Of course I did
found it boring
i booted it up last night after not touching it for years. I don't remember why I dropped this its such a blast. Maybe if it was as pretty as the 2d castlevanias it'd hold my zoom zoom attention better....
>Maybe if it was as pretty as the 2d castlevanias
It feels like the standard brightness is all wrong and it actually looks a lot better with it set to 1 or 2.
Still doesn't fix stuff like those godawful cave textures, though, that look like the blurriest, Unreal Engine-iest shit you can imagine.
Yes, loved it, now waiting for a reason to replay. Unfortunately, the rogue-lite modus wasn't doing it for me.
yes. I only wish I could play as the big tiddy nun with jiggle physics in a secret h-style run, with every single enemy and boss having animations
Wasn't there an upcoming Simon's Quest mode with her datamined that also featured the cut water boss?
I sure hope so, this is the first time I've heard of it
Is it this?
just play that one metroidvania h-game with the not-Shanoa protag, I can't remember the name of it unfortunately but it had some soulslike mechanics as well
Yes. It was Castlevania done right. Shall mean exploration was extremely addictive. But the game was full of bugs and glitches too. Worth playing through once and then forget.
Is co-op out of beta yet?
I did and loved every second of it. I hadn’t touched a metrovania in years, then I stumble across this and blashemous at the same time. That was some amazingly fun gaming moments a couple years ago.
yeah
it alright
Yes. It is more or less good, but it lacks Castlevania atmosphere - it is more like new castlevanias like Aria and others rather than SotN or HoD. It's too bright and lighthearted. People had expected SotN 2.0 before changing to 3d.
>it is more like new castlevanias like Aria and others
>new
>tfw OoE is older than what SotN was when the former released
yeah it was alright. i liked Curse of the moon more though
The music feels off to me and I can't explain it.
Yes. Playing it right now, actually.
I made a fire Miriam and an ice Miriam, and then the game gave me the valkyrie dress that can't be painted which ruined the motif.
I hear you. some tracks are great, others are pretty forgettable, and yet others feel straight out of Ys. It's not bad but it's not Castlevania, but I guess that's an unfair comparison.
Cute Miriams
Thanks.
Wish I could save color schemes along with weapon sets on the Shortcuts.
Yeah it's a bummer.
Does it run for low-end pc's?
Not OP: I have a potato masquerading as a graphic card and it still runs well
yes. had to jump over to pc due to immediate crashing on Deck upon beating the first boss. killed that b***h 4 times before giving up
Yeah and it was really good.
I hope the next game will look as good as Dread did.
Dread water effect destroyed Gotham Knight whole graphic.
I did, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Sadly it has a kind of cheap presentation due to it being crowdfunded but if Konami won't give me Castlevania then I'll take what I can get.
I'm playing through Dread right now, I'm blown away with how good it looks. I'm not crazy about how the game zigzags you through locations and the music sucks but if the movement and visuals are still good for the sequel I'll be happy.
>I'm not crazy about how the game zigzags you through locations and the music sucks
Love Dread, but I also have the same complaints. RotN always looked fine to me, but making it Dread good would be amazing.
>On my PS4
Y e s
I 100%'d it
Decent game but it gets real fricking easy by the end when you have 6MP/sec regen.
>Equip Skull Necklace
>Equip Words of Wisdom
>Tiz Rozain in a circle costs 20MP and clears every screen
>Riga Storӕma inflicts ten gazillion damage due to multi-hitting
Grinding to upgrade shards was such a b***h. How high was your luck? Mine capped at I think 125.
By the end? You can break the game from the beginning with the not!VorpalBlade and bats.
I finished it. It was fun to collect items/shards since it doesn't needs extreme grind like in most Castlevania games. The issues are the shoddy animations along with some bugs. The game itself looks very plastic.
I started it, but I didn't finish it
more like KINOstained

>Miriam is almost 30
Cake cute!
We need more hag magical girls, just like the Sailor Moon doujin I read, uooohhh!!!
Hopefully RotN2 has better costume options.
