I don't think RE4 Remake replaces the OG RE4 since it feels very different in gameplay and tone in a lot of ways. and it's got a lot of changes. I still think if someone played RE4 Remake they still need to play the original RE4 to really appreciate that game.
Now something like the Dead Space remake is a different story. some Ganker anons might be pissed at me for this but I honestly think the Dead Space remake is a replacement for the original
It's better in basically everyway and just an all around upgrade. plus it's not super different to the point you don't get the same experience as the OG.
If someone played the Dead Space remake I would think they had experienced Dead Space and don't really need to play the OG.
It's like how RE1 Remake just replaces the OG RE1. there's no real reason to play the OG when the remake is just an all around upgrade.
The new necromorphs aren't as horrifying and unsettling. They seem censored.
You can skin them alive, censored is definitely not the word I’d use. Sterile, maybe? It’s just the higher graphical fidelity not matching some of the artistry on display in the OG.
yes and now, they have more skin firts because you have actual physics to flay them, but their original faces where scarier, some of them the basic enemies mostly.

Absolutely not, the acting in Dead Space remake is so absolutely abysmal that it beggars belief. For that reason alone I cannot recommend it as a "replacement" for the original.
That reminds me of a criticism I've seen about Half-Life vs Black Mesa: the new version of the final boss looks much less horrifying. (But it's a lot more fun to fight, at least.)

Yes, all the REmakes so far have surpassed the originals. No offense to the original games but we have decades of technical improvements and understanding of what constitutes good gameplay design (I will personally beat up anyone who says tank controls are "soul")
Tank controls were a creative solution to a technical problem that worked fantastically. The fixed cameras added so much ambiance, and allowed the directors to really play with the mood and atmosphere. Tank controls were a necessary evil, and one that only had a very very gentle learning curve. Anyone still complaining about them after playing the original RE games for more than 15 minutes is just mentally deficient.

not with RE4, it's already a perfection.
Both remake and the originals is 10/10 in my book. For RE2 I have mixed reaction whether to pick which one is the superior version because it cut a lot of stuff from the original especially the A/B scenario.
Re2R was better in my opinion. Yes, og had a/b but the game was so easy. I played it right after remake and while I love the iconic ost and sound effects, zombie moans. Though it was short as frick. 2Re added a lot at the cost of different scenarios. People argue about the spiders and moth but the fight was so quick and the spider part was like 2 areas that you just run past anyway. They added a whole new puzzle to 2R.
REmake gameplay, difficulty and game design is better than the original.
OG did better with presentation and cinematics but I believe here gameplay has more weight
Rem4ke is fine but it doesn't surpass the original. It's mostly the same game, so it's mostly a good game, but they made it worse by adding gun away and forced walking because they wanted the last of us audience
It also isn't remaking the game in an entirely different genre like re2 and 3 did so it is pretty much competing with the original
>REmake did.
The story retcon was shit(frick, we killed the antagonist in the first game. what do we do?) and the mansion redesign(from well lit 60s modern art to dilapidated victorian mansion) were absolutely a step back.
it just doesn't make sense. now if they had changed the timeline as well, it could have. in the original the accident happened a couple weeks before the STARS entered the mansion so it makes sense that everything is in working order. a little dusty but fine because people used to live there. but, apparently, the mansion went from perfectly fine living space to abandoned haunted mansion with broken windows, rotted doors, massive spider webs and wilted plants everywhere in those same couple weeks.
Fair enough. Some of the stuff I guess could be explained away but it definitely felt like it was long abandoned. I still liked the design more than the original's despite this, but the original had its unique charms as well.
>Can remakes surpass originals?
In theory, yeah. I’m not a huge fan of either series, but as an outsider looking in, I think there is value in remaking games like they have done with FF7 and Resident Evil. Telling the same story in a different way / with different gameplay is something that can attract both new and returning players.
>Do remakes surpass originals?
