I was considering a console because I missed physical media but not much releases on disc these days. It's mostly goyslop and big releases. The switch however gets most of the physical releases these days.
The only reason to still invest is due to your library still being on Xbox. I think that is probably stopping people from switching to some degree.

The entire world saw the Xbox brand for being all digital and they have been punished with two consecutive losses and the impact is so severe this time they don't have enough people to buy games so developers are not releasing games on Xbox anymore. Being digital and not releasing exclusives is why Xbox brand is in disarray that they're becoming Microsoft Gaming Publisher and not Xbox anymore, brand is dead.

The new SeX was supposed to go all digital based on the internal leaks we had so it's clearly in the pipeline. The S is also their best selling system out of the two, and both Best Buy and Walmart lost their Xbox games and are heavily discounting what's left for $5. They're also heavily pushing GamePass which further adds to the idea they're going to do that.
There's no way they support physical. Nintendo is going to clearly support it, and Sony's internal numbers from the Insomniac leak show us physical is still a huge market, sometimes up to 60% of a title's sales, so it would be extremely dumb for them to back off on it as well.

The Insomniac leak showed physical is still a huge amount of the sales for any game, and they got tons of pushback on the PS5 refresh for the detachable drive requiring you to go online to pair the system.

Sony will absolutely still have physical, they fricking own the Bluray format. The fact you don't need to create an account or connect the PS5 online to install and play the games is also something I'll give them credit for.

I really don't see a reason to buy one when everything is also on PC, where you also get access to a whole number of titles you wouldn't on the Xbox and you have all the other benefits of a powerful home computer.

Sony has already said we're half way through the generation even though 2020-2022 effectively should not be counted due to supply issues. We haven't even had devs stop making PS4 versions of games yet, I have no idea why they're so delusional. We're only realistically a year and a half into this gen due to the supply issues of Covid but they're talking like we're four years into it despite PS4 and Xbone games still being released.
There's also no reason to, unless they introduce some sort of gimmick. They're aren't going to get much more powerful any time soon, since they need to keep them affordable.

The collection only includes 1, and a digital voucher for the eu version of the game. Believe me I looked into it. I really wanted to go console for the physical media but it's disappearing on the console for some reason.
The Switch version of the collection is identical so that's more of a Capcom problem than a Playstation problem. Again, what you're encountering is a fairly rare issue with physical copies. Most of the time you have to go with Red Art Games, LRG, SRG, SLG, IA8B, or some other lesser known limited run people for indie stuff. Overall I haven't really had an issue personally outside of a few of the FF titles which got physicals you import from Asia or PAL regions only on Switch.

S is meant as a budget entry it's not really for the Xbros. The series X is the real PS5 competitor and it's selling less than the series S. I think one document or leak showed that the ratio is 70% for the series S to 30% for the X.

no, i bought a series x at launch because i thought getting a ps5 would be too much of a pain in the ass plus my ps4 pro still worked fine, and held off upgrading my pc's rx580 because of the crypto scalping going on at the time. xbox at the time seemed like a decent investment, all first party games would be going to goypass day 1 plus they had just added ea's own subscription, the hardware seemed stronger on paper than the ps5's, and it had backwards compatibility and i assumed that would be a program they kept supporting for years. since then i've been immensely disappointed. sure all their first party games come to goypass but there's hardly any and most of them suck (i have enjoyed a few here and there) despite having better specs than the ps5 it performs worse across the board for most titles (not hugely worse but still disappointing) and they stopped the backwards compatibility program which could have slightly made up for the lack of exclusive games. also a bunch of third party games seem to be skipping xbox now. i grew up gaming on console but i think this will probably the last one i buy, i have a good pc now and most exclusives end up on there after a while

I got a series s because it was cheap. Like it was $200 which is almost what I'd pay for a streaming box and a controller. It's fine I can play Ninja Gaiden Black on it which I bought over 15 years ago on the 360 marketplace. I can't do that with any of my games I bought on ps3. However unless they make a PC like console that can play steam games I don't see myself getting another one. Publishers are skipping Xbox and I don't trust MS enough to buy games for it. I just use it to play halo and rent pass. It's a shame because I loved the 360 and was an apologist for the xbone.
Gamepass is like all those other streaming services for movies in that it sucks all attention away from other games. If you are on gamepass you won't go buy other games because it feels like a waste of money. Xbox has the lowest amount of people buying games for its platform for that reason. It's no wonder Capcom and Square doesn't bother putting their games on xbox. If it isn't on gamepass why bother? Xbox is trying to give you a backlog of games so you don't go to other platforms but I think most people already have a backlog and don't want to pay for another one.

Never owned an Xbox, but as one who was primarily gaming on Nintendo hardware up until the Wii U, I honestly recommend you invest in a Gaming PC instead. If you had to at least own one console, just get the Switch 2 to compliment the PC since Nintendo is the only one keeping the majority of their major titles on their own hardware.

Microsoft isn't increasing their userbase, this is to stop the bleeding from taking losses on hardware. The new Xbox Series X, the all physical version, will now cost 599USD. Five hundred US Dollars. Think about the business, at this point they should be dropping the prices but they ain't doing so. They capitulated on being a console brand and this is their real exit strategy.

It's meant to allow regions to police their own show ratings and content, make it so that each region gets the proper licensing and everyone gets paid their fair share (Actors, companies, copyright, etc), and they also want to prevent reverse-importing and encourage buying locally.
Japan is heavily against reverse-importing because DVDs and Blu-rays of anime and live action shows cost half of what they cost if they just import from the US and a lot of these 1 cour 12 episode shows live and die based on those sales since their margins are low and based entirely on DVD/Blu-ray sales and merch. If you're into Tokusatsu shows you have people importing Mill Creek's Ultraman blurays from the US because they come in steelbooks, they're a full season of the show, and they cost like $20 with like $10 shipping to Japan vs. ￥8000+ for a basic DVD set in a random DVD box.

Depends on the quality and the price. If they can be as competitive as the Steam Deck and they figure out Windows' issues with working in that form factor then sure, why not? I was using my Xbox One until the beginning of this year when I won a Series X. It's nice and all, but I barely play it. I got several years of GP heavily discount last summer and plan on using it for whatever games Switch 1/2 don't get. Looking forward to Kunitsu-Gami next month.
