It's "fun" but that's all there is to it. It's not new, it's not revolutionary, it's lacking in so many features, the story is pretty bad, the characters are wasted, there's no roleplaying and honestly the combat is just Fallout 4.
It's new in the sense that it's the only large-scale, open-world Cyberpunk game with high production value out there. It's not like with fantasy where if I don't like Elden Ring I can play Skyrim, Diablo, Kingdoms of Amalur, Oblivion, The Witcher etc.

I think its close. Ton of the bugs were removed, but it needs the DLC upgrade with cop changes to be worth it.
Why were so many people obsessed with the cop system since launch? Its not like you can steal shit or join a gang, infact its the opposite you are doing the cops job by hunting psychos and gangs. I dont see how a GTA style star system is going to enhance the game. There are much more important gameplay and plot holes.
immersive reasons, and yes, there are plenty of people who play these games just as kill a bunch of people and evade police simulators
immersion and the existing system being so shitty. you don't need a 1:1 ripoff of the GTA system but having drones and cops teleport out of thin air was the laziest possible application of a system and extremely immersion breaking. just having cops appear naturally around the area and have escalating responses to your shenanigans (or hey what about the situation, what if cops got called in when your firefights with other gangs and runners get spicy?)
The anime was cool.
Check the requirements for the dlc, then wait another year till the dlc is under $20 and the bugs have been patched out

you can get it now but there's a big DLC patch on the way that's going to add a bunch of stuff to the base game. no idea if there'll be a sale then as well.

i finished it a month ago and had an absolute blast, never played it before. its not really a RPG, more of a first person immersive shooter with some rpg traits but its really cool for what it is. its worth checking it out for the world alone, because its amazing and filled with charm

It still has major bugs, is still missing a lot of content that was shown in early footage/trailers and generally speaking, isn't that interesting of a game. Certainly not bad but it's not good either. The anime genuinely saved the games reputation and somehow people decided that the game was fixed despite bugs like character models still randomly T-posing being in the game.
I just bought it a couple of weeks ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. Very little bugs or issues and I do find it similar to Witcher 3 where there’s great characters and quests.

that's normal gameplay on mouse/kb. may look too fast if you play fps games with controllers.
they really balanced it around V doing a lot of the side content like gigs or cyberpsycho encounters in the interludes where main characters specifically say something will take time, do something else
biggest thing it suffers is that the augs are underwhelming. You have shit like double jump that changes the way map encounter play off but most of them are flat stat boosts or highly situational temp buffs. Compare it to something like Deus sexes where almost every major aug changes your approach to the game in a major way
That and the looter shooter elements were not really necessary. Flat weapons with more exotic boom cannons locked behind major plot progression would have been completely fine. But yea, similar to W3 in that regard
It's not a bad game, but it has no soul, unlike Witcher. A lot of aspects are underwhelming, not finished, or not thought out well. Example: enemy netrunners can only do "overheat".
Yes it’s worth playing, especially if you have a high end PC. I would buy it and wait for the new 2.0 that will ship with the DLC next month before starting a playthrough, though

I thought the same and after some people told me they fixed the bugs and trying it for myself: it's absolute trash
bugged to frick, way too much fricking blabla and not enough combat, the driving in the game is unironically worse than fricking GTA 3, I don't even know how they fricked up the driving this bad, and the 'RPG' elements are boring as frick and it's yet another game that takes you 40+ hours of grinding fetch quests to finally feel like your skill tree choices matter; and by that point you're done with the game
not even mods can fix these issues due to how fricked up the engine is
the voice acting and the story are the only good parts about the game, if you want a long ass interactive movie, it's probably okay
if you want a game, find something else

The game continues to be a mediocre boredom, the only thing that changed since release was that they fixed a lot of bugs, but not all of them, and that they released an anime.
