Alright what's the best controller for PC usage?
Pic very much not related, what a piece of shit.

what's wrong with it?
The quality is ass. Either you get a double inputting A button and/or your left bumper will just give up and stop working.
>left bumper will just give up and stop working.
open it up and replace the planned obsolescence pins for the bumbers with some loose plastic shit, I snipped the top of a glue bottle and used that lol
Its a real shame since the 360 controller was made out of nintendium.
Never had this problem, I bought the controller on day one
>double inputting A button
They finally seem to have done something to fix this in the Series controllers
Is that a newer revision of the Series pad? It definitely wasn't like that on the earlier Core controller releases. Huh. Maybe I won't have to get an 8shitdo after all.
I reverse searched it and got this Korean site:
https://blog.naver.com/sjejfdlskek/223063860809
that I can't translate at all because Google doesn't know what to do with it and none of the text is selectable or even in the page source because it's fricking Naver which is a locked-down asiatic piece of SHIT.
my browser did it, it seems like they did improve it but there is or has been a mix of "generations" of the pad on the market with both the old pattern and new pattern.
here'st he forum post he referenced, enjoy the nikke ad on the bottom that escaped my adblocker somehow
terrible crop, text is
4th generation pad specific button strength..
I bought two Gen 4 pads a few weeks ago.
One is black and the other is a limited edition.
All of the 4th generation pads I've purchased so far have only deviations in button chewing, but there are some.
Did I draw well? because
I disassembled it and checked.
The button contact part on the board has changed differently from before.
(The left is the recently purchased 4th generation black, and the right is the Forza limited pad)
It seems that the submarine was patched in magic
Thank you, anon. I'd found a post on Reddit that mentioned the Forza edition console having a new controller design- specifically, someone asked about the bumpers feeling different, and someone else asked if the face buttons still skipped but got no reply- but haven't been able to find info about whether it was a one-off thing or if all Series controllers have properly overlapping contacts now. as you might expect the info isn't easy to find because most people don't get this autistic.
No gyro
>flailing arms
if you're doing that with gyro on, you're moronic.
>gyro
>on pc
y tho?
You can't really do it on a console. Almost no games natively support it.
Cause it's awesome, and PC has by far.the best gyro support, being.that gyro aim is just mouse aim, gyro and mouse inputs map perfectly to each nother (a splatoon pro did.the inverse and it worked like native mouse support) .
Every game that runs on a controller should have gyro. You make major aiming adjustments with the stick, then minor adjustments to fix the inaccuracies by tilting slightly.
>flailing arms
Nice of you to gloss over the actual issue, which is the small, repeated, sudden, constant wrist movements, while constantly holding your wrists in an unsupported position that is nessecary to make those small movements possible.
Fricking morons think they are immune to the health risk and it is hilarious.
doesn't happen to me anymore, seems like a skill issue.
The controllers tend to give up the ghost after like half a year if you play a couple hours every day. The sticks are the same potentiometer shit as PS5 and Switch, the resistance in my sticks is gone and don't feel like they're 100% accurate anymore. All sorts of cheap shit. And surprise, the Elite Controllers aren't much better; for all that "premium" price, the grips are stuck on with the laziest fricking adhesive that will pop off eventually, and the replaceable parts aren't high-quality at all.
I've had no trouble with mine
Nothing. It's the best controller
Nothing, OP is just a huge homosexual and probably has litlle sissy girl hands.
my hands are on the small side and I've loved every xbox controller I've ever used so that guy is just a b***h
I use it and it's just fine
nothing, he's jus autistic
Nothing
I don't know. I've had mine forever. I think I'm still using the one from my XBox One. I think they're great.
After 1 year the r1 button broke and i had to fix it with a replacement. And yesterday the analogue stick broke and it doesnt come back up when i click it. I ended up buying a cheap, cabled Nexon ps4 controller and goddamn it feels weird to hold.
they're cheaply made the button feel like their made out cheap coin machine capsule uses batteries in 2023 honestly the the third party 25 dollars controller are better
Buttons have the tendency to not register if you don't press them centred as the conductor might not bridge
i'm using a flydigi vader pro 3. Finally I get my six button layout, plus rear buttons (and hall effect analog sticks). Though I have to run their shitty software for remapping buttons... but hey, it works on Win 7, and for that I give my respect to the chinks (even though they probably only do that cuz they're still running 7)
The best is well over $500 but if you're a poorgay, the gamesir g7 se is the one for you.
