No, they're busy researching astroturfing methods that will turn the game into another "perfect goty masterpiece that mindbroke the haters"
Bioware somehow died and faded into irrelevancy within the last ten years. How?
By being shit.
By not releasing anything for the last ten years?
you can tell a big shift happened between ME1 and 2, even dragon age 1 and 2 are so different in all aspects, I always thought they got high on being liked by tumblr wholock girls type back then it broke their brains trying to pander to them or something
That's when EA bought them. ME1 is a love letter to star trek type scifi. There's different completely alien cultures you get to explore and interact with. It's not super hard scifi, but there's a lot of thought put in to the discovery of the "mass effect" from element zero. The in-game codex is actually a pretty good read for scifi fans.
EA-era of button-awesome begins and all of that is thrown out. Now you need a lot of combat and titillating character drama. The guns no longer shoot near light-speed metal shavings and have to be reloaded because that's what the CoD audience wants.
>Now you need a lot of combat and titillating character drama. The guns no longer shoot near light-speed metal shavings and have to be reloaded because that's what the CoD audience wants.
I replayed both games recently with the new collection and going from ME1 to ME2 was so jarring. It is NOT the "best combat in the franchise" that people used to shill back in the day. It's so simple.
>ME1 is a love letter to star trek type scifi
Imagine actually thinking that.
Wasn't the buggy thing in Star Trek: Nemesis? The one movie that actually buried all Star Trek movies? And one that is among the most hated movies of all Trek, before JJ got his grubby little hands on it?
How about all the times you go in guns blazing in ME1? Super Star Trek like, for sure.
Fricking idiot.
The only things Star Trek and Mass Effect have in common is that they safely fit in the space opera genre, and that each iteration is worse than the last.
ME is more B5 and farscape than star trek.
Don't confuse them with facts anon.
i'm watching B5 for the first time right now. mass effect is alternate universe babylon 5 lol. it's pretty cool, shame bioware kinda died tho
>i'm watching B5 for the first time right now
Enjoying it? I loved the show, been years since I watched it but my fondness hasn’t faded
hell yea. few episodes into season 4 they just finished the great war arc. i wonder how the earth stuff is gonna go
i read they thought it was gonna get canceled after s4 so they wrapped up a bunch of stuff just in case. i'm wondering what they're gonna do for another 38 episodes.
Besides MA:A what have they released within the last decade? DA:I was 10 years ago so that's another one.
Anthem.
And a botched remaster.
no one can becomes king forever anon, a good studio usually lasts for 10 years before becoming irrelevant or too greedy for their own good
Don't act dumb. Everyone saw the progression.
>Gay McGay
Snowball effect of ME3 ending being garbage, Inquisition being rushed with tons of mainstream pandering rather than having its own identity, and then Andromeda being widely recognized as dogshit. Follow all that up with Anthem. Failure after failure after failure.
Bingo
EA buyout changed them into yet another empty studio where all the talent left and EA meddling made sure they never even had a chance of making a good game again. ME2 is alright but you could already see the drastic shift to them turning into a generic husk of their former selves, and it's been downhill since. Andromeda and Anthem ruined any apologist loyalty to them to boot so they have absolutely nothing left, and they barely make games anymore. ME is forever tainted by 3, so when the Legendary Edition came out, it just reminded everyone that the ending sucks ass, and they changed random shit to make people mad.
Dreadwolf is STILL nothing but vaporware, and Anthem came out in fricking 2019. What the frick have they been doing?
>what the frick have they been doing?
Probably trying to learn2code
>Bioware somehow died and faded into irrelevancy within the last ten years. How?
~
They were bought by EA, what did you expect?
EA gave them like an infinite budget for Anthem (it was spent on electrified dildos for dangerhairs).
After Anthem EA will no longer give them an infinite budget.
inquisition was one of the worst games I have ever played
going by the leaks from last year, seems they want to emulate soulsslop combat
it's gonna suck
As reports have it, it's more like Andromeda with Swords.
