I'm a burger that works with a few remote aussies and they completely revitalised our awkward as frick zoom meetings with how casual they are dealing with each other, the first few weeks they were dropping c**t this, c**t that (but with so many different meanings depending on context) and everyone was getting offended, but by about 3-4 weeks in the meetings were a lot more relaxed, chilled, everyone felt comfortable, even the lowliest new people would pipe up when they wouldn't dare to speak up on issues before, aussies have this weird ability to become a campfire that everyone just sort of gathers around. I don't even think they realise it half the time.

It's because we don't have a tech industry and even a low level US tech job that pays 100K-150k US is around 150k - 230k AUD which is good money. A lot of us set ourselves up in Texas, dodge a lot of personal income tax, work remotely from Aus, enjoy US salaries. It's that or the mines.