Typically, no. Remakes / remasters are churned out by big developers as padding in between major releases. It takes significantly less effort and dev time to take a fully made game and add a fresh coat of paint than it does to develop something new. I would argue that it’s a waste of fricking time, but apparently people eat it up. One of my major gripes with the Switch is how unimpressive its library is when you remove remakes and WiiU ports, and in my opinion, they’d be better off using the resources they’re sinking in that crap into smaller spin-off titles (Mario Party / Sports / whatever) that used to serve as padding while also being good games.
Not in RE4's case. Playing the remake first enhances the original experience since the original will subvert your expectations thanks to some changes the remake does, not to mention they play differently enough to warrant playing both.
nostalgiagays will get mad, but I vastly prefer the REmake 4 over the original. The original was very good, don't get me wrong, but the remake made it better in every way.
And in the same breath the physics elsewhere are staggeringly unrealistic
Ada zooming around like the bionic commando or an attack on titan character is immensely stupid. RE4make even had worse magic flesh growth than re5/6. You were supposed to learn from RE6's mistakes, not imitate them!
>Leon gets grazed by a lucky axe fling >recoils in pain and flails around like a soccer player trying to get the other team fouled >gets stunlocked to death
I guess you can have your cake and eat it too if your marketing budget is big enough
Looks like a Walther. The slide, trigger guard, and hammer look to match a P22, but the idea of a spec ops vet running around with a .22 sidearm seems off. Maybe the animators just liked the design and rolled with it.
You could've just cheated and googled it. His gun is a SIG-Sauer P226.

Brainlet confirmed
I think it's hard to judge when remakes change too much >Twin Snakes >RE4 >Demon's Souls
and become more of an alternate game based on the original. In these instances you might like a remake as much as you liked the original, but for different reasons, and ultimately can't pick one out as better overall. Then again, some remakes are straight up worse and some are better. Personally
Ratchet & Clank: Original > Remake
Metal Gear Solid: Original > Remake
RE4: Original > Remake
SOTC: Original > Remake
Demon's Souls: Original = Remake
Dead Space: Original < Remake
NieR Replicant: Original < Remake
RE2: Original < Remake
TLOU: Original < Remake
I will die on this hill, twin snakes is kino as frick. OG is better undoubtedly, twin snakes lacks vr missions sadly, but still sucj an underrated experience. Its MGS1 in MGS2s engine. Its a rare remake the likes of which we wont ever see again

Not in this book. The closest is this, unless the later models are from a different country.
Holy shit I never thought about it but this is tragic. I knew something was off about the demo. Input delay, ponderous animations, invincible doors that completely break the simulation of physical events... The original was magical, not because it had some flawless physics engine or every interaction went off without a hitch, but because there was never any compromise with gameplay, player intent, and simulating a few very important details to immerse you in the situation of fighting off a horde of enemies, like destructible doors. That's the kind of shit that matters. And it's funny that most people will probably watch a webm like that and not have any clue that something might be wrong.
The rest, maybe, but the input delay shown in that webm is absolutely bullshit. Feel free to pirate the game and see for yourself. Whoever made that vid was pushing nonsense.
It's not even a fair comparison. RE4 was made in fricking 2004 and was an original game. Remake devs were able to use it as reference + had the benefit of hindsight
How come Leon changed drastically from cool pretty boy to a drunkard after 4? I bet even Ashley doesnt even care for him after RE4, it's a such drastic change for his character. He's still cool but hmm..
Did you expect him to act like a boys scout after going through at least a handful of traumatizing events? At the very least it was inevitable that Capcom would turn the overrated guy into a cliche “grimdark” action hero.
it changed during the CGI movies, basically he is a complete different character when we get to RE6, sadly we don't see that progression naturally so it kinda just happens. REmake4 tries to fix it by making leon not proto-dante.
Capcom, I have figured out how to save your multiplayer shit. >Release model
Free to play, comes with every new RE game as a library addition (with exclusive cosmetics and a map or something for each game). Cosmetic MTX but nothing that gets in the way of gameplay. >Gameplay
Like asymmetrical horror but with several levels of human factions and several monsters depending on player count.
