Yup, it's easily the best co-op action game ever made. Great atmosphere and attitude, fun and addicting gameplay. Don't know a single person who would've dropped DRG after giving it a shot.
One of my friends dropped it after playing a little with me and another.. He's a "pvp gay".
He was like, "wait so this is only pve? no pvp options? i dont like pve". Made me very sad.
>Don't know a single person who would've dropped DRG after giving it a shot.
well, i did.
played the tutorial and 1 mission and i uninstalled.
>tutorial is single player, it was ok i guess >lets try the game browser and lets play with actual people >9000 servers with 1 person in it >join random game >play for like 10 minutes, we both get killed >yeah im not getting into it at all >uninstall
dont yell at me, thats just my personal experience i had with it.
PS. i got like 2,000 hours in L4D2, so i like similar games, this one just isnt doing it for me
>fail once because of inexperience >quit
Doesn't really seem like you gave it a fair shake.
why would i host my own game?
i jumped straight into other peoples games right off the bat in L4D and i was fine and dandy. >>give up at the first failure
not because i failed.
because the game wasnt attractive enough for me.
the harder the game, the harder i try to finish it, so thats not the case here.
i might download it again since its on gamepass, but i doubt i will like it on the second try.

You failed, so you obviously didn't try hard enough. That's not to your credit despite that attempt at a spin it. Haz 5 would kick your ass, by the way.

>then what is it?
Depends on the game. If you play pac-man or tetris for 10 minutes you'll probably have a pretty good idea of whether you like the game or not because there's very little depth to it. Paradox and other strategy games are at the complete opposite side of the spectrum where they take a long time to learn and the more you learn the depth of mechanics, the more you enjoy the game. Most games including DRG fall somewhere in the middle where (barring any immediate distaste for the genre, such as not enjoying FPS games) you'll probably know whether or not you enjoy the game within a couple hours. The steam refund window is typically enough to know.
When I first played DRG I only gave it about 3-4 hours, played mostly one class and that was it for well over a year. Then I come back, the game is finished, there's new weapons, mechanics, biomes, mission types, etc and 791 hours later I'd say it's one of my favorite games of all time. I think I probably knew that by around the 10 hour mark, I played a ton of it with my brother over one winter.
I think you should focus more on playing and enjoying video games than making people mad, having a positive influence on the world is usually more rewarding than the easy route of pissing people off.

i had the same experience.
The game only clicked after i promoted a character once and started playing haz5.
The tutorial 10-part assignment is shit and wiener and ball torture.
The level-gated upgrades are dogshit and the guns feel like absolute horrendous trash to play before you unlock all upgrades.
Can't blame you for uninstalling.
>Just get through a 10 part tutorial and grind for several hours until you unlock the good stuff and that's when the game becomes fun bro
DRGgays are fricking mindbroken
Same happened to me. I was unimpressed and realised if this is all I'm doing it's not for me and uninstalled. Maybe you need to have friends to actually enjoy you
same but for me it was a hard mission with 3 other guys and we won but the game just is far too corny to be enjoyed.
Try GTFO since that was more for me but that piece of trash is 40€ so it's not worth it either and it's never on sale so i won't be getting it anytime soon
it's on sale fairly often, but doesn't go low enough to justify a purchase for me
is this playable as a solo?
always heard good shit about it.
what's the progression like? is it meaningful and fun to work towards, or mainly sidegrades?
solo isn't as fun, but it's very efficient. progression takes time but has evenly spread out rewards to still feel meaningful. see
1/2 hour per mission and maybe 3 missions per 2 levels puts you at everything unlocked for one class (CL20) in 15h. While steep, you get incremental boosts, weapons, skills, and microchoices on the way that spice it up.
>Don't know a single person who would've dropped DRG after giving it a shot.
Only person I know who did this was the ADHD teenage cousin of one of my regular gaming buds. He played the tutorial mission and then an egg hunt on haz 2 and decided it was shit after getting downed a few times because he had 0 situational awareness. Dude just has abysmal taste in general though, he also prefers B4B to L4D2 because "well it doesn't have a progression system so there's no reason to play it" and is a League addict.
I tried to get my brother into DRG since he used to be really into Payday 2, but he never got into it. I remember first he complained that bugs spawned from everywhere so he couldn't just sit with his back to a wall and shoot and he also complained the game was too easy while only playing haz 3. I took him into some haz 4 dives and after dying a whole bunch he complained that it was the game's fault for not making it clear where where he was being attacked from despite nobody else having problems. He also complained the game was boring while refusing to even try out any class other than gunner.
>I remember first he complained that bugs spawned from everywhere so he couldn't just sit with his back to a wall and shoot
When I first started and was playing solo to learn the ropes as soon as they warned about an incomming swarm I'd dig a tunnel off the cave and then just wait for them to funnel in before pouring fire on them.
I'm sorry your brother is moronic. Sounds like what he actually wants is a wave defense game like Sanctum 2, but I'm sure he'd complain that the enemies only ever come from one spot so it's too predictable.
Say what you want, On-site Refining never gets old.
In general missions might be too formulaic though. They should at least mix up the Drilldozer boss phases. Or have a couple different potential repair tasks you need to complete for Salvage Mission.
Seeing what heinous shit randos get up to is part of the fun.
Though I've actually only had one mission where somebody built a truly stupid pipe. I did a liquid morkite mission last night that was almost entirely vertical and it took so long to get all of the pumpjacks hooked up, but it was very satisfying when we did.
>The game is fun at first but gets boring really fast
No, it doesn't.
t. been playing for 3 years now, and still play it almost daily.
>doesn't have a lot of content
it has MORE content and MORE replay value than any other even remotely similar game.
The gameplay and attitude alone are top notch.
It's one of a kind, so waiting for more content is a huge pain. Why can't more games do terrain damage? We've had the tech since like fricking Red Faction.
Frick dotty, I make sure to dig a hole, put her head in there, and seal it off with a plascrete platform. After the job is done she’s just scrap metal.
Ganker loves this game. Just because moronic members shout everything with charm or friendly features is a "reddit game" doesn't mean nobody likes it here.
If reddit game means has an active and nontoxic community then no wonder so many purists hate video games.
Scout's only weakness is their inability to efficiently clear hordes which really doesn't matter since you can just kite them all day. They also lack a means to ease team travel but flares are arguably the most important exploration kit anyways.
Drillers can pretty much do whatever they want and can be built to handle anything. Their biggest weakness is that most players don't know how to play the game so you're unlikely to see exception examples of Driller play outside of extremely high ranked players.
Engineers are basically the same as Drillers.
The Gunner IMO is the "weakest" class. That's not to say they're a weak class, but ziplines are too few and limited in application to really help out so in a lot of maps you're absolutely fricked while the driller and engineer are making stair cases and the Scout is already gone. The shield is extremely powerful but like the ziplines it feels like you just don't have enough use or time with it for it to really make a huge difference which has lead to the RPG Item problem where a lot of cautious players and greenbeards hoard their shields and only use them for revives because they're afraid of running out - which is a valid fear.
All in all though every class is powerful in it's own right. It's moot to argue which is best because the general lack of skill among most players means you'll rarely see a class being used to its full potential (or even properly) anyways so it's a pointless argument.
Quality post, here. I couldn't agree more, especially about the gunner. It's difficult to find places to drop zips that can significantly help the team.
Gunner’s main strength is versatility.
Outside of meme builds, he can handle absolutely anything the game throws at you at any range.
The cross zip formation is also so broken that I’ve stopped using it
If only zipline uphill speed was higher it would be usable for traversal, now a fricking engie can bing bing wahoo the entire team in less time than it takes for you to go halfway that distance. And for a tiny fracrion of his total ammo pool.
>Do an assignment. >Every mission has the Rival Presence modifier.
Man I don't hate the robots as much as the rest of the playerbase does but frick off holy shit.
We need at least 3 new mission types (that aren't shit) and a major overhaul of the weapons/mods/Overclock system. And that's just the minimum. New biome specific bug variants are desperately needed as well, along with cosmetics that don't look like shit or are trying to appeal to the tacticool crowd with their drab shitty colours. Dark Future and Neon are still the best armor/weapon skins by a long shot. I want to look like a neon demon down in the caves. Everyone just uses Black Crag anyways we don't need more dull colours LET ME SHINE GSG YOU FRICKING FRICKS.
>Join an open mission from the terminal after getting the game >Exploring and going deeper looking for things to mine >Get booted after picking up the cave flowers
is this game like L4D2 versus where taking a suboptimal step gets you removed
Getting kicked is rare, it's only happened a handful of times to me in like 700 hours of play.
Virtually nobody will micromanage your loadout or kick you for your way of playing. But probably not best to run off solo, and try to pay attention to chat or people will get mad.
Alternatively, host your own games, and no one can ever kick you.
It's nothing at all like L4D2. Getting kicked is very rare outside of the occasional sperg host. If you're new and unpromoted you might get kicked from haz 4 games, but even that's not a guarantee.
Most people are very chill and usually almost no one is an "omg you picked this weapon instead of that one? You are getting kicked" moron. Of course sometimes you will find some extreme tryhards who are like that, probably because they are just bad and get frustrated at the game. The game is not hard enough to require you to use extremely specific loadouts even in the highest defficulty tiers.
I had it happen two times now that the one who opened the lobby raged that we did the rival machine event of this season and aborted the entire mission.
Don't know if it was the same moron because it happened weeks apart.
I got kicked playing scout like this once. Except I was with the other dorfs so the only one I was obnoxiously far from was the engie pissing around in rooms the rest of us moved on from.
Turned out he was the host.
I was even checking back with him until we were finally 3 rooms ahead.
I kick people for drilling the black box 20 feet down into the ground and I kick people who are rude little shits and do stuff like activate the tritilyte shard during a doretta mission as we're driving by after being explicity told via voice comms to not activate it.
You have to be a real tard to get kicked from DRG unless the host is just an absolute c**t
I only kick people with moonrunes in their names because chinese players are godawful. I even deal with unpromoted people joining my haz5 games. picrel is an average haz5 lobby for me these days
Mission types, enemy and biom variety need a major update. They should stop adding more weapons and skins and work on things that are in dire need of improvement.
Reddit game, enjoy your troony discord profiles injected directly into your game and standing around screaming “we’re reddit!” at a rock for 5 minutes. How anybody can co-op with the absolutely insufferable community in this game is beyond my comprehension.
I play games to play games, not stand around yelling at a rock. All of the “community-enforced” dogshit (for lack of a better term) is fricking moronic and a waste of time. Multiple people have gotten angry at me for not slapping the dice for example, it’s beyond cringey and moronic.
If you entered an elden ring thread and said you quit after 10 minutes and acted like you made an educated decision to quit, they'd be right to treat you like shit too.
>be drilling a short cut >turn around and see bunch of exploders running toward me >figure I'll just run through them instead of wasting the ammo >hurl myself into the middle of the pack >come face to face with Molly as hissing fills the speakers
She's a stupid b***h that I'd kick to death if I could but I can't help loving her.
its ok for temp shock spam but really you only need that amount of damage for dreads but end up sacrificing your flamer longevity for swarms and robots. with blistering necrosis being good now, i just use that for dreads and keep my general purpose flamer for other stuff. the only loadout swapping i need to do is between mega power supply and blistering necrosis.
I tried the Sticky OC last week and HOLY SHIT was it overrated af by Ganker and /coopg/? 21221 (Fuel Stream Diffuser is my OC of choice, saves a lot of ammo and nets you extra range) gives you well enough of sticky flames to clean out hordes and swarmers and doesn't cut your tank in half nor steals your ammo. I didn't get anything from Sticky OC that I didn't already have but I was suddenly out of ammo all the fricking time. I really don't get the hype?
You’re probably setting too many lines.
Two lines of fire will kill any grunt that walks through them and let you finish off a guard or slasher with a shot or quick stream easily. Praetorians are more tricky, but if you bait the breath attack you can keep them in the fire for longer without having to constantly subject them to a stream.
Macteras are the real bastard for it.
>I was out of ammo all the time
You're supposed to aim at the ground and to clean lines, I never run out of ammo with sticky fuel and can burn hordes of enemies while keeping myself as the top killer next to engie. Streams Diffuser doesn't do enough damage to kill the whole horde with one line that only costs you 10 fuel from your tank.
>You're supposed to aim at the ground and to clean lines
Thanks for the helpful tip, m8. 21221 already does that.
Sticky OC also cucks you against Macteras (which are pretty much your job to handle due to fire weakness) nor does it do shit against robots. Rather, the Sticky OC 7.5 oz can makes you unable to off patrol bots with Heat Radiance.
Sticky is not necessarily a bad OC but this "SAVES FLAMMENWERFER EHRMEGERD!!!" meme needs to fricking die.
Sticky flames + temp shock cooker is the single most ammo efficient way to kill bugs in the game. Not that other builds are shit or anything but sticky absolutely has purpose.

