You can already tell from that webm that they tried crippling the rocket jump movement. Plus we've already seen a few instances of them killing advanced mobility in the game. It makes sense for the kind of game they are making here. But it's clearly not TF2.

Some characters are built on the premise of their ultimate ability, and can be the balancing factor to ensure they always scale well at certain points of the game.
There are plenty of "ults" that are just a somewhat strong ability on a long cooldown, instead of the Overwatch and League way where most ults are teamfight bing bong shaBANG shit. Not that there's anything wrong with those either but as always, IceFrog keeps it more interesting.

Interesting how I hear the opposite from the Surefour stack. They argue that the laning stage needs to be more punishing if you do bad and more rewarding if you do good. The implication is doing good or bad in lanes doesn’t matter too much.

There's three issues at hand here imo:
>1) Laning is too punishing for some heroes, while other heroes not only scale but they're also either decent or extremely good in lane, nearly guaranteeing a headstart that transforms into a very solid lead which transforms into faster items which transforms into the ability to spam clear camps and waves much faster
>2) Laning is also not rewarding enough if you do well, the problem here is qualifying what doing well means, kills? cs/denies? taking tower first? I feel like kills should reward way more while cs/denies feel just very slightly too rewarding because certain heroes just have absolutely insane guns, this is not dota where everyone has a right click and there's just variations of it, no, a lot of guns feel worlds apart
>3) Lane does not feel controllable enough which goes back to the 2 other points, if you're on a bad matchup you CAN play around it and lose tower and it's all expected to happen, some heroes just auto win it on similar skill level, but the lower impact is meant to allow you to NOT insta lose, at the same time, heroes that can hard bully and auto win lane can do so very easily which guarantees several things depending on skill levels, towers, power ups, camps and ganking
It's a really weird mix of not feeling rewarding enough when you DO good and feels even worse when you go against the odds and win a tough lane, yet also too easy to win with some heroes which rewards them just enough to exert that into the whole map while the loser is playing catch up because they picked a hero that doesn't auto win it and thus has to farm less effectively

Then the issue of bullies that scale remains where they can just take nearly every cs, take tower/hard push and then just rush all the rng consumable/souls shit while you're hugging tower because your hero genuinely cannot compete in that regard, making what was an almost equal match into one where the one pushing and hard harassing auto winning it every time.

I do agree you should be allowed to bounce back, but laning is also extremely ineffective despite being some of the most, if not most skill intensive phase of the game.
Hence why kills should be more rewarding, with better wave control, controlled power ups and maybe even consumables, while the already existing mobility options, not dying is very easy to do without sacrificing so much, yet dying doesn't feel THAT negative in lane.
In comparison, bomb rushing the frick out of some frick and hard poking while also csing because you picked the better laner is insanely effective because it now opens up the camps, consumables and ganking, eventually tower too and there's very little a lot of characters can do against this.

I disagree, objective taking is always beneficial in this game, it stops a lost teamfight from randomly flipping the game, and it's more than rewarding enough for hard carry characters to begin the snowball.

Strategizing, smart play, allows heroes that are not good in lane to actually fricking play, allows skill expression and other playstyles to emerge, another point of balance, etc, right now the meta is evolving to this
Just rushing the frick out of someone and then snowball because taking tower in combination with cs/drops, camps and ganks is way too effective when you do it in several lanes at once.

By itself "winning" lane via kills doesn't mean much which is an oddity in this game, because pre 5:00 kills don't really put you much ahead in souls unless you line up a situation where you kill someone under their tower without falling below 50% HP.
The real way to win lane comes from winning through winning trades/harass every time and making the enemy lane play scared as shit and giving space to you, so that you can constantly push lane and get their tower down first, at which point you push other lanes to get the tower AP snowball. If you get 4 towers down and they have at most 1 tower, it's a huge snowball effect and not many players are cognizant of it at high MMR featured matches right now but the ones who are, are winning a lot more off of it.

A lot of it is predicated on the fact that the game randomly assigns you to lanes and you can't even draft a proper lineup yet.
On the contrary, I think that if you could organize lanes the problems would be even worse because it would allow you to pick and tear apart certain lanes.
Also a lot of high mmr matches are already doing that and just swapping lanes at the start.

