The first DOAX was a really good game so people gave the series a pass. Ask yourself though, have you seen any widespread complaints about Venus Vacation? These games could still come out and 99% of people wouldn't care.

doax3 specifically didn't release in the west because japan thinks twitter accurately represents what most people think

They could've released it, Koei Tecmo is just moronic. They also killed DOA6 over thinking fanservice isn't accepted while VV is seemingly doing well, so hopefully they learn some lessons.

Only for the Japan and Asia markets. DOAX3 on PS4 was also the same with and Asia English release.

The discussion is about the games not officially being released in the West. Keep up.

Cancel culture and complaining on social media wasn't as popular back then and normalgays only cared about tv shows.

It was on xbox and many of the gaming magazines had it on the cover. I still have my game informer that had Hitomi as the cover with the title sex, lies, and videogames back in the early 2000's. Violence started to get normalized so sex was the next big thing for politicians and moms to attack. GTA coffee scene also happened at the same time and we had Dave Miera removed his name from bmx xxx.

nobody cared because only straight men were into videogames at the time.
women and homosexuals were a mistake.

Are you too young to remember a time where "if men enjoy it then it's bad" wasn't the main narrative?

    I can't explain nothing. I just coomed to DOAX2 that's all I know.

Because the people crying about it were still around and vocal, but nobody listened to them and just laughed at them instead.
I'm so fricking sorry you had to grow up in a world where shrieking lunatics are catered to.

People understood that there were different genres catering to different people and games were developed to target them. Only a few games were marketed to as wide an audience as possible with most laser focused on attracting its niche. Devs dared not take their customers for granted for fear of losing to their competitors.

      >Devs dared not take their customers for granted for fear of losing to their competitors.
I mean, every now and then one turned up talking shit, but not even remotely to the degree they do these days.
The video game industry is honestly amazing at how much shit happens in it that would never fricking ever be tolerated in any other industry. Even the film industry isn't at the point yet of just grossly generalizing moviegoers and bingewatchers as gross crybaby incel chuds, because they actually get punished a la ghostbusters when they try that shit.

This was a staple xbox franchise at the time, same with ninja gaiden.
It was a different time, when the loonies still did not control discourse.

Now Imagine microsoft even allowing that on their platform with the way they are today.

in 2012 people realized wall street was fricking every single body and wall street started the progressiveness campaign to divert attention
of course everyone fell for the trap because ordinary people are borderline moronic

Gaming was well into the phase of being "mature". Edge and sex appeal was in vogue. We've now moved on from what teenagers think is mature and that sort of thing fell out of fashion for the most part.

    People did complain.
The difference was that those people didn't yet complain about things successfully often enough so no one took their moronic opinions deadly serious like it happens now.

The large majority of people only care about what they are told to care about.
