Technically Donghua, but Warriors of the Nile 2 demo was fun. It was also heavy on cryptic Engrish which is a dealbraker unless this is fixed in the full version which I doubt.

    Super Robot Wars/Taisen
    Advance Wars
    FF Tactics
    Ogre Battle/Tactics
    Gihren's Greed
    Fire Emblem
    Lost Technology
    Shining somethingoranother
    Suikoden
    The Koei Games

Alice soft games like Rance/Daiteikoku if you want to fap too.

CK2 has a OK anime portrait mod for vanilla, one that adds tohouland with anime pictures, and a anime portrait conversion for a Samurai mod.

There aren't any. Strategy games didn't take off in Japan. Heck, it doesn't even have a specific name and is just called "simulation game". Imagine your whole genre being lumped in with goat simulator, the sims, and animal crossing. It's over anon, accept it and play bad games (there are quite a few like whatever the guy who made lotus craft is cooking), mobile garbage, vaguely strategy-ish (rance lmao) or mod anime into a "real" strategy game.

dude there are tons of japanese strategy games. most of them they didnt bother to translate because they thought americans are too casual for them

NTA but the only one I know about is Daisenryaku. Though from what I hear about it you'd probably be better off just playing Advance Wars.
There's also the older pre-GBA Nintendo Wars games which weren't translated and the Nectaris/Military Madness series but again AW pretty much wipes the floor with all of them.

There are plenty if you want to go a bit retro, but most of them are untranslated.

I simply hate retro. I don't even play games that I used to in my childhood. They all aged terribly.

How does this relate to strategy games?
They fundamentally haven't changed at all since the tabletop hex and counter days. The only real innovation computers brought was real-time gameplay and maybe proper FOW mechanics but even all that is more than 30 years old.

It's not like starcraft 2 would feel the same as red alert 1 just because they both have fog of war, base building and gameplay in the general sense. I hate how older games feel as well as how annoying they tend to be. You wouldn't feel the same though because you aren't zoomer enough. Let's just try to accommodate me being a moron this one time.

I can sort of see what you mean in relation to RTS but japan doesn't have much to offer in that genre. It's almost all turn-based and tends to feel retro even when relatively new.
I haven't played but I think Battalion Wars on GC was supposed to be a kind of arcadey RTS type of thing.

Its such a shame that weeaboo fricks refuse to translate any Japanese PC game that isn't pornography

        Anonymous

It isn't that simple anon, take Gihren Greed for example, it took years to make something relatible functional in the PSP version and it still won't probably be fully translated.

The problem of most of those games isn't translating what is written but how utterly wack the code used is, to a point you can't change a word without having to rewrite the entire engine

Funny thing is that game IS pornography, and was remade and translated. The problem was, most people did not really want to sit though long tactical missions to get a 2 pictures of a girl being tentacled.
