fighting big groups that are actually being polite about their attacks so you don't get overwhelmed.
In Ninja Gaiden all enemies attack at the same time.
