The length of these "reviews" have always been peak absurdity. People out there really can't get by in life without popular nerds pretending to talk to them for hours on end.
If it was about the game you could sell something, get paid, buy the game, play it and complete it in the time it takes for these Vlogs to finish recommending the game.
But doing that doesn't get you hours of dialogue with popular internet people. It just gets you a few minutes of insufferable banter here on Ganker or a complete circlejerk on reddit.
People also just don't like playing games as well despite watching videos on people playing them

Ideas like this have been a thing in art for ay least 100 years or so, but they have gotten hypercharged jn the internet age, especially with movements like Vaporwave. The act of taking refuse and melting it down to create heinous sludge that is supremely unpleasant to look at, but that can be deciphered and resolved into something more "human" through pure repeated exposure iss inherently interesting, unfortunately such artworks often fail in the curation stage, because you need to be exposed to a lot of them at once.
Another issue are that art usually trends towards cleaner and more "elegant" works, trash like this simply doesn't have the mass appeal.
Cruelty Squad is fascinating, because it accomplishes this perfectly. It, to some extent, successfully reconditions your brain. When you finish it, the world is no longer strange and alien, but simply the way things are. You see things through their eyes.
