Aim is braindead easy in this game, or are you saying it's anything less than point and click close-midrange? Sure they require some form of leading and movement prediction at extreme range, but for 95% of cases they may as well be point and click.
Possibly bad phrasing on my part, I meant more the fact that they're instant effects upon casting. Moreover, getting the abilities to land unless you're at extreme range is little more than point and click with a minimal charge time in some instances. Like even with warden and seven specifically, you have to be fairly close to activate the ability and even then, it leads to a countdown before anything happens which in most cases you can easily make yourself safe. Compared to paradox/haze punishing you for playing the game at quite literally any range depending on player skill. It's not the fact that they're "skillshots" it's the fact that there's little counterplay if your parry os baited out, much less in duo lanes.
I usually just parry them at this point after learning how the game works more, but I disagree with you saying it's hard to land those shots. It's pretty straightforward if you aren't bad at aim in general.
i think you really need to try and picture where this game will be in lets say 2 years when people get really really good at the movement. i understand where youre coming from but i see this line of thinking in even fighting games where people only look at balance and characters when it's current and not when the players get good at it.

Yeah both haze and paradox abilities come out instantly. The only way to dodge is by doing a hard read and dodging before the enemy even fires.
You can get ready for the parry when you hear the paradox charge up, but an invisible haze sleeping someone is apparently not only hard to do at all ranges, but also easily countered as well lol. I'll stick to stacking spirit on warden and hitting my "I win" button while stacking fleetfoot, sprint, and w/e the tier 3 spirit item that boosts movement is called once glass cannon is bought.

I unironically have 70 hours of game time from watching high level MM players. Specially ex overwatch stacks play the game and not once have I felt like Paradox's charge attack or haze's sleep is unfair. We're talking about the best players in the game playing Paradox/Haze and knowing their ins and outs too.
I'm still a noob with only a week of play, maybe it's my gross lack of understanding. I've benn soft abusing haze/paradox/sniper lady + warden combo in dual lanes and don't see a real counter to the strat. If haze sleeps you lvl 1 and warden starts the jail you quite literally just die. This isn't just one match, the combo is so effective we've only lost 2 matches from a week of play. I get that I obviously need to play and learn more, but I don't understand what an enemy is supposed to do aside from not getting slept/charge shot/tethered to begin with.
I mean, you're obviously coordinating with a friend against shit players so I don't know what you expect. Of course the results will be good against an uncoordinated team.
A good player would play around their own teammates and won't over extend because they're aware of what Haze+Warden combo can do in a lane. There's plenty of cover in the game where you could still last hit and you could rely on your teammates to gank. They could switch lanes with another character that does better, or they could just resort to jungling.
Anyways, every moba games has these character combos that are really good in lanes. There's not a single moba game that doesn't have that shit. Look at the many combinations you can do in Dota 2 for example.
Guess I havent ran into any "good" players then, I'll reserve judgement until I play more competent players. I do think though if you personally are watching the game and not actually playing it's hard to understand what im talking about, even if you hig the spot right next to your tower and get slept you still die. I personally think through my very limited playtime that Haze's dart alone enables so many other shenenigans that it's nothing short of IMBA for it's ease of use. Pretty much, on average. Sometimes if you are in high MMR you can have a game end in 20-25 minutes if it's a complete rollover, and if you are in low MMR you can also have games last 60 minutes because people don't know how to end.

Learn others. Also, you only have to select 4 heroes to queue, but you can favorite 2 of them by rightclicking, and there's like a 99% chance you get either of those two, unless you get super unlucky.

It's two-fold. 1) This an alpha test where you are meant to be testing all the different characters to find bugs, glitches, etc. and give feedback for changes, 2) It's to allow the matchmaking to queue everyone up faster since there's like ~2000 concurrent active players at peaks.

I wouldn't recommend Paradox to a new player. Not sure what that other guy is on about. She's basically a ganker that requires you to know what the enemies can do, who to gank, when/where to initiate and how to use her ult without getting yourself killed 24/7.
She isn't marked as beginner friendly because she's very reliant on good aim and good ganks, and her ult has a lot of potential for misuse. But her base gun is very strong, she has an AoE grenade, she's oppressive in the laning phase, she jungles well, etc. Definitely not hard to pick up if you have enough shooter experience that you can hit her carbine shots, imo she's more beginner friendly than, say, McGinnis. I would take the game's recommendations with a grain of salt.
I would suggest that you play the tutorials first, and then after that go into the sandbox mode and just try them all out and see what you like the best. It's impossible to suggest something, because almost everyone plays different, except for 3-4 of the characters who basically just "M1 DPS with some abilities".

