Giving Scout an easy way to deal with swarms would make him as busted as Engi is. There's little reason already enough to have Gunner in the game, if you make everyone perfectly capable of sweeping the trash they may as well just remove him.
I explained it in my post. If Scout gets a really good trash clear weapon as a default he basically doesn't need any of the other classes for anything (the engineer can benefit from a good driller and vice versa but really good engineers and drillers already don't need other team mates), and given that class balance is already dubious with the Gunner objectively being the least necessary part of the team, if they remove the Scout's one weakness (inability to easily sweep trash) they may as well just remove classes altogether and let everyone pick whatever primary secondary and traversal tool they want.
Actually allowing full customizable unrestricted class loadouts would drastically improve the game but I'm not arguing for that, just explaining the dev's reasoning why Scouts don't get weapons to help them AOE swarms effortlessly.
Pheromones alone invalidates Scout's weaknesses already. Scout's major problem is ammo efficiency (which most Engineer builds struggle with as well).
More options is never a bad thing.

Works on my machine. The few times I play solo I just tag the nearest Guard or Praetorian or, even better, any Oppressor with a pheromone bolt and I have half a minute of peace. Only time this doesn't work is if swamers are in the spawn pool, but that's what my Drak is for. I only take the Pheromone cans on PE. Otherwise I have Boomerangs instead.
The thing with Pheromones is that they scale up in uselessness the more players you have due to increased swarm size + an uncoordinated lobby means you cannot get the most out of the statuses. Big dumb dwarf see big shiny praetorian being a glowBlack person with pheromones and instantly prioritizes it for whatever reason.

Grinding Scout has given me a chance to play with these weapons more than I had before. I really think that Scout started with his best weapons. The Zukovs with explosive reloads, might be the only other thing I've found that's worth using.
M1000 is the best primary no argument but unless you're speedrunning 100% WR carpel tunnel syndrome and have a box of mouse's on hand to replace all the worn out M1 buttons the tried and true Deepcore is much nicer to use.
M1000 is better for group play, when Scouts actually shine. You can dedicate your build to high value target kills, keep your team alive, and mine minerals. Letting the rest of the team kill the regular trash mobs.
When you're playing solo, the M1000 falls off, because there's not as many HVTs, and your secondaries are going to run out of ammo eventually.
I'm grinding Scout to Gold 1, while grinding the solo achievement, so take my commentary with a grain of salt, when it comes to regular team play.
What's funny about it?
Scouts aren't trash killers in team play, but I'm playing solo, so I'm not going to use the M1000 and run out of ammo.
The M1000 is clearly designed to be used with the Zukovs, and the Zukovs are fun, but not designed around solo play. Their accuracy is very clearly meant for close range only, and the M1000 is for long range. Leaving the my preferred attack range, of medium, left in the worst spot.
The Drak has the same accuracy problem as the Zukovs, and the Boltshark has the same HVT ammo problem as the M1000.
The AR/Shotgun combo gives me enough ammo to trash kill, kill at medium range, and still fight HVTs.

I'd say it's still worth getting into, but if you just want to ride the FotM train, that Lethal Company game seems to be "it" right now, for some reason. To me it just kinda seems like phasmophobia with a different coat of paint.
I bought it this weekend on sale and I'm having a blast. The community also seems surprisingly nice, the people didn't mind me being completely clueless the first time I've played some of these modes, or when I got lost navigating the caves and helped me.

It's not that Scout having waveclear options would make him OP - he has builds like Bouncy DRAK or Explosive Boltshark already - but rather that he should be getting options which are relevant to his class role. Scout is made to be the game's best single-target killer and anything that reduces that aspect of his role is just throwing. A Scout focusing on killing Grunts is objectively a waste of time because he's not going to do it any better than a Gunner or Engie.
It's the same reason why Cryo Cannon sucks, I don't expect Driggers to be freezing Praetorians when I want them to be taking care of trash mobs like Grunts and Swarmers. Either play a class who's suited to waveclear, or do your job.
You can just take cold radiance and tapfire it and instafreeze every grunt on your screen, then swap to cooker and instakill every grunt on your screen...
And that setup is STILL the optimal one for large bugs on top of that due to how radiance is coded.

Cryo Vampire is overrated as frick, all it takes is one slasher to sneak in amongst the frozen enemies, land a hit and then all that health you've gained from drilling grunts is gone.
You can use Drills to chop up grunts with any loadout, you don't need cryo for it and I have no idea why cryogays pretend you do. More to the point you're wasting tool ammo on killing enemies when you could just be getting rid of them outright with a better primary.
It's the same problem of Special Powder but reversed. You're wasting weapon ammo on mobility when scout already has a tool literally dedicated to getting him wherever he wants to go.

man, I remember one of the cooler members of the community in the early days dropping DRG because no one would acknowledge the acid spitter problem; no unique sound cue to let you know that it's around, the shell barely glowed at all so you wouldn't see it without a scout, and the projectile was basically a 1-shot on H5
Generally, any problem related to damage is never going to be noticed on Haz 3. A Haz 3 acid spitter needs a max roll to even break an upgraded shield.
Only reason why people noticed stingtails as a problem was because of how unnecessarily they disrupt your gameplay.
Besides, acid spitters are only really a problem in tight corridors. Out in the open, they're a means of encouraging communication and teamwork by way of abusing your scout for more flares.

I can only speculate anon, but a few things that come to mind that might be related to your issue are: > FOV
Higher FOV gives you greater distancing from objects at the "cost" of higher apparent movement speed, while lower FOV does the opposite. Third person games have a nice balance with this, since the camera will be away from your character regardless, you will feel less speed even with higher FOV. I'm aware you mentioned you tried changing it, I'm just pointing things out. > Framerate
In VR especially, lower framerates / refresh rates make people sick far more easily than compared to higher ones. If you play on a low refresh monitor, or with low frames per second, you might try increasing it for more smoothness? > Moving first-person models
Things like guns wobbling, going up and down based on your movement, and such might make you feel more immersed / "claustrophobic". I'm not aware if there's any "no animations" mod for DRG, but perhaps a "no weapon model" mod might (given there's always a try-hard.
If I were you I'd give Team Fortress 2 a try, especially with mods. Not even for the game itself, just to experiment with mods and settings such as "no viewmodels", "high fps configs", "fov / viewmodel fov settings" and such, so you might figure out what the root of your issue is. I wish you the best of luck figuring things out.

