Playing anything not made by Miyazaki in the Souls "genre" is getting a knockoff. That's why Elden Ring hurts so much. If I want to start up and play again I have 100 hours of gameplay to look forward, a huge slog and a timesink of pain and torture.

The games are more fun when they're condensed like all the others are, where you can complete them in a reasonable amount of time while exploring everything. Elden Ring has the objectively worst fashion, the worst originality, the worst pacing and content, and it was upheld by George R.R. Martin, without whom it would be called the worst most bloated Souls game.
