The gameplay is actually good though. Unlike other action-adventure games like the new Tomb Raider movies which become nothing more than pointless moviegame bullshit, Alice actually uses the strengths of the action-adventure genre mainly that it's not even a genre at all to constantly keep you entertained by switching between different forms of gameplay. A bit of platforming here, puzzle solving and combat there, with occasional minigames and cutscenes in between to keep things fresh. It's a shame a third game won't be released, but it's probably a good thing overall since AMR's ending was already perfect

The combat is really stiff without any kind of expresiveness and a lot of waiting because you HAVE to beat the same enemies the exact same way over and over, and levels drag on for too long without anything going on except samey platforming sections where you do the same thing for half an hour stretches at a time and the only thing is unlocking some optional tapes with recordings to add on the background.
The best things were the writing, Alice and her various cosplays, and the aesthetics, all of which were very good and fun. If the game was half as long so the pace changed up more often it would've been much better. 14 hours is just too much time doing the exact same things.
The queen of hearts level I found more varied than the rest with the gigantism section and running away from the joker and whatnot, but otherwise it was really boring to play through. And I'm not saying this to own the game.