The explosion mod on crspr overwrites any natural death animation. It has been this way the entirety of season 2 (and probably has always been this way)
Anonymous
Bulk has a special 2 phase death though. First it "dies" and then 2 seconds later it explodes. In all my days of running "Targets Explode" I've never seen one just poof instead of the elaborate death animation.
Anonymous
Phase 2 explosions requires the script to have run for Phase 1. Exploding targets skips all natural death animations. You probably don't see it because the natural tendency is to run away from a det near death and not stay flaming it so its already infrequent. And then most people should know not to run that mod/not to proc that mod on useful things.

I guess I do tend to let afterburn finish it off because it's a damn waste to just dump a tank of fuel on something with a healthbar like a bulk. I need to look into this more.

I don't know why you'd take the CRSPR to the Magma Core, anyway. But that's good to know about the maggots.
I don't like sticky flames anymore either. I have 2 direct damage builds I like quite a bit. One is Fuel Stream Diffuser like yours for range, and the other on "Compact feed valves" aka bigger tank and ammo pool.
sticky is for temp shocking with wave cooker since the flames reproc so fast on a single surface application. i dont like sticky too muxh cause it does poorly vs nemesis.
>but I was suddenly out of ammo all the fricking time
Literally how? It's one of if not the most ammo-efficient weapons in the game, that's like half of the appeal, the other half being infinite temp shocks with wave cooker.
Iron will and field medic have salvaged more missions than I'd care to admit.
Born ready is really nice too, providing you're using weapons with magazines. I almost always run Thorns, too, as it takes care of swarmers and naedocytes.
I ran thorns the entire early/mid game. Fantastic perk, but once I got a lot of other great ones competing for the slot it got booted. It did help that the Guns were getting pretty damn good at that point too with OCs.
Do you really find unstoppable getting that much use? It always seemed rather situational to me.
I used to use resupplier, don't remember why I stopped. I haven't really fooled around with my perk loadouts in ages.

Going slow kills in Haz4/5, the extra speed from unstoppable helps imo. Resupplier gives extra health and an instant reload, which is sweet since I always run bigger health on armor to get a bigger safety net.
i use friendly instead of deep pockets on driller. im too self conscious about friendly fire when im painting everything with fire and microwaves. this unfortunately means i cant c4 sc**ts

I usually drill through walls to get to ore or blow up ore veins with C4 so I'm pretty far away from the team and deep pockets helps with that playstyle so that you only need one trip.
Regarding friendly, it's just a matter of practice imo. I haven't downed an ally since I was a greenbeard.

its not a matter of downing allies, its a matter of chipping them too much for later. even a single chip is bad cause it affects their shield regen timer

Making 50 damage into 25 damage isn't that big of a deal imo, especially since there's already an innate FF reduction based on hazard level.

fricking greenies, shit was pretty funny though and things were safe enough that it wasnt an issue
For me it's Field Medic and Dash. I run Dash on everything but scout, being able to launch yourself and relocate in a blink can save you multiple times per run.
I don't see it mentioned much but I'm a big fan of See You in Hell. I also use Vampire and Thorns so the pickaxe becomes pretty reliable in short bursts for damage and healing.
Of the ones I regularly use
Active: dash, field medic, iron will.
If you can’t play with sound or youre just starting out heightened senses can be ok but I wouldn’t rely on it too much since there’s better options. In the lower haz beast master can be fun, but I find that it dies too quickly where I play so I tend to not use it(not to mention people wasting ammo on it because they can’t tell it’s friendly)
Passive: born ready, resupplier, friendly, deep pockets, thorns
In particular the first two are on nearly every set.
I really don't understand the appeal of this game. I want to though. Everyone and their grandma praises this game but all the classes are boring and everything is so slow. Doesn't help that I don't have anyone that want's to dedicate any time to this game to see when it "gets good". Is there anything different past the first assignments or is that pretty much it?
The classes get a lot more impactful and fun once you start upgrading weapons and getting new ones that may jive with you better. That said the game is pretty repetitive and the missions themselves don’t offer too much of a different experience once you’ve experienced them. How much did you play? Did you at least experience most the mission types?
Some of the tightest teamplay imaginable for a coop game occurs once the game gets difficult, and classes have awful loadouts at the start with the unlockable boosts adding a lot to the experience.
If it goes too slow then play Scout, it can get a semipermanent speedboost and grappleswing through caves at breakneck speeds.
understood. Probably not for me then.I'm probably just impatient. Thank you

What this guy said, the game really opens up and becomes more enjoyable once you have all the weapons, mods, and overclocks. Unfortunately it does take a little while to get to that point.
1/2 hour per mission and maybe 3 missions per 2 levels puts you at everything unlocked for one class (CL20) in 15h. While steep, you get incremental boosts, weapons, skills, and microchoices on the way that spice it up.

Maybe it's not your kind of game, or maybe you're just playing on the easy difficulties. I've got hundreds of hours in it and the most fun I've had is finishing a mission by the skin of my teeth playing with complete fricking strangers
i play driller and sc**t. i enjoy freedom of movement and these guys give two different flavors of it. the crossbow is great as a toolbox of a bunch of effects.
Once you get good at it, you can craft kaizo mario paths on the go as engineer and freerun through the caves, pretty gun stuff.

Yeah, it's really not so bad, especially if you enjoy the core gameplay. Can take awhile to get all the OCs, though, took me a couple months of weekly play.
OC roulette is a nice endgame, with small spikes of fresh content in Machine Events. A bit annoying that you can't work toward a particular OC, but just getting new ones and switching up loadouts was a fun ride.
How is matchmaking with randoms? Bought DRG during the summer sale to play with friends and they like it, but they're c**ts about scheduling and I'd like to play the game more than a couple hours a month.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't matchmaking refer specifically to automated systems that connect players? If so, well, DRG doesn't have that. It's usually pretty easy to get a full team if you're patient, though. When I host, I rarely finish a mission without a full complement joining by the end.
You can wait in the space rig with a mission selected to try and get a team to join, but players seem to prefer joining missions in progress.
>Doesn't matchmaking refer specifically to automated systems that connect players? If so, well, DRG doesn't have that
Yeah you're right, I haven't played around much with the game and assumed it had matchmaking like every other game. I'll try hosting a few games and see what kind of people join.
GSG needs to wake the frick up and fix the fundamental issues with this game. The game is a mess of piss poor design decisions and wasted opportunities. It would be at 50k players and not 8k if they just took their heads out of their ass.
>fundamental issues
There are a couple big annoyances. Dropping from a match usually does not offer the "reconnect" option like you'd expect (but for some reason a closed lobby does?) Get the frick on that GSG.
Let's summarize what's fricked with the game >game still has bugs that frick you over, inputs dropping and ping issues launching you across caves >devs balance the game around haz3, which no one cares about >a lot of upgrades and OCs could be better, devs are scared of making things fun >bugs can still hit you through solid covers, as long as you stand next to it >going too casual with the annoying pings instead of making them functional >no good tutorial, you only get to play as gunner and new players will sucks massive dick at anything else, it takes a lot of time to learn the game
>devs balance the game around haz3, which no one cares about
This one will always be baffling. Even if the vast majority played it, who gives a shit if something is OP in a difficulty with two tiers to move up from?
If you’re playing Haz 3, you’re not going to be too worried about being carried since you’re either new or a legitimate casual

I always see this one bandied about, what's the source? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just curious if you know specifically where it was said.
Devs streams on twitch. Also, when they sometimes play on haz4 , they are barely keeping up and suck massive dick. They are pretty bad at their own game.
I watch the dev streams all the time. They're not that bad. Anyway, I was hoping for a more specific answer.

Maybe I hallucinated it but I remember someone posting in a previous thread a direct statement from the devs that they balance around haz 4. I'll try and find it.
tbh if I was working on a game every day I probably wouldn't wanna spend my free time after work constantly playing said game, and working on a game doesn't automatically translate to skilled play
I’m pretty sure I recall them stating they primarily balance around haz 4, but they do seem to take haz 5 into consideration for certain weapons that rely on break points like the m1000 and crossbow
Some of those are valid, but the biggest gripe I have is the nonexistent incentives for getting high ranks.
They tried to do this by tying one cosmetic to getting to rank 100, but then nothing after that and there's all these autists with rank 1000+. It's such an obvious addition too, tie some rare cosmetics behind dwarf ranks and you'll encourage more players to play consistently to level up and get those cosmetics for their e-peen.
Cargo crates are completely random.
If you have something that is solely attainable by putting an assload of hours in, it’s going to immediately put people off even if it’s cosmetic.
VT2 had this problem with the 100 mission hats
Honestly not much different from just being unavailable for most people, cargo crates are disgustingly diluted. >get an armor color in a lost pack and it applies for the entire class >get a pickaxe part and everyone gets it >get a weapon color and it applies to the entire class
Vs >emote for one dwarf >weapon skin for one weapon for one dwarf
I play this on the daily but I'm feeling pretty burned out. Games can't last forever but I do hope the next season isn't off by too long, and that it'll be better than the last.
eeeh "sometime in Q4" huh? I hope it's early Winter.
Take a well deserved break, next season will have a "surprise" and new grenades.
Yeah I should, I don't like playing the same game for months anyways but the game has become my comfort zone
MH is much more fun than this reddit trash. Play more coop games, moron.
I feel like MH would be my kinda game but I absolutely despise the way your character controls, the attack animations especially are so unbelievable slow and unresponsive.
As far as MonHun goes, Sword & Shield and Dual Swords were what got me into the rhythm, they are awkward compared to other CAGs but fast enough to still be bearable.
>try to get it >never get it >host 5 games in a row >didn't get it >what the frick >look up my chevos >got it months ago
sometimes my moronation astounds me
I wanna play it; however, the only "friends" that I have that play it smoke weed every day and are huge reddit memelords from highschool 10 years ago. So I'm on my own...
I did the latest Elite Deep Dive this weekend with the fricking Shield Disruption Escort as the Haz 5.5 mission, and we somehow survived, but holy frick the Scout would NOT put up lights, we pretty much did the entire heartstone fight with a dark ceiling covered in spitters.
Just hold down control ( laser pointer thingie ) and click on the scout after asking once.
Either he'll grow tired of you clicking on him or decide to quit the game never to be heard from again.
Either way, would not be the first time I solved problems by clicking on them till they either went away or got my approval, whichever happens is fine.
Nta, but in my experience people don't even notice when they get pinged unless everyone is standing on the drilldo waiting for bugs to spawn.
Shooting people once or twice, on the other hand, has worked quite well for me.
I really wish they didn’t put dumb shit into the voice lines for pings. I always notice if someone pings me and it says “hey (class I am playing)”, but if I hear “I like the way you groom your heckin wholesome cute beard” of course I ignore it. Inane bullshit that actual ruins contextual communication. Hiring women was a mistake

It feels like they missed the point of why the salutes got a reputation for making the game feel wholesome.
It wasn’t the voice lines (with one notable exception), it was because it encouraged people to encourage each other, and generated organically fun moments where people salute each other for the dumbest shit, or when people notice someone doing them a favour/going above and beyond their job.
Then being a short encouragement is why they worked so well at that
Then there was leave no dwarf behind, which cemented the idea that the final stretch isn’t just a run to the drop pod, and leads to players taking risks they’d never do in vermintide or l4d to grab someone who’s downed. The paltry reward for getting a whole team away could never encourage that attitude.

I always go back for my fellow dorfs unless they're on the other side of the map and I'm the only guy who made it to the can. It's just fun, and like you said, the penalty is insignificant so if I die, too, it's no big deal as long as the mission isn't in jeopardy.

what's the math? I always thought it quartered the rewards per downed dwarf

It quarters the survival bonus. The survival bonus is like 1k exp per dwarf. Absolutely insignificant when you just got 20, 30, 40k exp.

man some of the math in this game is pretty stupid. Once I realized how little mining gold actually makes I stopped doing it.
Also is it just me or has the spawn rate of crassus detonators skyrocketed this season?
I remember seeing my first detonator after 80 hours of play, and yet lately I've been finding these every 7 or so hours of playtime. They're almost kinda annoying now.

