The original Heavenly Host story ended with Blood Drive. Dead Patient and Darkness Distortion are just sequels with their own stories. Those stories could easily be one and done with those games alone and not be an overarching story like HH.

none of these characters have ever experienced anything like heavenly host before and that's why the two who did go there get killed, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into despite being 'experts'