What I got a problem with are these numerous shitter engis shitting up the game pinging shit on the wall and refusing to splooge a single platform there to make it super easy to mine even though they're clearly not out of platforms because they haven't dumped a single pile of foam out of their anywhere else in the goddamn map except at the foot of the one 4m "cliff" they jumped off of 2 caverns ago because they were really worried about that 5 whole damage they'd take to their shield.

temperature shock is overkill on trash and negligible on big enemies. keeping enemies on fire so you can combo it into other heat weapons or to trigger a fire spread chain is almost always the better option. if you're running cryo you better kill the shit you freeze or double check none of your teammates are running fire or you're actively hindering your team.
Hot Bullets Minigun, Incendiary PGL and White Phosphorous Boomstick have all been in the game for as long as Cryo has existed and are all best in slot for their respective weapons. You should spend more time playing the game instead of arguing with strangers online.

Vampire fricking sucks and I'll never understand how it got memed as ever worth taking. 5 health is absolutely nothing in this game even on Haz 3 and below, melee is intentionally terrible and is a last ditch act of desperation most times, and if you're being a barbed drilltard Piper Perri'ing yourself by wading into a swarm of bugs you're never going to actually gain health - at best you won't die and be left with a sliver of a bar, all while being totally useless barely killing anything. Even if you're a god with impact axes hitting 3-4 bugs with each one, you'd still get 240ish health back per mission with it max, which isn't even enough to top you up twice. Meanwhile red sugar is everywhere and resupplies keep you topped up.
It's because of Iron Will. Red sugar and resupplies aren't always conveniently close to where you die, especially if you're not playing Scout. A single +5 is enough to keep you from falling a second time.
Complain about Iron Will all you wish from this, I'm simply explaining the reasoning.

The only reason to take Vampire is with Iron Will.

They have special mission types based on the biome, only one available per cycle
Currently the most complete one is the 'water' biome, which is more or less a giant water slide that plays like a tf2/cs surf map
Another one is a crystal themed map where the colors of the crystals are randomized and have different effects when they're shot, mined or stood on, such as explode, electrify, bounce the player, expand, ect.

Spending both health and ammo on mobility is an objectively bad decision and it's only done by either Ritalin-addicted zoomers or Scout mains who can't play the game without constantly grappling. There is no situation where RJ250's rocket jumping is necessary to beat a mission. Engineers should be focusing on killing bugs and providing access for the Scout to focus on getting those minerals.
It's not "invalidating Scout", it's Engineer wasting time and resources on something he's not even supposed to be doing in the first place. I'm just as likely to kick a jumping Engineer with terminal main character syndrome who isn't just playing the fricking game as I am to kick a Scout who isn't getting minerals.

hyperprop is too niche, requiring the co-operation of three different randoms. Specifically, that gunner take either autocannon or non-heat hurricane, while driller has to give up the status effects of cum cannon. It requires your driller to not be a shitter and immediately get downed.
Also, generally requires scout to take cryo nades, else the dreads will be half dead by the time they're actually frozen, given that team mates aren't just going to wait around for dreads to freeze.
It's far less complicated for engi to just take shart and overdrive boost when necessary.

PGL is more practical than BC since you dont have to line shit up or wait until bugs are literally on top of you and it doesn't have the projectile bounce bug. Ease of use in itself is valuable for consistency. You got Executioner LOK for burst damage. Shard is just straight up OP, VIR is so busted it's not even funny.

Are you seriously advocating something like 22231, presumably just for Mactera Spawn? After sneeding about ""sacrificing"" your secondary slot? And all because you can't wait 2 seconds for fire to kill grunts/slashers.
Technically the only thing a PGL build needs is to hit 140 AoE damage which secures kills on Slashers and Mactera Spawn. Clean Sweep is optimal for this because you can run CACBA which gives the best ammo-to-kill radius-ratio. Incendiary's only advantage over regular PGL is the lack of falloff but if you're running a no-damage shitter magnet like RJ250 then not only are you waiting much longer for fire to kill bugs, you're also much more reliant on heat spreading to secure kills on Slashers. You're also dead weight vs Mactera.

in 6x2 and higher RJ250 is usable for quick missions like short mining or PE where going fast is more important than going hard. Its also usable if your team already brings extra firepower and your scout is already very busy.
in 8x2 or lx2 its not super rare to take it on refineries cause scout is going to be a busy boy, but id recommend this to a more skilled team. Amazing if you combine it with cryo for maximum tempsocking when bunkering
otherwise hyperprop is still very nice in modded difs, allows engi to dump ammo to quickly take care of stationaries or robots

Which monolobby y'all consider to be the funniest? Engineer gaming is pretty nifty with its potential synergies, but gonner lobby is pretty fun as well.
All Scout is funnest. All Engi is strongest. All Driller can be fun and fast but too many players are literal dogs that cant conceptualize three dimensions or destructive environments so its a crapshoot if half the time will even dig at all, 4 competent Drillers is a very fun mole squad.

Bunkering on salvage is EZ mode but you have to have a Driller that understands bulk detonators exist and to drill the box and fuel further than 5m down. Also to actually clear out a space instead of keeping it as tight as JLaw's butthole. The reason I don't bunker on Salvage is because it makes it far too easy.

They provide a small aura of light in a 1x1 foot radius, it's pathetic, anon is full of shit. maybe he's talking about them in terms of being a landmark piton, but caves are easy to navigate and you can place waypoints, so idk what he's on about. Probably has a brightness mod or something that makes them ultrabright.
Zipline lights are about as bright as a burnt out flare. I wish they were as bright as a Scout's flare (and frankly they fricking should be, given how near worthless zips are functionally) but you are playing with mods if that shit lights up more than a square meter for you.
I don't know why you insist on trying to lie about something everyone who's ever played the game knows is false.
The Zipline lamp lights up a hard 6m spherical area around it. When I say hard I mean there is no soft light past that point, at precisely 6m away from the zip everything is pitch black.
For comparison, a single thrown flare lights up roughly 15-20m around it with bright light and casts an additional 10-20m of soft light past that point where you can still see through some of the shadow, giving you roughly 25-40m of light.
You could carefully space out your zips and dump all 4 of them (5 if you're dumb and took ammo instead of range/degree) into an area and you'd still get less light in that area than you would from one single thrown flare.
You're playing with mods or your eyes don't work. Pick one.

