looks like Call Of Duty about to be 343i’d, why does Microsoft/Xbox love using short term contracters so much?

It's a disgusting practice that should be illegal but a lot of game studios do this. They make you take mandatory 3 month breaks and then give you a new contract so it restarts.
here's an idea. don't work on the fricking videogames business. if workers were in short supply they wouldn't pull this shit.
also it doesn't matter because they'll all be gone in 5-10 years anyways when AI takes over. good riddance to these israelite Black person worshipping homosexuals.
Right AI is gonna be soooo much better.
AI trained on the same slop you hate.
Slop in slop out anon, it's just gonna be cheap and easy to produce then.
but Call of Duty has been complete shit for a decade or more anyway, so who cares
Apparently Microsoft, who paid 70 billion for it
the numbers dont lie and its been a top1 selling game on consoles for years
True, it was number #1 for 14 years in a row until Hogwart Legacy somehow outsold it last year.
>somehow
It underperformed due to CoD 2023 being complete garbage due to mismanagement caused by the acquisition process.
no, I mean, it's not like this will cause the quality of the games to nose dive, because they're already shit, so the fans will continue to eat it up because they're clearly content with that
Halo also had been shit for years yet infinite managed to disappoint, don't underestimate microsoft's ability to make things worse.
Infinite only disappointed those who don't play it. It's a great game.
>Infinite only disappointed those who don't play it
Then explain how it went from 256k concurrent to 10k concurrent in just 5 months. That's a 96% playerbase loss.
It's popular on Xbox.
I doubt it.
Well, you started the muh numbers argument. Even though Steam is only good to show you FOTM shit.
I switched to the xbox app.
its been top selling since cod 4 dumb ass Black person. so has fifa. sales does not equal quality.
>Call of Duty 343i’d
How will normies and npcs cope?
no idea, more curious about how Microsoft will cope when one of their guaranteed yearly earners turns to shit though, that sounds interesting especially after spending $70 billy
is that why halo infinite is so horrible? I played it recently and still can't believe how fricking bad it is.
what's so bad about it?
He probably didn’t even play it, Infinite is good
CoD is already dead, it doesn't matter what they do with it.
Infinite sucks, it's dead for a reason. Worst Halo game of all time, somehow even worse than 5.
Campaign was good, firefight is good too. Halo 5's firefight was better though.
But PvP multiplayer is just too much like CoD run n gun. Everyone starts with a gun that can shoot across the map. And the maps are shit.
>Campaign was good
It was scaled back, incomplete, and entirely forgettable.
GOOD MORNING SAAAAAARS
READY TO REDEEM THE BATTLEPASS
it's so funny to see them burn their investment
Windows and Azure just makes too much money for them to ever feel consequence. Unironically too big to fail
Reminder that when Halo Infinite launched, 343 couldn't add a Slayer playlist because no one who was left at the company knew how to edit the UI. There's plenty of reasons why 343 is a terrible developer, but the overabundance of contract work is probably the biggest reason why.
Is Microsoft moronic? Say what you will about the game itself but keeping shit running as is would be a guaranteed money printer
Microsoft tried to remove CoD from Sony systems
They sort of got forced to keep it on Playstation for the next few years
Time for plan B: To kill CoD (they are very good at that)
>Microsoft cannot win or even compete on equal grounds
>so they pointlessly sabotage the competition on their way out
What is this bussiness strategy called?
Embrace
Extinguish
E-something i forgot
Embrace
Extend
Extinguish
The poor RH roasties. I'm so sad they were fired.
spastic
is it really competing when you just buy year long exclusivity both companies are shit but lets not act like sony is a victim here
Microsir
CoD made a BR game that did well and Halo refused to do that and stuck to their same old thing and it failed.
Did school just let out?
I didn't think there were any Halo defenders left. They fricked up not making a BR game. Now they lost their window as BR games are kind of a dying genre. So Halo is just dead.
Halo is dead because the franchise is trying to continue a story that should have ended with 3, it has no new ideas in its sandbox as a result other than "what if grappling hook?", and the level design is drab and inspired. A battle royale would have changed none of these things, and in fact would have just been an admission that the franchise is out of ideas.
CoD is another franchise out of ideas and you can see the consequences with the reaction to nu-MW3.