>mythical >$500 controller
>supposedly THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST
>implying I don't want to buy 3 of them
This is all you need. Anything with a right analog stick is trash.
Impossible to update now because Steam disabled it in Big Picture Mode
https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/steamworks_docs/english/Steam_Controller_FW_Update_Tool.zip
i finished dark souls 1-3 with that thing. never again. such a niche controller.
I honestly think it's really good for turn based stuff like CIV or XCOM. And it's a decent controller for nvidia shield where you kind of want a bit of a mix between controller and mouse.
I have a Gulikit KK Pro II (excellent controller btw) but I wonder if I can get this running on the Switch.
If you don't mind wires, clicky buttons a mediocre d-pad and the ridiculous name
those look like short throw sticks, pass
Best d-pad out of any stock controller hands down, bumpers and sticks suck bad though.
The face buttons are interesting. They feel a little weird coming from membrane and sometimes feel as if they drop inputs sometimes, might just be me though.
Logitech F310 is good for everything except first and third person shooters. But if you're on a PC already you shouldn't be using a controller for shooters.
how good are the analogs for racing?
Not him but very bad. They're extremely stiff even after years of use, tend to jitter, don't have a very long range and there's nothing to rest your finger on like the nubs of a PS trigger or the wholly concave shape of an Xbox trigger.
>f310
>garbage d-pad
>shit quality sticks and face buttons
>hard as FRICK plastic and
>cavernous fingergaps in back that combined will murder your digits after a half-hour or so if you don't put padding in yourself
It's trash for everything unless you need something with a dinput/xinput switch, but lots of shit has that these days.
I used to praise x/dinput compatibility but the thing is, it's totally unnecessary today. Some great Japanese dude made a little wrapper called Xinput Plus that lets you take any Xinput device and have it output as DirectInput on a per-game basis, and you can even fine-tune it to handle things like games expecting DInput axes to be -50/0/50 or -100/100 or inverted or etc.
>Pic very much not related
Waddaya mean, they've been the most ergonomic since the 360 apart from the trigger pull length, Microsoft R&D must be entirely NoGunz
Triggers are for racing, but the mechanism is hall effect, so basically it's whatever game's fault for not setting the fire action threshold lower if you're having trouble with responsiveness.
>the mechanism is hall effect
>for racing
I hadn't thought about it that way before, insightful post, Anon
Yeah, that's why you want to scrub your hands before gaming sessions, I recommend picrel
>I hadn't thought about it that way before
Yeah, but it's also why most controllers don't have hall effect sticks. The left sticks' proximity to the left trigger would cause them to interfere with each other.
It's even worse on a Playstation layout, since the sticks would be too close to each other.
Those hall effect chinkshit controllers you see actually use regular pots for the triggers and will become unresponsive very quickly.
Yeah I know, and I also know 99.9% of the 11 million people that bought Gran Turismo have never seen one.
Dualshock 3 or 4
horrible ergonomics
I've got 8bitdo pro 3 and switch pro
>chinkshitdo
lol
lmao
>chinkshit has better quality than Microshit controller
woah, what happened?
>Implying ms controller isn't chinkshit
>Switch Pro
>digital triggers
Enjoy not playing any driving or racing games I guess.
And if you're playing FPS or TPS with a controller on PC, please die in a fire.
Do you think racing games didn't exist on the PS1
You do know the first PS1 analog controller was from namco, right? And it had analog face buttons, an analog trigger, and a twist axis in the middle.
not playing any driving or racing games I guess
>using trigger buttons for precision driving instead of analogue stick
Absolutely disgusting
>uses analogue sticks for acceleration
lmao, this homie doesnt drive in real life.
Pro 2 but yes, got mine and love mine. Wish the silkscreening on the controller face for the Game Boy version was better, the Y's faded off of its spot right next to the button
>8bitdo pro 3
there is no pro3
I recently replaced a DS4 with a cheap DS3 clone. You need to manually install the sony driver to have the buttons map right, or use a community driver to configure it as an xinput controller if you want the rumble to work with Steam.