Or Anthem with Dragons.
Bioware themselves called it that, internally.
And it was GOTY 2014 just like BG3
wtf bioware still exists?
At this point I think they are doing their best to take as long as possible because they know they will all be out of a job once it comes out
They're out of a job, while also working on it
https://blog.bioware.com/2023/08/23/an-update-on-the-state-of-bioware/
This is the last BioWare game. Good riddance. The studio hasn't done anything worthwhile after ME1 and the EA acquisition.
I have zero faith it won’t be absolute shit. Even worse that it’s a sequel to inquisition possibly the worst one in the series
It's better than DA:O.
Totally.
>w-w-we did the same propaganda game in 2014... and we only get some miserable goty? we were the precursors...
Every Dragon Age game after Origins is fanfic tier trash for women and gays. Dreadwolf is being made by a completely new people. None of the creators of Dragon Age are working on Dreadwolf. Even Dadid Gayder left Bioware.
This.
Nothing ever felt the same.
Even Dragon Age 2 felt gormlessly different from its predecessor.
And I'm not talking about how it deviated from the original's game design, but rather something ephemeral which was present in the original was missing from the sequel. Something precious to the creative process but difficult to articulate.
Whatever it was, the absence of it was evident in every facet of the DA2, and then became hideously more exaggerated with Inquisition.
I expect Dreadwolf will follow this trend.
I think they went from dark fantasy to normie fantasy thats why the games are so different.
It's the atmosphere. Origins had a very bleak atmosphere that was prevalent in all the parts of the game. Even if it wasn't really that dark and had its fair share of comedy, there was always a melancholic vibe to the game. Just look at the music and the camp scenes to understand it. They gave the game a very memorable feel.
DA2 has some of it but they were going for a different sort of atmosphere. It has it high points but the troubled nature of it's production shows that they couldn't really succeed at bringing it to life. Inquisition is the worst because it's not there at all. Even if the game tries to pretend that there's an apocalyptic threat about to destroy the world, you never get that feeling since everything is so bright and positive. There are no stakes and the story falls apart after the first area.
>Even Dadid Gayder left Bioware
tbf that’s actually a good thing
Given how basic and tacky Balding Pozzhole 3 actually is, I'm assuming they're kicking back and doing shit to out-pozz the current pozzmasters.
Same shit, different day, you're all fricking gay.
Whenever it gets released it's going to be an astroturfed pozzfest of a critical success regardless.
Finished playing me trilogy and honestly, its way better than da trilogy. ME3 absolutely shat the bad in the last 20 minutes, but other than that all 3 are absolutely top tier games, while i cant force myself to replay neither da 2 or 3
>ME3 absolutely shat the bad in the first 20 minutes
They literally even lost Swtor now, if this bombs they will be executed
Are you talking about the mmo or the 'remake'?
he's talking about the MMO, Broadsword is supporting the game now
>ea doesnt trust them enough to run a half dead mmo
how is bioware still alive? ea killed so many good studios for less, yet this one is kept around for some reason
The name’s that strong for know nothings.
>half dead mmo
it made more money than anything else EA shits except FIFA and The Sims. Bioware is done once the new DA launches, be it successful or not
no one cares about dragons age or BioWare anymore and this one is being made by a literal troon so it will flop massively
Development hell. Funny how everyone hated ME3 when it came out but it was a golden age title compared to modern Bioware.
Inquisition was so bad.
Dreadwolf? More like Dreadful
BAHAHAHAHAHAH
game doesn't exist, it's a grift to get ESGbux
There is literally ZERO chance this will even be close to being as good as BG3
Hate Larian all you want but they successfully made a bioware type game with BG3 that modern Bioware could never hope to emulate.
Funny enough BG3 reminded me a lot of Dragon age origins which was the last good bioware game.