Say one map is Rockfort Prison. You have prisoners, scientists, and guards as the three factions. Eventually, HCF and UBCS, HCF helps prisoners, UBCS helps scientists and guards, and both want to stop the other.
The monster faction is just player controlled monsters. Tyrants, bandersnatches, hunters, a crimson head elder, each with their own unique abilities like making more zombies or detecting people in other rooms. >But how does it make money?
Cosmetic MTX out the ass. Since it's F2P and would probably just be 100% reused assets, this would easily make money, and be different enough from typical asymmetrical games.
Hire me Capcom, I know your shills are here.
>asymmetrical horror
Just a make a full blown Raid mode with RE4R gameplay with tons of season pass, there i fixed it
Frick the le DBD shit, I want to shoot bioweapon and grind for weapon n shit
>they already tried f2p
They actually haven't. Resistance and Re:verse were both tied to buying RE:3 and Village.
My idea is a standalone game that also comes packed in with everything they release. Maybe integrate that RE Ambassador stuff, so all your stats actually do shit. 100%'d REmake? Get Jill and Chris' shitty alt costumes as a cosmetic. Saved Zoe first way back in the day with 7? Get a "Proud Cuck" shirt.
Possibilities are endless. I don't know why Capcom is so insistent on their MP shit being locked to their single player games that nobody buys for multiplayer.
Either way, asymmetrical horror MP just low tier garbage that serves to sell DLC and dogshit MTX. They’d honestly be better off making a co op shooter a la ORC with the new RE Engine to make a genuinely enjoyable MP that doesn’t need a fricking in game store.
RE is not a series for paid multiplayer games at this point. Capcom has done their best to tarnish that idea with games like ORC, Umbrella Corps, Resistance, and Re:Verse. Free to play is really the only method that would probably work if they put in the right amount of effort. >inb4 Outbreak
File 2 bombed incredibly hard. Also, anyone saying "If they ported Outbreak today it'd be a massive success" is deluding themselves.
RE5 and RE6, Revelations, etc all beg to differ, so what the frick are you talking about?
Anonymous
>RE5 and 6
The co-op mode was the only thing people played in them, which is hardly what Capcom is ever targeting.
Nobody actually played shit like Versus, and most of 6's multiplayer stuff is completely unknown to most players. >Revelations
Raid Mode co-op is the same as the above except only known to hardcore Revelations fans. As for Revelations 2, its main game co-op was offline only.
>Solution to miltiplayer
Make Raid Mode into its own standalone full fledged thing and I guarantee that alone will be better than other coop shooters out there like payday 3 or killing floor 2.
Beat this version as a kid on roadtrips and vacation so many times I can easily lay down in bed right now and play through the entire game with like, 80% of the details perfectly recreated, from start to finish in my head.
No takesy baksies. I know I want a MAN that can live in his head playing his favourite game without being held back by his corporeal bindings, not a BOY who wastes his time forgetting the difference between 5s and 1s
Yes. Vicarious Visions did this with THPS1+2 remake and again with Diablo 2 Remastered(though the lack of TCP/IP is trash, but that was an Activision rule).
Both of these games are better their than originals due to upgraded graphics, QoL stuff, and a few improved mechanics.
>What the frick happened to this board? Is everyone 12 now?
I am 33 and probably probably have 10k hours in D2 back in the days. I used to run multiple Pindle bots, participated in d2jsp, sold items for real money, etc.