No one gives a shit about the story. It is all about gameplay and game modes. BR was the current trend when Infinite was in development and 343 refused to adapt. They actively resisted the idea and when Infinite came out it was ass. Then they scrambled to try and create some BR mode, but then that eventually fell through as they were already too far behind.
Halo's sandbox is extremely dependent on the campaign's mechanics, zoom zoom.
>sandbox
>campaign
No one cares. No one has cared about Halo's campaign since Halo 3 and a sandbox game FPS game isn't something that succeeds in modern gaming. How do you not get that? How dumb where they in creating a new FPS game and trying to base it on fricking Farcry 3 from 2012?
>No one gives a shit about the story.
They STOPPED giving a shit, and the series died when that happened. Halo is not like Mario with a bunch of characters you could easily plop into different settings, Halo is a finished story with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
It's just like Star Wars, or MCU after Endgame. People finished it, now it's just flogging dead horses
Lack of BR is not why Infinite failed. Frick BR.
Man i cant wait for Microsoft to spearhead the next videogame crash.
>looks like Call Of Duty about to be 343i’d
Couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise!
>Microsoft buy Halo
>Drive it into the ground
>Microsoft buy CoD
>Drive it into the ground
>Microsoft buy next big fps
Wonder what will happen.
The only way for gaming to heal is for Xbox to frick off out of the industry, Nintendo to get back to competing properly and for Sony to move their HQ back to Japan.
buy next big fps
Microsoft already owns CoD, Halo and Doom. They are running out of IPs to kill.
Phil Spencer's gonna do one decent thing for the first time ever and take COD down with Xbox.
but all the money goes to the company and the wagies barelly get a portion of ir, wouldn't it be cheaper to just hire them directly?
If they were employees they'd have to pay them better, provide them the same great benefits and stock options as everyone else, pay more taxes, have more liability, and wouldn't be able to shed them loose as easily.
>Call of Duty getting the pajeet treatment
Good riddance.
COD games are made usually in a year or two how is this an issue?
throwing out your in-house expertise and bringing in noobs on a regular basis is bound to make the process take longer or result in an inferior game
How do you know they aren't forced to sit out 3 months then come back as new contractors?
Lmao the microshit curse continues
>kills halo
>kills gears
>kills bethesda(Starbound was irredeemable shit)
>kills Forza
Get ready for CoD fading into irrelevance too
This makes no sense. They just bought IW, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software. 4 studios who have been making CoD games full-time for like a decade. The only studio that had officially confirmed layoffs was Sledgehammer Games, losing 30% of their employees(~135).
Why the FRICK would they then start hiring contractors instead? What's actually more plausible is that MS is hiring contractors for customer support, not actual development, like they are doing with other Blizzard games.
MBAs are imbeciles. Show me one MBA who isn't a fricking imbecile. No one can.
More and more people are waking up to this fact. It's pure office politics too.
>Oh, you're doing something that I wasn't involved in? Better cancel it so I can be associate with whatever you do next.
This, everyone and their dog knows that CoD has managed with yearly/semi-yearly releases for ages now because they trade off between dev teams. MS isn't THAT moronic to ditch what literally works
>ABK gets acquired by MS, and all their employees with smiles on their faces happily jump into the web, unaware of the spider (Phil) about to eat them all alive
Savage
I am noticing this trend on reddit and I guess here where you absolutely cannot blame devs for any issues in any game except now I guess it's ok if the devs are contract workers. Halo Infinite played just fine. The issue was management and that led to identity issues within the game and chasing trends. Infinite was a GaaS free to play game and as we see that model is imploding. Plus like it or not, 343 adopted a no crunch policy so that added another layer of shit
You mean they will make it good?
protip if your company gets taken over, do not listen to the lies about your job safety and immediately look for another position somewhere else
AAA companies can't seem to just, like, make games. getting a small team together and letting them work on an interesting idea without underhanded tricks and meddling is clearly unpalatable. their appetite for jiggery-frickery is destroying them.
say whatever the frick you want about the games themselves but sony atleast treats their devs like human beings
what a shitshow, endlessly throwing away peoples jobs so you can get cheaper and cheaper contract workers
It's crazy how companies like this buy a developer and then squeeze out what little value remains, fire a ton of people to squeeze more, and then just kill the developer. It's like a mafia bust out
but contractors aren't going to be able to use the engine. Oh frick does this mean they're switching to unreal.
shit