Who actually bought Anthem? I don’t know a single person who played it, though it supposedly sold over five million.
It sold ~3.5 million copies at launch, but it needed ~5 million copies sold at launch, just to break even. Since then, it did sell another 1.5 million copies, but for as low as $0.99. So the RoI is negligible. Even at an average selling price of $10, is made $15m, when it needed to make 4x that, just to break even. While the idea was to invest in Anthem, to relaunch the game, and make up the loss there, the prototype team that was assembled took 2 years with the prototype, and by then, the studio was already trying to get Dread Wolf into shape. Seeing as how Bioware wasn't large enough at the time, and is even smaller now, it would be impossible to actually develop both games, at the same time, especially since EA could just cut their loss with Anthem, and move on to the next one.
There was a full subreddit of biodrones coping about it. I think they might have even locked it at some point
Delays were in effect even before BG3 and even more so now. An alpha based on God of War, staff turnovers, and going to be mismanaged 'Bioware Magic' crunch without the talent.
Question is will it be worse than Andromeda.
Even Tumblr and Twitter homosexuals forgot about this game.
I really like the world of thedas and the lore of how darkspawn came to be and the stuff about the maker.Shame that they threw away everything.
I recently learned Orsino wasnt suppose to be a boss and now I hate 2 even more
He wasn't supposed to be a boss if you went with the mages, because that would be stupid. But apparently they wanted more boss fights and he was there already.
I still think that 2 has a few gems here and there but, even if a competently done version wouldn't have saved the game, I can't help but wonder how a non rushed version if the game would look like.
Eh I doubt they could salvage it
Mark darah is working on this, maybe there is still hope
Bioware doesn’t exist. It hasn’t for a long time.
I've heard nothing but horror stories via rumors and friends. I wish those poor men and women the best. I never liked Bioware games but I don't believe in making people suffer needlessly.
Let's just pray Bioware goes under and we never see it. Origins did not deserve this.
This is actually their last chance.
That’s what you said about Anthem.
Not really anthem was fresh after winning goty with shitquisition.
It's still funny how the public perception of Inquisition shifted over the years. While several saw the flaws from the very beginning, a lot of people were caught up in the hype and good publicity from the game and coped that it was a masterpiece, but over time the perception corrected itself since there was nothing keeping the illusion in place and Andromeda and Anthem just highlighted it's flaws.
Now even the blindest biowaregay can't help that admit that the game is at least heavily flawed in everything from gameplay, to characters and plot.
No it wasn’t. It was long after DA3 being garbage and after Andromeda’s huge flop.
Anyone who’ll ever by this is going to do so regardless of how it looks, which in all fairness is probably a horrifyingly larger number then anyone realises but the question is whether they will be enough to keep BioWare open for one more shitshow or not
hopefully they don't show the elf's face on the left
dragon age dead name will be dead on arrival. troony game made by insane feminists
Hopefully. I mean, they have been drifting away from origins in favor of action for years thinking there was no interest on CRPGs. BG3 not only proved them wrong but it even crushed Todd´s Starfield like it was nothing, NOTHING! The next Skyrim mogged beyond repair by a CRPG.
If only they had stayed true to themselves they could have capitalized on that success and got back on top but alas they are going the completely opposite way and even almost went full MMORPG at some point in development. They fricked up.
If you ask me Owlcat´s Pathfinder WoTR is still the superior CRPG but their rouge trader´s performance also kind of demonstrates that moving forward BG3 is going to be regarded as the new standard for those kind of games. People want it all, the mechanics, the choice and the presentation and lacking on any one department will result in failure.
You can really see EA's puppetstrings here.
Always chasing the hottest new trend. Always trying to be compliant with focus-groups.
Never creating something out of passion. Never willing to trailblaze, innovate, or set a trend of their own.
Based.Babylon 5 is one of the best scifi shows ever made.
I’ve the same boxset
I don't think even Ganker is ready for how woke this game is going to be
Let’s hear your predictions.