>There is zero way this motherfricker doesn't use a stupidly high end imac or macbook pro. People with money have literally never heard of windows
trump is a big fan of tim apple and his products after all
Part of that remake being so good is that they were very careful not to deviate from the original's map and mechanics, despite fears that they might be too complex for modern gamers (which was true)
I remember playing the original at a buttery smooth 10fps, on a machine that was easily twice as powerful as the "current gen" psgay and gay64 and only 5 times more expensive. That thing ran circles on what the console babies had I tell you, most children had only learned of 3D through the super fx chip so they couldn't really distinguish rudementary 3D shapes from smooth scaling and streching. It was a more civilized time where literally evwry key from our keyboards was required to be learned and used. How I long for those days
The issue I've found with 4 remake is that, while superficially it's the same game, it's actually really different. In the original, the best way to play is to stand your ground. Ganado charging? Shoot him. Chainsaw guy coming? Blow him away with a shotgun blast. Large group? Stunlock them with the TMP. But in the remake, playing well means playing defensively, dodging and running away a lot more. It feels really awkward coming from the original and finding that the gameplay style that let you kick ass in the original gets you killed in the remake.
You can be even more aggressive in remake, there is almost no standing in that game if you play it correctly. Don't ever have to run either except a little bit for that first chainsaw boss.
What I'm getting at is that, in the original, the solution is almost always to just shoot the enemy. In the remake enemies tank shots, so instead of quick shooting you're better off ducking, strafing, or blocking with the knife. In the original you interrupt attacks, in the remake you block or dodge, then react.
Remakes can surpass originals, but this only occurs when the team behind it chose to do the remake. Almost all remakes are chosen by higher ups for brand recognition. If some of the original devs or very dedicated fans choose to remake a game, then it likely comes out better. TENGO Project's remakes are all in this category, Wild Guns Reloaded & The Ninja Warriors Once Again are strict ugprades in all respects because it's the same devs going back and doing it again. That Star Ocean 2 remake is getting a ton of praise, and it turns out that the team that handled it had a bunch of former Tri-Ace employees that worked on Star Ocean before. Bionic Commando Re-Armed, Mega Man Powered Up, Kirby Super Star Ultra & RtDL Deluxe, etc. are also good examples.
In addition, in a more nuanced way, remakes can be around as good as their originals or even slightly better but not replace them. RE2make is probably the best example since it's a TPS instead of top-down tank controls and has a number of mechanical differences as a result, so no matter how good it is it can't replace RE2 on PS1. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X remixes content from MMX in a way that makes it worth playing AFTER the original rather than as a replacement.
I've only played Once Again (impulse buy for the huge boobs), but is it even a remake? It's more like a rerelease with new features. When I think "remake" I think of an overhaul that counts as a different game.
It is an overhaul. The visuals are all redone, there's a bunch of new mechanics, two new characters, time trials, new music, & co-op (the SNES version didn't even have that).
>Megaman Powered Up >Maverick hunter X
Why are they stuck on the psp. So much sovl, theres no reason why the rest of the mainline/Xs can't (or couldn't) be remade in the same style 🙁
>Megaman Powered Up >Maverick hunter X

[...]
Simple reason is both sold like shit.
A reminder that Capcom planned on remaking all the Classic & X games as in Powered Up & MHX but the PSP being unpopular outside of piracy killed both of those ideas dead. A remake of 3 & 4 on Powered Up's level could've been fantastic.

it just doesn't make sense. now if they had changed the timeline as well, it could have. in the original the accident happened a couple weeks before the STARS entered the mansion so it makes sense that everything is in working order. a little dusty but fine because people used to live there. but, apparently, the mansion went from perfectly fine living space to abandoned haunted mansion with broken windows, rotted doors, massive spider webs and wilted plants everywhere in those same couple weeks.
Fair enough. Some of the stuff I guess could be explained away but it definitely felt like it was long abandoned. I still liked the design more than the original's despite this, but the original had its unique charms as well.
>Shame they never remade 3
They did
Oh fug they did. Why are REmake and DOSmake so kino and then 3 and 4 so sovless?
Re4
System Shock
Fire Emblem Echoes
All superior to originals although RE4 OG has some things done better than remake, but it's too easy
No resident evil remakes, that's for sure.
Not in RE4's case. Playing the remake first enhances the original experience since the original will subvert your expectations thanks to some changes the remake does, not to mention they play differently enough to warrant playing both.
nostalgiagays will get mad, but I vastly prefer the REmake 4 over the original. The original was very good, don't get me wrong, but the remake made it better in every way.
