Did I completely miss this game coming out? Did Ganker talk about Control in 2019? It's fricking great.

it's alright. pretty repetitive from what i remember. not bad but wouldn't call great either
The random “kill x number of y enemies” missions killed my run about 4/5 of the way through if I had to guess. I was actually loving it until it became an absolute slog to level up and keep pace. The actual side missions dealing with the artifacts were really fun though.
Setting is the best part about it, the story is just kind of there and the gameplay is serviceable if nothing else. Enjoyable, but a lot of wasted potential too.
>Enjoyable, but a lot of wasted potential too.
every Remedy game after Max Payne 2
They were too busy sulking about the shape of the woman's jaw.
Their loss... pelting people in the face with janitor carts and propane tanks is brilliant in it.
>woman
I like The X-Files and shooters, would I like this game?
I'd say yes, the in-universe characters take all the supernatural shit totally serious and joke about it because shit just exist and its proven. Imagine X-Files with Mulder and Scully being Agents of FBC and Mulder would totally be their best agent and Prime Candidate. Mulder would be Pope and protégé of Darling.
It's more SCP than X-Files.
And you don't shoot a lot because lifting vending machines off the wall and throwing them with extreme prejudice at mobs is way more fun
yes
Half of it was threads complaining about Jesse's face though
Wow, someone really put a lot of time and effort into this Saints Row 4 mod.
I know you're trolling but yeah in terms of gameplay it's SR4 but with ray-tracing.
don't see why it's a bad thing though.
This would be so much better if it wasn't trying to look realistic. As it is it, the flying and ground pound just look fricking moronic.
Interesting story with basic b***h third person shooter gameplay
it was fun once you got ground pound and other powers. I wish the rare Hiss like that invisible banshee thing would spawn in random encounters
>I wish the rare Hiss like that invisible banshee thing would spawn in random encounters
I'm pretty sure it does, it's just rare, probably because it's too OP to use Seize on it so it's on your side, like the big ball that heals you
>basic b***h third person shooter gameplay
I don't really think it feels that way once you get flight powers.
It did real well and basically rescued Remedy as a studio. But when it came out they were in something of a funk. So it didn't have a ton of fanfare or hype. Long tail ass though. It also had the benefit of being one of the first games to use Ray Tracing pretty well. So it popped up a lot in technical discussions.
>Did Ganker talk about Control in 2019?
nope
>Did Ganker talk about Control in 2019
Why do you homosexual children start threads like this? Yes people talked about a game when it game out. Stop broadcasting that it's your first afternoon using the website
>Control in 2019
Yes. Many threads about her jaw.
Then Ganker talked about the game a bit when it came out on steam.
>It's fricking great
>Remedy game
>great
the best part was fighting the alien colossus in the fridge
Shoom is bullshit and you know it
>Challenge Deadline level
>Need to kill ONE ENEMY EVERY THREE SECOND OR YOU DIE
>If you don't kill the whole wave the next one won't spawn
>You either get one grunt with a tactical AI who fricks off down the stairs and stays hidden or one of those tanks armored guys that are literally impossible to take down in less than ten seconds even with the best mods around and a fully upgraded Launch power
>Even if you do all that the FRICKING GAME DOCKS TEN SECONDS OFF YOUR TIMER BEFORE SPAWNING ANYONE ELSE
Something about Remedy games always bother me, like they're very close to being great games bogged down by some weird design choices. Like some arbitrary inclusions of upgrade trees and shit.
Ironically I've enjoyed the gameplay of Alan Wake more than the rest of their games despite that being the biggest critique of the game for most people. It kept it simple but had very satisfying base controls and response
It's usually pretty generic. Nothing really stands out. But have to admit I kinda liked alan wake 2 even though it's not really a genre that I'd usually like.
Played it free from the epic store.
It was pretty bad F A M
Slow, boring traversal, sluggish combat, repetitive indoor design, pointless upgrade trees, writing that varied wildly from decent to LolquirkyReddit.
It's too bad, I wanted to like it and it had some real early-SCP energy in the setting, but it was far less than the sum of its parts.
Ganker was talking about it constantly. It put me off from buying the game. Still got it for free when it was on EGS
slap
Can i say something about AW2 in this thread since i just finished it and i feel the need to put it out there op?
go on.