Main character will forced to be trans. It'll be revealed mid game and the rest of the game will be entirely based around it
It's been in a development hell for years.
>There's an alternate universe where the Company didn't get sold to EA and is still putting out good work
Corporate buy outs are shitty. Why aren't there protections to stop them. I want EA to stop killing my favorite studios.
moron
>troony Age Deadname
Is even a single fricking soul looking forward to this bastardized trainwreck?
Wait until a couple week before release.
Betcha that Ganker will be inundated by a sudden flood of avid Dragon age: Dreadwolf ~~*fans*~~.
Yeah, just like Rebirth.
how many times has this game been scrapped and restarted now
Heh, remember this?
Feels like something from the differen era
Still wish the game itself had a more similar aesthetic, at least regarding attire
I remember Dragon Age Origins and thinking that was so cool. That might have been the last Bioware game I actually liked.
They may ride on BG3's success.
No see, for that to happen it would need to be as good as BG3 or better. Worse won't "ride" anything.
The problem is more complex I think, because DA2 and DAI are more like light-RPG.
I seriously can’t understand who could still be hyped for a bioware game. They’ve done nothing but put out disappointing games since mass effect 2.
>Souls-like is super popular and trending
>BW : oh wow lets do it like that
>Turn-BASED CRPG is now super popular and trending
>BW : wtf we shouldve made our game like
im 100% sure that EA plays a big part in this decision but can these fricks stop trend chasing and stick to what works in your franchise, jeez
you missed the leaked gow version
yeah i mustve missed it but my point still stands, these creatively bankrupt fricks would do well to have a little consistency, hell I'd take DAI gameplay and just tweak it out at this point
>Larian stole the Dragon Age fanbase and is now coming for the Mass Effect fans
I'd love to play a space-themed CRPG by them. Hope they do that.
hopefully they wont ever use a shitty system like dnd, dos 2 had way better battle system
Why do people still bother talking about this empty shell of a company?
Weird how all these developers suddenly needs to release their games this year. They have to participate in these conferences, but they have nothing to show off. Seems like the money is lighter and they are getting a shorter lease. Either deliver or chaos will come.
Obsidians' Awowed was hilarious because of the dude trying to say positive things about the game, while ending up talking how lacking it is.
Kingdom Come, Fable, Dreadwolf, Awowed? Three under Microsoft, one under EA. I only have high hopes for KCD honestly.
Didn't face any punishment for my last insider posting, but I worked adjacent to BioWare at EA on this game as a tester and I saw a lot of it in 2022.
>It's a he/him, she/her, they/them game
>Solas got the Illusive Man ME3 treatment. He's back but BioWare has to make him appear archetypally evil just to make brainlets comprehend who the bad guy is
>It's a bit like DA2 where the scope is smaller than DAI, probably because the leadership team's only experience was the Trespasser DLC, so expect one bustling city and some odd wilderness locations here and there.
>They have been putting major pieces of the full game together since 2022. I've seen quests and conversation scenes that are fully playable.
I think it's another MEA situation where the game is hitting a fake alpha stage pretty late, and the developers are not equipped to manage the production crunch or be transparent with EA about how done the game is. They're more likely deluding themselves into "yes-man" thinking, and "It's good enough", which for me as a fan was a problem ever since Mass Effect 3, where the "it's good enough" feeling pervaded the whole thing. I do think EA's direct management to BioWare's leadership are punking them a lot though, and in the past that caused leadership to kowtow. Gary McKay is a bit harsher though, but the downside is that the people in charge of the game are a bit on edge with him, and after those layoffs a while ago I think there's probably real suspense between the project management and the studio leadership.
oh yer gettin punished now boy, I AM CALLING THE CYBER POLICE.
how do leakers even get punished legally? how the hell would they get caught? are the cyber police actually real?!
you're bullshitting, we already know we're going to at least 3 new cities in the game