Such an American solution.
I prefer to throw a satchel charge at their feet and ping them again, they'll learn.
That or Hoxxes IV gets a new crater.
That's fine man, solo is cool and randoms are 99% totally fine unless you're on Haz 5 and you'll either get a crack military squad who will carry your sorry ass and make you feel emasculated or literal short-bus surfers who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo nevermind shoot in an FPS. But everything else is fine
I don't have any friends either and I just play with randoms and I've had a lot of fun outside of one or two greenbeard nightmares.
I played maybe a half dozen missions solo just so I could figure out what I was doing without worrying about letting down the team.
This is the second DRG thread I see that implies Ganker is somehow against it. Did the redditposters kick into overdrive and trick morons into thinking Ganker hates it like they did with Hollow Knight or what?
Every semi-popular game gets a dedicated schizo-autist on this board. You can't even mention the game Disco Elysium without him appearing like fricking Beetlejuice
I have about 250h. Bought the game a long time before season 1 came out. I only played a bit in season 1. I just found myself asking "why am I playing?" The game is fun but I just don't feel compelled to keep playing.
Also I find it crazy that there isn't a mission type where you just defend from a massive horde, something a-la starship troopers. If they added something like that I can see myself playing a lot more. Or if I had friends who liked playing...
>cull mission, ostensibly to help ease pressure on other miners by attracting and slaughtering glyphids >point extraction map based around wave defence >distinct from egg collection by mission control sending timed pulses rather than you triggering hordes personally
I’d play it, but it would need to have the mining sorted out. Unless it decided to go full shooter and cut it in favour of getting mineral bonuses for extra waves
It looks like its the same marketing group. Same stale memes and come backs and all.
Could be a new group using the same playbook.
"Image counter?"
Shill was getting really mad at anons calling out his shilling so he started pointing out the IP counter as a cope, but he was talking about the image counter not the IP counter.
He abandoned the thread for a few hours hoping it would blow over.
"Stale memes" is hardly an indicator of marketers. You think Ganker creates OC anymore? It seems like fricking Christmas when someone draws something not in the draw thread these days.
It's pretty normal for newbies to mix up the image, IP and Page counter too.
Its probably more to do with the "marketers" always bending over backwards to defend the game or the dev's honor.
Its Ganker bruv doing that so hard will get you labeled a shill no matter what.
Its weird when a blanket insult like "its a reddit game" has a few anons up in a shoot over it. It really makes it look like there's a reason they are so perturbed by the comment.
tl;dr - they can't handle the bants like most marketers sent to do a job.

it's really fun but after getting every oc and trying a lot of builds there's not much to do, i'm not playing 500h more to unlock the remaining cargo crate items
too many tiny variations on moustaches and beards which aren't compatible with most cool looking helmets and hats

Frick chinks.
goo bomber special is fun too
definitely go for the cheaper charge shots so you can spam that shit
as for the goo shotty the direct damage is just absurd, probably driller's best option for dreads especially paired with the cwc
High damage builds are just way more fun in general. "Minishells" for warthog is fricking miserable, for example. Doesn't even matter that it gives you a billion shells, it just doesn't' feel good.
i like the minishells, i run it with as big a mag as possible and full auto and just spray
i can understand not digging it though

Ish. Breakpoint builds is where it's at, which sucks because the devs obfuscate the data or don't show enough info on the weapons screen. Did you know explosives only deal max damage in a 2m radius? I fricking didn't, because it isn't stated anywhere in game.
Some youtubers at first but I can check the wiki for source, personal testning has yielded the same results, but all AoE weapons (minor exceptions) do 1/2 damage at max radius and max damage at 0-2m radius with a linear dropoff based on the max radius. Fire damage for some reason deals max damage throughout, making the PGL better for swarms but worse for dreads with it included.
Extra small tips I've also picked up: >armor break is bugged and won't work for AoE >gunner ziplines are bugged and give fall dmg reduct until you due, then it can be reapplied >all buff beer applies twice, scout can reach 100% fall damage reduction with tunnel rat plus above zipline and armor boost >reload cancelling saves a massive amount of time >firerate is moronic and will unintentionally increase reload speed, doublebarrel shotgun and scout flares have equal reload times (but vastly increased dps) if you pick FR over RS. Same thing with other similar guns. >sludge cannon goo can be lit on fire >ground fire can be combined with direct stream fire to completely frick robots (even nemesis) in the ass
Will update if I remember any more

I bought this bait too for too long but it's not the full story. If you take both drill speed mods and drill for 4 knocks and then let go of the m1 for like a quarter second before spooling again, you get all the advantages of extra drill speed without wasting fuel.
I argued with some guy on reddit about it and then did the testing and he was 100% right.

You'll have to get used to over heat timings all over again because it builds it so oddly but yeah, listen for 4 rock breaks and then let off until you kiss the wall, then 4 more rock breaks.
>Did you know explosives only deal max damage in a 2m radius? I fricking didn't, because it isn't stated anywhere in game
its glossed over in the miners manual that explosive damage is bigger near the center of an aoe
its just not given a stat in the equipment screen probably because they want to discourage min-maxing autism
>picking level 1 drill speed mod 1 on driller gives you too much speed if you have mod 2, you can't walk that fast making it moot compared to damage or fuel
no
drill speed is absolutely strictly necessary if you are actually going to do your fricking job as a driller
this meme is probably the sole reason why so few drillers actually drill out terrain and create football fields for the rest of the team to bask in,
without it you are going to get stuck on the smallest pixels and your momentum will be set to 0.000001 which makes drilling stuff out a pain in the fricking ass and you are going to end up wasting your heckin precious reddit spreadsheet fuel drilling air anyway
drill speed directly correlates with how much shit you can open up before the next batch of enemies engage or the adhd spastics in your team loose patience and activate the objective
the fuel and damage increase is a pitiful fricking joke compared to the speed increase especially since, if you are extremely autistic, you can tap-drill to save fuel
a good driller that actually opens up terrain has 10000x more impact than any of the other team members PLEASE DRILL SHIT OUT ITS SO PAINFUL TO WATCH WHEN IM STUCK IN A DIFFERENT CLASS
>game is about shooting bugs with numbers to gain numbers of gold and minerals, but hides explosive numbers
at least give us the option to show hidden stats or gain knowledge outside of the wiki, 1-tapping with PGL versus 2-tapping feels like shit when it can easily be avoided by knowing that the armor break doesn't add anything and fire always deals full damage
>driller isn't using C4 on enemies >there are gigantic stalactites that he could easily vaporise with it >and stalagmites he could clear away and make a clear firing zone >and tons of small shit he could clear instantly
>Have an absolutely excessive amount of the purple ingredient and a shortage of everything else. >Blackout stout is literally the only kind of beer I can regularly drink.
Post yfw you see a special mission just after you called the drop pod.
Post yfw you try desperately to complete it, only to die because there's too many bugs/you ran out of ammo.
>it's another jaded multi-promoted tryhard that refuses to mine gold or do second objectives because it's worthless to him
nice community indeed. full of drones just speedrunning the weekly assignments
fun game for about 1 month exactly then lost all interest.
Not enough content variation in terms of map generation, enemy design and game modes. If you keep playing beyond that I can only assume you're autistic and feel comfort in doing the same thing over and over.
>Play Scout >Someone pings a fossil or boolo >My brain immediately realizes its my job to get these because they're often in bullshit places >I look around and get the thing in seconds
>Anyone else plays Scout >No flares >Nothing is mined even with platforms >Refuses to get a fossil in the same room as him within eyesight that he knows nobody else can reach while he can in 1 second >Kick
>rando scout not using flares or getting fossils >rando engie not using turrets or platforms >rando driller making moronic paths and c4ing everyone
i don't know what's more annoying
>rando engie not using turrets or platforms
I'm a Silver Rank Engie and I just keep forgetting that my Sentries are a thing most of the time, except on Escort and Salvage. However I do try to make sure I have a platform under every wall mineral I see - the issue I end up having though is Scouts who seem averse to using their Grappling Hook. Even after pining them and the mineral multiple times.
>playing engie >scout misjudged his grapple because he couldn't be arsed to wait five seconds for platform during a wave and is stuck on a wall, turns around and spams X while looking at me >I slowly shake my head, scout nods frantically >eventually gives in to despair and jumps down, dying instantly from fall damage >walk over >GREAT JOB!
So I don't embarass myself when I misjudge a grappel.
I also haven't gotten the timing down for "fling yourself into a rockface + power attack" so I like having the insurance.

God I wish that were me. I run special powder cause I still frick it once in awhile but far more often than that I get slingshotted across the room because "lmao physics."
But yeah hover boots is shit for many many reasons.
i tried this for a long time and eventually i went back to flamer. i really wanted to like it, and i did but wave cooker synergy with fire won out in the end.
My wishlist for DRG >Give all the beers various buffs/debuffs and the effects last throughout the mission. >Spend minerals during missions to call in buffs/buildings/recon/etc so mining doesn't feel tedious. >Transform the space rig into a large hub world where you can hang out with other players in your region and add more minigames to play. >Scrap the whole time locked core system. Either let players pick the specific OC they want or from a selection of random OCs each time they deep dive. >Redesign all the perks. Make sprint a built in ability for all dwarves. >Redesign any bug that is just a slow moving bullet sponge. >Make dreads more interesting. Each perk should have something to do during a dread fight. >Add more randomized special events to every gamemode. Some good, some bad. >Fix drop pod spawns so they stop spawning in backwards at the top of a fricking cliff. >Redesign secondary objectives so they are more complex than 'grab X number of Y'. >Make a better tutorial and add voice commands. Maybe add a radial menu of some kind. More random banter during missions. >Tweak bug spawns and put swarmer nests close to minerals low to the ground so drillers have a reason to clear them >Up the difficulty across the board
Class balance is a tough one. Most OCs need a rework. How I THINK things should be >Scout specialized for ranged/burst damage >Driller specialized for crowd/elemental/melee damage >Engie specialized for mactera/robots/support (not too sure about this one) >Gunner jack of all trades. Maybe make him tankier?
Engie is busted. He does everything better than the other classes.
Driller is pigeonholed into using fire for robots and his secondaries aren't fun. Need more enemies weak to drills.
Scout is useless during swarms and focus was nerfed so bad that you are trolling if you use it and there needs to be more incentive for scouts to not hoard flares.
Gunner's utility is shit outside of shield revives and his gameplay is just kind of boring?
The only thing I’ll comment on is big tank bugs. They were designed with a specific purpose in mind, and they still fill that purpose. We just need more bugs designed to do other shit instead

the weakspot is small enough that you have to get really close to hit it with most weapons so I don't think it counts.
cryo is the only guaranteed elemental damage you're going to have and that's only because scouts other grenades suck. requiring classes to bring specific loadouts for general enemy spawns is annoying.

yes we are in agreement on that. I’m just saying they also do not take much resource or time to kill >I don’t think it counts
I can’t say this without sounding like a dick but I mean it as a genuine response. Skill issue. >guaranteed elemental
Talk to the Danes then because robots have enforced an elemental meta. Fire is nearly guaranteed in some form from at least 2 classes and you said it yourself scouts are nearly guaranteed packing pocket cryos to dump on a breeder

Incendiary grenades are not enough to instakill nemesis if you can even manage to land one on him and there are plenty of gunners who take cluster grenades over them instead. Driller has 3 great primaries so expecting them all to run the flamethrower is moronic.

bring fire to invasion missions just like you'll bring good crowd clear for defensive missions, they're clearly marked out. engie has hot crystal beam, gunner has firenades and hot bullets, driller has crisps, scout has diddly dick but can zoop away to hack the turret central

Fire bolts aren’t a heat source so the heat level decreases as the bot heats up. Which is why they can’t ignite shit larger than a grunt without another bug acting as a heat source. I’m fairly confident when I say it’s impossible to ignite a bot with heat bolts

Fire Bolts are only good if you use the pheremone bolt to group a bunch of grunts together and use the firebolts to set them on fire.

you have to deal with robots in all mission types not just rival presence. prospectors, data deposits, nemesis, etc. randomly getting screwed over because you brought cryo and a nemesis spawns is NOT FUN.
>gunner has firenades and hot bullets
neither are that good against nemesis. >engie has hot crystal beam
engie also has two other extremely strong secondary options he is much more likely to be running

>neither are that good against nemesis.
if your team brings heat too, then stacking heat helps overheating faster. going rambo then you'd better pack driller.
>you have to deal with robots in all mission types not just rival presence. prospectors, data deposits, nemesis, etc. randomly getting screwed over because you brought cryo and a nemesis spawns is NOT FUN.
random spawns do frick you, but picking off the odd nemesis with regular bullets or a prospector for the cübe isn't really a chore to do every now and again. Damage is damage, fire is just a quick delete. Cryocannon is complete arse, sadly, there I agree with you.
>engie also has two other extremely strong secondary options he is much more likely to be running
yes there is a tradeoff, as always, between stacking more heat or bringing laser cutter/pgl for overall hordeclear even if defractor can be modded to have both decent AoE capabilities AND heat without OCs.
scout has fire crossbow? Ive never had the chance to use it against bots so no clue if its actually a functional counter
fire bolts suck ass at applying fire, use ANY other overclock over it.

