Not if it's as good as Okami and keeps providing refreshing content; new dungeons, new characters, new music, new assets, new combat aspects, new villages, new bosses, etc.
Okami being too long is one of the lowest-IQ vidya memes, especially with JRPGs existing that stop doing new things after 10 hours but still take 60 hours to beat because of massive padding
Still a great game, and not just because of the fortune cookie.
Mosou is just sorta like that, I think. From what I understand the fans are all about that grindy shit.
>but the main issues is the pacing lurches with several bait-and-switches where you think you're in the final stretch but then there's another arc of the story.
How is this objectively a bad thing?
Okami is a long game, but the main issues is the pacing lurches with several bait-and-switches where you think you're in the final stretch but then there's another arc of the story. Zelda games usually have an inflection point after the first few dungeons that reveal another major mechanic and open up the world, but Okami just sorta does that, then.. does it again...then does it again before finally ending. If the flow was more cohesive and there was more of a connective thread I don't think it would drag on as much.

Yep, fatigue is real.
I would say the only games I've played that went on too long are Final Fantasy XII and Persona 5 though. About the 120 hour mark is where it has to be put down.
Outside of fighting Orochi a million times Okami justifies it's length by just constantly getting better unlike most games which drop off in the second half
Genshin Impact. It would be a much more respectable game if there was no resin and it's not like morons wouldn't spend loads of money on the gacha anyway. But instead you have to artificially spend a week on an hour grind.
Only (unironic) moronic people regurgitate that Okami is too long. Every normal human was disappointed that it's not longer and you don't get to explore that floating island at the end.
RDR2
Absolutely. Brevity is the soul of wit.
I dropped Okami a bit after the first dungeon. It's problem isn't that it's long; it's that it's fricking boring.

Yeah
Yeah, but 300 of those hours are just waiting for a timer to run out.
The only game I've played that I would describe as having "too much content" is Hyrule Warriors.

Persona 5 and TLOU2 go on for a third longer than they should
>Persona 5
This. Its just one or two palaces too many.

While I love the first Grandia game it is way too long and should be 20 hours shorter like it's sequel, especially when the 2nd half feels rushed.
Kamiya’s best game.
This. Combat gays who want every game to be a juggle simulator ruined gaming

Wonderful 101, will make you hate shmups forever
