Ryujinx feels smoother when the game isn't compiling shaders, but the shader stutter is very jarring. I couldn't find Bayo 3 shaders to download so I went with Yuzu. The stutters in cutscenes make the audio desync so your cutscene audios will almost always be delayed in Ryujinx due to the compiling.
On Ryujinx, yes. Hasn't crashed for me on Yuzu. The desync happens when the game stutters in cutscenes. Since that doesn't happen nearly as often or as bad in Yuzu, it's barely noticeable when it does happen.

there were multiple times where I couldn't even see my character amidst all the glitter and fireworks that explode on your screen with every move
it makes the final boss in 2 look crystal clear in comparison

Origins explains everything everyone whines about in 3 (Luka and Bayo's relationship, the sudden introduction of Lukaon, Viola and Luka's fairy powers, Singularity).
The real problem here is that Origins should have released before 3 and capitalized on the Bayo drought, then when everypne played it and got acquinted with the new lore drop 3 to give the whole thing a satisfying conclussion, a massive issue until this day is that a ton of people don't know anything about the broader context of the story, particularly pertaining Luka and Viola and they keep falsely believing those things just came out of nowhere.
sure, bayo 1-3 require multiple playthroughs to get all content and for gitting gud, but also they exponencially change stuff with each installment, so be prepared to modify your play style when you jump between them
also goes without saying but there's a high chance that you're gonna get skullfricked (either by enemies or by the ranking at the end of each stage) during your first runs, as i said before these games are meant to be played over and over again

I think they compliment each other but I think it's because they're both idiots. Luka is just a plain overconfident idiot. And Bayo is basically what happens if you hand a kid superpowers and they grow up being able to win at everything without having to work for it, which is like saying Bayo is a bully and an butthole. Like at some point she probably walked into bars and fights everyone inside. And so it's easy to see she likes this stupid fricking idiot who takes any amount of punishment and keeps on coming back when any other sane person would nope the frick out.
And I say this because by the end of the first game I lost my attraction to Bayo because I realized she wasn't very smart. She is quippy and sassy but there isn't a hint of irony or self-awareness about her. She never at any point shows if she's aware of how cartoonish and cliche she is.
So when people get angry that she hooks up with Luka, I feel like those people have no fricking clue who these characters are. Yes, she is a strong woman, but she's a fricking idiot just like Luka. And people angry at the fact she hooked up with an idiot are unaware that she too is an idiot.
I like that Origins put forward that Luka's attempts at eloquent lines and elegant flourishes are his natural princely nature shining through and that Cereza actually likes that sort of thing even if she'd never admit it until she's on death's door.
He can nut in Bayo all he wants, I just hate that he had to be made into some weird multiversal fairy king/werewolf guy. Luka was cool in 1 and 2 for how his normal-guy nonsense could undermine the intentions of super-natural witches and sages.
He saves himself and Cereza with just his grappling hook in 1 and also helps get Bayo to the city while driving.
He saves Loki and gives Bayo the space she needs to beat Loptr's ass.

And even before that point I feel like this wasn't a game where any shit made sense or that any real effort was made into making the lore more cohesive in 2. From the beginning there was only one rule and that was rule of cool, which basically is like the Studio Ghibli of video games, the visuals come first and it's hacked together with a story that is any reasonable assessment kinda shit or played out a million times before and better such as in the very legends you cite. I don't feel like this is the place to look for good writing she's really just there because more is better.

Homunculi are not only entirely divorced from any iconography lifted from either Dante's inferno or the art of Roman Catholicism, but they're also incredibly one-note. They're jelly. Unlike the Angels (porcelain surface with an organic internal) or Demons (mechanical surface with gemstone internal), Homunculi are just Jelly with Jelly internal. They look like fricking toothpaste puddies from Power Rangers.

I did some cross-referencing and one thing that stood out to me in terms of staff from 1 and 2 compared to 3 and Origins is that Hashimoto (Producer of 1 and Director of 2) left the company in 2019 and the producers, writers and directors for 3 (which includes NONE of the producers or directors of 1 and 2 except for Kamiya as a writing credit) but Bayo 3 and Origins share 3/4 producers

Viola is the biggest issue because for someone they want to replace Bayonetta, she's a loser. Like, being funny doesn't mean you have to be a loser. If anything, Luka's greatest feats in Bayo 1 and 2 are his slapstick catching gods and super-natural witches by surprised. He should be like Reigan in Mob Psycho, bumbling his way to success.
That's another thing that I feel like Bayo 3 got wrong about Luka, aside from the idea of giving him powers at all. He's kind of fricking up with his grapple hooking but the whole gist of Luka is that he salvages frick-ups at the last minute or just succeeds outright. Like his first scene in Bayo 1 is him outsmarting and outmaneuvering the local Vigrid authorities successfully. He's not as put together as Bayonetta but he's not a failure.
I also didn't like that they didn't really let him do anything journalist-themed. You don't pick up lore articles from him, and he isn't investigating a story or anything. Luka in 3 feels like some weird flanderized self-insert version that a person who PLAYED bayonetta years ago wanted him to be.