there are 2 primary responsibilities of gunner >use guns
this one is fairly obvious, you have high uptime on all of your primaries so you should be mulching anything that comes towards the team. don't neglect your secondaries and grenades or your ammo economy is going to be fricked >use shield
obviously there's the coward's option of shielding someone for a revive. But you wanna know what's better than a revive? Your teammates not dying in the first place. Keep tabs on where the threats are and how close your team is to being overwhelmed, a well-timed shield will let the entire team blast their way through a tough spot instead of needing to reposition or scatter. but even then it's still worth knowing how to judge swarm size vs your team's swarm clear and repositioning if forced to
as far as ziplines go, think about the 4 classes in these contexts
scout: the best at moving through any space the team creates
driller: sculpts the landscape by destroying it
engineer: sculpts the landscape by creating more
both driller and engineer can manipulate bug pathing too
gunner: improves an existing landscape by attaching a permanent fixture.
as gunner you're not expected to terraform the planet to your liking, you're looking for ways that you can improve things by making it easier to connect point A to point B in a majority of cases, but you can also mindfully place them to also provide a safety net for long falls. Also with angled zips you can use them to provide faster transit across otherwise flat ground.This is the kind of structural improvement that only really makes sense in areas that you're expecting to hang out in for longer than a single wave, so point extract and refinery are the best caves that can generate since the objective is a central location that every dwarf will spend a decent amount of time returning to

Engis are bigger nigs with their plats. Scouts get the most blame for not using their tools but engineers are the king shitters and drillers are a close second, I hardly ever run into competent engis or drillers who actually make everyone's job easier with well placed plats or drilled shortcuts. It takes all of 10-20 seconds to platform everything in your average cavern but you'd swear engiBlacks only get 3-4 of them max the way they hold onto that shit and never contribute at all, no stairs, no quick cushions underneath ledges, frickin nothing.
I do like that they let players jump right into the game but the fact basically everyone is a major shitter even on haz 4/5 regardless of rank shows that a forced tutorial is necessary to explain basic frickin courtesy to these c**ts. And the tutorial should mostly be forcing players to try and accomplish a task like mining a high up vein as scout or running to a far off drop pod as gunner or something else that's a major pain in the ass with no help and then after they inevitably fail add in shit like plats under minerals or a tunnel shortcut to the drop pod and show that using common sense and the mother fricking class tools you got makes everyone's life easier and make the round go by way faster.
The major difference between a greybeard and a cavenig is that the greybeard actually uses his tools more than once a mission and actively helps the team. I don't give a shit that Scout isn't lighting up the cave, I have my own flares and I'm not blind so I can actually see the shine minerals give off in the dark. Gunner can't contribute anything anyways so I don't give a frick what they're doing. But drillshitters and especially enginigs not doing their jobs actively makes the mission far harder than it has any right to be and shit players using those classes need to be called out far more often than a piss poorly played Scout is.
the thing is that the QoL of simply being able to see is so much greater than a couple platforms or drilled shortcuts. you can kinda mountain goat your way around most maps, so driller is more of an OSHA compliance worker who makes everything wheelchair accessible, whereas engi just makes scout's job easier. personally i find it more annoying when an engi doesn't build turrets during a mission that has lots of swarmer/jellyfish spawns

Engineer and driller are the workers. Gunner is a slow defensive class and scout is a fast offensive class. The gunner can stick around, while the scout goes exploring, but the scout can also come back and defend.
Obviously that's not how the game works exactly, but Engineer and driller are job roles. Gunner is clearly a defensive role and scout implies exploring, which makes them more offensive. Being lightweight and fast is important.

Haven't played since a little afer rockpox go introduced cause I was getting bored of all my builds and didn't have the drive to make new ones. How's the game been since?
On modded servers with 8/10/unlimited players, I find engineer and driller the more popular classes whereas extra Scouts/Gunners are rarer and usually diamond-legendary promoted. Anecdotal as frick, sure, but it's consistent enough for me to notice.

Slag doesn't, but if you waste all your C4 making craters, the bugs will sometimes path around the crater since it's technically shorter for them to walk around the rim, depending on how deep/concave the crater is

Did Overcharger on coilgun get buffed? I heard something about it, but I'm not sure. I want to maximalize the damage on it, so I can have easier time doing the necro-thermal explosion with larger targets like praets as grunt melt too quickly.
On other news, I think I started to git gud with Minigun. Sticky grenades prove to be more useful that I thought as I can quickly think out the swarm before engaging it without losing the visibility due to flames.

But yes, I agree- taking 2.83 seconds to fire a shot just doesn't feel worth it, compared to just blasting out one that's only 60% weaker in 0.33 instead.
Necrothermal has a %30 damage boost vs burning targets so you'll have an easier time scoring lethal hits on burning enemies innately. Overcharger isn't really worth it for any build. The accumulated bonus damage is wasted if you have an Overclock which affects the direct damage of the Coilgun. It doesn't work with picks like Mole or Triple Tech Chambers where it would theoretically be a good pick.
There's really no reason to ever build the Coilgun for direct damage when Bulldog or Burt will always be better options for such a role. Even a build with CFM can still proc necrothermal without having to take direct damage mods.
I see. Overcharger indeed takes too long to kick in properly, so for now I settled for controlled flow as charging is fast enough without perk for my needs.
Necrothermal is fine, but it doesn't work for my build (Thinned Drums Minigun with Hot Bullets) as normal bugs die too soon to fire and I generally get to use the explosion on Guards if I get lucky. If I were to make use of it, I would have to use Burning Hell or incendiary grenades, where the latter kind of makes the upgrade moot.
Currently I have a 22223 Coilgun with UMG as sort of multipurpose tool (wrecking conga lines, crowd control, spitter sniper, long-range plinker), but I started to notice the smae problem I had with fear mod on Autocannon - it spread the bugs around, making tracking them harder while as a gunner, I rely on bugs lining up nicely for me to shoot. It also doesn't really scare them well enough to secure the spot for revive/resupply. Thus, I'm wondering if I should pick the stun upgrade instead of fear, but the stats on it seem lame with no certainty and pretty short time considering the firerate and resistances on haz 5.
Also, is there any reason to pick larger trail size instead of electric trail?

Not sure if it's just my shit computer or connection but everytime this shit spawns it totally kills my frame rate for a solid 3-5 seconds and it's wound up killing me a lot when it happens mid swarm or when I'm close to a hazard and get frozen.
I still can't believe Rockpox was the best garbage they could come up with when there was so much more lore stuff already in the game they could've built off of, like Ebonite or Kursite mutations, or the Xynach's collecting a bunch of abandoned kit down in some weird pit and assembling some kind of weird half bio half machine mecha that shows up to frick shit up. anything that modifies terrain (bulk/opp/nem digging, meteors, and lost helmets) makes the game freeze and will drop frames. this has been nothing new, meteors just make it more obvious.

