Even in its early access, the levels presented still make for a better complete game than a lot of nu-games. Says more about the state of the industry than the quality of Ultrakill though.

the real problem with NB is that all of their shit takes forever to come out. the cynical prick part of me suspects is because the developers have to halt development once a month to add a shitty meme to their game so that it can be posted to twitter or whatever the frick. also the dumb events, why did ultrakill have a halloween event????

The games that get absorbed into the NB conglomerate just slow down on their dev drastically. Like, DUSK and Amid Evil I'm fairly sure were done, or 99% done by the time they were picked up, so they're finished. In terms of full FPS games, what else has NB published?
For fricks sake the fallen aces guy had to restart development from scratch because NB wanted him to switch to unity because that's the only engine they're competent with. Anyway. Ultrakill is still good despite NB
that all being said, I still look forward to anything with the NB label on it, so they're doing something right. feels a little like how I used to get excited for anything published by devolver digital.
