Did we just leave the golden age of RTS games? Only 25 released so far this decade. What was everyone's favorite from the 90s-10s?

>just leave
It ended with CoH 1
Idk anon, Wargame 2 was pretty fun. I miss the 10v10s
Just because fun games have been released doesnt mean it was a golden age.

A lot of great games were released, I'd say it was a golden age, I doubt we'll see many releases going forward
Warhammer Total War and Great Battles of History Medieval
No i mean the middle pics on the 1st and 2nd row of the image (to the left of the Stronghold - 1st row top right image and AoM 2nd row right side image)
For me it's Act of War
I'm hoping for modders to do updated textures and models. Makes me wonder just how many of the games in the OP and from that era are moddable
Top middle could be any browser "rts" game, might be
2nd row middle is called Medieval Lords:Build, Defend, Expand
https://www.mobygames.com/game/15696/medieval-lords-build-defend-expand/
kek top middle is a browser game literally named "Golden Age"
https://worthplaying.com/article/2011/5/2/news/81164-golden-age-announced-screens/
Did OP use an AI to make that collage?
OP here, I just grabbed a collage that looked good, I only added the numbers in paint
What are the games on the left side of Stronghold and Age of Mythology?
There are at least 30 rts coming out this year
list them
AoM looks so much better when zoomed out like that city shot.
C&C Generals series
Dark Reign
All others a shit
only good RBT game ever was C&C Generals
RTS*
KKND and it's not even close
Golden age of RTS games ended when they started to focus on e-sport shit instead of good single player campaign aka since Starcraft 2 released.
Were past golden, silver and bronze ages actually. Now it's time of endless remasters and spiritual successors. Maybe some will even end up being palatable.
This, but it's not so bad to be honest. I love the modern indie-game scene, and we still have all the old classics
Minus Warcraft 3 thanks to Reforged
Just pirate it
The classics were all indie/AA games when they came out
Lol, no they weren't. Westwood, Blizzard etc were all respectable companies. Indie doesn't mean "no publisher", with that definition CDPR and Steam are indies
>Westwood
They were a AA developer until EA bought them out in 98
>Blizzard
They were a AA developer until after the success of Starcraft
I thought 'Impossible Creatures' was good.
Great single player where you shoot animals to slowly create your unit repertoire. Neat steampunk vibe before it was in vogue.
What was really good about it though is that every army being player made was pretty balanced yet you could have vastly different strategies depending on your make up. The multiplayer worked pretty well as a result.
Making meme animals like whale scorpions was fun too.
That's a pretty large timespan, but the strategy games I enjoyed the most during that time was:
Warcraft 2 & 3
Starcraft + Brood war
Red alert 1 & 2
Total Annihilation (completely dunked on by Supreme commander though)
Command & Conquer Generals
Dawn of War 1 + expansions (up until the Sisters of battle-expansion at least, which was sub-par)
Company of heroes 1 + the expansion
Supreme Commander
Act of war
Some of these I mainly enjoyed for the single-player (Warcraft 2-3, Starcraft + Brood war), some I enjoyed mainly for the lan-games (Act of war, Generals, CoH, TA) and the rest are a mix
My favourite were
the Myth series
Sacrifice
C&C gen
Warcraft series
Starcraft series
MTW2
some games i grew out of liking, like warcraft 2 is crap, Starcraft was fun mp but i don't think its good either. DoW i ended up not liking it at all.
Then theres a long list of games i played that are nit even worth mentioning, obviously since i can't even recall their names or if i actually played them
oh yeah forgot to say Warcraft 3 fun mp but ultimately pure crap
What's the city builder looking medieval game in the middle? I feel as if I played it, I think it had some Ned Stark looking dude on the cover and I think it had a system where you could set up fields in geometric shapes of varying sizes, something that didn't show up in many games since then.
Already answered here
Medieval Lords
Oh shit you're right, thanks for the spoonfeeding
Looks pretty nice
Everyone realized that clicking really fast is not fun gameplay so the genre diverged into 4x, MOBA, and GSGs, which are all superior genres.
Whats the best RBT from the 00s?
The one that best embodies what RBT means: Really Bit breasts
>just leave
Pretty sure it ended around 2005.
For me it was all of the Age of Empires and Empire Earth 2. When I first got the box for EE2 , my computer at the time couldn't handle the graphics so there was some time until I could actually play it until my dad ordered a new graphics card. I was in 4th or 5th grade and in the meantime I brought the instruction booklet to school and read it constantly during silent reading time, on the bus and even in the lunchline I remember a couple of times.
Frozenheim any good?
