Do you need to move around from time to time? Then could be useful. Do you game 99% at home? Then it's a waste

No I think he means what he says, now that ha mid-tier desktop GPU costs as much as a full gaming desktop PC back in 2018/19.

Low end desktop cpu+gpu = high end laptop cpu+gpu.
And of course if you want to game at 4k ultra settings there's no laptop on the market capable of that.

My area 51m plays rdr2 at 4k with around 70fps.

Waste of money. They scream like hell in situations where full atx wouldnt even bother to spin GPU fans.

You also would need external screen and keyboard as otherwise your neck would be broken.

They are useful if you treat them like little computers in small flat cases, and use them with external monitors and input devices. Otherwise you'll get carpal tunnel syndrome and break your neck.

Their batteries are just UPS crutches don't expect mobile operation.

Honestly if you don't need a Nvidia GeForce GPU just get a high end business notebook. better build better service better portability and in recent gens decent iGPUs that can drive 4k.

I made the mistake of buying one during lockdown to try it out. You can spend the money better.

1080p 120hz laptops are good because the gpu isn't so powerful it'll only give you 2 hours of battery life. anything higher then it's not really worth it honestly.t

I've got an asus advantage edition, Ryzen CPU, Radeon CPU. Works well. On arch with mesa-git. The Bluetooth isn't working, think in kernel 5.15 it will but I don't use it so doesn't bother me. Otherwise I don't have the RGB LEDs on. Only other thing is I have to power off to restart otherwise it crashes. But yeah definitely worth the money. If you don't travel constantly and have an actual house then a desktop will be better.

its a niche thing, you need a powerful computer and also want portability. good for someone who travels a lot, or maybe a college student. some people also like to game in bed or different spots around their house with a lap desk.