It's objective fact that shit heroes exist. Looking at DotA, heroes like Bristle and Morph have a ~40ish% win rate in the highest ranking. That means in capable hands, they are shittier than other. Now I'm a total shitter so any loss can and probably will be on me, but that doesn't change the fact that some heroes are just better than others.
There's a big patch every week where buff and nerfs happen all the time. Do you care that much man? Sure, you can main one of the top 3 but they could be hella nerfed next week.

All heroes are good in their own way. Every hero is 100% viable. The only one that's a bit meh overall is Haze because she just doesn't offer much with her kit, but you will still be fine with her if you aren't in high MMR.
The best ones to have on your team if they are fully competent would probably be Lash, Yamato, Bebop(if they great at hooks), Ivy.
It's really too early to tell. There have already been several heroes generally considered trash that people just had to figure out how to play right, and heroes that seemed good early on that are dead weight in high MMR games. That's not even taking into consideration the weekly balance changes.
I genuinely don't think I could point at any hero in this game and say they're bad enough that you shouldn't play them.

Naked is probably one of the better McGinnis players in the playtest rn and runs her constantly in high mmr games, dude accomplishes basically nothing. At best she contributes really well to split pushes and stealing enemy jungles, but she isn't carrying games where players know what they're doing.
Mcginnis might not 'carry games' but if the character's sheer presence is leading to wins despite not getting a lot of kills, it's a strong character. I think the reason Naked hasn't unlocked mcginnis' true potential is because the guy is obsessed with splitpushing and ratting instead of using her obscene farm to invest in teamfight items
You can run naked's build but I highly recommend starting to farm actual utility items after echo shard like knockdown, curse to help your team take favorable teamfights because mcginnis is a support and people who build her like a carry are wasting potential
Unlike nu-dota icefrog is actually handling the balance so the game is balanced around everyone being op as frick, pick whoever you want

NTA but I think there are less 'meta defining ultragods' at this game than you think. Not only does it require high level moba knowledge but also twitch/movement shooter skill. There is some crossover between moba and fps players, but a pro at both genres is very rare.

Who said anything about the numbers? The high MMR lobbies are featured in the watch tab. I spectate them daily to understand the game, so I can give Valve feedback on things like metas, hero balance, item balance, changes that need to be made for beginners to understand the "high ranked" things better, etc.

Most Hazes you play with probably suck major ass. She is supposed to roam the map the the entire early game diving and scooping kills from all the lanes. She will make the whole enemy team shit themselves and build bullet resist, that's when your spiriit teammates can shine

Some of the "themeing" to the characters makes zero sense to me. Why have chloromancer shit on a gargoyle? Why can't it just be a gargoyle, like Visage? Why does the engineer hero also have two abilities that talk about ghost shit? The heal looks like a regular heal canister, but the name is something about spectre. Then she has a ghost wall? That the frick is that? Just give that to the ice guy instead.
The entire overall theme of the game is literally 1920s alternate universe with occult/esoteric stuff. Also, some of the stuff you mentioned like McGinnis cannister is just a holdover from when the game was Neon Prime.
Anon the entire setting is about the world suddenly being fully immersed into occultism and witchcraft.
They can't just be an engineer or a ghost, they have to have something special to set them apart.

Press the heroes tab on the main menu, select a hero, press the BUILDS at the top and you can now browse and favorite community-made builds instead of using the default recommended one for that hero.

You can. It's just bugged sometimes. If you open up the shop while in a game, there will be a small bar at the top where you can change builds.

At first you probably won't know, but if you look through enough builds then you can tell which items are usually included in the good builds.
Also, you can read the descriptions. If there's a long ass description that goes through a bunch of things, then it's very likely not a troll or shit build.

if you go into this game thinking damage is the only thing that matters you are going to suck, this is not a DM fest, you need macro and strategy.
in lane phase only use M1 to last hit minions and poke the enemy. Also spam cooldowns whenever they are up for farming/bullying enemy. When you are winning your lane enough or if there is no minions go to other lanes and gank opponents. Also Dynamo is a terrible solo laner so I hope you were at least in lane with someone else. He's more support.
This game is 70% MOBA and only like 30% FPS/TPS. You need to farm, you need items, you need item knowledge, you need hero knowledge, and so on. You can literally be the best aimer in the entire world, but if you don't have actual items, then you won't do shit.
Also, Dynamo is more of a support. You should play him like Enigma from DotA, if you know who that is. Basically get Majestic Leap + Refresher. Then your entire job is to leap in, ult, refresh, ult on as many people as possible.

When the enemy melees you.
some characters have a "sprint" mechanic where if you don't deal damage or take damage for a few seconds you gain movement speed.
all characters can get this mechanic by buying sprint boots and you should be buying divine barrier because you can spam it on yourself for shields in combat and just use it for the bonus sprint speed when you're running towards a fight. the cooldown is only 20 seconds so it'll be back up by the time you need it.
you can also buy fleetfoot if you're playing a character that wants to be running around while shooting (mostly if you're playing a weapon build).

