From all the heat this movie took, it bothered to try and appeal some people by removing that Jamir event because everyone in Japan by knows what hentai addicted loons have twisted the kidnapping into over decades straight.
Not from DQV, from the infamous movie that Japan hated so much they forced themselves to forget it ever existed, you don’t mess with their precious Dragon Quest franchise.
>That twist
Seriously, what were they thinking? Japan loves Dragon Quest for being as by the book Fantasy as it gets, to the point some would say generic, you can’t seriously think they would welcome a twist of that caliber.
>you can’t seriously think they would welcome a twist of that caliber
Isekai Trash mocking the DQ formula by giving the stupid hero their outfits is extremely popular tho
Not with the fricking Dragon Quest IP itself, they want DQ to remain as static as possible, not to go full meta. The Isekai sludge drowning the Light Novel and Anime market are derivative works inspired by decades of japanese endlessly consuming Dragon Quest, yet not a single one of them Nipponese has dared to wish for a meta Dragon Quest work itself that deconstructed itself.
The one DQ that tries to shake things up a little only to actually have a endgame that literally fixes those deviations? If anything DQXI reaffirms that DQ should never stray from the path it always walked on.
Every DQ after 3 has tried to shake things up to varying degrees, like 4 having multiple protagonists, or 5-8 just straight up going "You're not the hero".
It is a meta movie of all things, you wanna know more? Read below.
The movie does deviate a little from the DQV plot, Bianca is way more competent for staters, still that much is bearable; then all hell breaks loose at the final act, the movie was a subversio and meta flick all along, the whole fricking movie is revealed to be a simulation, the Hero was just the avatar of a normal kid wanting to be the Hero he always played in Dragon Quest games, and the blatant message is that people shouldn't immerse themselves in fantasy worlds that hard, they need to live real lives.
I did expect a family type movie but man it really got me thinking how japan is so god damn embarrassing. Luckily they have some good critic bait film to reassure everyone that there are some non manchildren living there.

How in the frick they even greenlighted the script?
Agreed.
Frick the SNES version for not allowing her to level up beyond lv. 10 for no reason other than forcing you to pick Bianca.
Is there a hack that removes that limitation?
The ending twist would have been very good if mc was just the ingame character, the virus didn't consider mc to be anything more than an npc, and there was no layer of someone playing it. Having the big bad be some higher being that can just delete your concept of existence is very cool.

Dreamworks Bianca?
kinda? it's from the Dragon Quest movie:
Not from DQV, from the infamous movie that Japan hated so much they forced themselves to forget it ever existed, you don’t mess with their precious Dragon Quest franchise.
Yeah that movie was terrible, pretty visuals though

Person who has only played XI.

>They made her the strong adventurer
>While the MC a weak piece of shit that needed to be rescued all the time
Shit movie, no wonder it flopped.
I don't know how they fricked up a DQ5 movie, and I don't want to know. It's like the easiest story in the world to do.

No it isnt lol the blatant message is the usual 'my feelings for the game world were real so whos to say its fake.'
Let’s be fair, it wasn’t as great as it should’ve been but it wasn’t that bad either
Japan fricking buried this movie from public conscience, they eat up anything Dragon Quest related, yes it was that bad.
I did expect a family type movie but man it really got me thinking how japan is so god damn embarrassing. Luckily they have some good critic bait film to reassure everyone that there are some non manchildren living there.
The director and writer of this movie is making the new Godzilla movie.
Stupidest fricking movie I've ever seen. First time I've ever felt like I've completely wasted my time watching something.
QRD?
See
How in the frick they even greenlighted the script?
Japan is just genuinely bad at filmmaking outside of a few studios.
The director did both the Stand By Me Doraemon films, which were fantastic.
He also worked on the 3D Lupin III movie.
flora/nera is the best in any version
The DS version of 5 is such dogshit, but I can't go without Debora.
Agreed.

god, the ending was so fricking ass holy shit
I haven't started DQV yet but Bianca seems plain so I don't mind her getting fused with Astrid from the dragon movies
Then again I'm pretty sure I'm gonna commit to Deborah, so
Best DQ wife
>gave this bumpkin prostitute a wedding ring
>what she really wanted was a medial ring
Why did people hate the DQV movie? I played the game like 10+ years ago and watched the movie like 2 years ago and I thought it was pretty endearing.
Because they let the silly “it’s okay to love the shit from your childhood” ending ruin the prior hour and a half of film
No Toriyama artstyle.
