it's like a grim-darker TR x Zelda, where you dynamically swap between the "real" world and the spiritual version, solving puzzles and platforming challenges.
the OST was bugged last time i tried to play the PC version, had to settle with the PSX one if you want to hear the actual game's OST and not the same ambient/combat song repeated for the whole game
Quite possibly the best writing in video games, quality-wise. The gameplay is dated (and don't you frickin' tell me it isn't, I played it way back when it came out) and requires an adjustment from modern games, but it's a solid experience of its own kind. PC port was actually of the lower-visual-quality version of the game.
I liked the idea that the enemies were immortal so you had to kill them "creatively". Wish that trend continued with the sequels. But hey, at least SR2 had better puzzles and Defiance had, umm..., more Kain, I guess.
>play blood omen >love it >hyped to play soul reaver after seeing how loved it is >major downgrade in every single aspect >don't like it at all
I don't get it
I prefer BO over SR but i can enjoy both. They share many of the same qualities, but do feel very different at the same time. I just think it sucks BO is so overlooked.
Call me a zoomer, I really dont see what's so good about it >Life mechanic is novel but it gets fricking annoying when Im just exploring or trying to do a puzzle >When you jump you either make travel half a meter of 15 meters of distance with no inbetween >Locking on makes you walk, hitboxes are not well defined, whether or not I hit the enemy felt like rng and I fought better by simply running around flailing my weapon until I was able to impale or burn the enemy. >No subtitles
Also this one is more of a modern complaint, the game wont launch normally so I had to delve into the Steam folders to use another icon which works correctly but Steam doesnt record for some reason.
I need to finish the gameS because my best friend bought me 3 of them. I just(as in, last thing I did, like half a year ago) finished the Cathedral and it was one of the most tedious experiences ever. Also I cant really take seriously the power of these millenia old villains when they get destroyed by spikes falling on them or throwing their own bombs at them.

Give the game some more time, anon. Fairly early on into the game you'll unlock a way to sustain yourself in the real world indefinitely.
Redpill me on it. Is the PC port good?
Emulate it.

PC port had an update that even supports controller now. I played it again and it ran fine.
Played it recently for the first time. I installed some kinda unofficial patch and it worked great

I thought the Dreamcast version was the one that plays the music correctly
Leave thinking to people with brains.
God tier voice work. The series is supposed to be "Zelda, but for adults"

Kain refused the sacrifice.
I don't care what anyone says about gameplay, strategic impalement and world shifting puzzles will always kick ass.
To be honest the gameplay in the entire series aged like milk, but they're still serviceable enough for you to enjoy the rest.
it's alright
It's great with the SR1 patch

I remember getting hard filtered after getting the swimming power up and having no clue what to do next, never went past that part

>unreal
because... modern games are much better?
Is the movement still orthodirectional?
Absolute kino voice acting in these games
you can't get the full series anymore on steam until you bought them before hand.