Controllers are for children.
gamer heaven made a video recently
Switch Pro. Only downside is recharge battery but at least it lasts 30 years per charge
If you prefer symmetrical: 8bitdo Pro 2 > Stadia >>> DualShock 4 >>> DualSense
If you prefer assymetrical: Switch Pro > 8BitDo Pro 3 >>>>>>>> Xbox
dualsense is the best ive used so far, the triggers are nice, its overall very comfy, usb c is very convenient, and its hard to break it!
> its hard to break it
Did you people never grow out of your spastic child phase? Do adults really throw controllers around like toddlers?
Less intentional throwing, more just dropping or accidentally tossing while doing something else.
Don't worry if you don't have hard floors.
Clearly you've never seen Elden Ring rage compilations
You already asked this.
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/646736198/#646736198
I've been enjoying this one.
>around $30
>hall effect joysticks
>turbo function
>4 programmable paddles on the back
>can program macros on the paddles
>feels pretty cozy in the hand
The only thing I dislike is the + and - button position since I use those as start and select on PC but I got used to them after a couple days.
what's it called?
https://a.co/d/4ZrmhIp
Its this one.
>literally used Paint to black out the license plate of the borrowed Forza Horizon screenshot
Heh.
I like the Steam controller but if I need to use the D-Pad, I use the Dual Shock 4.
Or iBuffalo SNES controller if it's a simple 2D game
Looks neat, is it actually good or am I falling for a marketeer?
>is it actually good
Yeah. Its not the best controller in the world or anything, its a $30 controller after all so temper your expectations but if you're looking for something that just works, is decently reliable, is pretty feature complete and feels decent. Then yeah, it doesn't get much better for the price really. There are better controllers out there but they're usually like twice the price so keep that in mind.
>nintendo button layout
pass
The buttons are the same as the Xbox ones on PC.
moron post
>m-muh button symbols
do you also look at the keyboard while you type you gigantic homosexual?
Wow this actually looks like a great value for the price.
That dpad looks like fricking garbage
I can write a dissertation on what makes a good dpad at this point, so tired of chinks and even first parties now shitting out awful dpads.
Forgot pic
>tape on d-pad contacts
NOOOOOOO DELETE THIS.
I'd say the DS3 is better.
You don't even understand why they're needed
Your lack of reading comprehension skills is astounding.
If you need to add tape over the contacts then the d-pad is shit.
>8bitdo 2.4 now has bluetooth, too
So the only reason to get the Bluetooth Ultimate is the magnetic sticks? They're really shooting themselves here.
Gamesir G7 vs SE? Apparently SE uses hall sticks that wont drift but the base G7 is more comfy?
SE doesnt have mechanical buttons either.
Standard g7 seems like it has better materials.
Got the Dualsense recently and it's excellent. Build quality feels better than my xbone or DS4. Don't know why Ganker shits on it.
>symmetrical joysticks
that's why.
asymmetrical is king
Wrong
Whatever youre used to is best stop with this meme argument. It makes no difference
>Build quality feels better than my xbone or DS4
>Drift out of the box
Get better 'feels'
yeah that's my bby; I was too lazy to post pic. I got it glowing red when I play Tie Fighter Remastered. And now I've got plenty of buttons for targetting subsystems and wingman commands.
DUKE
The king. Remove the share button and fix the dpad and this would be the best controller of all time.
sure, if you have dimorphism in your hands
have a nice day babyhands
go away, shrek hands.
i actually have small hands and still found the duke very comfortable; I think most people are just very psychologically suggestible and they saw big controller and therefore felt like it was bigger than it was. It's like people who actually saw a white and gold dress, their brains don't properly interpret data.
>"I can't press A+white" the controller
shitty meme
>fix the shit that makes my controller shit and it would be decent
how do you manage to breathe?
>soldered vibration motors
literally why
>I can't press A+White
>Doesn't see the bumpers on the top that do the same fricking thing
morons only come to Ganker to complain
literally the best controller, comfort/button placement is unmatched, moron.
