And the last fight in DP was going to be the turret section style fight, so it would have been just as lame.
General scales was never a smart guy, that homie originally got hit by lighting and had to use his tech belt to teleport away.

Was Star Fox Adventures any good?
It's pretty fun, and relaxing.
It was an absolutely serviceable Zelda-like game that still greatly outshines Zelda clones from other third parties from the N64 and Gamecube eras even though it was "unfinished." It was impressive graphically (and still holds up very well), has a great soundtrack, and does some interesting things here and there with puzzles. It was sadly held back by a good deal of backtracking and, "I have multiple McGuffins to collect but I have to wait for the story to funnel me to whichever one I'm SUPPOSED to go to next" rather than something a little more structured/consistent like how Zelda does it.
The hatred for not being "true Star Fox" was massively overblown, and now that we've seen a large chunk of what the original Dinosaur Planet was supposed to be from the leaks, a lot less ended up changing than a lot of people thought. Most of the story-related grievances (like the twist final boss and Krystal being removed for a large part) existed in the N64 prototype.