Start 3 --> Sand blast enemy then run around and last hit then fall back.
Level 3 in lane for the +2 duration
After 1 level in 3, level 2 twice afterwards.
After this, you should start shoving waves hard and mostly jungling. Your 1 gives you sustain against medium neutrals, your 3 disarms then for more sustain, and your 2 is a huge AOE damage that fricks up jungle camps.
Farm Tempest Pulse and keep jungling. You can leap out at overextended enemies and ult them for free kills. Make sure to level your Ult twice for the +1s duration. After 2 in 2, 2 in 3, and 2 in your ult, work towards maxing out 2, the decreased cooldown and increased movement speed lets you frick people up.
After Tempest Pulse, you farm a lot and get Phantom Strike. You can now frick up anyone even remotely out of position. Make sure to let your teammates know who you're jumping on and ping them while you're jumping at them/ulting.
After this I love just tanking up. Buy fortitude. Buy Spirit Armor and Bullet Armor. You can even buy Unstoppable if you're balling out of control. Late game just run around like an insane butthole, constantly popping out of the ground and damaging in a huge AOE and jumping on overextended targets and beating the shit out of them with your ult. Use your 3 when you can catch their damage dealers and disarm them to really change the tide of fights. Spam 1 near enemy heroes to stay healed. gg.

Go try out Bebop if you want to get mad, you can both last hit and deny instantly with absolutely zero counter play from 30 miles away and there's nothing the opponent can do.
All while being able to instantly nuke anyone DARING to move an inch from their cover (and even then hook very often goes through walls)

A tier 1 dying early is actually not that bad in a vacuum, it gives you a ton of breathing room and pretty much a free lane to farm.
The problem is everything that comes with that as the tier 1 dying means you're gonna be behind on souls, power ups and now the enemy is roaming and about to take another one or killing people.
Hence why adding more complexity to the laning so the better player can maneuver around it feels like something that MUST be done sooner or later.

I wouldn't go that far yet. With the addition of the air down dash from the latest patch, it is getting closer though.
Adding more mobility items and maybe adding a move to maintain a bit more air mobility, like a wall jump or something, could really enhance the current movement options.
I think you can even do two air dashes now since they separated the front and side dashes

It's not smart. You're wasting time not farming jg around the map and minions are dying being unfarmed. Your teammates shouldn't be fighting while people are side laning if the enemy team is grouped together. So it's is almost always your teams fault if they get wiped while you aren't there. Obviously if you are so far ahead you can just end the game or take objectives you should not keep side laning

I think this game is actually in a earlier stage of development than I first thought. I think Valve has only just agreed upon a story and an aesthetic, and the heroes that look detailed are being pulled by the earlier renditions, and the more shitty models are characters created specifically for this story. Ivys mouth isn't animated. Atlas's coat clips and is awful and terribly undetailed. Shit like that.

The reason why people lose a lot in low rank is because the team is uncoordinated and no one knows what the frick they're doing. Having one player with cheats won't suddenly carry shitty teammates. The other team that is more coordinated will still win.
headshots do 2x damage and there are a handful of heroes that lean into reliably landing headshots to do burst damage with their main guns. 1 cheater using aimbot with such a hero will be very noticeable. also the usual wallhacking shit. this game is not impervious to cheating.

I played 10 casual matches in a row yesterday and there wasn't a match full of bots.
Tf2 is fun, and I'd enjoy a deadlock promo. But the idea of it making redditors mad make me laugh.
I think most people who mock TF2 fans are people who still enjoy TF2 the game and are just annoyed by current TF2 goobers being loud and annoying (and about something they could largely fix themselves)

You know what there ISN'T demand for? A third person competitive MOBA that is so painfully out of touch that as soon as I got access to the closed beta test. I IMMEDIATELY had to show a few people on discord can you BELIEVE this is what Valve is working on right now. A Pvp game that will GUARUNTEE be botted to death and full of cheater on week one because valve refuses to tackle the problem. hold tab, you can hover over just about everything on screen including other players and see all the abilities. if it's marked with a pentagram it scales with spirit

i have been asking this since the first game i played. there is no point in being good at aiming if at the end of the day the game revolves around which team can simultaneously press 4 better. this is reinforced by the fact headshots arent as important and health pools are even bigger than in quake.
if you want to shoot play a character that shoots good and buy shoot damage items (most of the cast). snowball hard enough and it'll feel like enemies don't even have quake health pools but cod ones
But that would involve being able to aim, playing the game, and having skill to dominate with in the first place.

It would be assumed it uses the same anticheat as other valve games until something gets announced. It would be more of a stretch to assume a new anticheat when nothing's been announced.
It'll most likely use something like CS's AI anti cheat but it'll work differently because the AI will need to learn differently in Deadlock compared to CS. So no, it's not the same anti cheat as other valve games.
