The one liners have aged tremendously. And the game part is not good.
i'm neutral about his games and the one lines get old fast
The gameplay is top notch, the graphics are awesome, the level design is kino, and after giving us all this they give the main character absolutely fricking hilarious one liners. Its a masterpiece, end of thread.
go back to your retirement home gex you shouldnt be using the internet since the "accident"
Jealous because you will never be picrel
I played the game boy version of this game and HATED it.
enter the gecko had very strong atmosphere for a mediocre mario 64 knockoff.
So Kino..
beat gex 64 not too long ago and loved it
Does it play better than Croc?
music, levels, and controlling gex himself control better, but atleast croc had consistent predictable camera control.
in one of the space levels, camera is unusable.
The 3D ones were good. The PS1 games specifically, since they come with a lot more one-liners, where-as on the N64, he ends up repeating lines constantly.
They may not be masterpieces but I can't play them without the one liners. Somebody here on /vr/ suggested the PAL versions and it's just way too quiet, then when he does talk it's not as funny imo
The first game is a fun platformer that gets pretty difficult later on.
The other two collect-a-thon games are incredibly solid as well.
You also either love Gex's totally dated pop culture jokes or despise them, though honestly IMO I find it stupid charming. I love that stupid gecko.
play Awesome Possum
it's good because of the gameplay. try comboing jump on multiple enemies. a lot of stages were designed to get to secrets to need to pull off those crazy jumps, and if you frick up speed you will lose momentum
Gex was a rip-off of the Geico lizard. Shame on you, Capcom!
Actually they're both separately based on gold dust geckos.
I loved the hidden ending of the first game. It’s frustrating to unlock because you have to collect all the secret remotes in one sitting to unlock the secret world since the game doesn’t save those (at least on the 3DO version). It’s worth it though, I actually laughed for once.
wait, really? so a version that has save feature... doesnt save remote pieces. ps1 did save them with unique passwords
Which one is better, Gex 2 or Gex 3?
3 is the better, more polished game, 2 had better themes and atmosphere.
Lots of games like this where the sequel is objectively better and yet the simpler game is more enjoyable to play
This pretty much. 2 has a horrible camera and its fixed in 3, but less wall climbing which is essential in Gex games
How did it go from an “all ages” rating to a T?
funny story
i asked the same question and was told the only reason it got a T was because of a promotional demo included on the disc.
the game itself is still KA.
tbh a T rating seems very appropriate for gex 2.
>NO PREMARITAL GEX
i guess technically in spite.
the first Gex game is a 2D platformer where the gimmick is you can stick to walls, ceilings and the background. it's perfectly fine.
they added the one-liners because it was government mandated that all 90s platformers had to have 'tude.
Gex 2 was fun
when i was younger i loved gex, and grew tired of mario 64 and craved new levels in a similar form.
as an adult, gex has not aged well, except maybe gex 1. clunk ahoy.
