>unreal engine already runs like shit
>adding extra layers of redundant processing to consume resources for no gain
shiggy diggy
Good job cropping the date since these "denuvo prevent modding" things were debunks 5 fricking years ago as no mods have ever been prevented by it
>August 23,2023
They inserting it into unreal 5 itself since a lot of denuvo cracks were just bypassing it. Can't bypass it now without bricking your game.
>Denuvo affects mods
We still trying to spread this lie even after many highly modded games have denuvo?
>many highly modded games have denuvo
Can't think of one
Protip: changing some textures isn't "highly modding" games
Why make engine specific versions of Denuvo if it already does its job agnostically?
This isn't Denuvo DRM, this is basically "Denuvo File Protection". It's a whole new type of system that's meant to keep files from being decrypted (As UE4/5 encryption is borderline non-existent, tools have cracked it on day 1 of every engine version launch), function as an anti-cheat and stop data mining as well as prevent Engine Unlockers like UUU which give you console access and full camera control
Idc them are not real games anyway
It's not just Unreal, this was simultaneously announced alongside a new engine agnostic Integrity Verification tool to ensure editing of game memory is impossible.
The integrity verification tool developer information release is ominous. It can verify at runtime as well as realtime, one of the reshade devs went over it and said even something as simple as that will be impossible to use with Denuvo IV present. Can't even inject CAS now if this gets popular.
Still not buying, especially when for many of the pozzed nu games you would have to pay me to play them.
Not buying what?
The games. Well, unless they are DRM free on GoG or some other site. But even then, game has to be good and company not too pozzed.
What, did you think I would buy denuvo license and software or something?
most of the time these days if i can't immediately get the game on GOG i just don't even bother. i might try a repack or some shit if it's particularly high profile but i haven't needed to do that for years at this point. i imagine the only games this will affect are shit AAA games i have no intention of fricking with anyway
Thank god it doesn't affect us high end pc users. Now my 4090TI will only run like a 4080.
>my 4090ti
Do you also have an R9 8950X?
Nah, that isn't supposed to launch till 5090
It would be an issue 15 years ago when the modding scene actually changed the games from gameplay improvements to turning them into completely different games.
Today's modding is just fetish shit.
This looks like a waste of money for most devs and games. Let's see how many suits will get convinced by hollow promises of stable sales.
The only way this gets used is if it's basically bundled free with Denuvo itself. Because otherwise who the frick is going to pay it's very likely insane price just to stop people from ripping files and using engine unlockers?
I just had to check if Stalker 2 will have Denuvo, thankfully there is still some hope.
No need to worry because Stalker 2 is never coming out anyway.
>2 hours ago updated their fact sheet to Q1 2024
I fricking hate Sony as i hate the morons who still dismiss that Denuvo wasn't made by them.
https://irdeto.com/news/denuvo-by-irdeto-unveils-new-features-for-enhanced-gaming-security-at-gamescom
Doesn't seem to be anything that might hamper modding except maybe
>The Integrity Verification feature ensures attackers are unable to alter the protected game code before startup or during gameplay, fortifying gaming studios against potential tampering threats
But that would hamper modding nearly entirely
Modding literally requires changing the actual code of a game which pretty fricks over 99 percent of any mod worth a shit
Someone buy enough Microsoft share then bring it up in the next shareholder meeting. Call out phill and todd not being protective to the IP enough if they refuse to implement it in Bethesda games.
Yes moron I'm sure this Unreal Engine protection system is coming to a studio that doesn't use Unreal Engine real soon
Denuvo will kill modern gaming, i'm calling it, unless the companies will make new house engines.