Ergonomics are good, build quality isn't.
lmao, build quality is just fine. maybe if you didn't chuck it across the room it wouldnt break, wings.
hell even my 30 dollar power A last long
Good morning sir.
i sue the switch one, there are some bluetooth issues, but works fine
Never had any issues using this with the NS Magic dongle. You tap a button and it syncs. if you sync the controller through bluetooth it gets annoying having to pair it again through the bluetooth panel because Windows bugs out and forgets it every time the controller shuts off.
try using non-3.0 USB ports and use an extension cable, I didn't think the intermittence would be due the case blocking the signal, but now it works no problems.
still a piece of shit tho. Drifts, inputlag worse wired than BT, ultraBlack person tier d-pad (gotta use tape trick on the PCB), and the analogs are made from shit tier plastic that grinds into white dust.
i hear people say the flydigi vader 3 pro is great but it's out of stock on amazon.
i had to buy it on aliexpress. They're all cheaper there than on Amazon; but there are ones that are cheaper that are not on the official flydigi storefront, I didn't buy one of those, instead I bought it for slightly more from the flydigi store. Also the version of the space station software for the vader 3 pro was like, not in the correct spot on their shitty website. Make sure to get version 3.0
Oh, ok. I guess I'm just wondering what the hell the C and Z buttons are and what back buttons do. Just extra buttons?
>expecting anyone to believe there are actual anons here who buy some shit like ELITE GAMER SUPREME VADER 16 ZX CYBER DEATHLORD PRO RGB 24.2 GHz type controller instead of just getting a Playstation or Xbox pad like a fricking normal person
yeah there's no fricking way
these posts are 100% marketing and no one here is pathetic enough to buy any of these 8bitgo or madcatz or whatever third party pads
>buying controllers without hall effect joysticks in 2023
Nah.
get dunked on, anon
as proof I am american I included my loaded glock and unregistered copy of Windows 7
by default c and z function as the thumbstick press in buttons, but I have them set to key presses for use in whatever game I'm playing (in tie fighter I use them to cycle through targets). The rear buttons default to the dpad directions, but once again you can set them to whatever. You have to be using their software to reassign them tho, otherwise they just use default functionality when the controller is acting like an xbox pad essentially.
Makes sense. I kinda like the idea of stick press functionality in buttons - always felt awkward having to press them in in games where i'd like to move while doing whatever the hell the stick press does
Whoa, no need to get so worked up. You're making the plush nervous.
that's a dank ELITE GAMER SUPREME VADER 16 ZX CYBER DEATHLORD PRO RGB 24.2 GHz dude
>4 buttonlet
she deserves worse
as do you
Ah my brother in Christ
Haha, this ain't the 2000's no more anon. 3rd parties have caught up, deal with it.
Lose weight.
post soundcloud
anon.... I'm like most people with an mpk mini and I haven't made a single damn thing
cringe
Im using it for over a year in almost all games i play including fighting games and its good for me. Still not broken, no drift all buttons work perfectly fine too.
Mine is 29 months old and I've already had to replace the left bumper once and it's getting spongy again. I also have some intermittent drift in the left stick and the A button is really kinda shitty. Sometimes it doesn't read at all and sometimes it reads double
True connoisseur anon!
too soon man
Doesn't work for submarine games.
to be honest, all current gen controllers are shit
>all first party controllers suffer from analog stick drift and sometimes shitty d-pads
>chinkshit continues to be bad
>no decent 3rd party controllers
I got an xbox elite controller. Good qt and haptics.
Now my favorite controller ever. I need to find a way to use it for every console. The pro switch controller feels more like a toy in comparison
And then when I get the universal gyro adapter I discovered this will be the best controller of all time.
Amazon link?
But what about THE controler? Must be good if this homosexual, God bless his soul, used one for his futuristic submarine.
You be the judge
dead horse
where do you think we are? this is the dead horse brothel
amusingly enough, it survived. I wish you could say the same about the crew.
I didn't really follow this whole case, was the culprit really the joypad or this whole thing is a meme and they died because they were just dumb?
It imploded because they were cheap making the hull. There's even a video of dude bragging about how 'innovative' he was not meeting industry standards.
The controller is silly, but supposedly it works fine and even the military does that kind of thing with xbox controllers.
first time i got some input to share:
GuliKit KINGKONG 2
check it out it has great value and the zero drift was a big reason i went with it.
it has been nothing but a pleasure to use both for PC and switch.