I finished it 10 minutes ago. It's interesting and it does warrant a playthrough if you intend to play Control or AW1. I know people shitpost here and rattle their bells about i don't know what blackrock funding and shit and i usually ignore it but i genuinely think that it is a spit in the eye of poor Wake when conquers the Dark place in 5 minutes going"nu-huh this is fiction, thats not true, let me out, bye. A more acceptable thing solution would be either Tor and Odin being able to help her out since that makes sense them being family and superpowered or the FBC girl helping her out since they are qualified in doing this
New Game + ending shows that Saga Wake and Casey are trapped in the Dark place in a spiral not in a loop
There's a new game +? What does it change? Do words of power carry over? Is Saga's inventory going to be cluttered with unremovable charms and the lesser shotgun?
it’s not out yet but the ending leaked on youtube briefly
the actual meta explanation is that Alan Wake harnessed the POC Mary Sue trope (which nowadays can be forced on any genre) to turn Saga into his own personal overpowered saviour but he forgot the white man always has to pay in the end. luckily for him trilogies are mandatory so the hero's first death is always undone.
You know what? I like that one. Let me go inside the writers room and add that to the scene. Thanks, this makes me feel better.
Before reading this other post i was thinking about it for a second and you know what? I couldn't have cared less if it was a girl, man or a jumbo jet...it still doesn't make sense for anybody to get out that quick. Even Ahti would have been a better trope
No.
Never forget what they took from us:
If not for my repeated disgruntlement about the racebending of a woman with a very clear Swedish name and relations, Alan Wake 2 would be one of my favorite games in years. It does SO many things right and has so much passion put into it.
But Saga should not be a Black person. And because she is, I'm not sure it'll even be on my top ten this year. It permeates everything. When you run into Tor and Odin it should have been a great moment. But instead, when they say "I'm your grandfather and he's your <swedish word for uncle>" I'm just sucked out of the experience. What do you MEAN you're related to her by blood? Have you SEEN this b***h's melanin? Unbelievable.
>Have you SEEN this b***h's melanin?
she's incredibly light skinned so it wasn't really that far fetched.
darker than that in-game.
She's light enough to very easily be justified as coming from mixed race parents.
It's okay. A low 7/10. The setting is very cool, I like Ahti the janitor, and the matchbox maze is a visually interesting setpiece. The gameplay is basic and doesn't change at all once you get the hover a few hours in, and you're going to approach every single combat encounter the exact same way.
Alan Wake - for the time - was far superior, and Quantum Break is just more interesting on every level. Alan Wake 2 is a HUGE step up from Control in literally every way, as well. Control got a weirdly huge amount of praise. Was it just a slow year for games, was it the female protag, or was it SCP fans? Not sure. But it's an overrated game, and one of Remedy's worst.
How can Remedy nail the surreal atmosphere every time but frick up the gameplay, also every time.
I haven't played AW2 yet, how is it gameplay wise?
Action gameplay is flashlight zombies and shoot them dead. Atmosphere gameplay is probably their best yet. Atmospheric story part being majority of the game.
Been a lot of Control threads lately, makes me kinda want to play it again. It's not great but it's a fun game, cool atmosphere, decent story and it looks fantastic.
fine game. I'm in that disillusioned with Ganker state again, so I won't bother to elaborate on my problems with the game by highlighting what they should focus on and change for the sequel.
in other news. I think Alan Wake 2 is probably their most realized game.
Gonna start playing it tomorrow. I finished AW1 and people say you need to play Control to enjoy AW2 so I'm going to go through that since I already owned it but never played it.
Are the DLC's worth playing? The season pass is on sale.
The Foundation is really good, it's about half as long as the base game.
It goes into a lot about when the FBC first found the oldest house and adds plenty to the word building.
AWE on the other hand is just bad horror elements and dull puzzles; on top of that the Alan Wake story doesn't advance at all and is just cheep bait.
>control was 40.9 years ago
I absolutely loved it.
It's quite literally the only game in the last 10 years that has visually impressed me, but I'm a sucker for destructible environments.
The "fetch quests" however sucks and the bosses are lackluster.
Almost feels bad for not not paying for it since I got it for free back when I got my RTX 2070 Super.
The DLC for it is the only thing I've bought on the EGS.
most shilled game on Ganker since release. Every few days for years someone makes a thread just like this one.
>someone makes threads about a video game on the video game board
I can't tell what's worse, stupid shit getting posted this much or the fact that you probably unironically believe it. All I know is you're a fricking newbie and trying too hard to fit in but I feel like that's 90% of posters these days.
it's boring as hell to play
