Absolutely, they are the best in market for mid range builds, save for black Friday deals on 4070s. AMD cpus are the best gaming focused cpus hands down.

Whenever a game has some niche issue that never gets patched and is a pisstake to troubleshoot on your end, it's AMD

The PS5 is a Zen 2 Ryzen 3700 plus a RX 6800, with some cost saving to make the PS5 yield/cheap enough.
You can buy higher end hardware from that from AMD. Even more since both of these are now 2 hardware generations old.

    >Is that worth it
So long Nvidia and Intel tax exist? Yes.

      Anonymous

      >RX 6800

No bro, it's like a base version RX 6700 (non XT)

        More like
        >with some cost saving to make the PS5 yield/cheap enough.
Same on the Xboner the One Bone.

Still, the argument don't really change: Your goal when buying/assembling PC hardware for a game rig is to be on par or above the PS5s specs, so your performance isn't shit.
And the jump from PS4 to PS5 was a lot smaller than PS3 to PS4 when a lot of release games basically required the PC equitant of a super duper computer.

      >Ryzen 3700
      6.5 cores used for gaming
      much lower clocks
      much lower l3 cache
      outperformed by 3600

      >Intel tax

Intel is objectively inferior for many generations. E/P core architecture is mediocre for desktops and they are 3 lithography generations behind meaning their 180 tdp cpus are barely above AMD's 65 tdp cpus.

    cpu is totally worth
shits on everything and is decently priced
that specific gpu is meh , amd is all about under-pricing the competition and that one is basically a worse 4080

AMD fundamentally beats every new Nvidia card but the 4090 when it comes to pure raster performance in every price range and the 7800X3D is the best gaming CPU on the market. If you want a cheaper CPU, Intel has valid offers. If you're an upscaling/raytracing believer, Nvidia is probably the better buy across the board. They're not even truly competing in the same category right now, hopefully they reunite with AMD or Intel becomes viable next gen to drive prices down.

Since, this is the 1,000th time you've made this post, I'll give you the 1,000 same answer.
If you're going to use Linux, yes.
If you're going to use Windows, use an AMD CPU and an nShitia GPU for less issues.

no fricking moron don't make that mistake

for rasterization, they're the best value.

    for RT, they're bad.

for upscaling and frame generation, they're worse than nvidia.

for 4K, they're the only option until the 4080 and 4090, because nvidia gimps their GPUs with 12GB VRAM and 4k textures won't hold. (4060 ti 16gb is too slow for 4k)

objectively nothing else to say about the topic

  18. 7 months ago
    Anonymous

no because everything under AMD always fricking breaks and theres always driver issues.
the whole "price to performance" always gets brought up and yeah, youre going to be paying a lot less for almost the same power but the fact that nothing fricking works under AMD makes it not worth it.
just pay the nvidia israelite tax

    For a linux build yes

For CPUs yes. GPU is dependent upon if you think you'll find use for Nvidia's more advanced feature set. Other than being kind of shit for upscaling and ray tracing, they're great.

      >MY brand is better than YOUR brand
all brands are shit. both amd and nvidia are price fixing cartels because intel dont offer any competition and no one is going to dare piss off china by enforcing the law.
in terms of actual performance currently nothing beats the 7800X3D for games while nothing comeptes with 4090s only nivida offer high end gpus but amd 7800XT is fine, just a rebranded 6800XT which is also a great gpu for the price

7800XT has av1 encoding, the AI cores that will be used for some driver upscaling or something, and superior efficiency

idk why there has been dedicated AMD marketing threads for the last 2 weeks. To any actual humans here, they make amazing CPUs and dogshit GPUs. fullstop. no if ands or butts.

even in instances where an AMD gpu should be equal to Nvidia, it will underperform in game because all games are made with Nvidia in mind.

"driver has recovered from an error. would you like to send a report?" is a phrase you will read at least once a week with an amd gpu.

    t. swore off Nvidia in 2009, came back in 2023, and regret all the wasted time, lost games, etc.

      Anonymous

That just plain isn't true until tech like dlss or ray tracing.

        Anonymous

You should buy Nvidia BECAUSE of DLSS alone. My 4070 can do 100fps with max settings and max raytracing with it turned on.

I'd be surprised if an AMD card could do 30.

amd cpu and gpu marketshare shrink.

        Anonymous

I got two marketer responses but didn't reply to not bump the thread. the marketer saw it was about to drop off and bumped it from page 9. fricking wild. if amd worked as much on working drivers as they did on shilling broken GPUs they would have more marketshare.

Depends on price. 12700KF is half the price of the 7800X3D. 13700K or KF is 2/3rds the price.
Not all games benefit from the extra cache and there's no extra cores (eCores) to pin things to which are really handy.
