>Capcom forced him to release his game early!!! He just needed more time!!! MORE TIME!!!!
DD2 was half-finished
DD1 was half-finished
DMC4 was half-finished
DMC5, despite being his most "complete" game since DMC3, was still lacking in some really dumb areas, like not being able to play any character in any mission, or having an extremely lackluster co-op only for only 2 missions. Capcom completely stopped supporting the game after the Vergil DLC and its only thanks to modders that these things were fixed.
At some point, we are just going to have to accept that Itsuno will always make cool games with glaring flaws, he'd sooner put a weird gimmick like V or Trickster in his game than try to make his game "perfect"
I don't get the sense that DD2 is half-finished. It's a game I've played for a 100+ hours now.
Just because you are a smoothbrain and enjoy doing the same shit over and over and playing the most mediocre game in existence doesn't mean the game wasn't rushed out and lacking in a ton of areas.
>I don't get the sense that DD2 is half-finished
Seriously bro? Even just ignoring the lack of new content there's blatant gaps that DLC is clearly meant to fill. Paths awkwardly cut off by rubble. That crazy old man npc talking about places "beyond the sea". Loading screens with Daimon in it. Sorcerer losing its dark spells with trickster being purple/pink. Just off the top of my head
Honestly I'm fine with that as long as the DLC is really beefy
It was clear since before release the game was rushed to release this FY and that Wilds was supposed to be the 2024 title
There were a million red flags all over the place, no clue how people ignored them
>I would definitely pay 70 dollars on 25% of a game if it meant I get to pay 30 dollars or more for another 25% of the game that was intentionally left out!
Yes goy, just consoooooom. Very goooood…
>it's not happening
>it's happening but it's fine
next up:
>it's not fine but you deserve it
he's already halfway there with his 'red flags' comment
Crazy old man is addressed if you die in the end game
How can you possibly think this? The second region (so 2 out of 2 fricking regions) isn't finished. The empress storyline goes literally nowhere, it's never explained what she or her assassins are trying to achieve
There is a volcanic island section with practically 10 minutes worth of exploring and enemies on it, how is that finished? The story literally just abruptly ends and the Vernworth royal shit goes nowhere
>it's never explained what she or her assassins are trying to achieve
The assassin literally tells you everything she was trying to achieve once you catch her.
No, she tells you she planned to kill the Empress to force.... something. She never explains why making the Empress a martyr would benefit the region, it's literally not explained. She just plans to kill the empress "just because" they needed something to put in the quest
technically you could always use more time
Is Ganker finally realizing he's a hack? Only Kento Kinoshita can salvage DD2 at this point.
Glad people are starting to see how overrated he is, and that it takes more than one "auteur" director guy for a game to be good.
Don't care, buying the DLC on day 1.
Wilds will be shit as well
I really hate how RE Engine does mountains/rocks, looks like shit.
RE Engine doesnt do anything particularly well. I thought the one thing it was pretty good at was performance but apparently not even that.
RE Engine has great performances, DD2 was just rushed
People said Wilds is coming to Switch 2, it has to be well optimized
is wilds open world? I think it isn't built to handle them.
>RE Engine has great performances
The only reason people think it had great performance was because the games were made for PS4 and PCs were much powerful than consoles.
RE7 was the only RE game on PS4 to actually hit 60 fps, and that's because of VR mode.
Now Dragon's Dogma 2 is the first example of what they're going to target on 9th gen hardware. Especially since apparently the upcoming new mainline RE game is going to open world.
>Dragon's Dogma is Capcom's Open World ARPG series
>Now Monster Hunter is going Open World as well
>Rumors are that RE9 is Open World too
Boy I sure love seeing a company loved for all their different unique IP's just slowly eroding their franchises and turning everything into the same homogenic slop. Isn't entropy great
MH was supposed to go open world more than a decade ago
It's the only one that is not forced
DD2 even animates like MH now. It used to be a mix of dmc and MH and now its almost indistinguishable. Id rather MH just replace DD since the combat and enemy design is more engaging and the aesthetics aren't coma inducing.
I don't really understand what Capcom is thinking releasing DD2 and Wilds so close together, it just feels like cannibalizing yourself. What's the point of DD2 if Wilds is going to be doing a lot of the same shit, just with a higher budget? They made the same mistake with Resident Evil'like games where they saturated the market, the only RE child that managed to survive in the end was DMC because it managed to find its own genre style
Its not only mechanical convergence, they all look the same too. Feels like AAA slop heat death.
