I would assume the formula was something like x^n where x is the number of different possibilities for each thing you can customize and n was the number of different things you can customize.
why are you assuming that the 2nd option only has 29 customizations
and so when you get to the 30th option you are saying that it only has one customization but thats moronic

They are unisex design because blizz can't be bothered with making two different models for them, that and I'm pretty sure they have metrics on what people play and girls and guys both usually don't care enough about female non-humans. You see it in other cases too. Guys think the monster guys are cool, but girls and guys would rather just have a human looking woman than a female non-human.
If you had 80 things you can add or change to your character, the amount of possible customization options is ridiculously high. This isn't actually that impressive. There's likely that many or close to it for any game where you can change your character's appearance with combinations of outfits/colors/accessories/facial features/etc in the last two decades.

I made a game where you can select 3 different hats, and 3 different mustaches for your character. From those options, you can get 16 possible combinations including wearing none of them. From 6 accessories, you can have 16 combos. 8 would be even higher. 40 would be leagues and bounds higher. You can see how it all stacks up. This is banal marketing that makes the game seem more impressive than it actually is.
