I finally got around to 3D Dot Game Heroes last week. I beat it, and it kind of sucked. It was really clunky, and was too easy when you had full health, but annoying when it came to dealing with half enemies who were immune to normal sword attacks. Also the final boss died in a few seconds.

I thought it was interesting for a bit but I didn't finish it either. I found out after the fact that the friend who recommended it to me never even beat the fricking game even though he had it for over a year already.

      >3D Dot Game Heroes
That game is not bad, but it's overrated as frick (mostly because of those "muh hidden gems" videos) and nowhere near worth the price homosexuals ask for it.

The PS2 can play ps2 and ps1, you literally do not need a ps3. 360 got the better multiplats and could play og Xbox, so 360+ps2 was the best combo.

+240p is supported on PS2 and you can even output it over ypbpr component while you cant with the ps1.

    >shitty defective GPU that will fail
    >no games
The PS3 is shit. Especially the backwards compatible models.

My pc can play ps3 games. If I want to play ps1 or PS2 games, I have my ps2 hooked up to my crt.

You clearly don’t have one of these. I bought one and sold it within the month, the way it screams when it’s running and the fact they have a terrible record of just melting down, unless it’s pre-emptively treated, you have a timr bomb. That said, yes, it’s a PS2 Pro in many ways, I personally love all the ports like Ico and ZoE, really the only ways to play those games in widescreen, HD and proper controls. Also, because it supports the same racing wheel as the PS4, I can actually play the Initial D and Wangan Midnight arcade ports, which is amazing in of itself.

I can play ps1, ps2, and ps3 games on my PC though. And use savestates and shaders and shit, and play them for free.

YLOD has nothing to do with thermal paste or capacitors.

The thermal paste is like the least of its issues. YLOD doesn't even has an error code, so it could literally be anything.

It can't output 240p though so useless for PS1 if you're actually a serious person.

You need to replace the 90nm gpu with a 45nm lol but that's just a small detail about how nvidia got kinda buttfricked by their own hubris and tsmc also caused these problems too. Funny they're not the issue but it's only their chips that have these issues.

90nm GPUs are all fricked. The 360 and Wii both have GPU issues as well.

        >The Wii [has] GPU issues as well.
Are you talking about the WC24 issue or something else?

I'm not convinced the GPU artifacting was exclusively caused by WiiConnect24. Only early Wiis with the 90nm GPU are effected.

        >the wii
Never really heard of issues, I have a launch console that was used extensively and never once had any crashes beyond doing early homebrew with zelda.

the biggest issue with the wii is that the fan is disabled while wiiconnect24 is enabled. so it can easily cook itself. that often manifests as gpu artifacting (the gpu is used for wc24)

The fact that the issue only happens to early Wii units and it was observed early on leads me to think the WiiConnect24 thing is a misattribution.

Presumably the later models simply don't generate enough heat for it to become an issue,
