Why did no one tell me about this? The model 1914 Xbone controller might be the best stock controller I've ever used (aside from the dumbass staggered sticks but whatever) It's comfy as hell and feels noice. The texturing on the plastic and clicky pseudo omnidirectional dpad are so good. I'm genuinely surprised. So much so that now I'm kind of wanting to play games I'd normally use a mouse and keyboard for with this just for the feel.
Anyone else experience this? Also controller thread I guess, show me something better because this has set the bar pretty high so far.
My only complaint are asymmetrical sticks.
Same, it's such an awkward position. I remember some overpriced "pro gamer" controller with hot swappable sticks and dpad that looked cool but no idea if it was any good.
I bought an elite controller for $150 back in 2015. I still have it but the soft rubber on the back started to get sticky/detoriate. It's still a nice controller. Good weight. Great d-pad. It's micro usb and you need a special dongle to play on PC. Wished the buttons had more color than monochrome.
>aside from the dumbass staggered sticks but whatever
>My only complaint are asymmetrical sticks.
You're both homosexuals and need to jump off a bridge. assymetrical sticks are comfy as frick.
Idk man it just feels wrong
You get used to it.
In most games you push the left stick forward 90% of the time, that's the perfect placement for that. Right stick is mostly horizontal camera movement, also perfectly placed.
>push stick forward
>actually push it about 10-15 degrees to the right because of the moronic positioning
If it was so shit everyone wouldn't be copying it. Dualshock layout is so bad even HORI copies the xbox layout for their third party playstation controllers.
You don't use gyro.
>oh but I could hook it up to my wii emulator and emulate...
You don't do that. Prove it. Prove that you use gyro.
I use gyro every day. The sensor is a couple cents at this point, there was no reason for MS to not include it
My only complaint is no gyroscope
Those things are like a few cents, and they're the only popular controller on the market without one.
The Wii unironically poisoned the well for gyro controls, there are still a bunch of morons who will insist they don't want "gimmicky waggle" in their controllers and pretend that they prefer playing shooters purely with stick input
I wanted to replace my dualsense with one but then I remembered: no gyro.
Frick. Why hasn't Microsoft learned yet that it's the only way to properly aim on consoles?
>shooters
>consoles
licherally buy a computer
What's a good controller for PC?
DS4 with back button attachment.
Why would you want paddles on PC? Just use the keyboard at that point if you need more buttons OR just remap the controller
>pic related
No but seriously the current Xbox controller is actually very good. I used a DualShock 4 for the longest time and loved it but this beats the hell out of it.
>1, 2, 3, 4
soulless as frick
sup Ganker
Based as frick. Also what were the black and white buttons for? I never owned an original Xbox
i don't remember which one did it because it's been so long, but in halo 2 i believe the white one turned on your flashlight
Want to say black was grenade type
The OG Xbox controller didn't have bumpers, only two triggers on the front. Most games used the black and white for less important functions.
is this actually comfortable to use? also how durable is it?
It's very bulky but super comfortable if you got big hands. My stick started drifting like crazy recently but it was easy enough to pen the controller and remove the dust around the stick, works great now.
Also the D pad gets a lot of shit but I personally love it for how easy to click and silent it is.
>also how durable is it?
I once killed a man with it.
If only they spent the money on wireless instead of that pointless screen.
>d-pad game
Wii U Pro
>stick game
Xbone or Switch Pro
Been my controllers of choice for a while now, I wish I could buy a new Wii U Pro but I think I may have to do some deep refurbing on it soon
Is the Wii controller compatible with the pc?
it has bluetooth so yeah. use google or buy an adapter that does everything for you
Was sick and tired of Xbox controllers breaking after like a month so I got picrel and haven't looked back. Wish they made a wireless version.
Pro 2 is closest you'll get since M$ has a weird thing about only their controllers being allowed to work wirelessly on Xbox. Same guts internally.
I dont want to buy another controller for the dpad then hate the dpad, sorry chu
I seriously cannot even fathom how do you homosexuals keep breaking controllers or having sTiCk DriFt
I NEVER had a controller stop working or having drift. My og Xbox, 360, switch and Series controllers all are working as if they were new except for some wearing of the rubber parts
My guess is that you disgusting slobs just play games with cheeto dust covered hands and live in such a pig sty that your controllers get caked with shit
The only controllers I've had break on me are Xbox controllers. My NES, SNES, MD, N64, and PS2 controllers that I've had since their respective release all work as if they are new. I've went through 3 Xbox controllers in just the past year with the elite 2 failing in only about 3 months of owning it and very light usage. It's a known fact that Xbox controllers are dogshit.
anon hows the controller for you? I hate that the default xbox controller breaks for some reason.
