Could be dlc, but I think it's a new game. I don't remember them making this big of a deal out of Amplified.
Yeah, they definitely didn't, but it also seems weird that they would put so much effort into quality of life updates if they're just going to make a sequel. Either way I'm looking forward to it.

Unironically this, I never managed to beat Aria's final boss and I'm still seething about it.
I love the game and I beat pretty much every character except Aria and Coda.
Seriously, though, having only one try to learn a new boss after going through a 20 minute perfect run is fricking rough. Especially those fricking wall dragons on the side. How the frick are you supposed to know their patterns before they fire the first time? You can put yourself in an auto-lose by just playing normally.
I can do Aria just fine. Bolt is the one I've never been able to do well with
