This. I played the PS4 trilogy collection but don't pay for PS+ so my experience was entirely offline and never felt like it was missing anything. I see other peoples' clips and there's writing all over the ground, phantoms constantly running right in front of the camera and constant screaming over "twink" invaders and scumbag builds. It really seems like it just annihilates the atmosphere these games try so hard to build.
Souls PvP I never got. It just always looks like the most messy shit where someone is hammering R1 as the other rolls 20 times across a room. I can see the appeal in invading and co-oping. Always comes across as people want this to be legit but lacks the fundamentals for really clean back and forth. AC PvP I get cause it is basically Gundam VS, but the customisation will mean if it ever got taken seriously it'd be 99% mirror matches and probably a pretty lame meta.

Bro it was one (1) generation, and while I honestly wish they kept more from v/vd like big team pvp and coop on all missions, Armored Core has never been about pvp. Yeah I went to a handful of splitscreens and console links on PS2, 4/fa was fun for a little bit, and v/vd could have been GOAT if bandai actually released the patches for NA, but they didn't, and the others were just accents on an experience that was always primarily single player. If the PvP is ass we've lost nothing, it's a shame because there was so much to gain. The difference between goty and gotyay, because I can tell you I'll still be booting this shit up in ten years, I just don't know if it'll be more or less frequently than fa yet.

It's a reboot, differences from decade+ old games aren't inherently bad. Even though I typically prefer retro games, I'm inclined to give this studio a little more leeway, especially when the game isn't even out yet. And I've never even played a mecha game, there are probably going to be more consumers like me buying this game than seasoned AC fans. Hopefully this doesn't result in casualization.

Not sure if it's just me, but camera movement feels really bad on controller. As if they enabled huge ass deadzones where you have to push the analog stick halfway for the game to even register an input. My controller is relatively new and barely used so that's definitely not the issue when other games work fine.
The worst part of the game thus far is that they replaced the high-intensity signature soundtrack of Armored Core with Souls-like ambience noises and orchestral sounds and it sucks ass.

This. I played the PS4 trilogy collection but don't pay for PS+ so my experience was entirely offline and never felt like it was missing anything. I see other peoples' clips and there's writing all over the ground, phantoms constantly running right in front of the camera and constant screaming over "twink" invaders and scumbag builds. It really seems like it just annihilates the atmosphere these games try so hard to build.
Souls PvP I never got. It just always looks like the most messy shit where someone is hammering R1 as the other rolls 20 times across a room. I can see the appeal in invading and co-oping. Always comes across as people want this to be legit but lacks the fundamentals for really clean back and forth. AC PvP I get cause it is basically Gundam VS, but the customisation will mean if it ever got taken seriously it'd be 99% mirror matches and probably a pretty lame meta.

Bro it was one (1) generation, and while I honestly wish they kept more from v/vd like big team pvp and coop on all missions, Armored Core has never been about pvp. Yeah I went to a handful of splitscreens and console links on PS2, 4/fa was fun for a little bit, and v/vd could have been GOAT if bandai actually released the patches for NA, but they didn't, and the others were just accents on an experience that was always primarily single player. If the PvP is ass we've lost nothing, it's a shame because there was so much to gain. The difference between goty and gotyay, because I can tell you I'll still be booting this shit up in ten years, I just don't know if it'll be more or less frequently than fa yet.

Armored Core isn't a concrete concept. FA and VD already challenged what could be considered the "norm".
It's a reboot, differences from decade+ old games aren't inherently bad. Even though I typically prefer retro games, I'm inclined to give this studio a little more leeway, especially when the game isn't even out yet. And I've never even played a mecha game, there are probably going to be more consumers like me buying this game than seasoned AC fans. Hopefully this doesn't result in casualization.

One thing I'll never understand about Ganker is that they'll post a YouTube video or a tweet as "proof" that's something is good or not and then people will pretend that whatever the screen grab says is truth. It's so strange.

I had no stutters on my i5 with 970, just average 45-60FPS performance.
That issue was not universal, a bunch of ppl had it, many didn't.
Every single PC review said the game runs flawlessly. There was even a guy playing on some shittop and it ran 60fps constantly.

I suspect this game will be more popular on consoles but it really depends on the long run.
For example DS3 was more more active on PC after the first 2-3 years with a huge dedicated PvP and invader vs ganks player base.

Sword is extremely strong but makes you very vulnerable when approaching.
If you go with a light build you'll die very easily but you'll be very mobile so it will require lots of skill to make it work.

Not sure if it's just me, but camera movement feels really bad on controller. As if they enabled huge ass deadzones where you have to push the analog stick halfway for the game to even register an input. My controller is relatively new and barely used so that's definitely not the issue when other games work fine.