>remake adds physical realism
RDR2 and realism won bud
if you actually played it, you'd know that this is nonsense
And in the same breath the physics elsewhere are staggeringly unrealistic
Ada zooming around like the bionic commando or an attack on titan character is immensely stupid. RE4make even had worse magic flesh growth than re5/6. You were supposed to learn from RE6's mistakes, not imitate them!
Leon is an action hero, pal. get used to it.
Holy shit that mag is infinite
I counted 22 or 23 shots. Not really that crazy, IRL handguns have mags like that, even without extended ones. My own handgun holds 21+1.
It's unfortunate that Death Island got even stupider in story but didn't top the dumb action in Vendetta.
>Leon gets grazed by a lucky axe fling
>recoils in pain and flails around like a soccer player trying to get the other team fouled
>gets stunlocked to death
I guess you can have your cake and eat it too if your marketing budget is big enough
>actually being serious with the gun kata shit
Somehow this is way, wayyyy worse than the 90s action hero vibe RE6 had, which was kind of charming.
Amerifriends what gun is this? Is it a 7 shot 1911?
burger here, it doesn't look like any gun I know. Looks like a mix of different guns put together to look cool
let me check my gun book
I imagine theres one of these besides every american cot
There's not, but there should be.
funny that you think that "being interested in weapons" is a bad thing. I hope big papa government wipes your ass for ya, too.
something with an extended mag, hmm..still looking
Looks like a Walther. The slide, trigger guard, and hammer look to match a P22, but the idea of a spec ops vet running around with a .22 sidearm seems off. Maybe the animators just liked the design and rolled with it.
you may be right, could be a 1911
Lmao based
Ok so this is an extended 15 round mag
Forgot pic
>automatic pistol
erm actually it's semi-automatic stupid book writers
they don't differentiate between semi auto and full auto in this book, because it also includes such things as percussion and matchlock
wait, this might be it
>9mm
Ok that explains why that extended mag has like 70 rounds
You could've just cheated and googled it. His gun is a SIG-Sauer P226.
>Just google it bro
Brainlet confirmed
I will die on this hill, twin snakes is kino as frick. OG is better undoubtedly, twin snakes lacks vr missions sadly, but still sucj an underrated experience. Its MGS1 in MGS2s engine. Its a rare remake the likes of which we wont ever see again
>twin snakes is kino as frick
I quite liked it and I really enjoy first person aiming in that series, though it's definitely my least favorite between the two.
German, huh? Let me see if I can find it.
Whoever made that vid was pushing nonsense.
it makes me sad that detail of the original was a complete accident, otherwise we would have seen more breakable doors
It's not even a fair comparison. RE4 was made in fricking 2004 and was an original game. Remake devs were able to use it as reference + had the benefit of hindsight
Cope OG schizo's
I prefer the remake but stats don't make a game good or not
It's ranked #640 compared to the remakes #30. It's over. From here on the remake will be the way people play and consume RE4.
we know reddit loves slop
Nope. Remakes are purely for profit, whereas the originals had at least SOME artistic/entertainment merit.
on many ways yes, usually art style and "soul" not being one of them
I like both and they play differently enough that you should play both, I think the new Seperate Ways was better than the original though
Remake is better.
Yes, but it usually isn't profitable to do so.
How come Leon changed drastically from cool pretty boy to a drunkard after 4? I bet even Ashley doesnt even care for him after RE4, it's a such drastic change for his character. He's still cool but hmm..
he got tired of solving everyone's problems, basically. started to wonder why he was dealing with all this bullshit when nobody else was even trying.
>Literal civilian death
>Zombies turn back into human
goddamn i forgot how Vendetta was batshit insane
Did you expect him to act like a boys scout after going through at least a handful of traumatizing events? At the very least it was inevitable that Capcom would turn the overrated guy into a cliche “grimdark” action hero.