8shitdo should release controllers with no labels on the buttons.
They do, pick the Game Boy color. Also has a dpad textured like a Game Boy's dpad. They sell colored buttons for SF30 Pro and SN30 Pro that you can swap in yourself too.
Putting the labels on the pad itself is even worse
Dont like it, i been using a 8bitpro 2 and its been good, my only complains are the backpadels could be larger and the controller could also be bigger. Favorite controller so far is the ps4 with back paddle add on, amazing thing wish there was a native pc version of it.
Anon my hands are cramping just looking at this. How's the feel of the buttons/sticks?
It's fine in the hands, if you can use a Playstation controller without dying it's not very different in feel. Buttons are great, sticks are good but you may want to fiddle with deadzones in its software if you have issues.
Its fine, i would say it's great. Not amazing, great. its very versatile, because it has a lot packed in. Works on switch, switch emulator, pc, feels great on older dpad centric games, has built in gyro which works great. Buttons are snappy and i never had problem with it, triggers are nice, should buttons are great too, easy to hold down but snap back quick and nice when let go, you can hold it down and it wont tire your hand. Bad things are stuff like back paddles feeling a little cheap and too short but they work fine, and overall the controller could be a little bigger, also the dpad should be bigger too. If i had to choose between OPs and the 8bitpro2, i choose the 8 bit.
I wonder if the new xbox version of that is any good. Looks to me - at face value - to be a controller that is good for absolutely everything due to the good Dpads 8bitdo's controllers are known for.
I have one and I love it. Only down side is there isn't a wireless version.
If 8bitdo didn't want to slob all over Microsoft knob to get the "official Xbox seal" they could make it wireless with the use of a dongle.
What are the triggers and analog sticks like? One thing so many controllers fall is an enormous deadzone on both and often for triggers a very small amount of travel making racing games unplayable on them.
No dead zones on the sticks. I'd argue that they are better than official xbox controller. The triggers are like the ps4/ps5 triggers. I love them but I know they aren't for everyone.
>The triggers are like the ps4/ps5 triggers
Hmm well I have a DS4 right next to me and while I would prefer a wider range of travel if it is akin to the DS4 then it isn't bad. Hmmm I am getting awfully tempted to buy one as it would be the one controller to rule them all for my needs (I would use my dualshock 3 but the left stick has ever so slight looseness and i'd rather not make it worse with heavy use and just reserve it for my PS3 and emulation, though if the 8bitdo dpad is as good as they claim then I have no need to use my DS3 for emulation at all).
Maybe I got a bad unit but the deadzones on my Pro 2 feel too big even after adjusting them. It's not bad but I also have an Elite controller that I use more because the paddles are way too useful with reWASD.
8bitdo dpads feel so fricking stiff for me and i hate deep triggers
The elite2 is so good, I recommend it highly.
Terrible rhythm game controller but pretty good outside of that.
it's shit for katamari damacy too
asymmetrical controls are moronic
Frick I didn't even think about that. Glad I still have a DS4 too
It's fricking fine if you're not literally autistic, I played through both PS2 Katamari games with it. You do not think about it, at all, literally never entered my head, ever, because the fricking controller is supposed to be an extension of your hand, if you've actually been a gamer for any number of years it should never fricking matter where the sticks are
It's not that it impedes it's that it's a bad design that was only introduced to compete with and be different from Sony
For me it's good enough for Project Diva
I completely agree, that controller has my favorite Dpad i've ever used. I love the clicky dpads, my previous favorite was the DSi's.
the only thing it's really missing is gyro, but since i use it for a PC controller, most things you would want gyro for, i would just play those games with m+kb.
Controllers make it easier to sit back and relax while playing, mkb players tend to lean/reach forward. Remember kids, good posture prevents aches, which means more fun playing games, and less time laying down to relieve the pain
Only chads can know true comfy
hunk of shit, the first was miles better
>bumpers stop working within a week
>face buttons start sticking or become unresponsive within a month
No thanks. I like my controllers to last at least a few years.
2 years later - still no issues
>My controller hasn't broken so there are no QC issues despite class action law suit showing otherwise
Donkey brained Black person cattle thinking there.
cope
Same here. One of the best all around controllers and the best Xbox style one I've used.
Assuming they all have problems is as dumb as assuming none of them do. Some people got the lemons, MS got a lawsuit to fix issues for those who had them, that's fine. Doesn't mean all of them are poorly made.