It's baffling that there aren't any Costume Slots. You basically lose Miriam's "iconic" tiara as soon as the game starts and you get the pirate hat with +5 luck.
>get Invert shard
>half of the bosses and super enemies afterwards are incapable of properly dealing with you being on the ceiling
>Valefar has spikes on the ceiling that are supposed to prevent this
>in order to get to him in the first place you need an armor that negates environmental damage like that
The second half was a huge mess that probably got jumbled around a couple of times.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I still don't know if these fairy girls say "frick you" when you attack them or not.
Half of the enemy noises sound like shitposts.
>Half of the enemy noises sound like shitposts
That's the point, to be cheesy like SotN.
>aitsu
Doesnt sound like Frick you at all
Playing this game helped me realize why I don't like the vania part of metroidvanias.
This was pretty damn cool and pretty hot
Ideally we get more cool and hot stuff next time.
Playing hard mode now, makes the games 10 times better.
I play this quite regularly, have to mod out those fricking awful neckbeard kickstarter backer portraits though.
I love my wife!
your wife is very cute anon
Yes she is
it's a shame we know so little about her, I was kinda expecting the game to tell more about the bosses, even in her playable mode im pretty sure there is no extra lore, though I may be mistaken
I Hope she becomes a reoccurring villian. Such a great character design.
Doesn't Miriam technically own her soul now?
Bloodless is a vampire. And Miriam killed her.
She owns O.D.'s right?
Yes, it's where the lore came from; if you kill a vampire and they respawn, you're their master.
So if Bloodless comes back, she SHOULD be Miriam's servant. Maybe she'll be the new costume/hair stylist, or a unique save room where Miriam walks behind a curtain and her silhouette sits in the bath.
That would be cool.
>makes art of Bloodstained, Soulcalibur, and Metal Slug
A true artist
should have been more lewd
He's cracked the code.
Yes, good game. I love Miriam, I hope we get more of her in the future.
Yeah, it's a very good game
should I replay this on hard or do my first SotN randomizer?
RotN has a randomizer too. Flip a coin. They're both good.
Though the last time I did the RotN randomizer, it still had some game-breaking bugs.
I enjoyed it a lot but I understand that many people play or don't play games purely based on graphics and gameplay is continuing to lose relevance as a factor in game quality.
In fairness, there's a lot of weird hiccups the gameplay makes, even setting aside the graphics.
There's no reason that the aimed spells were on the Right Trigger when aiming with the Right Stick, but you can't have a gun equipped to the Left Trigger. Instead, LT was used for your equipment sleeves, something that should have been on the d-pad.
The map of the game was also lacking. SotN's castle let you split in various directions and loop back around. But RotN's castle is much much more restrictive.
>In fairness, there's a lot of weird hiccups the gameplay makes, even setting aside the graphics.
no argument there
I love the game and all but it's ugly as frick. It doesn't need to look like real life with bleeding edge tech, it just needs to have a not shit art style.
mid af fr fr no cap
SPEED KILLED
FAST CARD
CHEAP THRILLED
Bloodstained is objectively better than both mediocre sorrow games. There isnt one thing they do better than RoTN. Unanalytical soma gays will disagree
I don't like the Sorrow games, but they're more visually pleasing.
True, they had better art direction.
True for aria
Dawn has some really ugly enemies(Sand faces heart eater slugs), portraits, and some area backgrounds look like a pre ps1 pre rendered mess (Subterranean hell)
Also that valmanway
DoS Doesnt get enough flak for how ugly it is, almost everything good looking is from SoTN
Yup, it was excellent
Yes and I enjoyed how its philosophy was "how close can we get to SotN while still remaining legally distinct from it?"
Yeah, I backed the game for $100 and beat it in v1.0 on PS4.
Had a blast, but never got around to doing a second playthrough yet. I was waiting for update at first but now I've just been distracted with dozens of other games. I still want to do a 100% playthrough though.
Not that one. Only the wannabe 8 bit Dracula's Curse knock off. Am I really missing out?
