Yeah, AoE4 definitely wasn't a trainwreck as far as any decent standard goes.

Maybe if DE didn't exist AoE4 would gave been received better despite it's faults as people would still want something modern, but setting it out to directly compete with a game in the same series still supported and modernised was a terrible business decision.
But that’s questionable business decision is on MS, Relic just made the game and I can’t say AoE4 is as bad as DoW3 by any measure
DoW3 is objectively bad and even Lelic themselves have admitted it, but I can't say the same about CoH3 or AoE4. Although I do prefer the older titles, these aren't bad. Some of the ideas are good, they're playable and they actually have communities.

Afraid not, something people seem to forget is that good games aren't made by brands, they're made by good dev teams, and the guys who made Relic what it was are long gone. You have to let go.
But smart companies would hire people who represent their company and it's heritage. Sadly almost all the largish dev studios have gone woke and now hire women with blue hair and men who call themselves women. If we were being honest the golden age of of creative design in gaming the dev teams were 95% white men, and that has some of it's own faults I admit like the overt focus on hyper sexualization that we experienced but it was still a special time in gaming.

AoE4 is good but they always planned to abandon it or "soft" abandon it since they were working on CoH3
CoH3 is stupid. There's little to be salvaged. Surprise to no one, AoE4 and CoH3 look also bad even if they played alright. I don't know what's with these dumbasses leaving the fantasy of the RTS experience halfway through with shit effects and shit ambience. Everythings washed up and the explosions or blood isn't quite there or not at all.