>if your team brings heat too
which is even less likely. you are fabricating an extremely unlikely scenario to defend this shitty mechanic. I am lucky to get a scout to use his flare gun more than once a mission much less coordinate all 3 of my random teammates to use heat on the off chance a nemesis spawns which I have no control over. if the heat build isn't significantly better than the alternatives then you cannot expect your teammates to be running it more often than not.
>but picking off the odd nemesis with regular bullets or a prospector for the cübe isn't really a chore to do every now and again
sure but it's not really adding anything either. everybody would be happier if they didn't spawn at all because there is no skill in defeating a nemesis it's just a dice roll if one spawns and if your driller happens to be using crispr. wasted opportunity just like so many other things in this game.

You’re actually talking to a different guy than who originally replied to you about it. I stand by my statement that robot heat enforced meta means you have near guaranteed multiple sources of heat on your team and with that a consistent way to instakill neme. Even if you only have crispr driller or hyper prop engie then neme is a non issue

why would I literally make the antithesis statement to my argument that I’ve been making from the get go?
To reply tho, it’s called an enforced meta for a reason. By definition it means that people are significantly more likely to be using certain gear. Which would mean as I’ve said several times, it’s “nearly”guaranteed. Nearly being the operative word, so I’m not disagreeing with you on the fact that it’s absolutely guaranteed, just that it’s extremely more common than you are implying

unless the breeder is on the other side of a fairly large cave and you’re using a low accuracy auto primary it shouldn’t be an issue. A breeder mouth is ~1/4 of its body length while extended >robots

Think about all the way you can inflict heat from every class. A gunner not bringing incendiaries doesnt barely matter after the changes. The only class that doesn’t have a significant, or rather good, way to inflict heat is scout

lmao. even if you did bring stubby you are engineer, you have access to arguably the two best pinpoint accurate secondary options for crit hits. Honorable mention to breach cutter for not giving a shit where you hit the enemy but that’s not the point >thunderhead
ok people actually do use this one but you already know what I’m gonna say about his secondary options. coil guns useless for this scenario but other than lead spray brt is accurate and bulldog is pinpoint >1 primary per class excluding driller >a majority of weapons
>praets
nah >neme, breeder
instakill options from multiple classes in the form of incendiary and cryo respectively, not to mention breeders have a 3x crit multiplier for their mussy
I should elaborate on the praetorian. Despite only having a little less health than an oppressor, praetorians have an accessible weak point from every angle of the bug and passive armor break from many weapons fully exposes the torso. Unlike oppressors they have no immunities and can be stunned on command. They aren’t nearly as tedious an enemy when you can straight brute force them and bypass the butt chasing merry go round that oppressors present

Praets are fine health wise but they should be more threatening.
The gunner should be the absolute last dwarf to go down and should be popping off shields aggressively to let the rest of the team keep the pressure up.
thats pretty situational, you dont need a dwarf to fully covered by the shield anyway to revive them and the longer shield gives you enough time to just kill whatever's on them if theyre totally out of range
honestly its just a preference thing, i just said its better to get the (you)
and I will always appreciate other Gunners in a mission no matter the build.
If anybody in here hasn't tried 4 gunners or 4 morbidly obsese boys with turret whip you don't know what you're missing.

shame about that friendly fire on turret whip blasts.
If you're only using shields for revives, you're doing it wrong. It's an understandable reservation, but it ultimately wastes the potential of the shield, and unless someone else is on the ball will possibly lead to a down spiral since the bugs that downed the dwarf will still be around.
Ideally you use the shield to completely maximise firepower and blunt the swarm's edge, so even if a dwarf proceeds to go down, you've already fricked up the swarm enough that you can either comfortably revive him, or kill the swarm quickly. Alternately it can be used in a small tunnel to completely block off a swarm if you're in a bad spot and need to reposition. it's especially useful if you've been cornered by a dreadnouht or detonator.
That said, one shield in reserve for a panic resupply is essential. It's saved my ass so many times when shit royally hit the fan.
In terms of firepower, I love gunner because unless you're running a really dumb build, he always has an answer to anything the game throws at him, and can likely use it at any range. He's an ideal cover for any weaknesses the group has
Yeah you should always make sure you're down to 2 bubbles before a resupply. If you're playing too passive and find that you're wasting bubbles you need to start throwing them out in firefights more.
>its not
the equipment screen says the duration increases is only +1.5s but they are actually each +3s
if it wasnt broken like this you would have a point
I get that but it doesn't make for very exciting gameplay. He doesn't contribute directly to the mission like plats/flares/drills do and the game isn't difficult enough for a dedicated medic role anyway. My boy gunner needs some love.

I agree using them proactively is definitely a good idea but like scouts and flares there's not enough incentive for gunners to do this especially with how easy the game is.
Of these, the only ones I really agree with are "dreads should be more interesting" but I think the real way to do that is just introduce a few more. And if they wanted to make more creative secondary missions than "collect X number of Y", well i wouldn't complain.
Another suggestion I have is there should be a "READY?/READY!" voice button. Typing "r" in chat is dumb and shouldn't be such a necessary thing.
Hive guard is so fricking shit. Twins and regular dread are alright(although the later is rather basic) but I can’t stand hive guard. >hope it doesn’t glitch out and actually calls the minions >shoot minions >shoot weak points >shoot butt weakpoint >repeat
It ends up just being a slower dread with more steps that shits out bombs when exposed. They should lean more into the minions to make it more interesting, make the hiveguard itself a nonfactor if need be
Yeah Hiveguard is kind of a bummer to fight. The minions is a nice touch but I agree, it's such a minor short-lived phase. Maybe make a new dread that is COMPLETELY focused on minions instead of HG's half-measure. Like tie a bunch of minor bugs into a Dread's actual healthbar or something.

Make them share player awareness, maybe work together with specialized bugs. Like shield ones up front, and ranged who hide behind, just give them better coordination than existing bug types.

Some bugs wander and don't act until they themselves spot or get shot at by the player. At least, bugs who spawn before a mission start tend to act like this. The effect of "psychic bugs" is probably lost when most home in on your location though, I suppose.

Most of my friends are morons and mostly play asshomosexuals and the only one friend that liked the game is a sociopath spastic kid that treats DRG as a first class competitive game and gets angry over the smallest thing that can go wrong in a mission. I hate the fact that randoms get dumber day by day and I can't keep playing...
Idea for a C4 overclock: >Demolitionist's kit: >Place up to 4 charges at once (detonation activates all of them) >Max ammo greatly increased >Significant reduction in blast damage and radius
it’s not bad it’s just not very useful. It’s exceedingly good at setting robots on fire, but he just has such strong crowd clear options for bugs. Special mention to pancake stack mole memes but he has good single target options that don’t require any extra hassle as well so it just feels meh

>Clearly you only play to hit skill ceilings and push your limits
There is a difference between being an autistic speedrunner and just being good at the game. DRG is not fun to play singleplayer and was not designed for singleplayer. Playing with teammates is a core part of the experience.
is this playable as a solo?
always heard good shit about it.
what's the progression like? is it meaningful and fun to work towards, or mainly sidegrades?
Yes. It's pretty good solo. You have the option of a combat robot helper who will shoot and mine if you like; or you can play totally solo. So long as you can manage your own ammo you're fine.
Yes. But it isn't very fun solo. You get a flying robot to help you gather stuff but you'll always feel that "they really intended other people to be with you huh" notion eating at you the entire time. You feel like the utility in your weapons isn't being used well, because it's not without 3 other players working with you.
PUGs are fine up until high hazard levels. And by then you will probably have a couple of people from randos or people from Ganker who don't suck if you've played a bit online.
People who play with randoms in Hazard <3 maps are pretty chill.
It's playable, but just not the same. Some classes are harder solo that others (and by others I mean Scout since he has the least crowd control), and Bosco can trivialize Point extraction and Egg Hunt. No shame in playing with randos, that's what I've been doing from the start.
In theory you can play it solo, but you need to be the right kind of person to enjoy it. I think it's way too boring. Much of the fun is in the interactions between the players (combat loadouts, utility interactions, player interactions) so I think for the vast majority it's multiplayer only, really
>is this playable as a solo?
do you mean playing by yourself or with random teammates? you can play the game without any teammates but it's not that fun. >what's the progression like?
grind for the sake of grind. just use a save editor and save yourself some time.
A lot of people find the game too overwhelming solo. If you know what you're doing and don't want to rely on morons, it's good. There are plenty of people that play on Haz 5 and complete elite deep dives solo. It's a more demanding experience but not bad. If you're a greenbeard you probably want to play with other people just to make up for your lack of experience though.
with friends or the odd talkative pug it is most definitely worth it

t. haz5 solo EDD moron who got fricked by the last escort mission this week, just couldn't do enough damage as a scout. I'm sorry, dotty.
The only reason I’ve played as much as I have is the true end game is carrying random haz5 lobbies. Playing with a good team consistently gets boring. There’s never any weird shit that happens that requires problem solving or clutching
Solo is nice because you have a little flying robot guy you can order around who can mine minerals off ceilings, revive you, and offer fire support.
I kind of wish there was a way they could introduce it into the multiplayer.
Like maybe instead of bringing grenades you could have a few mini-bosco's with a timer/fuel/ammo limit before they detonate.
I refunded the game first time I played it, then gave it another try later. I have 800h now. The game feels underwhelming when you start solo at Haz 2 or whatever, I recommend playing on Haz3/4 and switching to pugs as soon as possible (more fun, higher bug spawn rate, etc)
Yup, it's easily the best co-op action game ever made. Great atmosphere and attitude, fun and addicting gameplay. Don't know a single person who would've dropped DRG after giving it a shot.
One of my friends dropped it after playing a little with me and another.. He's a "pvp gay".

Not 10 minutes. You really can't get over yourself, can you? How hard of a pill is it to swallow that maybe that's not a sufficient time to get invested in anything?
Especially if the only things you said about the game itself were "the menus are big" and "I died", leading people to the logical conclusion that those things are why you didn't like the game.

better luck next time.
I'd say it's like 2 hours since that's the limit for the steam refund
I almosr always give games that I think I'd like 2 hours to simmer, see how it expands. Helped me expand the library of enjoyable titles by a lot.
>then what is it?
I think you should focus more on playing and enjoying video games than making people mad, having a positive influence on the world is usually more rewarding than the easy route of pissing people off.
>barring any immediate distaste for the genre, such as not enjoying FPS games
As a general rule I hate FPS and multiplayer but I've been having a blast with the game.
You're really upset that we're not kissing your ass for not liking the game. Again, what were you expecting when you made that post? Do you have brain damage?

You cant tell if I like a game by playing it 5 minutes. Theres a middle ground between 5 minutes and 2000 hours.
I deeply disliked deeprock the first fifteen minutes, then I got back and gave it two more hours to do its thing. Now I'm 200+ hours in.
you did the equivalent of playing the first stage of No Mercy, dying before reaching the street and uninstalling the game, claiming the game's shit because you couldn't reach the finish it first try, your reasons are moronic, regardless what game you play
I mean when you say "I played the game for 10 minutes and died then instantly uninstalled" you can expect people to say you didn't give the game a fair shot. I'm not sure what reaction you were expecting to get to that sort of post.