Yes it was shit so i refunded it
Yes, I did. I enjoyed it a lot.
went in expecting SOTN and was disappointed. would have probably enjoyed it more if my expectations had been kept reasonable.
Metroid games have always been better form than Castlevanias
I liked the 8bit style games better
Those are brutally hard
They were alright.
This first game is completely fine. The 2nd has some kaizo shit, but isn't THAT bad
Dominique>
Its true!
they really squandered her character by killing her off
>he doesn't know
How do you unlock this? Also does this mean a Castlevania 3 based mode?
>Also does this mean a Castlevania 3 based mode
but there's already Curse of the moon 1 and 2.
>How do you unlock this?
It's not out yet, and as an anon said in this thread it's supposed to be like Simon's Quest.
Fricking hell. Thanks for the spoiler man. I should've known.
Play the curse games which I'm pretty sure are a separate canon and she's basically main girl
>tight leather/latex nun outfit
>it's stuck in an 8bit game
Frick.
I know it sucks
It's 4 years old now. Should have played it already.
Hopefully we get that outfit in the Dominique mode.
Yeah, but she most likely went to Hell for her sins, so she can come back any time she wants.
I want her to have an Oboro-tier hateboner for Miriam.
I'd actually rather she become proper good like she was in the Curse of the Moon games.
I have always seen this thumbnail and thought she has her hand raised
Bloodless mode was great. Unlike those Belmont-like modes it rewarded exploration, and the route you take in the castle is completely different from the main game
And she can blow a kiss to the camera
I prefer Curse of the Moon 1, 2
Honestly this game would look so much better if it had the pixel artstyle of the GBA/DS games
To be honest I never much liked seeing 3D models on a 2d plane. Not for fighters. Not for platformers. It always fricks with my depth perception.
RotN is a fantastic case for that. Remember how much people laughed at the red moon floating in the foreground of the demo? Because it looked so awful, nobody could tell if it was a visual glitch or intentional.
Man I'd really like to violently frick her brains out while pinning her to the wall if you get my drift
I don't follow
Man, I'd like her to do that to Miriam, if you get my drift.
I did. Game was decent. Area design and aesthetic was ass in most of the areas though, the 3d really didn't help.
Game was enjoyable to finish once, immediately got bored when I started hard mode or tried bloodless though
One of the four games that I finished and earned the platinum trophy of my PS4 collection. The other three being Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers.
I'm one of the few who liked the graphics.
Right there with you, bro. I don't care about "graphics" per se, only about the overall style and aesthetics, and I think they did a pretty good job in this department with this game. The "colorful gothic" visuals are very fitting for a Castlevania game.
The problem isn't that it's colorful the problem is that the 3d and the actual viewpoint don't grok.
My only mistake was turning the brightness high up (I did the same mistake with Dread) and after I put the brightness low I had realized that I had made a huge mistake.
more games should allow you to freely customize the look of MC
this game is so ugly. All you need to do is play Curse of the Moon to realize how vapid this game is.
Are they ever going to finish this game? The fact that they are working on a sequel before finishing the first one is kind of scummy to me. Is making Dominique finally playable so hard and budget consuming?
>Are they ever going to finish this game?
505 are the ones working on it, and their contract only paid them off of the sales of the game. So they make no real extra money for working on it.
They already scammed Igarashi before, they'll do it again.
Is making one character playable, adding a couple of costumes, and adding one new gameplay mode that hard for such a small game like this?
It isn't. But like I said, they wouldn't get paid much for doing it, so they're stalling.
They don't owe it, Artplay does.
505 is forever butthurt over modders finding out ahead of time so they'll never do it.
The game is already finished. The stuff in the roadmap is extra content, which I think they might be fricked if they don't deliver at this point after hyping it up so much. Honestly I've been wanting to reinstall this game but I'm still waiting for all the extra content to be released.
>hyping it
Anon, they were stretch-goals. They're already paid for.
Which is funny because they're charging for the outfits, despite the outfits being paid for by the fans already.
>The stuff in the roadmap is extra content,
If it's stuff they promised during development and funding then it's not EXTRA. It was paid for.