RE engine was a mistake.
literally soul vs soulless
It's also Capcom's supposed "dark age" vs the new "golden age"
man that's depressing
At least Wilds looks actually colorful
Its colourful in the lazy elden ring/DS3 way where its almost monochromatic but with a high saturation gradient photoshop filter slapped on it. Their old games felt like they used local colour the way an animated film would while the new shit feels like lazy live action cinema with filters.
Whatever it is, looks good and miles better than the vomit-tier games like 4U
4U is sometimes oversaturated but not always and is often beautiful, especially in 3D it just has a higher range. wilds looks worse than MH world
>wilds looks worse than MH world
People are really gonna pretend after calling World dogs hit looking for 6 years ara?
I never said world looked good
Kunitsu-Gami is the first RE engine game (I presume?) that feels like it has finally outgrown the house engine style. It uses colour in a much more sophisticated way and the lighting is no longer dull and full of crushed black shadows.
You must be kidding it looks like shit just like Rise.
>. It uses colour in a much more sophisticated way
that was just a trailer, i guarantee the actual game would look lifeless just like Dyke's Dlido 2
The gameplay in the trailer looks the same. Its the first 3d capcom game in like a decade with an aesthetic that reminds me of old Capcom
I genuinely believe their engine is made to be played in HDR. DD2 looks amazing with HDR
I think SF6 is the best looking RE engine game, but it screenshots terribly. In motion the game looks great but the second you stop and take a screenshot it all goes to shit
>Rumors are that RE9 is Open World too
Its what happens when a series lasts too long
>Resident Evil is Capcom's survival horror series
>Dino Crsis is survival-horror as well
>Rumors are that Onimusha is survival horror too
they've always done this shit
>yeah but what about these old Capcom franchises that are now both dead because Capcom flooded the market with RE clones too fast?
Pretty grim comparison
Today's Team Ninja thread was nothing but people wanting the next Nioh / TN game to be open world.
Ganker wants it as much as the rest
God I hate open world gays so much it's unreal.
Itsuno wont be developing it so it will be slightly better. Will have shitton of microtrannies tho.
There isn't a single reason to have doubts about Wilds
Is Wilds RE engine or is it the new REX engine? I'm just worried it's going to run poorly since it's a large world like DD2.
REX Engine is literally just RE Engine with upgrades
Wilds can still be RE Engine but have substantial fixes to make the performance better
yep, I can't be hyped after seeing the shitfest DD2 is.
all this body type shit, shoehorning ugly Black folk in, they already removed all traces of femininity for huntresses in rise, that shit will be the most dumbed down, pozzed and >open world MH ever.
frick
I dont understand how people are still in denial about this
everyone seems to forget the dogshit state world was in on release
Im bracing for absolute trash performance since its open world and yet another abysmal choice of monsters on release
No doubt they're gonna do dogshit weapon design again too; hell I'll bet they're going for dogshit armor design on top of it for more "realism"
Nah tokuda is the GOAT
I don't get why they decided to change weapon designs for world. They ruined my favorite sword which was Glavenus. Why even change it at all? I hate how all the weapons look the same just huge chunks of metal with a monster part slapped on.
It felt like they were trying to do something different but gave up halfway through. No excuse for the fricking iron'd glavenus gs or brachy drumsticks though. Thank god for mods.
Yeah the glavenus gs is so fricking good and they ruined it. I was so fricking upset when I went to go craft it. This isn't the only weapon that got ruined there are plenty of others. I hope for at least wilds they go back to the old weapon designs. The new metal weapons slapped on with monster parts feel so soul less.
my perspective is that capcom had 0 faith in the project and just gave him a small budget and team to work with in order to keep him at the company
stop being an apologist you fricking moron
Capcom have increased wages of their developers, which means they now have to increase monetization more.
DMC5 was a terrible end for the series and mods made by some trannies don't change that. DMC is in mobile game hell for the unforeseeable future. Capcom has fed you unfinished halfbaked shit on a plate for the past decade but you will still buy the next piece of shit they squeeze out for you because you never learn.
I'd like to think that 5 is suppose to be a sequel-setup type of game and DMC6 solves all these issues once and for all
DMC5 was so half baked its kinda crazy, yet people still praise it for whatever reason
People praise it for the combat which I admit is probably the best in the series. The writing and cutscenes feel painfully low effort though. I find myself physically cringing during DMC5 way more than I did during DmC or DMC4.
Same, DMC4 was actually cool while DMC5 was trying way too hard to be cool but fell short because it was going for the capeshit audience.