It's only a microstutter on mine so...
I first get the stutter, which immediately warns me something spawned, and thena second of normalcy, then the 3-5 freeze. It even happens when new players join midround...but never when resupplies or the drop pod or cleansing pod are called.
It'd be nice if they could fix this jank but instead we're getting a spin off game absolutely nobody asked for and which is a rogue-like at least 3 years past rogue-like's peak popularity which is explicitly a bunch of new stuff they could've added to the base game in season 5 including long awaited new perks, guns, oc, etc but they decided they had done too much work just to drop a phenomenal season 5 and be happy with that and instead took the best stuff they had and are now going to make it Rogue Core exclusive while shitting out a handful of content for season 5 that's still months away (and will probably be much longer because GSG has shown they've gotten lazy and complacent).

I get a 2-3 second long freeze whenever someone joins, but only for the first join when I host. Anything past that doesn't freeze, but if the first join leaves (causing Bosco to return) and another player tries to join my lobby, the freeze happens again.
I have no idea why this happens but it's been an issue since Season 2 when they changed what version of UE4 the game runs on. You can trace back a lot of bugs in the game to that point, and the game in general has only become buggier since that patch.

This is the type of shit I'm seeing about Rogue Core that really concerns me. The character development seems atrocious. It's bad enough it's a roguelite so everything you find and collect is gonna be worthless for future missions (which goes directly against the main reason to do missions in DRG) but all the upgrades are meaningless dogshit like "+%12 crit chance" or "health regen below X threshold" and it's all completely meaningless
Weapon building in DRG is simple and fun, and if you die it's probably because your build in bad. In this game, you're going to die if you don't get the lucky +%500000 damage bonus upgrade within the first 2 minutes, like every roguelite ever. Choosing to make a full roguelite game feels like it's pandering to the "all builds are viable" hazlet shitters who throw a tantrum if you ever try to just discuss weapon or overclock balance.

From what I can tell there's going to be no classes either, which makes me believe there will be little verticality in the game and terrain destruction will be extremely limited and gimmicky and like most FPS roguelikes this will be a hallway shooter. It's like the devs are intentional trying to make it shit by taking away everything people actually like about DRG. Bullet sponge enemies+Gunner tier movement through levels+luck based weapon effectiveness+long drawn out rounds. Fricking imbeciles lmao
The only good thing I can see is that we won't have to suffer through this dogshit in the core game itself (though I easily see them forcing it in as a new mission type as part of season 5 which would be fricking hilarious) and that MAYBE we might finally get some new weapons and OC ported over from RC itself... though given how awful these devs have gotten since the whole battlepass garbage started I doubt any of it will be any good. At this point I wish they'd stop adding anything to the game and just fix all the stuff that's still broken/unfun and leave it the frick alone because everything they add is becoming increasingly worse and worse.

I wouldn't look at the RC promo material too harshly, it seems like they released it only to make people shut up about season 5. I doubt they had anything more than some design documents and prototypes done at that point. It's just smoke and mirrors. Besides, I think they would rather underpromise and overdeliver than have it the other way around.
That being said, I have absolutely zero interest in rogue anything, I've tried the genre couple of times and Hades was the only game that I didn't immediately dislike (probably because it was specifically pandering to roguehaters like me with its strong story). I imagine there's a lot of DRG players that will just ignore Rogue Core and I have no idea what sort of carrot they need to wave around to make coop players try it because griping narrative won't be one for sure.

Honestly, the big problem is that they're going for such an oversaturated subgenre (action roguelikes) that has a huge amount of extremely strong competition. And from how they described their plans (runs lasting up to 25m, with each stage being 5m), it sounds like they're going to remove/highly disincentivize the one thing that could distinguish them from other games: digging and terrain destruction.
Until any kind of gameplay previews become available (which I doubt will happen until after closed alpha), the only thing it has going for it is that its Deep Rock Galactic-themed, just like their shitty Vampire Survivors clone.

I finished all the skin unlocks on the Season Terminal, for the Scout. Finished all the Seasonal Missions. Didn't start the Scout Promotion missions yet.
Feels good to be able to play another class finally. My final seasonal unlock(snowglobe helmet missions) was a Liquid Morikite. Felt so good to be bridge building with the Engineer, instead of wall chipping my pipes upwards with the Scout.

If they want to play a certain playstyle, then you accommodate it to the best of your ability, or leave. I wouldn't trust randoms to be able to kite properly, so bunkering is the smart choice when pubbing. You were in the wrong, even if you're able to kite properly.

Considering they keep trying to say that they're done with major updates to the game, it seems like season will genuinely be the last one before DRG becomes full on maintenance mode. I'm getting about 95% of the slow moving through the ring, about 85% of the medium moving through the ring, and I mostly just skip taking the kick on the fast moving.
I've watched the video guides, show when to take the kick, on the fast moving times, but it's such a small window, that I fail way too often on them.
it's partially luck, which is why I nudged my very close attempt that was like 7 points short with cheat engine, you'll go mad attempting it legitimately
basically never take a kick you know for a fact you cannot make because the bounce was too fast, and try to take advantage of streaks of slow bounces as much as possible

No. Go to karl.gg and look for yourself. Carve Diameter is it's own stat and is 6.2 by default. Rock mover adds 9.0 for a total of 15.2 and is the only mod that does so. That mod is strictly damage radius.
True greybeardism is a bunch skills you can't really learn unless you already got them. Situational awareness, understanding how bug pathing works, being able to aim, being able to prioritize threats at a glance, fundamentally understanding the game isn't about killing bugs but completing objectives efficiently, knowing what your class is supposed to be doing and do it, understand spacing and not hop on other people's dicks crowding them and wasting time doing the same thing they are, etc.
You either get it or you don't. No amount of time playing can install the basic skills if you don't already possess them.

