Are there ANY examples where going for remasters/remakes is better than playing the original game?

according to Ganker Resident Evil remake is better than the original (I don't really agree)
Same tbh. It's good unlike virtually every other remake, but it's not a replacement for the original, and frankly I still prefer the original. Megaman Powered up is another I think is great, but not a replacement for the original.
I hate the aesthetics of the remake. It looks like a 2spoopky4u movie set instead of a slightly weird mansion like in the original.
all the Resident Evil remakes
this is true
REmakes 2-3-4 are completely different games from the originals that don't even try to mimic the originals outside of their story and aesthetics.
unfortunate timing
I am of the opinion that OoT 3DS is slightly better than the original. Same for Kirby Superstar Ultra.
AoE2 Definitive Edition
I'm playing resident evil 2 remake right now. I'm scared shitless.
1 remake is famous for being pretty and polished. 2 remake was loved at release but I really want to remind people to go back and replay it on hardcore mode. It's some peak gaming. That team had years to balance it just right. 4 variations of campaign, multiple side story missions.
3 remake is dogshit. It was rushed and imbalanced. 4 remake is cool I guess but it's not as immaculately hand designed, it just took an existing great game/scenario and redid it. Same camera angles, same guns. Hardcore mode is too hard on new game but too easy on new game+
I played the dragons Quest 3 GBC remake rather than the NES version. I've dabbled in all the Pokemon remakes for one reason or another, (trading, convenience, what have you) it's not that it invalidates the original, it's just a different way to play it. Whenever I play any game I find the best version that suits my needs at that point in time. I'll romhack or patch a game if need be. I'll never understand purity autism some of Ganker has. Actually I do understand it, because I used to be that way but then I realized I should play what I enjoy and what is best and most convenient for my tastes and sensibilities. Play for yourself, no one else. But do challenge yourself and play something inspiring or out of your comfort zone. If a good remake is all you have access to, don't limit yourself.
I play CTR remake sometimes because it has a lot of love put into it and it has online and lots of characters. Doesn't mean it's BETTER than the original. The original is classic and pure. It's really a matter of whether I have my PS3 or PS5 plugged in which one I play.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered
Any remake/remaster done before 2015 has a good chance of being good.
Name 5.
It was just a general rule of thumb since 2015 is the rough turning point at which point Black folk who hate video games and gamers took over the industry at large.
re2,4 remake is better than og tank shit
it's not, it's mediocre action slop
Nta but cram a sock in it, bozo. RE2 remake is excellent. Original RE2 is excellent as well. I suspect you haven't actually played these games
You too. You're both wrong, re4 isn't tank and it was always action
I just want the REfanbase to get along and appreciate the great games from both eras. I guess that's too much to ask
I'm stuck on the shitty fricking Sherry section right now but that part sucked on PS1 too
Oh dude zero mission is #1 best remake. Yea NES created the genre and is historically relevant but I'd much rather replay zero mission. It's so snappy.
Spyro reignited does nothing to really justify itself and toys for Bob has less artistic vision than insomniac did. I platinumed the remakes but I'll never play them again, the originals are superior. I like Castlevania 1 more than 4 which I don't even consider a remake really, it's quite different.
Pokemon gen 1 and 2 remakes trade soul for convenience. It's a tough choice but understandable to prefer the new ones since they are quite good. At this one int with pkmn I'm all about romhacks tho the best experience.
I didn't play the original but I'm pretty sure going for SNES DQ3 instead of NES was the right choice.
Overall it is rare however though.
Technically Punch Out Wii but it's questionable whether this game can be called a remake when it has so many new things
too casual
most of the pokemon remakes
Realta Nua with the sex scenes patched back is the only right way of playing FSN.
Here's my list of remakes that are better than the original:
>Metroid Zero Mission
>StarOcean 1
>Spyro Trilogy Reignited.
>Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen.
>Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold
>Castlevania 4
>Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
>Dragon Quest 5
>DuckTales
>Trials of Mana
>Link's Awakening Switch
>Star Fox 64
>Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
>Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
>Lunar: Eternal Blue
>Spyro Trilogy Reignited.
>Link's Awakening Switch
Please die
>>Star Fox 64
I was going to ask why but now I remember that 64 is a remake of the SNES Star Fox...
>TFW Nintendo remade the same game 4 times
And only worked once.
to be fair fans hated everything that wasn't the remakes
Devil Survivor: Overclocked is essentially a straight upgrade to the original. tbh 2: Break Record's a similar situation.
Skyrim
Super Robot Wars OGs
Final Fantasy 7. The remakes are full of soul. They even added Nero from Dirge to the Interlude.
While Trials of Mana is a amazing Remake, it´s what it is, but it doesn´t replace the original.
Both are different as in one is comepletely 2d and the other´s fully in 3d.
The OG locations are beatufully modeled, true to the originals and the Remake even has a Postgame dungeon. The only thing is consider lame in the remake, they butchered a optional superboss but he´s still there, not so super but whatever.
Since you don´t play the game for the challenge, i couldn´t care less.
Command and Conquer remastered.
Openxcom.
is here a game dev - for a question?
Shut the frick up already.
I would say GTA V for PS5 is better than GTA V for PS3
Odin sphere
The remakes of Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Destiny are significantly better than the originals.
ff6
Tons
Pokemon FRLG
Pokemon HGSS
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Mario RPG
FF4 DS
Zero Mission
Samus Returns
Nightmare in Dreamland
Blaster Master Zero
Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition
Black Mesa is a fan remake that was never supposed to actually be finished, and then it was finished and it was good.