Having never played an ASShomosexualS before I've begun to realize just how much economy is the single biggest deciding factor in this game. Even more than raw skill.

the problem with asking this question right now is that we don't know what the lane meta is gonna be when the game is done, in dota most of the farm goes to your core carrys in a prio of 1-3 while the 4 and 5 supports get the rest. but generally you want to be farming lanes and then retreating into the jungle when there is nothing else to do or you need a safer place to farm in.

There is no actual answer for this, because it's completely fluid depending on how your own farm is, how other people's farm is, how your enemies farm is, what time of the match it is, what's going on in the game, what heroes do they have, etc. etc.
That's the beauty of MOBAs. There's almost never a match that's the same as another one. There's constant small variations that you will have to react to all the time.

at around 2 minutes, push your wave and farm the crate/jars that spawn on the map, especially if you're in the 2 inner-lanes because the middle of the map has a huge trove of them. you can get souls as drops and you can get like 300+ just from opening the crates and jars in the center, enough to usually get you another item to edge an advantage on your opponent.
neutrals should be farmed on cooldown whenever it's safe to do. killing enemy heroes is always something you should do if you can but not at the expense of missing last hits and denies. if you focus on harassing enemies too much you're inevitably going to miss farm because you had to reload or weren't in position to melee the minions.
if you're getting shit on, focus on getting last hits and denies and let your tower get dumpstered. it's not important in the grand scheme of things and you can deny the souls that pop out when it falls.
I just jumped into the game and mostly didn't pay attention during the tutorial, and proceeded to spend near 1 hour in a bot match on easy. I may be moronic.

There's some tooltips that are inconsistent, buggy, or just outright wrong. Look on the forum if others have reported on it.
it seems to be already taking into account another bonus, such as the item itself or the tier of the item automatically giving bonus damage, which stacks additively within the bonus
like another thing is giving it a percentage and then the +25% is added on top of that and its only showing the 'threshold' part of that increase
This is the item from the first tier Hoolow Point Ward, and it actually already includes the 6% bonus from the item tier on the left side of the screen (Which is also calculated wrong should be 3.7~ dmg increase but its calculated as 2 somehow for light melee)
This was also done with no other items
Adding onto this, if you have a character with base Spirit Resist (like Seven or Mcginnis), if you buy Spirit Armor or Improved Spirit Armor you dont get the full amount, meaning its not a percentile but a flat amount of some sort.
However negative amounts DO NOT work this way and always gives the flat amount for characters making it a much bigger buy for them (Vindicta, Pocket, etc)
This can lead to this type of weird scenario that with 0% Spirit Resist you dont get the full amount

This is probably generally true but it seems snowbally in high mmr games too. I spectate features matches all the time and a lot of those end in under 30 minutes. Basically whoever gets rosh first wins, esp with the new super creeps.
i had generally the opposite where i've had multiple mid bosses go down a match so i really don't know.
I think there's probably a sweet spot in skill level where people know how to stop the enemy snowballing (split pushing, farming jungle, playing objectives) when losing, but not how to decisively close out a game when winning. One of those high mmr stacks will literally take rosh, push base, and if they somehow don't win then and there, they just sit around farming neutrals until rosh spawns again and they just kill him for another push. It's pretty cancer t b h. I'm happy in my mediocre mmr lobbies.

Split push. Attempt to get pickoffs. Attempt to secure rejuvenator. Attempt to farm. Get items that counter what they are doing.
Someone goes to rat, forcing 1-2 enemies to back, team kills the leftovers, rat hopefully doesn't die. A lot of builds/heroes can also be countered by one or two items and turn the game around very quickly

When are they adding new heroes? You can actually play as 3 new ones including several super unfinished ones in the Sandbox by pressing F7 and using the command citadel_create_unit, then afterwards typing in hero_name [insert hero name]. Then you just hold Alt and look at the model and select Take control. Shiv, Holliday (Astro) and Mirage seem mostly complete. Shiv is like 90% done, Holliday 80%, and Mirage 75% done, just going off my observations. If this is anything like the Dota 2 alpha then heroes SHOULD be coming soon... Also, was there ever a point in time where there was less heroes? Or was it always the original 19 since the beginning? I am going to assume the alpha didn't begin in earnest until last early April.

There's the default recommended + there's community made builds/guides.
There's a recommendation tab it's worked well enough from my limited experience
The suggested build gives you ideas as play more and start to tweak it dependong on how you like to play.

What graphics settings do you guys use? I got a 144Hz 4k panel and can't get that from the game without turning a lot of settings down.

Not really. Dynamo and Ivy can both heal, but they still need to actually farm and shoot shit.

The closest things to healbots still have to be playing the game properly, shooting and wading in to dole out stuns and cc
dynamo's heal is the only one that you can't shoot while using by default, and it's going to be on cooldown most of the time
healers are expected to pull their own weight