>quit
Doesn't really seem like you gave it a fair shake.
>join a random game
That's kinda like your problem, mate.
i had the same experience.
The game is fun before then, especially in a lobby of other dorfs.
Same happened to me. I was unimpressed and realised if this is all I'm doing it's not for me and uninstalled. Maybe you need to have friends to actually enjoy you
>played the tutorial and 1 mission and i uninstalled.
good lord I didn't know it was possible to get filtered this badly
same but for me it was a hard mission with 3 other guys and we won but the game just is far too corny to be enjoyed.
Try GTFO since that was more for me but that piece of trash is 40€ so it's not worth it either and it's never on sale so i won't be getting it anytime soon
it's on sale fairly often, but doesn't go low enough to justify a purchase for me
solo isn't as fun, but it's very efficient. progression takes time but has evenly spread out rewards to still feel meaningful. see
>Don't know a single person who would've dropped DRG after giving it a shot.
Just play engie or driller, camping made easy. I'm sorry that your brother is moronic.
It does piss me off when five flying homosexuals just load in all around me from nowhere and start blasting.
I'm sorry your brother is moronic. Sounds like what he actually wants is a wave defense game like Sanctum 2, but I'm sure he'd complain that the enemies only ever come from one spot so it's too predictable.
MH is much more fun than this reddit trash. Play more coop games, moron.
while MH can be more fun, DRG has the superior coop mechanics imo
>MH
Black person opinion disregarded.
>MH
>CO-OP
You didn't beat the monster
he says, with 2 pets carrying his ass
Says the moron that brings up monhun unprovoked
The game is fun at first but gets boring really fast since it doesn’t have a lot of content or deep enough mechanics to make it replayable.
Say what you want, On-site Refining never gets old.
In general missions might be too formulaic though. They should at least mix up the Drilldozer boss phases. Or have a couple different potential repair tasks you need to complete for Salvage Mission.
As long as your team doesn't go full moron with laying pipe.
The gameplay and attitude alone are top notch.
>just because i play the same game over and over again for 1k hours like an autist means it's fun and good
imagine being this moronic
It's one of a kind, so waiting for more content is a huge pain. Why can't more games do terrain damage? We've had the tech since like fricking Red Faction.
I got it for free and played for a weekend, was pretty fun for a short while but more variance in the mission structure and objectives would be nice.
I hope you never forget to bring back Dotty with you after successful mission.
Frick dotty, I make sure to dig a hole, put her head in there, and seal it off with a plascrete platform. After the job is done she’s just scrap metal.
Definition of SOVL tbh.
>Devs voice the characters
>Instantly recognisable art style
>Good gameplay
>Community isn't complete normalgay cancer
>normalgay cancer
Implying a normie is less enjoyable to talk too than one of you socially moronic genetic dead ends.
Ok
I won't imply it, I will say it outright: Give me a thousand autists and morons before even one normalgay. Now go back.
Ganker loves this game. Just because moronic members shout everything with charm or friendly features is a "reddit game" doesn't mean nobody likes it here.
If reddit game means has an active and nontoxic community then no wonder so many purists hate video games.
We’re rich!
Which class is the best? And why it's neither, because every class is unique and best in its own way ?
driller is clearly overpowered in a lot of ways but mainly because his weapons scale the best with bigger swarms
The cross zip formation is also so broken that I’ve stopped using it
>cross zip is broken
Barring a mactera plague, they’re incredibly easy to either take out, zip away or just drop to the safety line before they shoot
what is the cross zip formation?
its just when you have two zips crossing each other so you could drop from one to the other to quickly get down
>weakest class
>has a literal become invincible button and guaranteed revives
If only zipline uphill speed was higher it would be usable for traversal, now a fricking engie can bing bing wahoo the entire team in less time than it takes for you to go halfway that distance. And for a tiny fracrion of his total ammo pool.
>Do an assignment.
>Every mission has the Rival Presence modifier.
Man I don't hate the robots as much as the rest of the playerbase does but frick off holy shit.
It's basically free hacked companion.
But frick those sniper turret tho
>Join an open mission from the terminal after getting the game

is this game like L4D2 versus where taking a suboptimal step gets you removed
Never happened with me, but I'm only on my 14th hour.
Getting kicked is rare, it's only happened a handful of times to me in like 700 hours of play.
Virtually nobody will micromanage your loadout or kick you for your way of playing. But probably not best to run off solo, and try to pay attention to chat or people will get mad.
Alternatively, host your own games, and no one can ever kick you.
did the server had "LV 100 or kick" "Silver 3 stars or kick" or some other similar homosexualry?
It's nothing at all like L4D2. Getting kicked is very rare outside of the occasional sperg host. If you're new and unpromoted you might get kicked from haz 4 games, but even that's not a guarantee.
No. I've never had such experience.
Easily the friendliest and most supportive community I know.
You should seriously start by Soloing / playing with friends though.
Depends on the gay you're playing with. I once got kicked out because I wasn't using Iron Will.
Getting kicked is rare. DRG is probably one of the most chill communities I've had the pleasure of playing with.
wait why is picking flowers bad?
It isn’t. The flowers are for a secondary objective and there’s no reason not to do them unless it’s something gay like point extraction gunk seeds.
What happened to that cats ears
folded down for high speed low drag
big floppa seething
I only kick people if they're an unpromoted greenbeard in haz 4 and die once every minute. And yes this actually happens more than you think.
same
>haz4
haz4 with pugs and randos, haz5 with friends or people using voip. Haz3 if I'm up late and I can only find servers with 100+ ping.
the general skill level of haz5 pub lobbies is significantly more palatable than the shitter containment that is haz4
what this guy said
Shitters naturally flock to Haz4, making it harder than Haz5 most of the time
I had it happen two times now that the one who opened the lobby raged that we did the rival machine event of this season and aborted the entire mission.
Don't know if it was the same moron because it happened weeks apart.
>Exploring and going deeper looking for things to mine
were you playing scout and being obnoxiously far away from the rest of your team?
I got kicked playing scout like this once. Except I was with the other dorfs so the only one I was obnoxiously far from was the engie pissing around in rooms the rest of us moved on from.
Turned out he was the host.
I was even checking back with him until we were finally 3 rooms ahead.
I've played for 700 hours and not been kicked once. Must be a skill issue.
I played this game for over 200 hours and this hasn't happened to me once. I didn't even know you can kick people in DRG.
I kick bugmen and rooskies all the time
I kick people for drilling the black box 20 feet down into the ground and I kick people who are rude little shits and do stuff like activate the tritilyte shard during a doretta mission as we're driving by after being explicity told via voice comms to not activate it.
You have to be a real tard to get kicked from DRG unless the host is just an absolute c**t
it has some autists. unfortunately the only way to deal with them is to be the host yourself
Why the frick are gyro options so barebone on PS5?
Is there a way to make gyro faster/more sensitive and turn off the moronic acceleration?
>PS5
Reddit game, enjoy your troony discord profiles injected directly into your game and standing around screaming “we’re reddit!” at a rock for 5 minutes. How anybody can co-op with the absolutely insufferable community in this game is beyond my comprehension.
>in-jokes that help build a sense of community are insufferable and reddit
Have you considered simply not being a joyless, bitter homosexual?
I play games to play games, not stand around yelling at a rock. All of the “community-enforced” dogshit (for lack of a better term) is fricking moronic and a waste of time. Multiple people have gotten angry at me for not slapping the dice for example, it’s beyond cringey and moronic.
sounds like you got trolled
I agree. you should stay away.
Both of you should go back
Are these things programmed to try and get in your way? I swear they're hugging me more than the glyphids are half the time.
I always kill these c**ts on sight if I'm not short on ammo.
Try dumping pheromones on them, it works pretty well.
>team killed explosive bug
>trying to move away from blast zone
>M.U.L.E. came from a cave and pushed me right into it
Funniest death so far
>be drilling a short cut
>turn around and see bunch of exploders running toward me
>figure I'll just run through them instead of wasting the ammo
>hurl myself into the middle of the pack
>come face to face with Molly as hissing fills the speakers
She's a stupid b***h that I'd kick to death if I could but I can't help loving her.