>How come Leon changed drastically from cool pretty boy to a drunkard after 4
Because he's Ada's little simp
it changed during the CGI movies, basically he is a complete different character when we get to RE6, sadly we don't see that progression naturally so it kinda just happens.
Need a new Moira game badly
>asymmetrical horror
Just a make a full blown Raid mode with RE4R gameplay with tons of season pass, there i fixed it
Frick the le DBD shit, I want to shoot bioweapon and grind for weapon n shit
>F2p shit
>asymmetrical MP
Wow, capcom should REALLY not listen to you since they already tried f2p asymmetrical dogshit.
>they already tried f2p
>RE5 and 6
The co-op mode was the only thing people played in them, which is hardly what Capcom is ever targeting.
Nobody actually played shit like Versus, and most of 6's multiplayer stuff is completely unknown to most players.
>Revelations
Raid Mode co-op is the same as the above except only known to hardcore Revelations fans. As for Revelations 2, its main game co-op was offline only.
Then why did I buy a circle stick pro???
>Solution to miltiplayer
Make Raid Mode into its own standalone full fledged thing and I guarantee that alone will be better than other coop shooters out there like payday 3 or killing floor 2.
They could if developers remade shit games like DMC2 or something, but they always remake classics that don't need improvement.
RE2 and RE4 remakes are not better than the originals, btw, and anyone who believes they are is a fool. Don't @ me.
>they always remake classics that don't need improvement.
Because those are the popular ones. It's self-defeating in the long run.
REmake is no contest better than the original Resident Evil.
Heh, step aside little boy make room for the KING
Beat this version as a kid on roadtrips and vacation so many times I can easily lay down in bed right now and play through the entire game with like, 80% of the details perfectly recreated, from start to finish in my head.
Kino brain anon
he's a 5 on the imagination scale
wait I meant 1
No takesy baksies. I know I want a MAN that can live in his head playing his favourite game without being held back by his corporeal bindings, not a BOY who wastes his time forgetting the difference between 5s and 1s
I've played re1 so often I could probably draw the whole map from memory
Yes. Vicarious Visions did this with THPS1+2 remake and again with Diablo 2 Remastered(though the lack of TCP/IP is trash, but that was an Activision rule).
Both of these games are better their than originals due to upgraded graphics, QoL stuff, and a few improved mechanics.
>Diablo 2 Remastered is better than the original
What the frick happened to this board? Is everyone 12 now?
He is right, you have /players x commands and new endgame stuff, plus new viable builds. Better than original for sure.
>What the frick happened to this board? Is everyone 12 now?
I am 33 and probably probably have 10k hours in D2 back in the days. I used to run multiple Pindle bots, participated in d2jsp, sold items for real money, etc.
Can you provide an actual argument for why you think it's not better?
The aesthetics are horrible and every woman looks like a hag.
>I used to run multiple Pindle bots
>participated in d2jsp
>sold items for real money
So you are the type of person that belongs in a padded cell, far the frick away from the games you insist on ruining with your insane behavior? Gotcha.
>The aesthetics are horrible and every woman looks like a hag.
You see the faces for 2 seconds while on the login screen. It's a complete non-factor. The fact that this is the ONLY thing you could bring up just shows that you don't even have an argument.
>So you are the type of person that belongs in a padded cell, far the frick away from the games you insist on ruining with your insane behavior? Gotcha.
Still no argument. I accept your concession.
>it's a non factor
Not an argument. I accept your concession.
Yikes L rizz for you maybe you should go back to your 2kbps modems grandpa
most gamers don't know this, but it was actually possible to mute your dialup modem and prevent it from making all those sounds and waking up your parents when you were playing Runescape at midnight
Re4 has better Ashley and Ada that's it.
Yes
>moronic overly simple opinions
>any disagreement leads to equally moronic shit like "meds" or "have sex"
FRICKING BAN PHONES FROM THIS FRICKING SITE ALREADy JESUS CHRIST
have meds
>The best thing zoomers get is just remakes/'remakes' of previous games
Kinda depressing honestly. It's no wonder so many of them are moronic - they only get served crap.