Only reason I went for the 8bitdo Ultimate instead was that I heard Gulikit had some QA issues with the Kingkongs. Then a temporary cat stay nearly broke my controller, so I'm regretting it.
I heard it wasn't QA but their weird semi-mechanical face buttons having a flaw by design and shitty face buttons is the whole reason I went away from Microsoft pads so I stopped looking at the King Kongs.
ALL controllers are bad. Use a keyboard
Keyboards aren't meant for games. There, I said it. Keyboards fricking suck for like 9/10 games, and I'm tired of pretending they don't.
membrane, mechanical or optical?
it's comfy for emulation. and it has gyro for switch emulation.
Just had pic related suddenly stop working. Bought it in 2020, used it pretty lightly. Contacted SteelSeries customer support and after sending them several pics and recording/uploading a video for them, they said sorry, can't help you because it's past the 1 year warranty, but here is a 15% discount for a new one! Wew lad.
Just ordered a battery for $20 and I'll see if replacing that does the trick. Why would I wanna blow another $60 on a controller that will die in a few years. Their customer service was pretty cringe too.
wolverine v2
Ps4 obviously
Dualsense is the best, only improved (but also worsened) by the Edge
Would be wiimote+nunchuck if there was a program to support it that made it like metroid prime, eg turning gets faster the closer you are to the edge if he screen.
But everything is FRICKED
So wired 360 controller. Acceptno substitute. Xb1+ controllers have shitty clicky shoulders and are fricking fricked with fricky cords that fall out or frick themselves fricking your single frick slot.
No. It has to be wired and just work. The only fricked thing with a 360 controller is it's recognised with games so you can't use xpadder to cuatomize the buttons. So you get stuck using the homosexual buttons. But not like you can set buttin combinatikns as buttons because like said everything is fricked, and just use a mouse and keyboard unless you are bed ridden or hobo then of course a wired 360 will do. But no! Phines have homosexual usb, not delicious huge squares, and knly one if them so you will have to put up with a xb1+ controller or something custom that uses Black personless if you, frick this the end.
I use ds3.
Works so great and i never need to buy batteries and doesn't cause moronic stuttering pausing this xshit c**troller does.
I'm sick of planned obsolesce.
It has a lot of buttons and is wireless.
The vibration options are pretty top much too.
You are really funny anon
either the switch pro or dualsense. WiiU pro would be the best if it had gyro
Speaking of 8bitdo and chinky things: Anyone experienced with their mechanical keyboard? I wish it wasn't a TKL but I might still buckle and get it if it's good, I loooooove that the keycaps aren't fricking Cherry profile.
looks like a gimmick, but i'm using a $50 keychron so whatever
It IS pretty gimmicky but it seems awfully solid for a $100 plastic board; 2 1/2 pound weight, triple-mode wireless, hotswap, Kailh box whites, dyesub PBT keycaps, and a goofy little macropad that looks like A and B buttons in the box. Only things that keep me from pulling the trigger are a top-mount (I'm an autist and like gasket mounts, keyboards with them are easy to modify) and I don't like TKLs, I prefer having a numberpad as on a full-size or 1800.
Hotswap greatly surprised me for a tie-in product! It's really cool to see enthusiast companies run fricking circles around all the gamer brands.
>no numpad
hard pass
I'm with you on preferring the full size board but I actually needed a TKL for my travel tech bag. I now have a microPC (debating replacing it with an ally or wingpd or steam deck for diagnostics), tablet (if I need monitor and none is available), and when this comes out, I'll have a nice little 87 key that isn't in some shitty troony layout.
It's not even out yet. Won't be out till late september. They're shipping out review units in early september so still a month out, but I'm feeling pretty confident in it. Their mouse isn't anything wildly outrageous, but it's solid. Their arcade stick is the same, this keybaord is around those mkey system's price points, so I'm gonna assume similar quality (wouldn't be surprised if they co-opted the manufacturer).
Plus it's hotswappable.
