what's the point of cross gen evos when they keep doing shit like this? are they gonna cut twin beam and hyper drill in the next game to keep players from obtaining farigiraf and dudunsparce? cross gen evos that came out after gen 4 were definitely a mistake

people got filtered by the KINO gen 4 crossgens and b***hed that they "ruined muh bro" so now you only get regional evos or other gimmicks that will lock them to one game

    >farigiraf and dudunsparce
they're both shit anyway so nothing of value would be lost

They're good in doubles. Hyper Drill removes Protect, and Dudunsparce's speed tier means it can be used in Trick Room or Tailwind. Armor Tail is a fantastic ability with all the priority native to doubles.

dudunsparce is a complete meme in doubles. it's had niche use with rattled boomburst stuff. farigiraf is good with trick room and imprison though.

The worst part is that Linoone isn't even a good choice for an evolution. The contrast/relationship between it and Zigzagoon is already a complete family and the Belly Drum/Extreme Speed is already an iconic niche exclusive to them, so there was nothing to gain by expanding the line any further beyond a buff that they didn't receive.

      Also:
      >S T I L L pushing the "de nu evos are TOTALLY r-re-regional forms" lies
Except they don't evolve from Paldean Girafarig or Paldean Dunsparce. They evolve from Johtonian Girafarig and Johtonian Dunsparce.

          >Johtonian - of or pertaining to Johto
Sorry english confuses you so badly esl. But the fact they introduced critters with "Alolan/Galarian/Paldean" in their names establishes precedent for naming conventions, which can be applied retroactively to reference pokémon from earlier regions.

Says who? Yeah, maybe base Linoone didn’t get an evo in SwSh, but who’s to say it won’t get one later?

The fact they went and re-designed the entire line before adding a new evolution does.
Otherwise, they'd have just, you know, given it an actual evolution.

In the same gen that gave us regional variants of Meowth and Yamask that evolve into entirely new Pokemon rather than variants of Persian and Cogayrigus.

There's nothing stopping Hoennian Linoone from getting its own evo

Except the fact it's so radioactive, they went and made an entirely different flavour to start shilling, rather than, I repeat, giving Hoeennian Linoone an evolution.
You realise the only people who like it are the adults your age? It didn't manage to garner an audience or attract much interest with Sinnoh kids, it didn't appear in Unova, got overlooked in Kalos because the routes were so dense with a who's-who of the non-Hoenn pokédexes. And so by time they sat down to make Gen 8, they decided to re-tool it and try and make it marketable (worked, I actually used G-Ziggy, as opposed to ignoring the original flavour).

it would be another glorified shiny pokemon if it didn't have the ugly wig. it's a shit design

so according to you it is just a primeate shiny, but it's also a shit design? which one is it? unless your dumb ass thinks Primeape itself is a shit design

primeape is alright. there are certainly gen 1 pokemon that i like better than it, but it's just okay. i am complaining about annihilape because it is fricking lazy. it doesn't matter how good the original design is, recoloring the pokemon and then making only one notable change (in this case the wig) is the epitome of laziness

    It's not entirely outclassed.

Original Linoone still has its Belly Drum + Extreme Speed sweeper niche, while Obstagoon is instead a Guts wallbreaker.

Regular Linoone and Obstagoon are sidegrades with different playstyles.

at that point G-Zigzagoon and Linoone might as well be considered new pokemon and not something that is somehow related to the original evolution family

  9. 11 months ago

I think they recognized their mistake with Obstagoon, Sirfetch'd, and Mr. Rime. Farigaraf and Dundunsparce are a return to form, while Sneasler and Clodsire are alternate evolutions rather than (seemingly) blocking off the originals from evolution.

  10. 11 months ago

they had to redesign a whole evolution line to make obstagoon work even though this fits mightyena way more considering it's already got that punk rock aesthetic going on

  11. 11 months ago

I would assume Farigiraf and Dudunsparce will be permanent since the forms they evolve from are just the normal pokemon.

I hate these dogshit new evos that were very clearly designed by different people 30 years after the original and slap on some extraneous design element for literally no reason. Mankey has frickall to do with ghosts or death

I don't know what's funnier, you trying to pretend that Steelix is anywhere near as bad as Obstagoon, or you calling it "bullshit" that Onix got a badass steel-coated monster to evolve into.

  14. 11 months ago

Not only that, but they retconned it so that the Zigzagoon line is actually native to Galar, and it's the "original" that's actually the regional variant.

So when they adapted to other regions, they became weaker due the environment and competition being less harsh, and no longer needed to evolve past Linoone to survive