Also this, frick off phonegays.
Its actually kind of depressing that boomers experienced shitter versions of modern games. Shitter in literally every single way lmao. We can literally play enhanced versions of all your favourite games for free lmao. Great "childhood" specially not being able to experience battle royales at their primes kek
>Its actually kind of depressing that boomers experienced shitter versions of modern games.
Depressing for you. They got to experience the good stuff AND they get to see you shovel garbage into your hole.
>any disagreement leads to equally moronic shit like "meds" or "have sex"
Maybe you thought you were slick, but I noticed how you didn't mention the "lol atheists" response
It's enough to make a man go "hmm..."
Do you spastic fricks think no one shitposts from their PC? Such an autistic fricking obsession
>PC
>2023 (current year [of our lord])
Literally name 1 (ONE) person who still owns a PC, let alone uses it. I'm waiting
Me
Blatently false
There is zero way this motherfricker doesn't use a stupidly high end imac or macbook pro. People with money have literally never heard of windows
Sorry bud you've been debunked, close the thread
No actually it has been you kek ypu say you use a PC and provide no proof who do you think we are
Posted from my samsung galaxy note
>There is zero way this motherfricker doesn't use a stupidly high end imac or macbook pro. People with money have literally never heard of windows
trump is a big fan of tim apple and his products after all
Donald Trump
Donarudo Sama!
That's Turumpo-senpai to you, baka
Re Oran-ge manō!
Yea
Metroid Zero Mission
Why do mouths look like that in RE engine? Looks like he just sucked a wiener
Yeah System Shock was fricking great.
Part of that remake being so good is that they were very careful not to deviate from the original's map and mechanics, despite fears that they might be too complex for modern gamers (which was true)
it didnt surpass the original (ee)
I remember playing the original at a buttery smooth 10fps, on a machine that was easily twice as powerful as the "current gen" psgay and gay64 and only 5 times more expensive. That thing ran circles on what the console babies had I tell you, most children had only learned of 3D through the super fx chip so they couldn't really distinguish rudementary 3D shapes from smooth scaling and streching. It was a more civilized time where literally evwry key from our keyboards was required to be learned and used. How I long for those days
who cares im talking about the ee since realistically nobody plays the dos version anymore
Yes.
Star Ocean Second Story R surpasses the original
seperate ways is absolute kino
Shame you have to mod it or play it in Japanese though.
Yes
Absolutely
I do think RE4R surpassed the original in every way. Playing it on Hardcore was a joy, made me feel like that first time I played RE4 on my GC.
yes, star ocean 2 did just that
The issue I've found with 4 remake is that, while superficially it's the same game, it's actually really different.
Simple reason is both sold like shit.
>Megaman Powered Up
>Maverick hunter X
Why are they stuck on the psp. So much sovl, theres no reason why the rest of the mainline/Xs can't (or couldn't) be remade in the same style 🙁
A reminder that Capcom planned on remaking all the Classic & X games as in Powered Up & MHX but the PSP being unpopular outside of piracy killed both of those ideas dead. A remake of 3 & 4 on Powered Up's level could've been fantastic.
I think it's hard to judge when remakes change too much
>Twin Snakes
>RE4
>Demon's Souls
and become more of an alternate game based on the original. In these instances you might like a remake as much as you liked the original, but for different reasons, and ultimately can't pick one out as better overall. Then again, some remakes are straight up worse and some are better. Personally
Ratchet & Clank: Original > Remake
Metal Gear Solid: Original > Remake
RE4: Original > Remake
SOTC: Original > Remake
Demon's Souls: Original = Remake
Dead Space: Original < Remake
NieR Replicant: Original < Remake
RE2: Original < Remake
TLOU: Original < Remake
I had fun with the RE4 remake but I doubt I'll ever play it again. Will probably keep replaying original RE4 every couple years though.
The mere concept of a game like RE2make being able to make RE2 obsolete makes as much as sense as FF13-2 doing the same to FF13-1.