>DMC5 was trying way too hard to be cool
It didn't try at all. It's seriously lacking in high choreographed actions scenes compared to DMC3 and DMC4. Nothing in the game matches Nero vs Dante scenes in mission 1 of DMC4.
5's localization seems extremely awkward. It was the only game in the series which was made in Japanese, instead of English.
>combat which I admit is probably the best in the series
I won't deny that it's floaty like this webm always implies. I just like Dante's arsenal (mostly because of the bike). I prefer Nero's DMC4 gameplay over 5 by far though, I didn't enjoy devil breakers at all.
I also preferred Nero's gameplay in DMC4 even though payline was a nice addition and the devil breakers were fun for a little while, but then they became annoying when I realized their RNG placement.
>I also preferred Nero's gameplay in DMC4
because its easier to play with
Nero's MAX-act was much more forgiving and easier in DMC5 tho.
dante has the worst moveset in 4 out of all of the games.
>combat
>webm shows Dante shooting and hitting air
???????
he's showing differences in gravity, dumbass
>combat
>gravity
??...?????????????????????????????
gravity plays a part in combat because of game feel??
>game feel
gameplay loop ludo wienersucking narrative helloooo~???
b***h do you believe in gravity?
good to know you're too stupid to understand, have a nice day.
static assets???
NTA but the way the game feels is pretty important to the flow of combat and movement, you can't really address combat without taking game feel into account.
>game feels
Feels guy???
don't even try. he's just some dmc5gay that can't stand criticism to a game that makes him feel good since it's the easiest dmc game to date.
Now post the comparison between Nero's DMC4 payline and his DMC5 payline
Shu takumi is the only great director left at capcom, I wonder what he's been doing for the past 7 years.
Should have just made DMC6 and let Kinoshita and the DDO team handle DD2. Itsuno's ideas for Dragons Dogma seems to just be to make stuff less fun so he can shill his beloved pawn system more.
>DMC6
>when DMC just got a Chinese gacha game
>when there's a Neflix "anime" in the works
>when normalgays eat both of these things up with joy
Not for another 10 years buddy
DD2 will be receiving Title Updates to fill out the base game before DLCs
What the actual frick...
All those caved-in door ways have Spellseal doors behind them, some even with very simple level geometry blocked out.
How did DMC3 turn out as well as it did?
It was a different time.
Cheaper development. However, 3 is full of moronic problems as well. The whale boss, centipede, and arkham fights to name a few.
Seems more like capcom hates the fricking guy
>every other game had like 4 times more manpower allocated to working on it
>forced to shit out the game in the final days of Q4 so it goes right onto their financial report
>meanwhile MH is given years upon years of nonstop support
>Never finish a game
>WAAAAAAH WHY WONT CAPCOM GIVE ME STAFF
why the frick do you think capcom would give this guy extra time and staff for projects that he literally can't be bothered to finish? he sucks at management
do you really think he gets to decide when it gets put out?
huh? he gets to decide how finished the game is because... he's the game's director. He's literally in charge of who is doing what and how much time is spent on each part of the game. Capcom is supposed to give him 10 years and 500 more employees to do what exactly? Put a couple more harpy variants in the game?
DD2 is basically recycled with some upgraded assets, physics and particle system and somehow he still didn't finish it. Meanwhile, MH always had a 2 year and even less turn over between each game before 5th gen
I think Itsuno is a little too autistic for his own good (Trickster) but it also leads to him creating some of the most unique games. His hatred of games that focus on dodging leads to each class having defensive options that truly make the game feel unique and I love that about it too.
I just wish he wouldn't be so prideful and pull from other people's works as well. He's said before that he likes Nero and Vergil much more than Dante in DMC due to them being fleshed out in his games. I believe the same applies to DD2 not pulling from DDO when it should have. Quick spell isn't as interesting as spells having runes you draw out like DDO, having 4 skills isn't as interesting as 6, and the core skills are only a little better for some classes than DD1 so it doesn't justify it as much sadly. But then he'll come up with great changes to other aspects. It's a mixed bag that leads to his games feeling unique despite being AAA Productions and I appreciate it. He probably didn't think to put Dark Arisen enemies in 2 either simply because he didn't direct that.
It's not that he's too prideful to take from other games, he literally just doesn't play them. During DMC5 promotion someone asked him if he looked at what the competition was doing with games like Dark Souls or Bayonetta and he just admitted he didn't play modern games.
This is both based and something that can backfire horribly.
I don't mean other games, I mean other games in the series he directs for. He won't even reference other DMC games or the other DD works
DMC5 has plenty of references to DMC1, the DMC anime and even the DMC novels; none are things he was directly involved in.
CAPcom
