Rented Oni for PC once in 2000 but couldn't get it to work (I was 12). I remember seeing Messiah in gaming magazines but never played it. Dunno what Slave Zero is.
I never heard of that either but it isn’t impossible. I also call bullshit because I have never once heard of this. You either bought or pirated pc games.
Plausibly so long as you had the cd-key and the disc there was nothing stopping a business from renting out pc games, I just never heard of this or seen this ever happen.
Yes, the game store near me had PC games available for renting. I rented Final Fantady VIII many times before my parents finally bought it for me. I didn't know renting pc games was seen as weird or rare.
It's funny that you mention Microplay, because that is actually the place I was renting pc games from. Was Microplay a chain? I only knew about the location in Dartmouth, NS.
Roblox had a death sound effect which was sampled from a Messiah FMV and existed for over a decade and a quarter. That was until Tommy Talarico recently found out about it and wanted to start a legal battle over it. Things settled after Roblox got rid of it.
Never heard much of the first two but I remember Messiah being talked up like it was going to revolutionize videogames then it got delayed again and again before simply forgetting about it, along with everybody else.
>but I remember Messiah being talked up like it was going to revolutionize videogames
I remember that too. In hindsight they said that about a lot of games. Technology was improving so rapidly that it was believable I guess.

Oni is clearly a rushed game that had a ton of content cut prerelease, like all Bungie games. I like it a lot though. If it just had a little more time it could have been a classic as the combat is great.
I kind of like messiah but it's very old school: if you try to use mouse to play it's unplayable
it feels like they tacked it on sometime as the 'new fad' that was mouse aiming at the time
I had Oni on PS2 and it sucked. Boring levels & generic gameplay, even for the time. Cover was cool though, that Larry Bundy Jr guy on YouTube made the artwork if I'm not mistaken.

Is this a bot or larp? Rented a PC game?

>Final Fantady VIII
Lol. I think the cd key would only matter for online games, but it wouldn't matter for single player games.
Microplay in Leafland had PC rentals back in the day. This was back when PC games had big boxes for retail. Was interesting for sure

Everyone know Messiah now because of the whole "OOF" thing
>Everyone know Messiah now because of the whole "OOF" thing