That's not a retcon. It doesn't say that faries live in Inferno. Places in the human world have been described as particularly close to Paradiso or Inferno before so the boundary between them isn't so straightforward.
Different universe in which Lukaon killed Cheshire and absorbed him, then killed Puca and took over as king of Avalon.
Bayo 3's Luka is the reborn Lukaon from Origins, which is the story of Brave Cereza who eventually became Bayo 3.

what about gameplay performance? ryujinx tells me about le 60 fps but it still feels sloppy for some reason. it's like the frame time is fricked
Ryujinx feels smoother when the game isn't compiling shaders, but the shader stutter is very jarring. I couldn't find Bayo 3 shaders to download so I went with Yuzu. The stutters in cutscenes make the audio desync so your cutscene audios will almost always be delayed in Ryujinx due to the compiling.

On Ryujinx, yes. Hasn't crashed for me on Yuzu. The desync happens when the game stutters in cutscenes. Since that doesn't happen nearly as often or as bad in Yuzu, it's barely noticeable when it does happen.
Last time I tried it was a few months ago and it ran bad. Makes no sense coz 1 2 and origins all run perfectly
the particle effects + the giant summons probably have a hand in that
there were multiple times where I couldn't even see my character amidst all the glitter and fireworks that explode on your screen with every move

And so it's easy to see she likes this stupid fricking idiot who takes any amount of punishment and keeps on coming back when any other sane person would nope the frick out.
And I say this because by the end of the first game I lost my attraction to Bayo because I realized she wasn't very smart. She is quippy and sassy but there isn't a hint of irony or self-awareness about her. She never at any point shows if she's aware of how cartoonish and cliche she is.
So when people get angry that she hooks up with Luka, I feel like those people have no fricking clue who these characters are. Yes, she is a strong woman, but she's a fricking idiot just like Luka. And people angry at the fact she hooked up with an idiot are unaware that she too is an idiot.
I like that Origins put forward that Luka's attempts at eloquent lines and elegant flourishes are his natural princely nature shining through and that Cereza actually likes that sort of thing even if she'd never admit it until she's on death's door.

From the beginning there was only one rule and that was rule of cool, which basically is like the Studio Ghibli of video games, the visuals come first and it's hacked together with a story that is any reasonable assessment kinda shit or played out a million times before and better such as in the very legends you cite. I don't feel like this is the place to look for good writing she's really just there because more is better.

Homunculi are not only entirely divorced from any iconography lifted from either Dante's inferno or the art of Roman Catholicism, but they're also incredibly one-note. They're jelly. Unlike the Angels (porcelain surface with an organic internal) or Demons (mechanical surface with gemstone internal), Homunculi are just Jelly with Jelly internal. They look like fricking toothpaste puddies from Power Rangers.

I did some cross-referencing and one thing that stood out to me in terms of staff from 1 and 2 compared to 3 and Origins is that Hashimoto (Producer of 1 and Director of 2) left the company in 2019 and the producers, writers and directors for 3 (which includes NONE of the producers or directors of 1 and 2 except for Kamiya as a writing credit) but Bayo 3 and Origins share 3/4 producers

Viola really needed more scenes like this. I get that wanted her to inherit the Luka slapstick but surely the Bayo MC powers had to kick in a bit. Frick Strider luka could power through.
Viola is the biggest issue because for someone they want to replace Bayonetta, she's a loser. Like, being funny doesn't mean you have to be a loser. If anything, Luka's greatest feats in Bayo 1 and 2 are his slapstick catching gods and super-natural witches by surprised. He should be like Reigan in Mob Psycho, bumbling his way to success.
That's another thing that I feel like Bayo 3 got wrong about Luka, aside from the idea of giving him powers at all. He's kind of fricking up with his grapple hooking but the whole gist of Luka is that he salvages frick-ups at the last minute or just succeeds outright. Like his first scene in Bayo 1 is him outsmarting and outmaneuvering the local Vigrid authorities successfully. He's not as put together as Bayonetta but he's not a failure.
I also didn't like that they didn't really let him do anything journalist-themed. You don't pick up lore articles from him, and he isn't investigating a story or anything. Luka in 3 feels like some weird flanderized self-insert version that a person who PLAYED bayonetta years ago wanted him to be.
