She would always swear by CK2 but she's telling me that the new DLC has made her like CK3 better now. She just said that the DLC doesn't really do much for strategy or map painting but if you like role playing she suggests picking it up. She's Ugandan, if that matters.

How is SO6? I've played every other SO game and really hated 5.
I really like it. Raymond is a great protagonist.
Combat is well structured, difficulty fluctuates a bit along the way, the "DUMA" mechanics are neat.
Story is relatively grounded compared to the much grander scopes that 3&4 had, much more focused like SO2 including the twin-protag perspective choice at the beginning of the game (and you being stuck on a rock for most of the game until you start doing a bit of space stuff in the second half).
PC version was in a bad state due to the shader compilation issues that plagued a bunch of games in the past several years, but Precompiling Shaders in the title menu and NOT using "prioritize framerate" makes the game run perfectly smooth.

You mean 6? Jump right in. Each game is effectively independent from one another, big timeskips and isolated incidents.
5 is unfortunately the black sheep, a half-game crippled by executive decision.
Any recurring elements across the series are minor. Each game since SO3 has a somewhat comprehensive Encyclopedia that will fill you in on terms like the "UP3" so you aren't lost on any critical stuff.