Man, you guys really bite into bait hard. Lol. Lmao.
When someone acts like a huge homosexual, he's the one who looks stupid, not the guy who responds.
>you can overdrive others enginere's turrets as well
>you can taze other engies' turrets
SHOCKING
I just want the sticky fuel OC. Pkease, ive been playing this for 300 hours and i still havent droped it.
i got NTP as my final OC
the wait was not worth it at all
its ok for temp shock spam but really you only need that amount of damage for dreads but end up sacrificing your flamer longevity for swarms and robots. with blistering necrosis being good now, i just use that for dreads and keep my general purpose flamer for other stuff. the only loadout swapping i need to do is between mega power supply and blistering necrosis.
Same. I build for sticky around compact feed valves and the ammo economy feels way better
Not that other builds are shit or anything but sticky absolutely has purpose.
i just facemelter everything, rarely have ammo issues even on haz 5 so i don't really get the complaints there, the game isn't that hard
>160% flow rate Face Melter with increased direct damage and explode targets on direct kills
>melt through limitless amounts of bugs like butter
I love that shit
you run out of ammo real quick
nta but its never been an issue for me and i use facemelter all the time
Not if you're smart about how you play, I never have issues with ammo.
>explode enemies on direct kills.
This will 100% come back to bite you in the ass eventually just fyi.
I don't care, more damage good.
>why didn't that huuli drop anything?
>why didn't that det explode?
>why didn't that crassus explode?
>why am I dead?
>why is he dead?
Etc etc etc.
>caring about huulis
>not running friendly perk
>detonator bugging out and not exploding is a bad thing
I'm still using it and there's nothing you can do to change my mind, since it's fun and very efficent for multikills
>>why didn't that huuli drop anything?
because you're an idiot who let it run away from you
Huulis have been kinda strange lately though, they'll YEET themselves into the wall 4 seconds after becoming alerted despite the Sc**t practically riding their dicks?
I have never seen "targets explode" doing any of these things you are describing. If this is a known issue, maybe it's an old one that doesn't apply anymore.
Just had a det not go off in last week's EDD cause of moronic driller-kun running a stupid mod. So we had to kill both dets instead of just one.
You sure it didn't get frozen or something? Freezing is the only thing I know of that nullifies a bulk det.
The explosion mod on crspr overwrites any natural death animation. It has been this way the entirety of season 2 (and probably has always been this way)
Bulk has a special 2 phase death though. First it "dies" and then 2 seconds later it explodes. In all my days of running "Targets Explode" I've never seen one just poof instead of the elaborate death animation.
I need to look into this more.
heat radiance got stealth buffed too since burning is now really good for robots
not him but Heat wave is a guaranteed downing mod in Magma
>haha you were shooting praetorian? looks like you were too close to a magma worm and got down, i'm sure that wont happen aga- oh there was another one, that was really your fault
Magma biome, not even once
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the explosions from the t5 mod hurt you. I can't test it right now but I run facemelter with the explosion mod and I don't recall it ever biting me in the ass.
The direct damage can't hurt you but the environmental will. See
I don't know why you'd take the CRSPR to the Magma Core, anyway.
Best passive and active perks?
Iron will and field medic have salvaged more missions than I'd care to admit.
Born ready is really nice too, providing you're using weapons with magazines. I almost always run Thorns, too, as it takes care of swarmers and naedocytes.
I ran thorns the entire early/mid game. Fantastic perk, but once I got a lot of other great ones competing for the slot it got booted. It did help that the Guns were getting pretty damn good at that point too with OCs.
What do you use instead?
Depends: driller gets vampire, deep pockets, and unstoppable. Actives are second wind and dash.
Scout gets sweet tooth, deep pockets, and resupplier, with second wind and field medic.
Engie has unstoppable, born ready, and resupplier, with dash and shield link.
Gunnar gets resupplier, unstoppable and born ready(veteran depositor for filler if I run minigun), with dash and shield link.
Some times I swap an active for Steve if I feel I don't need field medic or shield link.
Making 50 damage into 25 damage isn't that big of a deal imo, especially since there's already an innate FF reduction based on hazard level.
>scout gets downed on a platform bridge high above the floor
>start shooting pgl at it to break the platforms and get him down
>after three shots, gunner leaps in front my reticle for some fricking reason
>blow his ass away and down him because im running hyperprop
>get his dumb ass up and finish knocking down the scoot
fricking greenies, shit was pretty funny though and things were safe enough that it wasnt an issue
SYIH is pretty fun, does solid damage to nemeses.
It's L4D or Killing Floor by way of Minecraft. If you don't like either of these three titles, you probably aren't going to like DRG.
understood. Probably not for me then.I'm probably just impatient. Thank you
Understandable, have a good day! If you feel the need to get your money's worth then cheat a maxed savefile just to try the high tier stuff.
The classes get a lot more impactful and fun once you start upgrading weapons and getting new ones that may jive with you better. That said the game is pretty repetitive and the missions themselves don’t offer too much of a different experience once you’ve experienced them. How much did you play? Did you at least experience most the mission types?
What this guy said, the game really opens up and becomes more enjoyable once you have all the weapons, mods, and overclocks. Unfortunately it does take a little while to get to that point.
1/2 hour per mission and maybe 3 missions per 2 levels puts you at everything unlocked for one class (CL20) in 15h. While steep, you get incremental boosts, weapons, skills, and microchoices on the way that spice it up.
Also, post steam if you want to coop on euro hours.
Maybe it's not your kind of game, or maybe you're just playing on the easy difficulties. I've got hundreds of hours in it and the most fun I've had is finishing a mission by the skin of my teeth playing with complete fricking strangers
Classes are fun once you get upgrades going and the missions are much more hectic on higher difficulties.
Beginning is kinda shit yeah
>Frick you
who are you talking to? everybody loves DRG.
>Kick all 3 teammates just as we're about to finish the mission
aaaaaaah you mad
i play driller and sc**t. i enjoy freedom of movement and these guys give two different flavors of it. the crossbow is great as a toolbox of a bunch of effects.
It's alright. Hosting is the best experience, but I've met great people when joining American lobbies.
I've made friends all over the world playing DRG. Don't be afraid to use your mic and the chat, you never know who you'll meet.
Some of my best games have been with a pro level racist turk. We talked about gypsies and blasted bugs. Good times.
I always play in random lobbies and it's good
I was tempted to buy this but it had black dwarves so maybe when it becomes f2p I'll give it a shot
>you can be a pearly white Aryan dwarf killing every single blackie joining your lobby
I don't see the issue here
Won't you just get kicked or something?
Can't get kicked if you're hosting.
homie I got into DRG BECAUSE Ganker recommended it, you need to play it with frens tho
Let's summarize what's fricked with the game
>game still has bugs that frick you over, inputs dropping and ping issues launching you across caves
>devs balance the game around haz3, which no one cares about
>a lot of upgrades and OCs could be better, devs are scared of making things fun
>bugs can still hit you through solid covers, as long as you stand next to it
>going too casual with the annoying pings instead of making them functional
>no good tutorial, you only get to play as gunner and new players will sucks massive dick at anything else, it takes a lot of time to learn the game
>devs balance the game around haz3, which no one cares about
This one will always be baffling. Even if the vast majority played it, who gives a shit if something is OP in a difficulty with two tiers to move up from?
If you’re playing Haz 3, you’re not going to be too worried about being carried since you’re either new or a legitimate casual
>>devs balance the game around haz3, which no one cares about
I always see this one bandied about, what's the source?
I can understand why they wouldn’t do that, to be fair.
Seeing something gated behind possibly over a hundred of hours is going to put people off
...but all cosmetics go into the Cargo Crates once the season is over?
He wasn't describing season cosmetics, doesn't sound like. I think anon wants gear gated behind PLAYER levels.
Cargo crates are completely random.
If you have something that is solely attainable by putting an assload of hours in, it’s going to immediately put people off even if it’s cosmetic.
VT2 had this problem with the 100 mission hats
Honestly not much different from just being unavailable for most people, cargo crates are disgustingly diluted.
>get an armor color in a lost pack and it applies for the entire class
>get a pickaxe part and everyone gets it
>get a weapon color and it applies to the entire class
Vs
>emote for one dwarf
>weapon skin for one weapon for one dwarf
Feels good not playing on pc. PS5 has the biggest user base enjoy your dead game gay
Game seriously needs an optimization pass. Performance gets worse every major update.
I want golden pot beer
I just want an Oily Oaf
Have a Dark Morkite for your non ME mission
I like when I have a full lobby, so I can order four glyphid slammers and suck 'em all down myself.
I play this on the daily but I'm feeling pretty burned out. Games can't last forever but I do hope the next season isn't off by too long, and that it'll be better than the last.
Take a well deserved break, next season will have a "surprise" and new grenades.
If you haven't seen it yet.
Seems like it's coming sometime in Q4.
eeeh "sometime in Q4" huh? I hope it's early Winter.
Yeah I should, I don't like playing the same game for months anyways but the game has become my comfort zone
I feel like MH would be my kinda game but I absolutely despise the way your character controls, the attack animations especially are so unbelievable slow and unresponsive.
It just depends on your setup and weapon you are using. You can move and attack more fluently if you know what you are doing.
As far as MonHun goes, Sword & Shield and Dual Swords were what got me into the rhythm, they are awkward compared to other CAGs but fast enough to still be bearable.
Season one was released on November 15, I believe. I'm hoping it's not any later in the year than that.
I've heard the starship troopers mod is good, but I haven't tried it, myself.
Also this.
"Verified" mods are still allowed in all lobbies, recommend checking the mod site
I hate that 90% of mods are just audio replacements
QoL and Audio are the majority, but the balance rework and starship troopers are examples of great endgame mods
Sadly most of the 'rebalance' mods are terrible.
I wanna spend my error cubes.
This. I hope they aren't too proud of their "haha this resource does nothing" approach. Because frick that, I worked hard for all mine.
try some mods
maybe a mod that adds more end game content like overclocks and shit
>tfw helping a greenbeard get Karl would be proud
I got that with some randoms
>try to get it
>never get it
>host 5 games in a row
>didn't get it
>what the frick
>look up my chevos
>got it months ago
sometimes my moronation astounds me
I wanna play it; however, the only "friends" that I have that play it smoke weed every day and are huge reddit memelords from highschool 10 years ago. So I'm on my own...
unlock haz5 and roll the dice
anything lower and you'll run into morons guranteed
bro i don't even own it and I know nothing about it. It just looks fun and I want to try it
do it homosexual
randos are fine
and youre friend cant be that bad
my only friends cant play anything without smoking weed either and we do fine
I did the latest Elite Deep Dive this weekend with the fricking Shield Disruption Escort as the Haz 5.5 mission, and we somehow survived, but holy frick the Scout would NOT put up lights, we pretty much did the entire heartstone fight with a dark ceiling covered in spitters.
Did you atleast ask him to do it? I know I frickin suck at putting up flares as scout and always realise 3/4 of the way through that I have it
Just hold down control ( laser pointer thingie ) and click on the scout after asking once.
The paltry reward for getting a whole team away could never encourage that attitude.
>leave no dwarf behind
Drop pod called?
Every Dwarf for himself!
Once I realized its a trivial penalty for not making it to the drop pod then the run back is for fricking around.
I always go back for my fellow dorfs unless they're on the other side of the map and I'm the only guy who made it to the can. It's just fun, and like you said, the penalty is insignificant so if I die, too, it's no big deal as long as the mission isn't in jeopardy.
>Once I realized its a trivial penalty for not making it to the drop pod
what's the math?
>Also is it just me or has the spawn rate of crassus detonators skyrocketed this season?
Not for me.
I started in s2 and yeah one about every 10 hours of play sounds about right in my experience. No idea what it was like prior obviously.
you just got unlucky, theyve been pretty consistent for me.
I've only seen a couple this season. Must be luck of the draw.
>I stopped doing it.
And you call yourself a dwarf?
>Shooting people once or twice, on the other hand, has worked quite well for me.
Such an American solution.
I prefer to throw a satchel charge at their feet and ping them again, they'll learn.
That or Hoxxes IV gets a new crater.
As a scout I go by the rule that if I can see then I assume everyone else can too, so if you need light ping the ceiling.
Playing with randos is fine.
Fricking play with randoms. I always do that and if it goes bad C4 them all to hell. I actually even made friends with some randos.
Does anyone else have terrible connection and lag problems? I know its P2P but damn. I feel like other P2P games do better.
This is the second DRG thread I see that implies Ganker is somehow against it. Did the redditposters kick into overdrive and trick morons into thinking Ganker hates it like they did with Hollow Knight or what?
The last thread had a schizo sperging out the whole thread calling anyone talking about it a shill.
Every semi-popular game gets a dedicated schizo-autist on this board. You can't even mention the game Disco Elysium without him appearing like fricking Beetlejuice
That schizo has been at it on and off for over a year now.
I presume he keeps falling into diabetic comas or getting range banned
Oh, so it's just DRG getting its schizo. It's like a baptism for games on Ganker. If your game doesn't have a schizo it's not a real Ganker game yet.
Interesting
The mods to this game are sometimes allright.
I wish there was a way to make bosco work in multiplayer.
Why is management sending out these cardboard stands?
>WEEE WOOO WEEE WOOO the dicky police just got alerted
You WILL stop kicking barrels into the launch tube.
You WILL stop recalibrating the gravity.
Or if I had friends who liked playing...
>cull mission, ostensibly to help ease pressure on other miners by attracting and slaughtering glyphids
>point extraction map based around wave defence
>distinct from egg collection by mission control sending timed pulses rather than you triggering hordes personally
I’d play it, but it would need to have the mining sorted out. Unless it decided to go full shooter and cut it in favour of getting mineral bonuses for extra waves
>somebody gets downed
>run to help them
>they start spamming call for help
>turn 360 and walk away
He was actually just excited to see you.
>do to downed dorf
>"BASTARDS GOT ME, HEELP"
>"I COULD USE SOME HELP"
>point laser pointer
>"DOING A BANG UP JOB MATE"
>"KEEP IT UP"
everytime
Is there a discord Ganker or /vg/ discord for this game?
>pisscord
I just want friends to play this game with
Play the game and join a room and you'll probably run into a Gankergay. Better yet, host a game and post it here.
