Tldr:
Blasphemy is a good game, but annoying and repetitive enemies really hold it back.
Long version:
Top notch level and enemy art. But some areas are really stretched out like the snowy windy mountains, they'd be short areas but you have the same overused wall statues attacking you everywhere you go, and the thing is you can't skip them so they become insane time sinks when you add them all up. The same can be said for the bell ghosts who are often paired with the wall statues to make it even more of a time waste.
I enjoyed the two areas underneath, I killed the boss that is like three witches who fuse into one, and the other boss who spits poison at you. I'm taking a break due to the mountain area for now.
So far 7.9/10
I really wanted to try this game but I refuse to play an anti-christian game
>an anti-christian game
>kill the heretics larping as god
>actually help the one true faith
>replying to the same bait post that has been posted since the game came out
modern Ganker truly is dumb as a rock
Does it count as bait if it's the truth?
What's the difference between Catholics and Christians anyway?
I can't take either seriously because each time iv went to church for a funeral or whatever, israelites are mentioned during the sermon. That can't be a good sign can it.
>Catholics and Christians anyway
what's the difference between all homosexuals and you?
and if you want to know the difference between protestants and catholics, i'm sure there's a german priest somewhere that compiled a list
Hmm very levelheaded reply! Anyway I prefer Catholics. Christians seem similar to protestants to me.
How can someone lack even the most basic knowledge of the world around them? Were you dropped on your head as a baby?
Hehe ...sorry ... I don't think so... Maybe xD..
NYAH!
There is no difference, it's a fanfiction war.
>inb4 how edgy of you
Even if god would exist it wouldn't make a difference at all, everything would be exactly the same. I don't care.
The belief itself at least has to be real. It does make a difference.
it's not actually anti-christian, it's anti-zealotry
same thing
Thats dumb, then. Jesus said he hates lukewarm people. He prefers zealotry.
Found the contrarian npc christian larper
>but I refuse to play an anti-christian game
What are you talking about? This is literally and unquestionable THE most Christian game ever made.
Local illiterate LARPers can't even appreciate just how Christian it is, but someone who can, would see how well devs know traditional Christian culture and themes, and express them into their game.
The game isn't called Blasphemy, you fricking dribbling moron; you even posted the cover art where it confirms that.
The game is surprisingly jank for how good it looks. For one I'd constantly get random stutters. There's also weird input buffering and lost input issues. Hitboxes are also jank, best example are those nuns that swing around a big flail, once the flail hits the ground and rests there for a few frames it's still an active hitbox that will just kill you. You stub your foot on a mace and take half your health in damage. Game is full of this weird shit. Atmosphere and art makes up for it though. Final boss was too easy sadly. Also I can't be arsed to play NG+ to do the remaining bosses.
also the "soulsian" quest lines suck arse, big time
>For one I'd constantly get random stutters. There's also weird input buffering and lost input issues.
This is only your issue. I have no stutters, no weird imput buffering or lost input.
How does it run on the Steam Deck? Is the sequel any good?
Sequel improved in some areas like no longer killing you on spikes but teleporting you back with a hit on health.
I played it on Deck just fine, so yeah.
>Sequel improved in some areas like no longer killing you on spikes
That's a downgrade because now you have no more tension going through the locations AND you have huge movement skill boost too so not only is traversing in the sequel easier, the spikes are not punishing. I have not hit a single spike or a bottomless pit during my entire playthrough.
The locations are also downgraded in other ways too. They are too short. There's too many of them, it's like playing World of Warcraft or other theme park ride MMOs. The locations look and feel artificial to accomodate new movement skills. The sequel is inferior in every way to the original.
Dying to spike was only a fricking pain.
Especially in the "shortcut" and the snowy mountains.
And the snowy mountains are like a priority in early game if you want to get the timed quest done.
And when you reach the top of the snowy mountain, you gotta survive the bell nun, which is so damn convenientyl betwen you and the save point.
Man, I loved Blasphemous, especially after the gameplay updates, but that part could have been a bit less of a slog.
Didn't hadn't much of a problem on subsequent runs.
It added flavor to the location. It was a steep climb through frozen mountains of death, the location itself had character both visually and mechanically. No location in Blasphemous 2 feels like it. The fact that you are remembering the defeat and anger is great, you won over the mountain.
I remember not liking that part I don't know if I'd consider remembering that part being annoying a great thing
>hit a wall a couple times to break it
>dude INSANE time sink
its not a good game, the gameplay is tedious and I only want to finish it because of the cool edgy setting.
B2 had some neat mechanics like the altarpiece system and getting an air dash and double jump was also a needed boost to mobility, but I think I prefer B1's Mea Culpa to B2's other weapons.
TPO deserves some rest at last. 100% whatever happens next Crisanta is going to be the playable character
The story was shit. It would be neat if this great grace was revealed to be just another force like the miracle, larping as goody two shoes angels and heavenly clouds.
B2's story is a logical conclusion of 1. Miracle became directionless and fulfills the last plan of Higher Wills. There's an actual positive divine force in the setting that seems to be subdued by the Miracle's presence and incompetence of its own agents that can be corrupted.