>budget consuming?
considering how much BUDGET these scam games got I refuse to accept that
>Aurora playable character
I still don't know how and why that happened.
Because these Kickstarter homosexuals were all sucking each other off. You're lucky it's not a fricking Mighty Number 9 crossover
Anon, Child of Light is an Ubisoft game.
It was a deal with ubishit way back when Bloodstained was originally proposed they had an obligation to include it even it took like 6 years
I don't care about 90% of that bonus shit and would rather have another game sooner
This.
Anyone who gives a shit about the stretch goals, are just the far fringes of the fans. The vast majority of us don't give a shit about extra modes in a 4 year old dead game.
They're also incredibly short sighted. If Iga sticks to the plan, and waits until the stretch content is complete, then he'll run out of money before he gets the chance to make the sequel.
Who even plays these modes? I sure as shit don't. The only update I want, is a re-balance of alchahest cost for dishes. All dishes shouldn't cost 9 alchahest to dismantle. Some should cost less.
Also, I want access to black pepper before Underground Sorcery Lab.
Yes, I played on release, and I found it mediocre at best, but maybe I was expecting too much from it because I am biased by the Castlevania games.
Maybe the game isn't so bad, maybe the DS Castlevanias are simply too good, I will replay it eventually, and I will do it unbiased.
I found bloodstained to be just as good.
SotN > PoR > OoE > AoS > DoS > Bloodstained > HoD > CotM
That's how Bloodstained ranks among the castlevania games for me, if I could improve something of it is definitely better art style, 2D > 2.5D, also, I found the shards kind of boring and generic, I can't remember any track from it either, the progression gets a bit cryptic at times, namely the train passport thing, and the cave background is reused like 3 or 4 times.
Portrait was awful though
i like it
its probably the longest castlevania game too
it took me like 3 weeks to beat it
Portrait is short as frick, also blatantly padded with the 4 repeat portraits and awful sidequests
But its fun
Fun side quests that challenge your knowledge of the game instead of being "kill 5 bats!"
4 portraits again are far superior to the inverted castle which was the same idea
It has one of the better castles, mainly because of the portraits taking you to cool places, like that which school.
>which school
Which school do you mean?
>portrait was awful
Somagays have gone too far
It was pretty fun, when I first started playing I remember being kind of taken back by the graphics. But after playing a bit it just kind of all blended in and I stopped noticing/caring.
Yeah, it was a good metroidvania but the 2.5d art style looks like shit. Should have been 2d spritework
Yeah and it was good except for a few parts where they took the "where the frick do I go" aspect too hard.
Getting the spike immune armor was fricking stupid.
Yup. CotM games were okay, RotN was great and on par with the Castlevanias. It's my favorite Metroidvania in recent years although Afterimage might give it a run for its money.
yes its kino
Yeah it was good, I never replayed it because I always assumed they'd put out another one pretty fast and now it's like 20 years later
theyve literally released 2 more games.
Not him, but both of those games were outsourced.
I don't want shitty 8bit tradvania
I really hope it gets a proper sequel
yeah i loved it
is not the BEST castlevania ever made but its on the top 5 for me
>aria
>ds
>rondo
>portrait
>bloodstained
I literally couldn't beat the first boss (the medusa c**t on the boat). Maybe I'll try again one day.
I don't remember if it is scripted that you lose or not, maybe I'm confusing it with salt and sanctuary.
salt and sanctuary was terrible tbh
Salt and Sanctuary was great, I like the sequel too because I'm a MH chad.
The thing with Salt and Sanctuary is that right at the start the game REALLY wants to kick your teeth in, but once you get the hang of it the game becomes very enjoyable.
it's definitely a game by str chads for str chads because doing any other build makes the game exponentially harder
It's not you have to kill her. I mean I guess so because I just kept losing.
Its retro 3d puts me off, its so fricking ugly. really sad as the concept of it being 2d sprite based looked amazing.
It's not really retro, unless you mean like a PS3 or switch game.
I've played down of sorrow several times but never the GBA Soma games.
you should