Link is classed as spam, follow the image for how to find it
Did the shills hire someone new after they blew it with the image counter thing yesterday?
"Image counter?"
It looks like its the same marketing group. Same stale memes and come backs and all.
Could be a new group using the same playbook.
It really makes it look like there's a reason they are so perturbed by the comment.
tl;dr - they can't handle the bants like most marketers sent to do a job.
>posting tl;dr for a two sentence post
GET OFF YOUR PHONE YOU FRICKING homosexual
THAT’S NOT TOO LONG FOR ANYONE WHO ISN’T A TODDLER NO MATTER HOW MUCH OF YOUR SCREEN IS TAKEN UP
Looks like the Time zone indicates that our resident schizo is American.
Shocking
He probably isn't a schizo these threads always feel off.
Ganker is the only thread where you can talk about the game, threads never felt off to me, /coopg/ is shit and /vm/ is full of mouthbreathing inbreds that will go on 100 post tangents because you're not plying the 200% optimal build they got off karl.gg and spam calculator screencaps on you. If you want to bait morons, go there and post that you like using special powder for fun.
>off karl.gg
What the frick, it actually exists
it's really fun but after getting every oc and trying a lot of builds there's not much to do, i'm not playing 500h more to unlock the remaining cargo crate items
i got all the weapons OC and pickaxe, now what?
Play the game for fun.
every single cosmetic in this game is ugly. only problem i have with it.
too many tiny variations on moustaches and beards which aren't compatible with most cool looking helmets and hats
At least they're probably easier to model so there's probably good reason for it
>introduce new primaries and secondarys
>don't introduce more ways to get overclocks
i'm glad i had them all before each update but i feel bad for new players
>join escort
>we've got a battery crate behind the first wall
>there's also crassus in there
>about to suggest we dig to it and kill it before it threatens the dozer
>chinaman or something driller starts it
>immediately gets himself and 2 others killed and through all that fun ride we lose both doretta limbs
>I try to stay alive to at least kite it away but get grabbed and brought to it
>iron will with the scout and we manage to get the engi up who helps kill it and the driller for the trash at least
>driller is moronic so he dies instantly again
>barely prevent the mission from fricking us and arrive at the first refueling
>driller hogs one of the cans
>won't go to the ceiling oil even if I point at him and it before I shoot a zip to it directly
>we have to wait until the second fricking bug rush for him to drop it
>next refueling is the same story and we have to wait until the wave so our supplies run low
>there's a kursite event, we want to leave it for later
>drooler calls a supply just for himself in the midway cave
>starts the ommoran
>scout runs away to grab any nitra for ammo while me and engi deal with it
>driller wouldn't even look at the laser spikes so I have to minigun them
>we go back to dig out some of that crassus goodness because only one of us(me) wanted to do the event, we're all civil and voted like humans
>driller starts it in the second to last cave while we're in the first one
>rush to it and finish it
>the tard hogs the last kursite crystal and is too stupid to deposit it with the low gravity so I have to pickaxe another praet to death and do it in the last seconds
>engi calls the mule from across the cave
>I see the dumbass circling the moving molly like a fly near shit
>get on it and tell him I will kill him if he tries to call the pod
>tries to call the pod and eats my last 3 bulldog rounds
>we calmly walk to the crassus site, pick it all and call the pod while that frick was laying down
>even get the moron up before leaving
Frick chinks.
This story deserves at least one (you).
I had a good laugh.
>think of the rabbits, Lye Nee
i know sticky flames/fuel is more efficient but facemelter is making me not hate the crspr
yeah i feel that
i also like the shotgun oc for the sludge pump, just feels right
i'll have to try that, i only used the sludge pump a handful of times
goo bomber special is fun too
definitely go for the cheaper charge shots so you can spam that shit
as for the goo shotty the direct damage is just absurd, probably driller's best option for dreads especially paired with the cwc
i like the minishells, i run it with as big a mag as possible and full auto and just spray
i can understand not digging it though
High damage builds are just way more fun in general. "Minishells" for warthog is fricking miserable, for example. Doesn't even matter that it gives you a billion shells, it just doesn't' feel good.
i only take mini shells if im doing turret whip
Ish. Breakpoint builds is where it's at, which sucks because the devs obfuscate the data or don't show enough info on the weapons screen. Did you know explosives only deal max damage in a 2m radius? I fricking didn't, because it isn't stated anywhere in game.
Where'd you find that information?
Definitely jives with my experience using C4.
NTA but this guy goes extremely in depth with weapons and how each work mechanically.
https://www.youtube.com/c/LazyMaybe/videos
thanks anon
Extra small tips I've also picked up:
>armor break is bugged and won't work for AoE
>gunner ziplines are bugged and give fall dmg reduct until you due, then it can be reapplied
>all buff beer applies twice, scout can reach 100% fall damage reduction with tunnel rat plus above zipline and armor boost
>reload cancelling saves a massive amount of time
>firerate is moronic and will unintentionally increase reload speed, doublebarrel shotgun and scout flares have equal reload times (but vastly increased dps) if you pick FR over RS. Same thing with other similar guns.
>sludge cannon goo can be lit on fire
>ground fire can be combined with direct stream fire to completely frick robots (even nemesis) in the ass
Will update if I remember any more
>picking level 1 drill speed mod 1 on driller gives you too much speed if you have mod 2, you can't walk that fast making it moot compared to damage or fuel
I never tried tapping, but I'll do it. You live and you learn, so ignore my first drillpost.
You'll have to get used to over heat timings all over again because it builds it so oddly but yeah, listen for 4 rock breaks and then let off until you kiss the wall, then 4 more rock breaks.
>Did you know explosives only deal max damage in a 2m radius? I fricking didn't, because it isn't stated anywhere in game
its glossed over in the miners manual that explosive damage is bigger near the center of an aoe
its just not given a stat in the equipment screen probably because they want to discourage min-maxing autism
no
drill speed is absolutely strictly necessary if you are actually going to do your fricking job as a driller
this meme is probably the sole reason why so few drillers actually drill out terrain and create football fields for the rest of the team to bask in,
without it you are going to get stuck on the smallest pixels and your momentum will be set to 0.000001 which makes drilling stuff out a pain in the fricking ass and you are going to end up wasting your heckin precious reddit spreadsheet fuel drilling air anyway
drill speed directly correlates with how much shit you can open up before the next batch of enemies engage or the adhd spastics in your team loose patience and activate the objective
the fuel and damage increase is a pitiful fricking joke compared to the speed increase especially since, if you are extremely autistic, you can tap-drill to save fuel
a good driller that actually opens up terrain has 10000x more impact than any of the other team members PLEASE DRILL SHIT OUT ITS SO PAINFUL TO WATCH WHEN IM STUCK IN A DIFFERENT CLASS
>game is about shooting bugs with numbers to gain numbers of gold and minerals, but hides explosive numbers
at least give us the option to show hidden stats or gain knowledge outside of the wiki, 1-tapping with PGL versus 2-tapping feels like shit when it can easily be avoided by knowing that the armor break doesn't add anything and fire always deals full damage
>armor break doesn't add anything and fire always deals full damage
What
firedamage isn't halved at maximum explosive radius and armor break doesn't add the promised extra damage (to the armor) for explosives
>driller isn't using C4 on enemies
>there are gigantic stalactites that he could easily vaporise with it
>and stalagmites he could clear away and make a clear firing zone
>and tons of small shit he could clear instantly
AG mix is my only sludge OC, no actual damage tweaks but being able to scope bugs and groups from afar is neat
Neurotoxin Payload on the Autocannon Trivializes everything outside of Robots and Dreadnaughts.
i'm surprised of all things fun, neurotoxin hasn't been nerfed yet
No one plays gunner thats why
i do but i dont use NTP
I do.
The missile launcher is one of my favorite all time vidya weapons.
>Have an absolutely excessive amount of the purple ingredient and a shortage of everything else.
>Blackout stout is literally the only kind of beer I can regularly drink.
Post yfw you see a special mission just after you called the drop pod.
Post yfw you try desperately to complete it, only to die because there's too many bugs/you ran out of ammo.
>it's another jaded multi-promoted tryhard that refuses to mine gold or do second objectives because it's worthless to him
nice community indeed. full of drones just speedrunning the weekly assignments
>second objectives
if we have all the morkite and 2/10 fossils i'm hitting the button
This, frick fossils. Any other objective im fine with. But you can tell when fossils are gonna double the mission time.
fun game for about 1 month exactly then lost all interest.
Not enough content variation in terms of map generation, enemy design and game modes. If you keep playing beyond that I can only assume you're autistic and feel comfort in doing the same thing over and over.
>Play Scout
>Someone pings a fossil or boolo
>My brain immediately realizes its my job to get these because they're often in bullshit places
>I look around and get the thing in seconds
>Anyone else plays Scout
>No flares
>Nothing is mined even with platforms
>Refuses to get a fossil in the same room as him within eyesight that he knows nobody else can reach while he can in 1 second
>Kick
>rando scout not using flares or getting fossils
>rando engie not using turrets or platforms
>rando driller making moronic paths and c4ing everyone
i don't know what's more annoying
>rando engie not using turrets or platforms
I'm a Silver Rank Engie and I just keep forgetting that my Sentries are a thing most of the time, except on Escort and Salvage. However I do try to make sure I have a platform under every wall mineral I see - the issue I end up having though is Scouts who seem averse to using their Grappling Hook. Even after pining them and the mineral multiple times.
>Fall damage
It's not...
boo hoo my poor ankles
the platforming and verticality would have no risk without fall damage
bro, your tunnel rat and gunner ziplines and engi platforms and scout grapple/armorpassive
>tunnel rat
How can I have drink that I need always available?
>scout grapple
That's what I am using
>he can't cancel fall damage with the clamber animation or by falling on teammates/big bugs
ngmi
My Black person
wait, you can do it with bugs?
Bugs and teammates, with some exceptions like lootbugs or the floating passive mactera.
just the bugs that are big. Praetorians +
you can do it on pipelines too, same as gunner zips
never get tired of seeing a dwarf getting downed from fall damage.
I once died 3 times in a row from fall damage after getting heal, funniest shit.
>playing engie
>scout misjudged his grapple because he couldn't be arsed to wait five seconds for platform during a wave and is stuck on a wall, turns around and spams X while looking at me
>I slowly shake my head, scout nods frantically
>eventually gives in to despair and jumps down, dying instantly from fall damage
>walk over
>GREAT JOB!
Capcha related
Why would a sc**t not have hover boots?
Why would you ever use hover boots on sc**t?
So I don't embarass myself when I misjudge a grappel.
I also haven't gotten the timing down for "fling yourself into a rockface + power attack" so I like having the insurance.
i still sometimes flub the superman drill into the sheer wall as driller. its fun being like a landshark
>fling yourself into a rockface + power attack
You'll get used to it, it becomes muscle memory with time, I don't even think twice about it, just do it and don't even think what happens if I fail. And I stopped failing.
>and I stopped falling
God I wish that were me. I run special powder cause I still frick it once in awhile but far more often than that I get slingshotted across the room because "lmao physics."
But yeah hover boots is shit for many many reasons.
Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
>dash away from enemies
>jump at the end to maximise the duration
>mfw i see the ground sailing out from under me
>it ain't much but it's honest work.
>Sticky fuel
Come back, white man.
>max aoe disperser compound
do you dare enter my gooey world?
i tried this for a long time and eventually i went back to flamer. i really wanted to like it, and i did but wave cooker synergy with fire won out in the end.
I swap back and forth constantly. I love playing both of them, but I can’t stand using cryo anymore
>no goblins where they use primitive guns to attack you during your mission
My wishlist for DRG
>Give all the beers various buffs/debuffs and the effects last throughout the mission.
>Tweak bug spawns and put swarmer nests close to minerals low to the ground so drillers have a reason to clear them
>Up the difficulty across the board
Class balance is a tough one. Most OCs need a rework. How I THINK things should be
>Scout specialized for ranged/burst damage
>Driller specialized for crowd/elemental/melee damage
>Engie specialized for mactera/robots/support (not too sure about this one)
>Gunner jack of all trades.
Thoughts?
The only thing I’ll comment on is big tank bugs. They were designed with a specific purpose in mind, and they still fill that purpose. We just need more bugs designed to do other shit instead
Maybe if we only had 1 or 2 but we have 5 of them now and they're just annoying. Same strategy every time.
>Stay away and shoot the glowing weakspot
>5
oppressors and bulks are the two I’m thinking of that fit “bullet sponge”what are the other three?
Praetorians, nemesis, breeders.
>praets
nah
>neme, breeder
instakill options from multiple classes in the form of incendiary and cryo respectively, not to mention breeders have a 3x crit multiplier for their mussy
>nah
when was the last time you got downed by a praet? they are not threatening at all. Hell the poison cloud after death is more dangerous than they are.
>breeder
the weakspot is small enough that you have to get really close to hit it with most weapons so I don't think it counts.
cryo is the only guaranteed elemental damage you're going to have and that's only because scouts other grenades suck. requiring classes to bring specific loadouts for general enemy spawns is annoying.
>they are not threatening at all
yes we are in agreement on that. I’m just saying they also do not take much resource or time to kill
>I don’t think it counts
I can’t say this without sounding like a dick but I mean it as a genuine response. Skill issue.
>guaranteed elemental
Talk to the Danes then because robots have enforced an elemental meta. Fire is nearly guaranteed in some form from at least 2 classes and you said it yourself scouts are nearly guaranteed packing pocket cryos to dump on a breeder
>Skill issue.
Skill doesn't remove random bullet spread.
>because robots have enforced an elemental meta
which is part of the reason everybody fricking hates robots
>Fire is nearly guaranteed in some form from at least 2 classes
Incendiary grenades are not enough to instakill nemesis if you can even manage to land one on him and there are plenty of gunners who take cluster grenades over them instead. Driller has 3 great primaries so expecting them all to run the flamethrower is moronic.
>because robots have enforced an elemental meta
which is part of the reason everybody fricking hates robots
bring fire to invasion missions just like you'll bring good crowd clear for defensive missions, they're clearly marked out. engie has hot crystal beam, gunner has firenades and hot bullets, driller has crisps, scout has diddly dick but can zoop away to hack the turret central
scout has TEF but i cant imagine it would do much good, idk i dont use it
oh yeah and the venting OC too
