I think you're purposefully excluding a lot of context so that you can spin a narrative.
you would think but no
That's basically what happens
She sucks and fricks to get close to the guy who killed her dad or something
be pampered woman with no skills, provider dies and you have to make money. makes a lot of sense.
Why were the first game's characters so much more memorable than the second games despite me feeling the second game was better overall?
Is it just because it was a new IP so it stuck with me more the first time around?
I couldn't even finish 2 before losing interest
Having 8 separate stories sounds cool in theory but in the end you end up with a party that doesn't have much unifying them besides the game itself deciding to put them all in the same party
If anything I think Octopath would have benefited from a more Live A Live approach where the scenarios were more distinct and separated from each other, each being their own journey.
Instead of trying to juggle 8 stories at the same time, which is just kind of shit and fails to keep you engaged.
Dropped 1 after completing one single character story around 30 hours in before dropping it, way too long and late game fights were cancer
Also the fact your characters didn't level up unless you used them made everything a hazzle
I think it's stylistical. First game had a very specific low medieval aesthetic, and the characters tried their best to follow suit. This, although it made them a bit similar, also helped to ground both them and the world more.
Octo2 is, on the other hand, a bit of a kitchen sink and balls to the wall stuff. My main guy is Sweeney Todd with magical powers locked in an icy prison mining dynamite, my second guy is an inquisitor investigating a cult (actually one of my favourites, reminds me of Octo1), third girl is the most favourite and special thief from a crime ring specifically raised for... something, fourth girl is a literal beastling from tribe with tropical aesthetic with people who can barely speak english. They don't feel like they'd be united by aesthetic, stylistic approach, place and origins. They're just too different from each other and too distinct.
they weren't. only Primrose and Olberic were more memorable than their OT2 counterparts.
2’s characters are way more memorable than 1’s, the frick are you talking about
>sex worker
You meant "prostitute", lemme fix it for you real quick.
this route was such outrageous otome nonsense lol by the end i was dying
>time travel story written by a man
"My self-insert hero outsmarts everyone in the past and becomes the coolest most awesome guy!"
>time travel story written by a woman
"My self-insert heroine meets exciting manly men and gets gang raped by villains!"
Why are they like this?
Female fantasy is to be raped
Male fantasy is to rape
Society tells us this is wrong
Nature tells us this is right
Basically
This
>waits until father dies
Considered trad nowadays
she is a dancer not a sex worker
Same thing
she is pure
In your headcanon
Read Roman history. You don't necessarily need the father to die for a girl to become a worthless prostitute.
Take a look at the rivals of the gods; hear how Claudius
Suffered. When his wife, Messalina, knew he was asleep,
She would go about with no more than a maid for escort.
The Empress dared, at night, to wear the hood of a prostitute,
And she preferred a mat to her bed in the Palatine Palace.
Dressed in that way, with a blonde wig hiding her natural
Hair, she’d enter a brothel that stank of old soiled sheets,
And make an empty cubicle, her own; then sell herself,
Her nipples gilded, naked, taking She-Wolf for a name,
Displaying the belly you came from, noble Britannicus,
She’d flatter her clients on entry, and take their money.
Then lie there obligingly, delighting in every stroke.
Later on, when the pimp dismissed his girls, she’d leave
Reluctantly, waiting to quit her cubicle there, till the last
Possible time, her taut sex still burning, inflamed with lust,
Then she’d leave, exhausted by man, but not yet sated,
A disgusting creature with filthy face, soiled by the lamp’s
Black, taking her brothel-stench back to the Emperor’s bed.
Shall I speak of spells and love-potions too, poisons brewed,
And stepsons murdered? The sex do worse things, driven on
By the urgings of power: their crimes of lust are the least of it.

I, Claudius is so fricking kino. Blatant overacting and theatrical writing just adds to it and makes it one of the kind.
>female revenge plot where she involves herself in in a sex work industry
Seems somewhat common. I suppose the idea is to show how far the character will go for revenge, so selling their body is the ultimate sacrifice for them. Doesn't make for a popular character though, hence why Prim is less popular than Tressa despite Tressa being a cardboard cutout.
Octopath sucked and I don't get why it gets praised
The graphics are ugly as shit with 3D lighting making all the spritework look terrible, the characters are morons that aren't allowed to talk to each other in organic ways, the combat is just final fantasy with a weak job system, absolutely nothing about this game stands out except for the 8-stories gimmick which actively makes the game worse.
What do people like about this crappy game?
>Noble daughters
>not all prostitutes to begin with
they're literally raised to be mail order brides for some faceless old fat man. And yes, most of the time they have no life skills so when their family falls to ruin they'll end up in a prostitutehouse even when they aren't out for revenge.
