My first 4 characters were fighters named Bob. Bob The Fighter was the fighter made in the choose your own adventure section of the BECMI PHB, which was given to me by my friend's older brother. I made him, and then brought him to the friend's table for the game.
He fell into chasm and died. His son game in later that same session, Bob Jr. The Fighter. Bob Jr. was just the same character sheet with a Jr. added on the end and his sword +1 and shield replaced with just a battleaxe (the loss of the magic sword was the penalty for dying since it was my first character and I was 12). Bob Jr. then was killed by goblins and replaced by his cousin Rob The Fighter. Rob was just the same character sheet but this time with a spear +1 instead of the battleaxe +2 he was using. Rob eventually died from a green dragon's breath. Finally I played Umberto who was not the first Bob The Fighter with a mustache and poncho who miraculously survived the fall (he was).

The vast vast majority of this is likely people fricking around with stats. When I open Battlescribe, 9/10 times the list doesn't see the table so likely people are putting in "Bob" as a place holder to see some stats and character builds.

In my opinion, art is not a product of culture. Art is, by and large, a product of an individual's desire to emulate. Or a corporation's attempt to grow through the sale of something passing as art. A corporation is by design a machine without culture.
Fashion is much the same. Art and Fashion are global ads, and inform nothing of the country of origin from where it's manufacturer resides. At worse, they sell the false idea of culture.

That's just basic statistics. There can be 43 fantasy named characters and 5 named Bob. Since fantasy names are unlikely to be standardised Bob would be at the top of that list with only 5: the 43 fantasy names each having a 1 next to them.

I recommend playing with better roleplayers to fix this issue. A good roleplay will play a freakshit race and yet be interesting, and a good roleplayer will play a human fighter and yet be interesting.
I ran a hobgoblin character whose whole shtick was he was the last survivor of a battle Maglubiyet intentionally lost so he could send the whole army to Avalas at once. You can write well for freakshit and I'm not saying that many don't but normies love characters that are colorful and hate that they might have established lore that makes the race a dirty meanie. The kind of people that only play an imaginary race because they want to pay a hack artist online so they have have art of their overly colorful character. These are the same people b***hing about drow or orcs being typically evil.

In reality, the baldur's gate character select issue is due to statistics.
if 50% of people choose tails and 50% choose no tails, no tail will be the model shown on the aggregate. Why? Because tails are divided between tail A and tail B.
Obviously no tail, with 50%, has been chosen more than either tail A or tail B, each at 25%.