overclocks are RNG to get and even so they are for the lategame, the other options are basekit.
fair enough
scout has fire crossbow? Ive never had the chance to use it against bots so no clue if its actually a functional counter
it's really shit, you'll kill patrolbots with the damage faster than the fire
He's got overlocks for adding elemental damages to the default bolts
Fire bolts aren’t a heat source so the heat level decreases as the bot heats up. Which is why they can’t ignite shit larger than a grunt without another bug acting as a heat source. I’m fairly confident when I say it’s impossible to ignite a bot with heat bolts
Fire Bolts are only good if you use the pheremone bolt to group a bunch of grunts together and use the firebolts to set them on fire.
>bring fire to invasion missions just like you'll bring good crowd clear for defensive missions
you have to deal with robots in all mission types not just rival presence. prospectors, data deposits, nemesis, etc. randomly getting screwed over because you brought cryo and a nemesis spawns is NOT FUN.
>gunner has firenades and hot bullets
neither are that good against nemesis.
>engie has hot crystal beam
engie also has two other extremely strong secondary options he is much more likely to be running
>neither are that good against nemesis.
if your team brings heat too, then stacking heat helps overheating faster. going rambo then you'd better pack driller.
>you have to deal with robots in all mission types not just rival presence. prospectors, data deposits, nemesis, etc. randomly getting screwed over because you brought cryo and a nemesis spawns is NOT FUN.
random spawns do frick you, but picking off the odd nemesis with regular bullets or a prospector for the cübe isn't really a chore to do every now and again. Damage is damage, fire is just a quick delete. Cryocannon is complete arse, sadly, there I agree with you.
>engie also has two other extremely strong secondary options he is much more likely to be running
yes there is a tradeoff, as always, between stacking more heat or bringing laser cutter/pgl for overall hordeclear even if defractor can be modded to have both decent AoE capabilities AND heat without OCs.
fire bolts suck ass at applying fire, use ANY other overclock over it.
secondaries and skins
>if your team brings heat too
which is even less likely. you are fabricating an extremely unlikely scenario to defend this shitty mechanic.
>I don't have friends, I don't talk in lobbies, and I only join games in progress
no dev tweaks can fix that, I'm afraid
>there is no skill in defeating a nemesis it's just a dice roll if one spawns and if your driller happens to be using crispr
bullets apply death so try pointing your guns at it. for the sake of the argument I could argue there's a dice roll element in killing praetorians if you only shoot the shell instead of the ass if your engie doesn't bring laser cutter to shoot through it.
most of my friends got bored of drg and I don't blame them
>bullets apply death so try pointing your guns at it
now you're just talking in circles. it's a bullet sponge and you know it.
it's obvious at this point you're just a gsg dicksucker so I won't waste any more of my time
You’re actually talking to a different guy than who originally replied to you about it. I stand by my statement that robot heat enforced meta means you have near guaranteed multiple sources of heat on your team and with that a consistent way to instakill neme. Even if you only have crispr driller or hyper prop engie then neme is a non issue
>near guaranteed multiple sources of heat
none of those sources are guaranteed.
>You’re actually talking to a different guy than who originally replied to you about it.
yeah sure you aren't, frick off moron.
I’m
not
why would I literally make the antithesis statement to my argument that I’ve been making from the get go?
To reply tho, it’s called an enforced meta for a reason. By definition it means that people are significantly more likely to be using certain gear. Which would mean as I’ve said several times, it’s “nearly”guaranteed. Nearly being the operative word, so I’m not disagreeing with you on the fact that it’s absolutely guaranteed, just that it’s extremely more common than you are implying
heat shard defractor isn’t even engineers best way to deal with bots
>random bullet spread
unless the breeder is on the other side of a fairly large cave and you’re using a low accuracy auto primary it shouldn’t be an issue. A breeder mouth is ~1/4 of its body length while extended
>robots
yep agree there
Think about all the way you can inflict heat from every class. A gunner not bringing incendiaries doesnt barely matter after the changes. The only class that doesn’t have a significant, or rather good, way to inflict heat is scout
>you’re using a low accuracy auto primary it shouldn’t be an issue.
that is the majority of the weapons in the game.
>gk2
lol. scouts excused anyway because cryo nades make this a non issue
>stubby
lmao. even if you did bring stubby you are engineer, you have access to arguably the two best pinpoint accurate secondary options for crit hits. Honorable mention to breach cutter for not giving a shit where you hit the enemy but that’s not the point
>thunderhead
ok people actually do use this one but you already know what I’m gonna say about his secondary options. coil guns useless for this scenario but other than lead spray brt is accurate and bulldog is pinpoint
>1 primary per class excluding driller
>a majority of weapons
I should elaborate on the praetorian. Despite only having a little less health than an oppressor, praetorians have an accessible weak point from every angle of the bug and passive armor break from many weapons fully exposes the torso. Unlike oppressors they have no immunities and can be stunned on command. They aren’t nearly as tedious an enemy when you can straight brute force them and bypass the butt chasing merry go round that oppressors present
Praets are fine health wise but they should be more threatening.
Gunner is actually the medic.
Gunners should run:
Big bubble
Medic
Shield Link
The gunner should be the absolute last dwarf to go down and should be popping off shields aggressively to let the rest of the team keep the pressure up.
longer lasting shield is better
its not, if there's two dwarfs down spread further apart, you can only get one of them up safely. The bigger bubble gives you more room to work with.
thats pretty situational, you dont need a dwarf to fully covered by the shield anyway to revive them and the longer shield gives you enough time to just kill whatever's on them if theyre totally out of range
honestly its just a preference thing, i just said its better to get the (you)
and I will always appreciate other Gunners in a mission no matter the build.
If anybody in here hasn't tried 4 gunners or 4 morbidly obsese boys with turret whip you don't know what you're missing.
>4 engi mission
>I’m the only one who brought turret whip
shame about that friendly fire on turret whip blasts.
He's an ideal cover for any weaknesses the group has
I agree using them proactively is definitely a good idea but like scouts and flares there's not enough incentive for gunners to do this especially with how easy the game is.
Twins and regular dread are alright(although the later is rather basic) but I can’t stand hive guard.
>hope it doesn’t glitch out and actually calls the minions
>shoot minions
>shoot weak points
>shoot butt weakpoint
>repeat
It ends up just being a slower dread with more steps that shits out bombs when exposed. They should lean more into the minions to make it more interesting, make the hiveguard itself a nonfactor if need be
Yeah Hiveguard is kind of a bummer to fight. The minions is a nice touch but I agree, it's such a minor short-lived phase. Maybe make a new dread that is COMPLETELY focused on minions instead of HG's half-measure. Like tie a bunch of minor bugs into a Dread's actual healthbar or something.
I want a bulk detonator that mutated and shits out massive zerg swarms of mini detonators of various sizes.
Give us a proper hivemind fight, similar to deacons of the deep but make it not shit
how would that be different from just killing a swarm
Total Warhammer 3 nurglings making a superunit, or a boosted unit morphing from glyphid to glyphid moving into a new one when you kill it. Needing you to react on the fly to which form it adapts into and which husk it inhabits currently.
that could be neat
A hivemind could be cool.
Make them share player awareness, maybe work together with specialized bugs. Like shield ones up front, and ranged who hide behind, just give them better coordination than existing bug types.
>share player awareness
can you elaborate
Some bugs wander and don't act until they themselves spot or get shot at by the player. At least, bugs who spawn before a mission start tend to act like this. The effect of "psychic bugs" is probably lost when most home in on your location though, I suppose.
>new surface biome
>filled with craters, overground hives, and remains of giant space creatures
>same old glyphids and other creatures crawling about, just chilling before you start something
>but there's something else, the first bug you see with eyes
>they're front facing
Hiveguard needs to have a weaker HP phase to compensate for the extra armour and minions.
It's such an irritating bullet sponge, and a death sentence if it combines with point extraction on an EDD
>there needs to be more incentive for scouts to not hoard flares.
Flares are plentiful
homosexuals just dont use them
I can't even finish the tutorial, bros. Why is it so hard?
have you tried drinking
>fun option is secretly optimal
what the heck, I've just forged this helmet
I don't think I've ever seen someone wear it ingame
Full helms aren't too popular, because they completely nullify all your beard/mustache customization. And that's where 90% of your choices are.
It’s lost in a sea of samey beard matrixes, couple that with
and it’s no wonder. I have hundreds of hours in the game but I don’t have it for a single dwarf.
I use it with the Fourth Relic armor, but it is true full helms aren't as fun because there's less customization.
I use the version that lets you use beards.
what would it feel like to stick your peepee in a breeder? they look so squishy
This is now a Fatshark thread.
Darktide hype?
404
I'll hype Darktide as soon as they fix their bajilion other old games left to rot. Vermintide 1 is still awaiting the promised mod support.
>playing vt1 when vt2 exists
just say you have a computer from 2002 or something
>just say you have a computer from 2002 or something
are you moronic? do you have brain damage? fatshark leaves their games to rot, I play VT2 if I want to kill rats, or VT1 because Karak Azgaraz and Drachenfels are fantastic, but let me remind you that Winds of Magic is still a garbage fire left to burn and will keep its current state because they'll move on to their next cashgrab immediately.
>bearded manlets digging for crypto currency
Sheeple Cuck Plebbit.
>high ranking dwarf
>doesn't use their kit (flares/sentries/drills/shields)
why does this happen
Because they save edited to get their rank and were too stupid to make it something believable
Any major additions in the last year? Since that event with that industrial sabotage event with Omen and Ork looking weapon skins?
Most of my friends are morons and mostly play asshomosexuals and the only one friend that liked the game is a sociopath spastic kid that treats DRG as a first class competitive game and gets angry over the smallest thing that can go wrong in a mission. I hate the fact that randoms get dumber day by day and I can't keep playing...
grab a couple of Gankertards or the odd good pug to stick on your friend list
>v/tards
guess where I met the sociopath
that's a good point
New robots and secondary weapons, but not much else
Idea for a C4 overclock:
>Demolitionist's kit:
>Place up to 4 charges at once (detonation activates all of them)
>Max ammo greatly increased
>Significant reduction in blast damage and radius
Is the gunner railgun pistol just bad? or am I missing something.
it is good for crowdclear, while still being a precision weapon, on higher difficulties since it has infinite range
its kinda iffy without hellfire
it’s not bad it’s just not very useful. It’s exceedingly good at setting robots on fire, but he just has such strong crowd clear options for bugs. Special mention to pancake stack mole memes but he has good single target options that don’t require any extra hassle as well so it just feels meh
>neurotoxin autocannon
>triple chamber electric trail coilgun
>incendiary grenades
every bug is mine, nobody else gets to have fun
DRG and Sea of Thieves are both a ton of fun and only get hated on on here because no one has friends to play with.
>DRG
Correct
>Sea of Thieves
moron
What's wrong with SoT? I've had it on my wishlish for aeons now but can never be arsed to buy it
no real gameplay progression tree, no reward for interacting with other players so people just keep griefing to ragebait. I got it for free and I feel like I paid too much.
Take everything that makes DRG fun and completely invert it.
>Sea of Thieves
moron
DRG is a game designed for shitters like TF2. Anyone remotely good at FPS will get burned out in less than a week. The game is too fricking easy and has zero build variety but who cares because it's so heckin wholesome amirite reddit??
>PVPtard has entered the thread
>broooo just handicap yourself if you want the game to be difficult it's not GSG's fault the game is balanced around toddlers who have never played an FPS before
post your solo solo edd clears for every class
why would I buy a coop game just to play by myself? do you not see how stupid this line of thinking is?
Clearly you only play to hit skill ceilings and push your limits so why not play a coop game only solo where you can truly do that? At least that way when you want to shit post you can post your clears so people can’t have anything to say to you
>Clearly you only play to hit skill ceilings and push your limits
There is a difference between being an autistic speedrunner and just being good at the game. DRG is not fun to play singleplayer and was not designed for singleplayer. Playing with teammates is a core part of the experience.
>balanced around toddlers who have never played an FPS before
Specifically console players
is this playable as a solo?
always heard good shit about it.
what's the progression like? is it meaningful and fun to work towards, or mainly sidegrades?
Yes. It's pretty good solo. You have the option of a combat robot helper who will shoot and mine if you like; or you can play totally solo. So long as you can manage your own ammo you're fine.
No the game is not playable solo, just que with randoms
t. pussy who needs to be carried
If you're a greenbeard you probably want to play with other people just to make up for your lack of experience though.
so if solo isn't great, are pugs worth it? or is that also kinda dull.
Playing with randos is exactly like playing solo but with the fun and interesting potentiality of some 3rd worlder fricking up the run.
with friends or the odd talkative pug it is most definitely worth it
t. haz5 solo EDD moron who got fricked by the last escort mission this week, just couldn't do enough damage as a scout. I'm sorry, dotty.
Solo EDDs are fun I don't even know what you're trying to say here.
just adding to your argument that solo play is still fun and that I enjoy the challenge. it's definitely doable if you're good at the game.
Everything is always better with friends, but randos give a pretty decent approximation, the DRG community is comparatively chill
Lower hazard levels, really fun and failing a mission is still very rare.
4+ it becomes more of a crapshoot.
Its basically impossible to fail a mission on haz 3 unless your entire team commits ritual suicide while you're taking a piss.
I'd argue anything below Haz 4 isn't even the real game. Too few bugs and they're noticeably weaker than it seems like they should be.
The only reason I’ve played as much as I have is the true end game is carrying random haz5 lobbies. Playing with a good team consistently gets boring. There’s never any weird shit that happens that requires problem solving or clutching
This season would've been a lot better if every single weapon wasn't actual dogshit outside of very specific builds
It would’ve been a lot better if it wasn’t robots
>biome specific bug reworks never ever
alright thanks for the replies anons. ill give it a try solo, then once i got the hang of things frick around in pugs.
Since the thread is dying, shoot an invite to me at steam ID sk0gs if you want to coop some tonight. I don't mind practicing or dying.
