They went all-out including all the classic Hyrule locations and races and I don't think making a new map while still calling the places Death Mountain, Lake Hylia, Kakariko Village, Gerudo Desert etc would be that impactful. A different land would make it easier to justify big changes and let it feel fresh.
how about a zelda souls game. just have an opening sequence tell a story of how in this timeline link was slain by ganon and the game starts off with link waking up in a dark broken version of hyrule with the same vibes as lordran or drangleic

anon Zelda is made by Nintendo which is making their games so accessible even one handed blinded human needs to be able to beat them so i don't think alienating 80% of their fanbase which only plays relaxing games and not your proper skill dependent game would make sense for israelitetendo.

How? OoT doesn't even have a world. It's just rooms with a sky box jpeg connected by corridors. There's no world. You can't explore jack shit. There's more content in a single well in TotK than the entirety of OoT's Hyrule Field (which is just another walled room with a sky box jpeg).
And that's without even talking about the living breathing world of interactivity, the wildlife, weather and climate and so on.
I'll take linear handcrafted world instead of open copypasted loot and environments any day.

A smaller-scale high fantasy Hyrule inspired by the aesthetic of the 2D games would be what I'd prefer. No post apocalypse world, no high-tech elements, maybe even no fantasy races. Just Hylians against Ganon and his monsters. Maybe even have the game take place after the first two Zelda games in the timeline. Frame it as a grand return to the traditional Hyrule, with traditional dungeons and character designs within the BotW/TotK engine.
Next Zelda is the open sea like Wind Waker, but completely explorable underwater ala Subnautica. There's giant air bubbles you can swim into and explore like its on land like sunken Hyrule.

Would be cool if it was like a deeper version of the land/depths interactions from TotK, i.e. a lot of land to explore both on the surface and on the oceanbed, surface islands you can only access by ascending from the bottom like Korok Forest and viceversa.