Honestly, DualSense is the best for this. Alternately, Switch Pro if you can deal with it not having analog triggers or whatever. Aside from that, something like the old Steam Controller was decent but lacked the RTStick. If they make a new Steam Controller 2 based on the Steam Deck, it will be a contender for one of the best around.
Isn't that shit like 140$ ? I can afford it but feels like way too much.
$140 would be okay for a controller if they didn't put dogshit components in it.
I refuse to buy outdated Hardware, Gyro is standard with controllers right now.
Which xinput wrapper actually works? I've tried a bunch and they don't do anything. Are there any drivers I can use to make the left stick and d-pad function separately? Should I get the Mayflash universal USB adapter?
PS2 controller btw
The king
>wrong stick placement
>wrong face button labels
umm...
I have one and it's pretty great. I would, without hesitation, buy an Xbox version and never EVER buy an official Xbox controller ever again IF they made it compatible with the Xbox Chat headset and gave it a headphone jack. I can live with the "meh" bumpers and soft touch feel that will inevitably degrade and feel like trash after a few years. The sticks, triggers, and face buttons make up for its faults.
The king kong 2 pro does interest me as at face value it does absolutely fricking everything but how is the directional pad on it?
I told you but you didn't listen
Legitimately one of the best d-pads in any controller. In /vr/, as autistic as they are are controllers, admits the xbone x's dpad is amazing.
maybe if it was in the right spot
It needs the ability to switch out the positions of the d-pad and stick, like you can remove and swap them.
Forgot pic, like this. I want a non-shit version of this.
good concept but that aesthetic is atrocious
I dont think swappable parts are a "good concept", chud
If only there was a controller like that.
Like
you could SWAP joystick and d-pad.
and we'd call it
the eSWAP or something...
steamdeck has made me realize back buttons are useful and not just a gimmick. any good affordable controllers that have back buttons/paddles that you would recommend? want to get one for desktop use and the xbox elite seems overpriced
I've had picrelated for about a month cos I lost my cheap pdp controller somewhere.
Pretty good, feels nicer than the pdp for $10 more and it has cool lights which is actually handy in the dark if you put it down to go for a drink or whatever. the adjustable triggers feature seems utterly pointless though, and the back buttons *WOULD* be great if they were extra programmable buttons but they can only mirror some other button which is very edge case useful. if they could be used for macros or something they'd be amazing. Also the l1 and r1 buttons either aren't sensitive enough or the travel distance is too short because if you only lightly press them they tend to flicker on and off. i suppose that could be a feature but I think it's more likely to result in accidental or non-presses than anything. at some point I'm going to open it up and see if shaving a little bit of plastic off the back of the button makes it more reliable. Overall, worth it for the fancy lights and better build/rumble but it's functionally equivalent to a cheapshit pdp.
forgot pic
oh and I keep accidentally hitting l3 in elden ring and unsummoning torrent in the middle of a fight but I think that's just my problem.
They just need to make a series controller with 4 back buttons and it would be perfect. I have the elite but I only use it for the pads. I have no need for anything else.
So what's an actual GOOD controller that has
>good dpad
>gyro
>low latency
>is comfortable
Or does it not exist?
I dont know. DS4 or DS5? Maybe some third party shid?
Soney's controllers dpad are always shit tho.
Boy, everybody is stupid except me.
i posted this
not really
That's pretty much what people always say about the DS4 and DS tho. Shitty, mushy dpads.
Was about to consider this but apparently it's also shit dpad?
FFs why can't Nintendo just use the same shit they used for the snes dpad?>
It's not as mushy as DS4 but it still feels bad
no analog triggers kind of sucks.
other than that god-tier tho. Shame it's fricking impossible to get it working in win7
>no analog triggers kind of sucks.
No it doesnt
Some people play racing games you turd
Noone actually plays racing games on Ganker. And the ones that do use the Wii wheel
Ok schizo, whatever you say
I use this too. d-pad is awful for fighting games.
I have to get a new Bluetooth adapter since I can't play like 60cm away from my PC without it laggy.
Just get a USB cable extension and place the dongle near the controller.
>d-pad is awful for fighting games.
Its literally half the point of using the controller, why dotn you just use an xbox then
>Its literally half the point of using the controller, why dotn you just use an xbox then
you clearly don't play fighting games. WiiU Pro is great for everything else except for d-pad and fighting games, it's awful.