These are the specific things you need to learn, to be a good team player.
Note: Knowing how to properly use your class tool, usually means being somewhat familiar with all 4 classes.
You won't know how to properly use of the Engineer's platform gun, if you don't know the limits of the Scout's grappling hook or the Gunner's Zip-line.
You won't know where, when, or who you use the Gunner's shield on, if you don't understand roughly what each of the different classes are expected to be doing during combat, and how they approach the fight. There's little reason to waste a shield, covering a Scout, because they're going to zip away, in 3 seconds, but there's a lot of good reason to help the Engineer, because his turrets keep him in a general area.
You should want to promote each class at least once, to be able to access all the different game modes and upgrade slots. Don't get overwhelmed with how many missions there are to complete, as a new player, just choose the ones that make the most sense to unlock first, and slowly chip away at them all.
Beyond all that, you just need to learn the weapons. Don't try to spend all your resources, unlocking everything for one class, and don't spread your resources across all the classes. Be more logical about what you unlock. Don't start buying upgrades for your weapons, until you get a feel for them, because you might waste a lot of resources on upgrades that you never end up using.
Note: There's a bunch of overclocks that can drastically change how your weapons work, so you might dislike a weapon, and then all of a sudden, a new overclock makes it your new favorite.

stickies (again, all his grenades are viable, but stickies have the most versatility. primary use is for the fear, sticking praets to make them turn around and frick off, but you can throw it on the floor in front of a group of grunts and it cleans them up pretty nice. there's some gimmick with the leadburster where it's able to kill a bulk detonator if you spam all 4 under it on haz2 or something, kinda useless tbh)

I explained it in my post. If Scout gets a really good trash clear weapon as a default he basically doesn't need any of the other classes for anything (the engineer can benefit from a good driller and vice versa but really good engineers and drillers already don't need other team mates), and given that class balance is already dubious with the Gunner objectively being the least necessary part of the team, if they remove the Scout's one weakness (inability to easily sweep trash) they may as well just remove classes altogether and let everyone pick whatever primary secondary and traversal tool they want.
Actually allowing full customizable unrestricted class loadouts would drastically improve the game but I'm not arguing for that, just explaining the dev's reasoning why Scouts don't get weapons to help them AOE swarms effortlessly.

Pheromones alone invalidates Scout's weaknesses already. Scout's major problem is ammo efficiency (which most Engineer builds struggle with as well).

Works on my machine. The few times I play solo I just tag the nearest Guard or Praetorian or, even better, any Oppressor with a pheromone bolt and I have half a minute of peace. Only time this doesn't work is if swamers are in the spawn pool, but that's what my Drak is for. I only take the Pheromone cans on PE. Otherwise I have Boomerangs instead.
The thing with Pheromones is that they scale up in uselessness the more players you have due to increased swarm size + an uncoordinated lobby means you cannot get the most out of the statuses. Big dumb dwarf see big shiny praetorian being a glowBlack person with pheromones and instantly prioritizes it for whatever reason.

Grinding Scout has given me a chance to play with these weapons more than I had before. I really think that Scout started with his best weapons. The Zukovs with explosive reloads, might be the only other thing I've found that's worth using.
M1000 or bust
M1000 is the best primary no argument but unless you're speedrunning 100% WR carpel tunnel syndrome and have a box of mouse's on hand to replace all the worn out M1 buttons the tried and true Deepcore is much nicer to use.

M1000 is better for group play, when Scouts actually shine. You can dedicate your build to high value target kills, keep your team alive, and mine minerals. Letting the rest of the team kill the regular trash mobs.
When you're playing solo, the M1000 falls off, because there's not as many HVTs, and your secondaries are going to run out of ammo eventually.
I'm grinding Scout to Gold 1, while grinding the solo achievement, so take my commentary with a grain of salt, when it comes to regular team play.

Scouts aren't trash killers in team play, but I'm playing solo, so I'm not going to use the M1000 and run out of ammo.
The M1000 is clearly designed to be used with the Zukovs, and the Zukovs are fun, but not designed around solo play. Their accuracy is very clearly meant for close range only, and the M1000 is for long range. Leaving the my preferred attack range, of medium, left in the worst spot.
The Drak has the same accuracy problem as the Zukovs, and the Boltshark has the same HVT ammo problem as the M1000.
The AR/Shotgun combo gives me enough ammo to trash kill, kill at medium range, and still fight HVTs.
You're arguing with a bunch of self-important zoomers who want every class to be able to do everything at once, because they're unable to grasp the concept of each class having distinct roles for the purpose of a coop game. Don't waste your energy arguing with them.

It's not that Scout having waveclear options would make him OP - he has builds like Bouncy DRAK or Explosive Boltshark already - but rather that he should be getting options which are relevant to his class role. Scout is made to be the game's best single-target killer and anything that reduces that aspect of his role is just throwing. A Scout focusing on killing Grunts is objectively a waste of time because he's not going to do it any better than a Gunner or Engie.
It's the same reason why Cryo Cannon sucks, I don't expect Driggers to be freezing Praetorians when I want them to be taking care of trash mobs like Grunts and Swarmers. Either play a class who's suited to waveclear, or do your job.

It's not a "combo weapon" when one of the guns only exists to set up the frozen status and the other is dead weight without being used on frozen enemies. The Cryo doesn't "combo" with anything with its pathetic damage output and short range. You're deluding yourself into thinking you're doing a lot of damage only because frozen enemies seem to take a lot of damage, when the amount of ammo you're spending overall is comparable to what you'd get from using actually good weapons like CRSPR or Pump.
Bullet Hell Minigun and Volatile Bullets Bulldog is a good example of an actual combo setup. Both of these guns can still do a lot of damage on their own, but combining them gives you strong single-target damage that you can use to quickly kill important enemies like Spitballers or Menaces before they can damage your team. Cryo *wishes* it was that useful.

Cryo is the best generalist loadout for driller and I say that as someone who used to despise it.

It's not without flaws as sticky fuel and goo do damage on their own and they don't interfere with fire builds but versatility matters more than anything else for carrying bad pub players.
Cryo Vampire is overrated as frick, all it takes is one slasher to sneak in amongst the frozen enemies, land a hit and then all that health you've gained from drilling grunts is gone.
You can use Drills to chop up grunts with any loadout, you don't need cryo for it and I have no idea why cryogays pretend you do. More to the point you're wasting tool ammo on killing enemies when you could just be getting rid of them outright with a better primary.
It's the same problem of Special Powder but reversed. You're wasting weapon ammo on mobility when scout already has a tool literally dedicated to getting him wherever he wants to go.

Generally, any problem related to damage is never going to be noticed on Haz 3. A Haz 3 acid spitter needs a max roll to even break an upgraded shield.
Only reason why people noticed stingtails as a problem was because of how unnecessarily they disrupt your gameplay.
Besides, acid spitters are only really a problem in tight corridors. Out in the open, they're a means of encouraging communication and teamwork by way of abusing your scout for more flares.
Most players play on Haz 2 or 3, where Acid Spitters aren't a problem because the hazard scaling hasn't busted their damage at that level.

The utility with objetives and revives (at higher HP) is very nice and definitely way better than the average rando
But it does shit all to assist with the things that will actually kill you- the enemies. Biggest thing is that it doesn't take any aggro, so you have to deal with every single enemy rushing you. Even in a carry situation the downed shitters act as infinite LURES, so you have way less pressure at any given time

I can only speculate anon, but a few things that come to mind that might be related to your issue are:

Higher FOV gives you greater distancing from objects at the "cost" of higher apparent movement speed, while lower FOV does the opposite. Third person games have a nice balance with this, since the camera will be away from your character regardless, you will feel less speed even with higher FOV. I'm aware you mentioned you tried changing it, I'm just pointing things out.

