I'm not fan of indie gaming, but people love to say how they become a superior to games from bigger studios. Seems like we are living at the end of era of AAA games because they now become worse in terms of quality. Maybe big studios will just refuse to make them in favour for mobiles because they gain more profit and cheap. Everyone will become a frickonami. Many people are enjoying those pixel art 8 bit roguelites. It's kinda sad for me. It's like throwing back into 80s when videogames where nothing but simple arcades.
Most AAA games nowadays are really boring & soulless made mostly to get money with almost 0 creative freedom for devs, indies are total opposites. They made with heart, they don't rush things, they mostly do something original, have fun gameplay/interesting story/banger ost
Not really? Most indie games commit most of the same sins as AAA with looser rules since publishers flush with money can not only fund all the higher budget games but also a sizable amount of indie games. The only reason you see more success is because of the number of indies that get made and how budget and effort needed to make those types of games is much less than a AAA game. That's why you see games trying to ape off successful games like Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley and etc. and why games get picked up by publishers 99% of the time instead of being self-published most of the time.
Yeah. I remember times when indies where feeling innovative and cool. Now it's just a boring conveyor of pixel-art platformer roguelites whatever created by Twitter hipster. And of course, big companies are earning money from publishing such games.I was big fan of indie gaming, but today it's just a shit with games of eternal early access.
Yeah, you pretty much have to pick out diamonds from a mountain of indie games shovelware and wannabes to find unique cool games which isn't that great. Steam pretty much kinda helps out with the best discoverability tools in the industry but they can still fail hard.
And sadly, really good indie games with so many effort are overshadowed by mainstream shit like another Enter the Binding of Cells Survivors.

Your perception of reality is poisoned by Ganker. You used to get your gaming info from gaming magazines, whose formats encouraged them to cover both big and lesser known games, thus giving you a broader view. Now that mags are replaced with (You)-driven websites like Ganker, the only games you'll ever hear of are only those with the highest (You) potential. This is why everything looks shit to you.
You're posting a list curated over several years of gaming, and you mentioned quite a few of the great ones. But even that list, if it was 100 games, that's barely a drop in the bucket compared to how many games Steam has published YOY which is marked indie.
And? Do you need me to tell you how much fricking shovelware littered the shelves two decades ago?
all shit
Frick off, you moronic cum guzzling homosexual. All of that shit you just stained the thread with is worthless garbage.
amazing how many non indies are on that list.
You posted a picture of 2012
That was 10 years ago
Not the era we are currently living
People gravitate to indies I believe because they put you in the meat of the game quickly like aaa games used to do. Nowadays every single game has to have a pointless story and hour of exposition/tutorial minimum.
Neon White is really good and that just released last month
Cuphead DLC too. Yes it counts as indie, MS didn't actually publish it ever.
I doubt Neon White is an indie game. It has more budget and team.
The core team is pretty small, the publisher just gave them an animated intro and a voice cast to work with
Wow, they are very talented people.
Too bad that people in Innersloth are a bunch of stupid monkeys.
most big (western) studios do nowadays are safe, uninspired, market tested garbage that we already played time and time again
indies need to make bold decisions to make a name for themselves and are more deserving of attention and/or money
Samurai bringer is low key fun

we were for a few years, really seems to have died out now though. last indie game i enjoyed was noita maybe cuphead before that, cant think of any recents i played and liked.
There are so many indie Hanes being made today you're going to get a frickton of great ones from sheer volume of what's produced alone. And that's not a bad thing

Diverse list of genres andarts types, I'll never get people saying all indie games are exactly the same.
The point of a AAA game these days is to get a constant flow of income. Making a game like GTA 5 isnt worth the risk anymore when people play GTA:online for 10 years while buying sharkcards.
We did but I think it's over.
You're a decade late moron indie games have been shit since 2014 or so