I have a PS3 and PS4 pad but I really like the analog stick placement of the WiiUPro and I don't want to buy a new controller.
the wii u pro is a shit tier controller for modern games. I only use it for the dpad
i like it, the digital triggers end up being a plus since pretty much no games on PC outside of racing games utilize analog triggers anyways
also it has a nice shape to it, and the d-pad feels nice for 2D games
Mine got stick drift after 6 months. Still waiting for a repair.
increase the deadzone and problem solved
I got it in 2020. The best controller I've ever had. Too bad the right trigger makes a tiny bit of sound when I press it slowly. It keeps me up at night.
I love my Xbox controller
your head has a weird shape, like you're bald on top but with plenty of hair on the sides and back. like one of those bald trannies
Defective lb rb design that needs changing evey 6-9 months .
you literally have to breath hard on them with your mouth and click them fast after, or put some isopropyl around them and click fast after, you simply lack basic knowledge
Meanwhile I have a 10 year old Xbox 360 controller that is still working. And I didn't even have to blow on it either.
>Why did no one tell me about this?
You never asked.
what the frick do you fricks do to your controllers that cause them to break so easily?
moron
Xbox one controllers are literal trash. Buttons will just stop working after a year. Never had a problem with 360 controllers.
I hate that there's no gyro. This would be the best controller on the market if it had gyro controls. When the frick will Microsoft or their fans get their heads out of their asses about gyro?
>Face buttons designed to be used while your thumb is already occupied by the thumbstick
moronic design/10
Anon that... that's 90% of controllers
Wtf kind of bath salts are you on
I know. Modern controller design is batshit moronic
Are you talking about clawing or something?
What's the best gamepad for poorgay turdworlder?
chinese ds4 knockoffs are pretty good for price/value, they are pretty sturdy and you barely can tell the difference from the original, and even if it somehow breaks due to be chinese, you can get like 3 or 4 of these for the price of the original
Sometimes those knockoffs end up being 3rd shift products
The headphone jack doenst work with blue tooth and and the bumpers have no grip at all.
Those are my only gripes.
*blocks your path*
Shitty dpad
Nah it's so fricking dogshit. The best controller is the 360 one. It literally can't break, it's fricking eternal. Meanwhile I've destroyed two Xbone official controllers in like two years, those are the cheapest shit every made and I hope everyone responsible for the conception of this godawful controller die a painful death
The dpad is shit. Try beating clinger wingers on an Xbox controller. You can’t. The depression in the joysticks make your thumbs sore after extended sessions and the controller is made to be held upright in a non-relaxed position. The overall form factor is good but the rest makes it not very comfortable overall. IMO the PlayStation controller is superior. The thumbsticks are rounded, the d-pad is 4-directional like a d-pad should be, and the controller is designed to be held downward in a relaxed position. In other words, the buttons face the ceiling, not your body. It also weighs far less than an Xbox controller, which helps for overall comfort. The only thing the Xbox controller does better is the overall rounded shape. I guarantee you, you will feel less sore after using a PlayStation controller than an Xbox controller
>the controller is made to be held upright in a non-relaxed position
Compare the angle of the handles on the Xbox controller to the angle of the handles on the PlayStation controller and you’ll see what I mean
>the d-pad is 4-directional like a d-pad should be
It's like you've never played a fighting game
The dpad is the best damn thing of the series X controller, its absolutely perfect for circle motions in fighting games
I have a suggestion
>replace D-pad with clicky clitty mouse like those on ideapads (but clicky)
wouldn't that actually feel great in fighting games? Minimal motion, minimal friction burns, clicky feedback?
Razer did this with the wolverine tournament edition. It is a dice dpad for that click but is worthless for fighting games as they made it too small and the keys too far apart so you can't roll your thumb over it like you would more traditional dpads.
homie that ain't no clitty mouse
I missed where it said clitty as I read it as clicky.
You never asked.
As someone who spent too many hours on this pointless question
>I want plug and play compatibility
Xbox One
>I want to play 4x and RTS on gamepad
Steam Controller
>I want a Gyro
Dualsense or a Switch Pro controller depending on preference
>All of these are too expensive for me :((
Buy generic copies. The ones advertised on Sony/Nintendo/Xbox stores are usually better.
That's it. Stop overthinking it.
Found the worst controller
at least they used the correct ABXY layout
Is a Bluetooth controller good now or still terribly laggy?
If your bluetooth dongle is inside the computer case it still kinda sucks.
>gyro
I will never understand this stupid meme. I've literally never used that in my life
>"I don't understand this!"
>Hasn't used it
Gee I wonder