If I were you I'd give Team Fortress 2 a try, especially with mods. Not even for the game itself, just to experiment with mods and settings such as "no viewmodels", "high fps configs", "fov / viewmodel fov settings" and such, so you might figure out what the root of your issue is. I wish you the best of luck figuring things out.

So you want to be a solo star, instead of a team player?
temperature shock is overkill on trash and negligible on big enemies. keeping enemies on fire so you can combo it into other heat weapons or to trigger a fire spread chain is almost always the better option. if you're running cryo you better kill the shit you freeze or double check none of your teammates are running fire or you're actively hindering your team.
Hot Bullets Minigun, Incendiary PGL and White Phosphorous Boomstick have all been in the game for as long as Cryo has existed and are all best in slot for their respective weapons. You should spend more time playing the game instead of arguing with strangers online.

Vampire fricking sucks and I'll never understand how it got memed as ever worth taking. 5 health is absolutely nothing in this game even on Haz 3 and below, melee is intentionally terrible and is a last ditch act of desperation most times, and if you're being a barbed drilltard Piper Perri'ing yourself by wading into a swarm of bugs you're never going to actually gain health - at best you won't die and be left with a sliver of a bar, all while being totally useless barely killing anything. Even if you're a god with impact axes hitting 3-4 bugs with each one, you'd still get 240ish health back per mission with it max, which isn't even enough to top you up twice. Meanwhile red sugar is everywhere and resupplies keep you topped up.
It's because of Iron Will. Red sugar and resupplies aren't always conveniently close to where you die, especially if you're not playing Scout. A single +5 is enough to keep you from falling a second time.
Complain about Iron Will all you wish from this, I'm simply explaining the reasoning.
NTA, there's no reason to complain about Iron Will anymore, it's a once per game now. If it gets changed again, they might as well delete it.
The only reason to take Vampire is with Iron Will.
But they're a great combo.

They have special mission types based on the biome, only one available per cycle
Currently the most complete one is the 'water' biome, which is more or less a giant water slide that plays like a tf2/cs surf map
Another one is a crystal themed map where the colors of the crystals are randomized and have different effects when they're shot, mined or stood on, such as explode, electrify, bounce the player, expand, ect.

hyperprop is too niche, requiring the co-operation of three different randoms. Specifically, that gunner take either autocannon or non-heat hurricane, while driller has to give up the status effects of cum cannon. It requires your driller to not be a shitter and immediately get downed.
Also, generally requires scout to take cryo nades, else the dreads will be half dead by the time they're actually frozen, given that team mates aren't just going to wait around for dreads to freeze.
It's far less complicated for engi to just take shart and overdrive boost when necessary.

Technically the only thing a PGL build needs is to hit 140 AoE damage which secures kills on Slashers and Mactera Spawn. Clean Sweep is optimal for this because you can run CACBA which gives the best ammo-to-kill radius-ratio. Incendiary's only advantage over regular PGL is the lack of falloff but if you're running a no-damage shitter magnet like RJ250 then not only are you waiting much longer for fire to kill bugs, you're also much more reliant on heat spreading to secure kills on Slashers. You're also dead weight vs Mactera.

This only applies to point extraction where spawns increase in density the longer the mission progresses. There's no punishment for "taking too long" in any other mission... unless you're using a shit tier no-damage weapon like RJ and you aren't killing any bugs.

in 6x2 and higher RJ250 is usable for quick missions like short mining or PE where going fast is more important than going hard. Its also usable if your team already brings extra firepower and your scout is already very busy.
in 8x2 or lx2 its not super rare to take it on refineries cause scout is going to be a busy boy, but id recommend this to a more skilled team. Amazing if you combine it with cryo for maximum tempsocking when bunkering
otherwise hyperprop is still very nice in modded difs, allows engi to dump ammo to quickly take care of stationaries or robots

Yeah, the zipline sucks, it's only truly useful on something like Point Extraction or Refinery, or if you have truly useless teammates that don't drill/platform to areas you need to go. Basically, no one will ever ask you for a zipline like they would a platform or a tunnel, so it's up to you to use your discretion.

Zipline lights are about as bright as a burnt out flare. I wish they were as bright as a Scout's flare (and frankly they fricking should be, given how near worthless zips are functionally) but you are playing with mods if that shit lights up more than a square meter for you.

The Zipline lamp lights up a hard 6m spherical area around it. When I say hard I mean there is no soft light past that point, at precisely 6m away from the zip everything is pitch black.
For comparison, a single thrown flare lights up roughly 15-20m around it with bright light and casts an additional 10-20m of soft light past that point where you can still see through some of the shadow, giving you roughly 25-40m of light.
You could carefully space out your zips and dump all 4 of them (5 if you're dumb and took ammo instead of range/degree) into an area and you'd still get less light in that area than you would from one single thrown flare.
You're playing with mods or your eyes don't work. Pick one.
You just lack the skills. I see a leg and know where the whole swarm is and then shoot it. You don't see the nostrils of the third grunt from the back and panic. I am a bug hunter. You are bug food. We are not the same.

obviously there's the coward's option of shielding someone for a revive. But you wanna know what's better than a revive? Your teammates not dying in the first place. Keep tabs on where the threats are and how close your team is to being overwhelmed, a well-timed shield will let the entire team blast their way through a tough spot instead of needing to reposition or scatter. but even then it's still worth knowing how to judge swarm size vs your team's swarm clear and repositioning if forced to
as far as ziplines go, think about the 4 classes in these contexts
scout: the best at moving through any space the team creates
driller: sculpts the landscape by destroying it
engineer: sculpts the landscape by creating more
both driller and engineer can manipulate bug pathing too
gunner: improves an existing landscape by attaching a permanent fixture.
as gunner you're not expected to terraform the planet to your liking, you're looking for ways that you can improve things by making it easier to connect point A to point B in a majority of cases, but you can also mindfully place them to also provide a safety net for long falls. Also with angled zips you can use them to provide faster transit across otherwise flat ground.This is the kind of structural improvement that only really makes sense in areas that you're expecting to hang out in for longer than a single wave, so point extract and refinery are the best caves that can generate since the objective is a central location that every dwarf will spend a decent amount of time returning to

