Are there any rts games with engaging pvp?
All games currently are only about who can follow the meta build order checklist faster which is insanely boring.
Something like MoW or Wargame is going into the right direction but those games are pretty dead.
Never had a problem getting 1v1 or 2v2 on Wargame RD or Steel Division 2. The player base is kinda small, I agree and matches are often one sided if you are playing with randos against regulars. Warno seems interesting but I want to wait for Broken Arrow and choose between the two.
im a n00b to SD2, and have been playing against the AI to get my bearings. how fricked am i if i try against real people? should i just play 10v10s?
Pretty fricked. You are matched against people with 500-100 hrs. 10v10s are pretty garbage. You can do well but your teammates can frick things up, not to mention cheaters
>cheaters
is it that bad?
Skill issue. There are no aimbots for SD2. The only problema de 10v10s are low end PCs and internet.
Nah, games have been on discount so many times that you can just buy another copy and play on both sides. Makes sniping with arty super easy.

devs these days just copy the formula of the games that are already successful, so you will barely see any kind of innovation.
>MoW or Wargame is going into the right direction but those games are pretty dead
define "dead", playerbase is small but you can still have quickly a 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 in both games or even 10v10 in Wargame
Starcraft and Starcraft 2
>b-but muh goo-
No, stop trying to play like a pro and just enjoy the game. There's nothing that even comes close to these two.
All you morons need to stop b***hing and play Zero-K already.
Pros/cons over BAR?
They both look like TA:Spring clones, which is just a 3D TA clone in the first place
Both of them are based on an engine derived from Spring.
Community-wise, I believe BAR has more players.
Mechanics-wise, Zero-K is far less execution focused and has far more opportunities for flexibility in strategies rather than following the same build order every time. Most ZK units have fairly well-defined roles based on the physics engine as much as their actual stats, which encourages lots of rock-paper-scissors type maneuvering and planning as the game gets going. It also has widgets that give individual units AI that do acceptably decent micro, which reduces how much APM matters.
Starcraft is the ultimate asiaticclicker game, meta speed game. Avoid.
uh Mechabellum?
Holy shit that is one reddit-tier image it must be at least a decade old
It's older than you are, zoomoid.
>All games currently are only about who can follow the meta build order checklist faster
wow yeah who thought competitive RTS would involve mastering planning and execution, weird
Wargame red dragon is far from dead
Every competitive game has a 'build order' of sorts. It's just that the ones in RTSes are far more noticeable, less flexible, and less fun to put up with. RTSes also busier to play so if you're slow, you're going to lag behind.
I fricking hate the IS-3. I fricking hate the IS-3. I kept getting uptiered to it in Warthunder and there is absolutely no way any tier 4 vehicle German vehicle can scratch it frontally.
>Plays the most handheld nation
>Bursts into tears the first time he meets a tank on his nation's powerlevel.
Sad!