All mechanical keyboards are Chinkshit
All the gaymen brands and the entry boutique ones like Keychron are Chinkshit
All the switches (Kaihl, Cherry, Gateron, etc) are also Chinkshit even if they have American/Yuro owners
What separates these Chinkshit is the keycaps, the best ones are limited drops only and made in Germany
>What separates these Chinkshit is the keycaps, the best ones are limited drops only and made in Germany
>GMK
LOL
I use a DS4 now that I have a PS5, works for everything I wanna use it for, has gyro, I replaced the sticks with hall effect ones, so drift isn't a concern on the whole, and I personally prefer the symmetrical design.
Otherwise, I have used 8bitdo pro controllers on occasion, but typically I'm using those on my steam link in the living room. I've got two hooked up to it for when I bring a girl or a guy over. Literally no one will turn down playing some kirby super star, cuphead, or if they're not normalgays, majuu ou.
Special bonus for the fujo girlies super butouden.
>no one posted the xbox 360 controller
Good morning sirs!
>wired
hard pass. This isn't the early the 1900s anymore anon
Blame Microsoft for that, they're hyper-autistic about only firstparty controllers being wireless on Xbox. 8bitdo making a wireless arcade stick for Xbox was a pretty big deal, and that one's probably only wireless because it's a fightstick or arcade stick and not a traditional controller.
Any big difference between the one and series xbox controllers? I've been eyeing the phantom white for a while.
series X controller is smaller, designed to fit in an 8 year old's hands.
series X supports usb-c
share button.
I prefer the Series, though sometimes I press a bumper by accident. For some reason the xbox one controllers have worse wireless in my experience, though this may be irrelevant for your setup.
the series X has something called "Dynamic input latency". Some moronic non-meaning phrase to obscure what is probably just a more up to date bluetooth protocol.
Why not the Elite controller?
It's super expensive for some back paddles that are just macro buttons. Really isn't worth it for 80% of people.
I can get a controller that has analog triggers, back paddles AND gyro for $50.
anyone who complains about shitty gear just streight up suck at games, i play on an xbox one controller thats 6 years old, on a 75 inch tv n still top leaderboard most games in MW2, Warzone and Apex, yall are just shit and need to spend so much on the niftiest shit just to compete with me yall are fkn trash.
What percentage of the people you're playing against do you think are not using whatever controller came with their last console and a laggy TV
The ultimate goat
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LRTTGM6/
Best controller I ever had. It's the Razor version of the XboX controller, but so much better. Literally the best controller ever.
>needs a Windows Store app
nah
>wired
I'm not clicking but did you post one of the ones they actually fixed the deadzones on or told anyone who bought it to go frick themselves
What controller has the longest analog triggers?
the blue, pink, and galactic purple PS5 controllers all come from improved batches and have the lowest possible input lag out of any modern first party controller.
I noticed through the years that I much prefer the PlayStation layout than the xbox one, so it's my go-to, especially after I noticed just how bad Switch Pro is on the input lag front when I played DMC1 on PC. Actually unusable.
they're also on sale for 49,99 in Amazon atm.
really? the wacky ones performed better? man I planned to get the black one but your post intrigued me
its in the model number. CFIZCT1A on the bottom are the newer ones. i got a black ps5 one on sale last Christmas and its the new revision, thank god. didn't know about this until today.
Depends what you're into and what you're willing to spend.
>1st party, 3rd party , or does it matter?
>Price range and related query standard versions or "premium" versions if available?
>Asymmetric or Symmetric stick layout?
>Motion control/gyro, HD rumble, analog triggers, rear buttons/paddles, modding/swappable component design, or other special or desirable features?
There's a lot out there but most if it is garbage unless price is all you care about. I generally think sticking to the major 1st party and just a handful of dependable 3rd parties are the way to go.
dualshock 4 if you use steam and emulators. works great for all genres.
series x pad if you're on windows 11 and like the share button (it only works on win11 for me), and play on gamepass. the triggers are nice in forza horizon.
why is there no competitive market for pc game controllers, like keyboards and mice?
Dualsense
T4 Kaleid
>1000hz polling
>hall effect joystick
>Mechanical face buttons
>back buttons
>$40
No.
Show me another controller that has 1k polling and hall effect joysticks. Oh you cant.
>wired
Of course it has 1000Hz polling rate with wired but I am not buying a wired controller in 2023 so frick off, shill.
Switch Pro controller for sure