Engis are bigger nigs with their plats. Scouts get the most blame for not using their tools but engineers are the king shitters and drillers are a close second, I hardly ever run into competent engis or drillers who actually make everyone's job easier with well placed plats or drilled shortcuts. It takes all of 10-20 seconds to platform everything in your average cavern but you'd swear engiBlacks only get 3-4 of them max the way they hold onto that shit and never contribute at all, no stairs, no quick cushions underneath ledges, frickin nothing.
I do like that they let players jump right into the game but the fact basically everyone is a major shitter even on haz 4/5 regardless of rank shows that a forced tutorial is necessary to explain basic frickin courtesy to these c**ts. And the tutorial should mostly be forcing players to try and accomplish a task like mining a high up vein as scout or running to a far off drop pod as gunner or something else that's a major pain in the ass with no help and then after they inevitably fail add in shit like plats under minerals or a tunnel shortcut to the drop pod and show that using common sense and the mother fricking class tools you got makes everyone's life easier and make the round go by way faster.
The major difference between a greybeard and a cavenig is that the greybeard actually uses his tools more than once a mission and actively helps the team. I don't give a shit that Scout isn't lighting up the cave, I have my own flares and I'm not blind so I can actually see the shine minerals give off in the dark. Gunner can't contribute anything anyways so I don't give a frick what they're doing. But drillshitters and especially enginigs not doing their jobs actively makes the mission far harder than it has any right to be and shit players using those classes need to be called out far more often than a piss poorly played Scout is.
the thing is that the QoL of simply being able to see is so much greater than a couple platforms or drilled shortcuts. you can kinda mountain goat your way around most maps, so driller is more of an OSHA compliance worker who makes everything wheelchair accessible, whereas engi just makes scout's job easier. personally i find it more annoying when an engi doesn't build turrets during a mission that has lots of swarmer/jellyfish spawns

Engineer and driller are the workers. Gunner is a slow defensive class and scout is a fast offensive class. The gunner can stick around, while the scout goes exploring, but the scout can also come back and defend.
Obviously that's not how the game works exactly, but Engineer and driller are job roles. Gunner is clearly a defensive role and scout implies exploring, which makes them more offensive. Being lightweight and fast is important.

Did Overcharger on coilgun get buffed? I heard something about it, but I'm not sure. I want to maximalize the damage on it, so I can have easier time doing the necro-thermal explosion with larger targets like praets as grunt melt too quickly.
On other news, I think I started to git gud with Minigun. Sticky grenades prove to be more useful that I thought as I can quickly think out the swarm before engaging it without losing the visibility due to flames.

I see. Overcharger indeed takes too long to kick in properly, so for now I settled for controlled flow as charging is fast enough without perk for my needs.
Necrothermal is fine, but it doesn't work for my build (Thinned Drums Minigun with Hot Bullets) as normal bugs die too soon to fire and I generally get to use the explosion on Guards if I get lucky. If I were to make use of it, I would have to use Burning Hell or incendiary grenades, where the latter kind of makes the upgrade moot.
Currently I have a 22223 Coilgun with UMG as sort of multipurpose tool (wrecking conga lines, crowd control, spitter sniper, long-range plinker), but I started to notice the smae problem I had with fear mod on Autocannon - it spread the bugs around, making tracking them harder while as a gunner, I rely on bugs lining up nicely for me to shoot. It also doesn't really scare them well enough to secure the spot for revive/resupply. Thus, I'm wondering if I should pick the stun upgrade instead of fear, but the stats on it seem lame with no certainty and pretty short time considering the firerate and resistances on haz 5.
Also, is there any reason to pick larger trail size instead of electric trail?
Stickies are good for groups and spooking Praetorians, much less chance of FF and I get 6 of them.

wide trail is basically only for hellfire and/or escort missions

Necrothermal has a %30 damage boost vs burning targets so you'll have an easier time scoring lethal hits on burning enemies innately. Overcharger isn't really worth it for any build. The accumulated bonus damage is wasted if you have an Overclock which affects the direct damage of the Coilgun. It doesn't work with picks like Mole or Triple Tech Chambers where it would theoretically be a good pick.
There's really no reason to ever build the Coilgun for direct damage when Bulldog or Burt will always be better options for such a role. Even a build with CFM can still proc necrothermal without having to take direct damage mods.
Also use Leadbursters they're the best grenade in the game right now

Not sure if it's just my shit computer or connection but everytime this shit spawns it totally kills my frame rate for a solid 3-5 seconds and it's wound up killing me a lot when it happens mid swarm or when I'm close to a hazard and get frozen.
I still can't believe Rockpox was the best garbage they could come up with when there was so much more lore stuff already in the game they could've built off of, like Ebonite or Kursite mutations, or the Xynach's collecting a bunch of abandoned kit down in some weird pit and assembling some kind of weird half bio half machine mecha that shows up to frick shit up. Just anything really than these gay ass rockpox bugs and playing coom cleaner over and over and over.
anything that modifies terrain (bulk/opp/nem digging, meteors, and lost helmets) makes the game freeze and will drop frames. this has been nothing new, meteors just make it more obvious.

It's only a microstutter on mine so...
I first get the stutter, which immediately warns me something spawned, and thena second of normalcy, then the 3-5 freeze. It even happens when new players join midround...but never when resupplies or the drop pod or cleansing pod are called.
It'd be nice if they could fix this jank but instead we're getting a spin off game absolutely nobody asked for and which is a rogue-like at least 3 years past rogue-like's peak popularity which is explicitly a bunch of new stuff they could've added to the base game in season 5 including long awaited new perks, guns, oc, etc but they decided they had done too much work just to drop a phenomenal season 5 and be happy with that and instead took the best stuff they had and are now going to make it Rogue Core exclusive while shitting out a handful of content for season 5 that's still months away (and will probably be much longer because GSG has shown they've gotten lazy and complacent).
Don't forget to vote DRG for labor of love! And don't forget to pre-order Rogue Core, the exciting new DRG spin off with little of what made the main game popular in the first place!
I get a 2-3 second long freeze whenever someone joins, but only for the first join when I host. Anything past that doesn't freeze, but if the first join leaves (causing Bosco to return) and another player tries to join my lobby, the freeze happens again.
I have no idea why this happens but it's been an issue since Season 2 when they changed what version of UE4 the game runs on. You can trace back a lot of bugs in the game to that point, and the game in general has only become buggier since that patch.

