Yeah, iirc they gave out the game for completely free on Steam back a year or two ago, I think early 2021 but not fully sure. The base game and the Ardennes DLC were given for free in one of the most significant 100% off deals on Steam I’ve seen in a while. Just not often you see a game that expensive be given out free for a weekend.

for those who don't know, CoH3 doesn't have German language localisation, so every seething hun has made it their life's mission to pretend that this game that absolutely slaps the shit out of CoH2 in every coceivable way is some kind of disaster.
why they're so interested in playing games where they are the losers i don't know, but i suppose it's a good distraction from the turk who is fricking their mom upstairs.
sorry guys, if you won the war maybe you'd be in a position to localise your games, but you're just going to have to deal with the anglosphere's sloppy seconds.

I dont get why CoH2 is praised to heaven when it does have actual crap flaws like super tanky infantry, crappy commander system and barely used unit roosters (Rush Panther and Brumbar lol). Only problems I can properly agree on is that the UI is terrible and the campaign map thing being rather stale.
Also people saying CoH3 has less content than CoH2, yeah duh because it just released while CoH2 did exist for a longer time - My main concern is what the DLC will be if anything
When COH 2 released i didn't like it a lot mainly because the campaign structure was absolute shit.
The reason why i liked CoH1 is because the missions were basically >here's the map >there are static/patrolling enemy units on the map >the goal is to clear the map from the enemy units and capture all points
It's like solving a puzzle, there were german defences and the goal was to overcome them using various units at your disposal.
CoH2 campaign has none of that, it's just random bullshit LE STORY crap with highly scripted missions and moronic mechanics. Overall the pace of the game is faster and there's a lot more unit spam and micro, it's very stressfull and it's like you need cocaine to keep up with what's happening.
The multiplayer is the same. Less tactics more micro.

I think i just like Commandos/Sudden Strike/Blitzkrieg - like games. Maybe CoH is nothing like it, but the first game had this feeling albeit it was slightly more arcadey.

I was in Alpha when soviets had wire forests available and ZiS bombardment was a starting skill with no cost and actual splash damage.
I didn't hate it but was lamenting the unstoppable influence of micropayments.
God it's frustrating getting back into this style of game. Every single time I look away to build a new unit or upgrade something I'm immediately met with "your engineers have been wiped out"
The time to kill is ridiculously low even when in buildings or heavy cover. It feels like half the time by the time I've gotten a notification of combat happening somewhere, I've already lost a unit.