This is the type of shit I'm seeing about Rogue Core that really concerns me. The character development seems atrocious. It's bad enough it's a roguelite so everything you find and collect is gonna be worthless for future missions (which goes directly against the main reason to do missions in DRG) but all the upgrades are meaningless dogshit like "+%12 crit chance" or "health regen below X threshold" and it's all completely meaningless
Weapon building in DRG is simple and fun, and if you die it's probably because your build in bad. In this game, you're going to die if you don't get the lucky +%500000 damage bonus upgrade within the first 2 minutes, like every roguelite ever. Choosing to make a full roguelite game feels like it's pandering to the "all builds are viable" hazlet shitters who throw a tantrum if you ever try to just discuss weapon or overclock balance.
From what I can tell there's going to be no classes either, which makes me believe there will be little verticality in the game and terrain destruction will be extremely limited and gimmicky and like most FPS roguelikes this will be a hallway shooter. It's like the devs are intentional trying to make it shit by taking away everything people actually like about DRG. Bullet sponge enemies+Gunner tier movement through levels+luck based weapon effectiveness+long drawn out rounds. Fricking imbeciles lmao
The only good thing I can see is that we won't have to suffer through this dogshit in the core game itself (though I easily see them forcing it in as a new mission type as part of season 5 which would be fricking hilarious) and that MAYBE we might finally get some new weapons and OC ported over from RC itself... though given how awful these devs have gotten since the whole battlepass garbage started I doubt any of it will be any good. At this point I wish they'd stop adding anything to the game and just fix all the stuff that's still broken/unfun and leave it the frick alone because everything they add is becoming increasingly worse and worse.
I wouldn't look at the RC promo material too harshly, it seems like they released it only to make people shut up about season 5. I doubt they had anything more than some design documents and prototypes done at that point. It's just smoke and mirrors. Besides, I think they would rather underpromise and overdeliver than have it the other way around.
That being said, I have absolutely zero interest in rogue anything, I've tried the genre couple of times and Hades was the only game that I didn't immediately dislike (probably because it was specifically pandering to roguehaters like me with its strong story). I imagine there's a lot of DRG players that will just ignore Rogue Core and I have no idea what sort of carrot they need to wave around to make coop players try it because griping narrative won't be one for sure.
Honestly, the big problem is that they're going for such an oversaturated subgenre (action roguelikes) that has a huge amount of extremely strong competition. And from how they described their plans (runs lasting up to 25m, with each stage being 5m), it sounds like they're going to remove/highly disincentivize the one thing that could distinguish them from other games: digging and terrain destruction.
Until any kind of gameplay previews become available (which I doubt will happen until after closed alpha), the only thing it has going for it is that its Deep Rock Galactic-themed, just like their shitty Vampire Survivors clone.

Overcharger doesn't seem to be buffed and I like the faster charge more. Pulling out the coilgun to nail that acid spitter is nice.
The extra damage you get every 0.25 of overcharging was increased from 8 to 12.5, and heat mechanics changed so that every single build can get that max bonus.
But yes, I agree- taking 2.83 seconds to fire a shot just doesn't feel worth it, compared to just blasting out one that's only 60% weaker in 0.33 instead.

I finished all the skin unlocks on the Season Terminal, for the Scout. Finished all the Seasonal Missions. Didn't start the Scout Promotion missions yet.
Feels good to be able to play another class finally. My final seasonal unlock(snowglobe helmet missions) was a Liquid Morikite. Felt so good to be bridge building with the Engineer, instead of wall chipping my pipes upwards with the Scout.

I'm getting about 95% of the slow moving through the ring, about 85% of the medium moving through the ring, and I mostly just skip taking the kick on the fast moving.
I've watched the video guides, show when to take the kick, on the fast moving times, but it's such a small window, that I fail way too often on them.

No. Go to karl.gg and look for yourself. Carve Diameter is it's own stat and is 6.2 by default. Rock mover adds 9.0 for a total of 15.2 and is the only mod that does so. That mod is strictly damage radius.

Situational awareness, understanding how bug pathing works, being able to aim, being able to prioritize threats at a glance, fundamentally understanding the game isn't about killing bugs but completing objectives efficiently, knowing what your class is supposed to be doing and do it, understand spacing and not hop on other people's dicks crowding them and wasting time doing the same thing they are, etc.
You either get it or you don't. No amount of time playing can install the basic skills if you don't already possess them.

These are the normal PvE stuff that's useful for all games of this type.

These are the specific things you need to learn, to be a good team player.
Note: Knowing how to properly use your class tool, usually means being somewhat familiar with all 4 classes.
You won't know how to properly use of the Engineer's platform gun, if you don't know the limits of the Scout's grappling hook or the Gunner's Zip-line.
You won't know where, when, or who you use the Gunner's shield on, if you don't understand roughly what each of the different classes are expected to be doing during combat, and how they approach the fight. There's little reason to waste a shield, covering a Scout, because they're going to zip away, in 3 seconds, but there's a lot of good reason to help the Engineer, because his turrets keep him in a general area.
You should want to promote each class at least once, to be able to access all the different game modes and upgrade slots. Don't get overwhelmed with how many missions there are to complete, as a new player, just choose the ones that make the most sense to unlock first, and slowly chip away at them all.
Beyond all that, you just need to learn the weapons. Don't try to spend all your resources, unlocking everything for one class, and don't spread your resources across all the classes. Be more logical about what you unlock. Don't start buying upgrades for your weapons, until you get a feel for them, because you might waste a lot of resources on upgrades that you never end up using.
Note: There's a bunch of overclocks that can drastically change how your weapons work, so you might dislike a weapon, and then all of a sudden, a new overclock makes it your new favorite.

2,2,2 flare gun (THIS IS YOUR PURPOSE. IF IT'S NOT AT LEAST 1/2 EMPTY AT THE RESUP, YOU'RE NOT USING ENOUGH FLARES)
I main Driller, finally about to hit level 25. No clue about all the secrets and sidemission stuff. Carry my friends for the most parts but we have fun. They won't risk higher than hazard 3 haha

>can ride the pipe right from the refinery itself directly into the drop pod
>me and two players ride it throwing up rock and stones the whole way
>smoothly deposited without having to press anything but E and V
>pod isn't taking off
>ctrl
>see the last stupid moron is still fricking around at the refinery dying
>constantly riding back to rez him
>pinging pipe
>typing in chat to just use the fricking pipe
>other dude even starts talking in voice saying use the goddamn pipe
>moron proceeds to try running across the map directly toward the drop pod which is also up on a cliff so he starts panic digging trying to get up into it
>dies about 10 or 11 times alone after the drop pod was called
>we all finally give up on him and leave
The dumbass literally could've just rode the pipe into the drop pod and ended the mission within 20 seconds, instead he spent 4 minutes running around dying. It doesn't matter how cool my squad is, there's always one unfun moron ruining the flow making the game 10x harder than it has any need to be.
if you just stayed in the pod when he died it would've taken off
